We recently hosted a party for 20 people at King's Tavern, and the experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. Kassie was wonderful to work with during the planning process. She was incredibly accommodating and helped coordinate every detail, from the room set up and decorations to having appetizers ready for our guests upon arrival. Her flexibility and attention to detail made the entire process easy and stress-free. On the day of the event, Shannon was our on-site contact and was equally impressive. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the evening. We didn't even have to do clean-up from our decorating! They told us to take what we wanted and they handled the rest! That in itself was a big PLUS! One of the things our guests appreciated most was that King's Tavern allowed everyone to order from the full menu at the time of the event. Whether guests wanted a salad, burger, steak, or crabcake dinner, everyone was able to choose exactly what they wanted. The food was outstanding, and the quality exceeded our expectations. The private dining area was lovely, providing the perfect atmosphere for our gathering. We were also pleasantly surprised by how reasonably priced the event was considering the excellent food, service, and accommodations. I'm well known among my family and friends as having high expectations and not being easy to please - but King's Tavern rose to the occasion and impressed me in every aspect. I would highly recommend King's Tavern for private events and celebrations. We would absolutely host another event there and look forward to returning as regular dinner guests as well. read more

I convinced my husband to give King's Tavern another try since he wasn't impressed the first time. Service was ! Evan was wonderful! Attentive without making us feel rushed. The wine, Caesar salad and fries were good. We had Pinot noir and Chardonnay. That's unfortunately where it ended. The mixed drinks were terrible. We tried the five star margarita and the pineapple martini. You can get better drinks elsewhere. If you stick to wine or beer you'll be fine. The prime rib egg rolls were off-tasting like soap or something and if there were caramelized onions, I could not find them . The chicken club sandwich was lackluster, it said garlic aioli but was so herb heavy that it overwhelmed the sandwich. The scallops were not awful but also nothing to write home about or make us want to come back for. Our bill was almost $200 before tip and for that price we've had much better meals and better quality food at other restaurants. read more

Exterior did not look impressive, but the interior reminded me of old fashioned nice restaurant. The service was down to earth politeness, helpful, and attentive. They give you complimentary potato chips with blue cheese dressing. I never knew this combo would be addictive. I have been to the twin tavern in Chadds Ford same menu, same food, Chadds Ford sometimes does better due to clientele. Still nice to have a cozy, semi-upscale menu for this area. I feel they need an ozone-aerator system as it is very musty. Party of four -Wedge excellent, French Onion Soup good but could have been kept under broiler a bit longer. Tonight was buck a shuck night, oysters, top necks, shrimp-$1.00. That WAS the MOST lack luster, bland raw app I have ever had. Shuckers didn't try to keep liquid in O/C, also should have had a mignonette. Pasta Primavera was good - but would have liked crushed red pepper. Wings as a dinner excellent - Children's Pasta with olive oil and parm gobbled up- Sea Bass special said Crispy Skin but it wasn't , plus I didn't taste crab imperial at all. Fish was translucent and not hot. Server was wonderful about taking part of it back and trying to get the kitchen to get it more cooked. They just put more sauce on it and gave extra green beans. Risotto was so salty I couldn't eat that either. As a go to place for locals I would stay with basic apps and tavern specials. read more

If I gave this review when they first opened, they would get a five star. The staff is always kind but they're food has gone way downhill. Don't advertise lump crab meat on your Mushroom soup when you just have a few flakes. When they first opened, the mushroom soup had a pile of crab meat on it. Now you're lucky to get a flake, and it's mostly just a pile of shredded mushrooms. Just changes on your menu. read more

Happy hour is the best deal. It's 7 days a week PLUS daily promotions on top of that. The menu is pretty pricey otherwise, but folks rave about the food. I only snagged oysters & I tasted the huge Bavarian pretzel- yummy. BUT- disappointed the oysters don't come with a mignonette or hot sauce. It only came with 1 lemon wedge for 10 oysters & cocktail sauce. Thankfully, the cocktail sauce was tasty, but I don't typically eat it, not my favorite. Plus 1 wedge didn't last long with 10 huge east coast oysters, but they were delicious! Bartenders Wendy & Kelly are a duo & make yummy drinks. Cool neighborhood vibe at the bar, sat between two regulars, & was thoroughly entertained. Definitely a HH staple! read more

First time we went on a Saturday night. Place was crowded and loud. My chicken meat was a little tough, not juicy. Ok for tavern food.

