I dig this place. It's right around the corner from me, the guys that work there always have something interesting, and they almost always have what I'm looking for. Plus there's always someone around to help you find what you need. I have to admit part of what I like about this place is just the nostalgia it evokes in me and because they don't do the volume of the super warehouse stores, their prices are definitely higher, but if you live in Venice this place is definitely the most convenient for your hardware needs. read more

This place is amazing for a few reasons: they have so much stuff in a seemingly small space, the staff is small town friendly, there is plenty of parking and (the best) I don't have to go to Home Depot. Easily Venice's best hardware store, if not the Westside's. I went in this morning to get a key cut and was blown away by the service. The key was for a padlock that my father bought just after my parents were married in 1968, and even though it took over ten minutes of trying to find the blank I needed - and several books of master key styles/manufacturers - the guy never got annoyed or short with me but was actually cracking jokes the whole time and making me feel like less of an idiot for being so attached to an old padlock. He eventually found the blank I needed and cut a key that works *perfectly* in a lock that's over 40 years old. Total cost: $1. If they didn't require cash for any transaction under $10, they'd absolutely get five stars. read more

My real neighborhood hardware store. I come here first for what I need, and I usually find it. The employee to patron ratio is healthy enough that you can get in and out in seconds if you know what you need. If you don't, someone can help you with that, you'll find out quickly enough and with manners of a gentleman if not more. Hope they stay around a lot longer than they've already lasted. read more

These people are selling garage clickers $12 more than MSRP (discovered a few hours later) and when we had initially opened the resealed packaging, the clicker had obviously been used (they didn't even attempt to clean it up). My wife went back in to ask for another and the miserable man at the register just threw one at her - Why bother even trying to support local businesses when they just want to rip you off? read more

Great small local old fashioned hardware store. They have a lot of good quality tools, and all the right things for fix up jobs around the house. Great personal knowledgeable service. Great selection of small nuts bolts and screws which is well stocked and well organized. If you are on in the venice area and fixing something, it's faster easier and more pleasant than home depot. Also good if you want someone to help you ..you wont have to wait around to get someone like home depot. Very little in the way of wood. They do have paint, glues, plumbing supply electrical etc. They aren't out of stock on things like B and B . read more

I like supporting local businesses, but I will drive to Home Depot versus visiting this place. Everything twice the price as in major stores, the owner was yelling at one of his vendors in the front of the store, and you have to remember the price of everything because they don't feel like putting price tags on the items. One employee was helpful, but the rest of the experience was painful. read more

Pros - its local it carries more than you'd think the guys in the back are very friendly and helpful when they know about the topic you need help on Cons - -the old dude behind the checkout counter is totally cranky and rude and not helpful one bit. -the guys in the back dont always know about the stuff your trying to fix - so if you get the feeling that you're not sure about their advice, get a second oppinion. -B&B has a way better selection and those guys there really really know what they are talking about - so if its a major project, its worth the drive to talk to them. read more

I had such a wonderful experience at Lincoln Hardware the other day. One of the workers, Carlos, went above and beyond his duties not once but twice for me. Initially, I came in looking for parts to fix my glider and not only did he find the parts but reassembled the chair for me! Later that day I was dealing with a broken vacuum and returned to the hardware store to get the plug replaced. Once again, Carlos to the rescue finding the correct plug and replacing it for me. What a gift Carlos is to Lincoln Hardware and has made me an even bigger fan of my beloved local Hardware Store. read more

me too, me too! i always lose my keys and i always need new ones. every time i come to lincoln hardware the same old man makes my keys and pokes fun at me while he makes them. i don't know why he does this, but i find it endearing. he knows EVERYTHING about making keys! might as well get your keys from an expert right? this place reminds me of hardware stores in hawaii that i miss. oh, they have cute keys too. last time i got hearts and rainbows. next time, stars, perhaps. and i love the parking too! i mean, how can they have that WHOLE lot all to themselves??!?!? read more

Pros: Good selection and they often have hard-to-find items. Cons: You will not find a more rude and disinterested staff. Their customer service is the perfect example of what not to do. I've lived in Venice for 12 years and been in Lincoln hardware countless times. They have, without fail, always been rude and condescending. I even complained to the owner today about it and even HE acted like an a$$. I ended going elsewhere to get my key cut, which they told me was some Chinese special key which they couldn't copy but which the lock store down the street copied in 30 seconds. I'm a Venice local, I grew up in that beautiful city!!! There are very few of the small business's left in Venice from my childhood. With that said, I'm so glad that this place is still around and still employing some of the same people who have been there since I was a child. The prices are kind of up there but they are a small business so I fully support them, the customer service is good, they treat you like a regular who they've been waiting for you to come by and get your weekly supplies!!! read more

I usually only stopped at small hardware stores when I can't find items at Home Depot, however last time I stopped there I found better quality items that they didn't stock at Home Depot and I couldn't find anywhere except at the store I was very surprised and it was a great price, kudos for them, not only that but one of the sales people is extremely helpful read more

Since I'm working on a DIY project, I needed some non sanded, pre mixed grout. I called beforehand to make sure they had what I needed so that I wouldn't waste a trip. I spoke to Rick on the phone who said they had some grout but wasn't sure if it was sanded or not. I then checked in with a handyman buddy of mine who said, "You need it to be non sanded." So, I called back and got Rick again who said it was non sanded. I went down to the store, only to find Rick profusely apologizing that he gave me the wrong information, and sure enough the color that I wanted was indeed sanded. Of course, I was frustrated. But my frustration didn't last long because Rick apologized once again and was quite kind and helpful in helping me find a suitable replacement for my DIY project. In fact, most of the men working there came around, and they were very helpful too! Rick then gave me a discount for my troubles and apologized for my inconvenience once again. Nothing makes me happier than to support a good local business and I am so glad I went to this one! They were super sweet and helpful over the phone to ensure that they not only had the product I was looking for on the shelf, but in stock, too! I was greeted by four friendly workers when I entered the store, one of whom helped me find the product, carried it for me, and rung me up. The other gentlemen were warm and hospitable - one even offered me a box to carry my purchase in.
