Server was fabulous - funny and engaging. The food was very tasty. My friend had the Lincoln Special: 2 eggs any way you like, home fries, 2 slices of French toast, and a choice of meat (she got perfectly cooked scrapple.). I ordered a potato omelette with wheat toast. The restaurant was clean but the building is in need of some repairs. The window next to our table had napkins stuffed all around the frame. Maybe damaged in a storm? Aside from that, food was good, service was great and my friend said the bathroom was clean. Breakfast/lunch/dinner served all day. The food was okay but waitress was running back and forth getting in cars and on the phone for the most part. Waitress came back in reeking of marijuana and cigarettes. I asked where a manager was and lol and behold my waitress was the manager. This place is close to where my mom gets dialysis so it was convenient but it seems like too much illegal activity going on. Doesn't look like much when you drive by, but oh my word this place is GOOD! I wish I would've gave it a chance much sooner. Their menu is BIG, I'm talking pages long... the serving sizes are BIG and the prices are small! We are talking $12 senior meals with two sides and a dessert. I got a BIG crab cake, with tons of meat and little filler, with fries for $10!!! Their burgers and breakfast are to die for, and don't even get me started on the rice pudding. I've had their food before. It's OK. You gotta know what to get. Breakfast is more hit than miss. That being said this review is not about their food. But I am stating that I've had a sausage egg and cheese sandwich and it is pretty good. I'm not a big fan of sausage, but they will make your eggs to order. My gripe is this, more diners need to implement à la cart. I recently called and placed the order for two sausage egg and cheese sandwiches. My total was $19. I did not think of it til two minutes and while driving. Why are two sausage egg and cheese sandwiches $20? So I immediately called them back and asked not being rude. I just thought it a little pricey on the other end was very pleasant but we both figured it out. It's because they add the fried potatoes. You and me both know Americans consume way too much. We don't need potatoes with breakfast sandwiches. Every now and then if you're hungry, I can understand if you're going to burn it up long day at work, etc. so I asked if they had à la cart so I could order just two sandwiches. They do not I proceeded to call Willie's diner a little further up on Lincoln Highway if you're familiar with the Coatesville area. Two sandwiches $10 95 and they're awesome. YOU'RE CHARGED DIFFERENT (HIGHER) PRICES than what's PRINTED ON THE MENUS! I'm sorry but it's just totally unacceptable, anywhere, ever. You can't post a price and charge a higher one AFTER the customer orders and EATS their food. Happened to me last week. I noticed when my bill came that the prices were higher than what I saw on the menu just 20 minutes before. I asked the lovely waitress and she said "Oh yes, the owner is 'working on' getting the menus updated". So in the meantime, customers are going to be handed a bill with prices that they didn't agree to. Came here for the first time for breakfast. I ordered the broccoli cheddar omelette that came with hash browns and toast. Hubby ordered their cinnamon raisin french toast with bacon. What's Hot - Menu. There's something for everyone, except vegans. There's non-veggie and veggie dishes. For example, I was going to pick their vegetarian omelette, but I wanted some actual greens. When I saw the broccoli and cheddar omelette, I was sold. There's a decent amount of specials, too! Lox and bagels, french toast, waffles, pancakes, plain breakfast, etc... Their non-breakfast menu looks pretty decent, as well. - Quality. Good, but doesn't stand out. My omelette came with hash browns and toast. On it's own, the flavor was pretty good. However, I'm a spicy food lover, so I added hot sauce to mine. Hubby's french toast was pretty thick, too! Looked like Texas toast. Hubby said it was good, but didn't stand out. - Hot sauce. K, dudes. I know this may seem like minor details to you, but details matter! When I asked for hot sauce, the waitress asked me if I wanted Tobasco or Sriracha. Nice! That they had sriracha was an added bonus. Not many restaurants have anything other than Tobasco. I'm happy that they ventured off the beaten path. - Price. My breakfast was $8.99. Hubby's was also less than $10. Not bad for a full meal for one person. They do have additional sides, but you pay extra for those. - Service. Pretty good and reliable. After we got our check, the wait staff still came by periodically to check in on us, like if we needed any more water or coffee. For me, the mark of good service is when wait staff still check in on you after you've received the check. Also, when we got there, we told the kid waiter we were meeting someone, and the kid pointed to a table and told us our friend was already there. This is a kid, who already is great at paying attention to details! Props. What's Not - Menu. As I mentioned earlier, there's something for everyone. However, their menu is quite big. Perhaps too much. There's stir fry options on the menu. Say what?? Dudes, it's a diner in the middle of Coatesville. As a Chinese- American, I would not trust getting a stir-fry from a diner, in the middle of Coatesville. Remember, people. A diner. Not even a Chinese or Asian restaurant. Dudes, no need to try so hard. Final Answer Willing to come back. This place doesn't stand out as anything special. It's good, but does not blow my mind good. New diner right by the airport rd exit of the 30 bypass was a pizza place before. Parking could be a