My work had our holiday dinner here. We had Tracy was our waitress and was an absolute delight (she deserves a raise and a vacation lol). We started off with a few different appetizers and drinks. My coworkers asked if they could have oysters at happy hour prices (we got there prior to happy hour) and Tracy went to ask for us. We were able to get it approved (Thanks Phil!) And our table was very happy. We got appetizers like short rib poutine (delish!), Bacon wrapped shrimp, wings, pretzels, Philly cheese steak egg rolls etc. Everything was great! I got a pineapple martini and it was pretty strong and tasty. For my entree I was recommended the southern fried chicken with mash and spinach. The fried chicken did not disappoint! The honey glazed sauce was the perfect touch to the dish. Everything about the experience was great except for the end trying to get out of a very chaotic and small parking lot. We were looking forward to our first experience here. Christmas eve, 3PM. restaurant was about half full. We were seated immediately and given menus. Wife had scallops and I opted for crab cakes. When the dishes arrived they looked good, if a little cool. No real complaints, except the promised risotto with corn had no corn. For what they charged , I was hoping for larger portions. It wasn't too bad, but it wasn't too great. I visited with my family on Christmas Eve, where it was beautifully decorated for the holidays. There was a limited menu for the holiday, which was fine, however there was a typo on the menu for which pasta would be included. We received gnocchi instead of angel hair (listed on the menu) and the staff was able to fix this issue. We got our angel hair pasta and it was good, however there was some clumped pasta that came with it. (I honestly didn't care that much but it is in the picture so i felt the need to mention it.) I started out with the mac and cheese appetizer and it had delicious mushrooms in it. I would definitely recommend trying this out. It's a good portion to share between 2 people. The chicken and pasta were good, the chicken was a thicker slice and the pasta was gnocchi. I am not a fan of gnocchi so I did not eat that portion. It was a good size portion and filling. It's a nice place to check out, I like the decor and the staff is friendly. I would recommend going outside of holiday hours. read more

You had me at "buck a schuck". I love me some oysters and clams...plus there was a drink special due to the bridge being re-opened! Two dollar draft beers and six dollar glasses of wine. Bargain! Not to mention the regular happy hour specials that they have...this place is a gem! They bring out chips and dip for the table to start with. We had a combination of salads, wings and the "buck a schuck" stuff. Shrimp, clams, oysters. Yum. My stomach was definitely larger than my eyes and I ordered one of the Bavarian pretzels. Had to take that to go for a couple of reasons. Primarily, I was too full but the more embarrassing reason was...there simply wasn't any room on the table for it. Oops. What a way to ring in 2025, two good reviews in a row! Lets start with ambiance for the King's Tavern. They're clearly going for a regal feel, decorated with paintings of European kings and knights of old, swords, etc. It's curtains and walls complete the feeling of a luxurious medieval castle with the added bonus of modern HVAC and indoor plumbing. You're greeted by the lively bar, which is very lively and quite fun to sit and people watch or enjoy a meal. Service was solid, not flawless but solid. My waitress took a few minutes to get to me, but that was offset by the host at the front who did his damndest to make sure I was helped as soon as possible! Major shout-out to him, You're great keep doing your thing. Once she did get to me she was attentive, quick, polite and very nice! Had it not been for the single faux pas at the beginning we'd be perfect here. Food-wise I'm a touch mixed, but it certainly doesn't take this place off of a 5* rating. So, the French onion soup was a touch bland for me, I didn't really taste much unless I got an onion. The bread that normally soaks up the soup base and tastes wonderful well, it soaked up the soup but sadly it didn't hold up well to it. Finally the cheese on top wasn't great I'm not sure why. But, the chips that come out to begin with are a nice touch. You get seasoned chips tastes like a spicy old bay almost on them. They were delectable. Now the burger, oh man the burger! I got the daily special of the bacon jam burger, it was delicious. Cooked perfectly the smokey flavor of the bacon jam melded perfectly with the beef, the arugula and was just overall wonderful. The buns held up great to the burger and it wasn't too greasy. Don't get me wrong there was your normal burger grease but I didn't feel like I needed a shower after eating it ya know? And the fries, if you're a fan of a nice crisp fry you're in for a treat. This place has their fries down to a scienceperfectly crisp with a nice soft center they really did a spectacular job. This was our first visit. Great improvements to the interior over the former Mr. E's. It's nicely done inside and they were doing a brisk business. Our waiter, Gary, was very good. It's oddly over branded. So many things have the name of the restaurant on it. Glasses, plates, etc. We know where we are eating - it was odd and a bit distracting. The food was just average. We had the prime rib eggrolls ($14) and left them uneaten after the first bites. I don't know if they are trying their hand at on premises eggroll style shells, but they were terrible. It would've been better had they used pre-made rolls. And the filling was bland. The sauce that came with it was good - but we wouldn't order them again unless the recipe improved. We each had the tavern burger. They were amply sized, but suffered from way too much salt. My feedback to the cooks would be to skip the salt. I see it with cooks all the time - and the more salt you eat, the less sensitive you become to tasting it. Just leave it off. We can always add salt at the table, but we can never take out what the cook put in/on it. So for what we ordered, it's OK. But I don't know that either of us would want to go back. read more

