This is your typical local hardware store which seems to be a dying breed these days. There's a private parking lot so you don't have to park on busy Lincoln Blvd. The cashier was a bit grouchy and didn't seem to treat his co-workers that well. I price compared some random items and found them to be a little higher here than other establishments. Good store. Some of the reviews seem to want warm and fuzzy from a hardware store. Not sure what's up with that. The staff have always been helpful to me. It doesn't have nearly the selection of B&B, but it's got the basics covered and the prices for the items that I have bought have been fair. Excellent customer service. I came in with a wobbly drum stool and a very passionate gentleman named Mark was excellent in helping me find what pieces I needed to fix it and he continued to help me put the pieces on himself, some of them custom pieces! They had excellent stock of everything that I had needed. In this day and age, it's easier to just go online and buy everything you need and have it literally hand delivered to your doorstep. The experience you won't receive is customer service like this. I recommend this place for your hardware, key copying, and other needs! I found two items at Lincoln Hardware, a towel bar and handles for my kitchen cabinets. Simple yes, but I wasted four hours today going to Home Depot, Orchard-OSH and a couple of specialty cabinet shops looking for something that wasn't cheesy. Great little neighborhood hardware store with a helpful, friendly staff that thwarted my horrible impulse to buy the wrong part to fix my toilet because i thought it would be better. We really have to support stores like this--independently owned and staffed with knowledgeable people--or else all we're going to be left with is Home Depot, where finding someone to help you is about as easy as finding a $100 bill on the street. read more

We had a key made at another hardware store and found out when we were not near the other hardware store that the key did not work. We went to Lincoln True Value hardware and they reground the key. Now it works! The point here is that they would not take any money for fixing the key, even though they had done nothing incorrectly This is just my thanks. read more

Tiny little place on Lincoln, near Superba...just across the street from the Staples. The kind of place that people don't think exist in the big city any more. Laconic old guys manning the register, not caring if you're a penny short, not caring if you don't know jacksh*t about hardware, not really caring about anything, really, except ringing you up. They'll point you in the right direction, they suffer fools (that'd be me) - well, if not gladly, tolerantly - and they've always pretty much had everything I've ever needed. Gunky black tar to patch a roof with in a downpour? Check. Keys? Check. Paint? Check. Spackle? Check. Clothesline? Check. Rubber thingies to tie a tree with? Check. Eight million different kinds of screws? Check. They might not have the volume or profile of an institution like B & B, and you could fit about 40 Lincoln Hardwares in the Home Depot down on Jefferson, but these guys deal with hardware on a human scale, with a human face, and dammit - isn't that the way it's supposed to be? read more

First this was my second visit with the same type of hostility. I walked in and right away just asking a question I get an attitude. I understand that people can have bad days but from previous reviews looks like these guys (especially the old man) have many. Coming to make copies of keys they failed to mention it was cash only before making the key or that there was a minimum. Then when I told them no one mentioned that. They argued and threw my key (no need to throw things and yell). If they would just told me that it was a minimum or cash I would gone to an ATM or bought more hooks and such that I needed. In fact after asking about debit and being denied I started to look around for anything else i would need to make the minimum, but wasn't even given the option. Instead I was told to not come back. No problem. I left thanking them for wasting my time. I went on my lunch break since they are open 8-5 m-f. They lost business and money. read more

They may have a lot of things but they have the nastiest man running checkout... He's been there for years, never smiles, won't answer questions and is always grumpy regardless of how nice you are to him. He is the reason I don't go there if I don't have to. The guys at the front are universally sullen, but Jose in the back is more than pleasant and willing to undertake and solve any problem. He's a font of knowledge about all things hardware. While I waited I saw him solve a wide variety of problems for customers and always with confidence and a smile. The store looked to have anything that you could want. Great place, with a local bent. I like the bulk nails so that I don't have to buy a big box for every size I need, then feel like I have to store them for the next 20 years. Helpful, matter-of-fact, friendly staff They have a huge, very easy to access parking lot so it's easy to just stop by. I often call ahead to see if they have what I need. The store feels lighter and easier to get around in than other local independent hardwares, which feel a bit cramped and airless to me, with difficult parking (although they're also good in their ways). So, yes, this is a good, local hardware store! read more

This is a local hardware store that has to compete with the likes of Home Depot so they had two guys standing around to help customers in addition to the cashier. The first guy had an attitude perhaps to hide the fact that he didn't really know what he ws talking about. I ended up finding what I needed after he then agreed that it was the right product. As I was leaving, I asked the other guy his opinion and the first guy made wisecracks. The prices are what you would expect from a local store but at least they're open on Sundays! The owner is cranky and rude. If you have a small purchase they aren't that interested in helping you. They require minimum $10 to use a credit card which is obnoxious for those of us who don't carry cash. I had to buy a $3 item and they wouldn't take my card. I even offered them $3.50 to cover the fees but they rudely sent me on my way. read more

I live near Lincoln Hardware but prefer to drive 15 minutes to B&B Hardware. I have had keys made that don't work, and when I have come back a half hour later they wouldn't remake without a receipt even though they have seen me in there over the last twenty years. The staff is too busy making dumb remarks instead of finding your needs, and the owner doen't give a damn. read more

Escaped from the wide-aisle hell of Chrome Depot to this wonderful neighbourhood place. Got what I wanted -- four little strap hooks x 99 cents. The guy drilled out the holes in the hook to fit the oversize bolt I had -- wouldn't take $$ for this custom service. In less than ten minutes the guy had me on my way. Great service offered without any hope of repeat business because I'm just passing thru LA. I'm going back to the boonies where charming, service-oriented shops have all been swallowed by corporates. support small business and shop here... very affordable and the staff is super super knowledgeable example: my boyfriend and i were doing some home improvement and we needed to wire a light switch. we came and asked for a length of wire. insted of just cutting it and walking away they asked what project we were working on and when we got to talking theay informed us the wire we were trying to buy would be a fire hazzard... wow!!! and suggested a better one that also was cheeper...double wow!!! honest friendly people and funny things sitting on the shelves that have been there since the place opened... a little bit of everything. read more

They are so nice here! I had a bent table leg shipped to me from Overstock.com. Because it was bent I couldn't assemble the desk (the pieces wouldn't fit together). I took this bent table leg in, not knowing if they could do anything and expecting to pay at least $20. They took one look at it and said they would give it a go, $2 all together. 5 minutes later, my table leg was completely fixed! They were extremely friendly too! Highly recommend. read more