challenge, the lot is small and it shares space with the gas station and mini-mart next door. We were greeted promptly and shown a table, the chairs were a little sticky but nothing a napkin didn't solve. Two guests ordered breakfast items, I ordered a wrap sandwich and fries. Definitely not a "diner". Man, this place is expensive. Food quality is really good. Way to good to be called a diner. The problem for me is that when I hear diner food I think I get diner quality at diner prices. That is not the case here. This is more of a sitdown restaurant with Applebee prices. So if you're looking for a greasy spoon with good food and low prices this is not the place for you. We normally have a pretty good breakfast at Lincoln Diner but today was a bad experience. When we sat down at the only booth available, it was in the back area, but the lights were off. We ordered drinks..then we started seeing a bunch of bugs flying around our table. We killed 3 in the matter for 5 mins...we were considering leaving but we didn't have another place in mind. We started cracking up laughing due to a little girl sitting behind us "there's a bug on me!! There's a bug of me!!" In which her parents ignored. She later complained to her parents again saying "there's a bug on my arm!" To which her dad said there's no bugs but we couldn't help but laugh because there were tons of flying bugs..the food was not the best but not the worst. The service wasn't the greatest either... Had high hopes but 3 strikes & they're out. Would rather visit the Burger King. At least they're consistent and fast. First time my husband & I went for breakfast. I ordered crab Benedict. It's a nice standard diner with everything that implies positive and negative. The service was fine the food was fine there's a sign that they're open 24 hours now so that's good! Prices aren't bad at all what else can I say? The only negative from my point of you is when I went early one morning I was seated right by the TV blaring Fox and Friends. While the food wouldn't give indigestion the entertainment certainly does. This place is beautiful, granite tabletops and window sills which are clean. Very spacious and roomy, and the service is friendly. We came for breakfast and my husband got the French toast and several sides, I ordered the sausage gravy over biscuits with homefries. We gave it 2 stars for the food. The portions were just too large for breakfast on giant plates. The homefries seemed more like hash browns that were frozen and bland, and the sausage gravy was floury, thick and awful. Though my husband enjoyed his rather oversized pieces of French Toast. We both agreed that most of it had a strange oily fryolator taste. The scrapple, the homefries smelled and tasted heavily of oil. It was a huge turnoff. I did not ask for a box, because it belonged in the trash. Your best bet for breakfast is to take the time and drive to Downingtown and go to The Blob Diner. It's a little place but their breakfast was delicious and certainly cheaper. We stopped here on our post-Christmas drive back to Philly from central PA. We were starving but wanted to get out of our parents' hair early that day. We had the "Sampler" for breakfast. Everything was perfect, including poached eggs. French toast was to-die-for and everything made on the griddle tasted like it was made on a clean griddle. Not too much grease or butter. My husband, his buddy, and I decided to grab a late dinner here. We heard they were pretty good and decided to try it out. Husband ordered a Corned beef Rueben, his buddy ordered a crab melt, and I decided on the seafood combo with a side of coleslaw. Was waited on quickly. Wait staff was distant and gave normal greetings, which is fine with me cause I'm not fond of being pestered too much. Our food came out about 10 minutes later. The rest of our table got all their food, I had to ask for my coleslaw. The waitress came back with one of those small plastic condiment cups with a lid with a little bit of coleslaw in it. Their sandwiches were toasted right not overly cooked, my food was completely different. The seafood combo for 18.99 consist of one decent sized top burnt crab cake, a nugget and a half of haddock, 2 shrimps, and 3 small scallops, one with a decent size chunk missing from it. Keeping my hopes up and the rest of my party as well we didn't complain and tasted the food. The fish was obviously frozen beforehand which doesn't bother me but it was bland and tasted like it had been sitting in someone's freezer for some time, the crab cake was mainly stuffing with fake crab meat, the shrimp was okay and the scallops were tolerable. My husband said their Corned beef Rueben was terrible and he could get a better one at home, and barely ate half. His buddy said his crab melt was okay. The bill came to almost 50$. It is outrageously priced for being as bad as it is and the fact that a meal that cost almost $20 looks like that disappointing meal from Long John Silvers had me a bit irate when leaving. I've been here several times since they've opened. Nice, friendly staff. I tried breakfast and lunch here, definitely prefer the breakfast menu... the weekday breakfast special is a great deal, big portions for a typical diner breakfast that really hits the spot. The pancakes are also good. I also tried a couple of things from the lunch menu with mixed results. My wife and I have eaten here about ten times since they opened. The food has been very good, always served hot. The portions are very generous and that prices fair. We are always very well treated by the wait staff. They are friendly and more than willing to do everything to make your dining experience a pleasant one. The only negative is the parking.