Wow, this place is really good. Can't believe this place is so close to home. Upscale, classy and romantic but comfortable. Service was outstanding and we never felt rushed. You can go all out here and celebrate with a steak and cocktails or have a more modest night with a beer and an amazing burger, or one of the many specials offered. I found this place last fall via OpenTable and my family along with myself were finally able to get here. We booked for a Friday evening. For starters, the parking isn't ideal. We managed to find the last spot. There's also not an ideal area for anyone to stand and wait for their table. The hostesses were so kind and kept apologizing because there wasn't a table ready for us at our time. However, we could see that the place was slammed and everyone was doing their best. We were seated to the right in a half booth/half table. It was a bit dark so it was slightly difficult to see the menu. Our server was incredibly busy but apologized relentlessly for not getting to us. Again, she was extremely busy so we know it wasn't intentional. She was able to answer all our questions in an efficient manner and make great suggestions. We started with the wing sampler and raw bar sampler. The wings were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The raw bar sampler was of great size. It was honestly nice having decent sized oysters with plenty of dipping sauces. My one son had a flatbread pizza, which he loved and ate the whole thing. My other son enjoyed his chicken and fries. I had the seafood fra diavolo which was excellent. It was a huge portion with a ton of flavor. My husband had wanted the prime rib sandwich but he was served a steak entree. He was really looking forward to the sandwich, however, he was incredibly grateful for the entree. I cant say enough good words for this restaurant. We are a couple who stopped for lunch and a beer. We were warmly greeted by the bartender, Earl, who was very engaging throughout our meal. We love fish n chips but have been sooo disappointed that we quit ordering any when eating out. I mentioned this to the bartender n he assured I would not be disappointed (,I've heard that before n was!) I decided to take a leap of faith and boy I WAS NOT disappointed. The fish was seabass and the breading was light n cooked to perfection. The fries were crispy and loved the Old Bay seasoning on top. Hubby had the BBQ brisket sandwich and said it was excellent. We met the chef, Dejon and complimented him on his culinary skill n presentation. The beer selection on tap was a nice selection of craft beers n domestic. All was fairly priced. Apparently they have a half price happy hour 4-6. I wished we lived closer so we could​ regularly patronize this wonderful establishment. !!! read more

This is one of our favorite neighborhood spots. The menu is vast enough that they give a variety of options for a wide range of palates. One of our favorite aspects of this location are there wonderful cocktails. The bartenders are excellent and consistent and so the drinks never disappoint. Always keep an eye out for seasonal features as there are often some of the best things to order on that night. It tends to draw an older crowd and some families, so well it's not a party spot, the bar is fairly lively if you want to come by yourself and watch the game on TV. read more

They did a good job with interior renovations but no changes the the parking lot which is not well laid out and i'm sure accidents happen all the time with people trying to maneuver around cars. Service was bad, we waited 25 min for someone to take our order and another 30 for food. And we all ordered sandwiches. If we hit any other place we would have been done in an hour instead it was a full 90 min process. And they were not very busy and seemed to have a full staff on. No manager or leadership in the restaurant or if there was they never came out on the floor that we saw. Crab cake sandwich was cold and tasteless. Roast beef sandwich should be called a cheesesteak because the beef quality was not great those were cold also. The pulled pork was lacking sauce or flavor needed to request more sauce. French onion soup was good but also served luke warm. For the price point they need to be better and fast. Plenty of other options soon to open in this area. read more

We went for an adults night out. We had the scallops with risotto, fish and chips, sample appetizers, summer salad, which was a special, and apple salad. Food came out relatively fast and was really good! Service was a little slow but not terrible. My friend had to ask for a straw for her water three times and I had to ask for an iced tea twice. We sat outside since it was a nice night. There were a couple pesky flyer and knats, which a ceiling fan would help take care of but not enough to make us go inside. Over all enjoyed enough to travel 30 minutes to go again. read more

First visit to Kings, had a reservation which is encouraged. The dining room is not that big, low ceiling, dark, and no booths. Service was just fine, the food was average. Tried the crab cake sandwich, and a side salad. It also came with fries. They did give a complimentary chip & dip snack, a little spicy but tasty.
