My friend and I stopped in on a late Sunday afternoon. The bartender greeted us shortly after arriving, and helped us clear a spot at the bar. We had a round of beers. Sierra was super friendly as were many of the patrons. So a friendly atmosphere, old Irish pub vibe mindfully kept as is. They had just celebrated their 30th anniversary over the weekend and it sounds like a place that is good to patrons and their staff. Spacious for gatherings and have two pool tables and dart boards. They do not serve food so don't come hungry but good for some drinks and socializing. I can definitely see this establishment being a Cheers situation as they make you feel welcome even for new patrons. read more

I frequent Limericks Pub often. It is a staple of Syracuse nightlife, and you can find areas of the pub to socialize or relax and enjoy drinks with your friends. However, last night I had a very unpleasant experience with a female bartender, Bridget, who approached me in a group of people and said, "I'm going to need you to be quiet." Mind you, it was past 10:00pm on a Saturday. This is the first negative experience I've had at the Pub, and it was solely due to the staff's impoliteness stemming from their own personal issues with the noise level of the Pub. It's a bar on a Saturday night, people drink, people are going to be loud. If you don't like it, maybe you should consider finding another profession? read more

Great service and drinks. The bartender Friday night (forgot her name) was super friendly. She remembered my drink order several times plus made an amazing long island. The bartenders and staff are very rude and don't approve of anyone under the age of 40 coming into the bar. The beer selection blows and they don't even have steel tip darts. The pool table is falling apart and the building looks like it may collapse at any time. The place is musty, dirty, and the bathrooms are disgusting. I have never been treated as rudely as I was tonight by Trish, the bartender on staff this afternoon. Instead of greeting me in a courteous and professional way, she demanded I promise not to cause any trouble. I asked her to explain, and instead of answering my question, she tried to deflect the point back to me by saying if I didn't know what she was talking about, then I was that bad. I was so stunned, I didn't know what to say, so I left. I didn't swear, threaten anyone, or anything else. I got up and she threw a fit as I was walking out, screaming about how she was going to tell her boss. The curious thing is that I hadn't set foot in the Limerick since before the pandemic started, and when I did, a different bartender waited on me and everything was fine. Went recently on St. Patrick's day. I have been here before and while it's nothing fancy it serves the bill. We got served right away and drank our beers for the next part of our st Patrick's day tour. It was half packed and the bartender served us right away for the drinks and for closing out the bill. The place has a couple of pool tables, darts and some computer bar games. In the summer there are a couple of tables on the Walton side which is nice to people watch. I love The Limerick! When I worked nearby I used to stop in for happy hour regularly. Jamie is a great bartender, he's been there for many years and he's a nice guy. They have a descent selection of beers you've heard of at reasonable prices, unlike other bars in Armory Square that serve "exotic" beers at incredibly inflated prices to all the tourists. Decent bar. It's usually pretty dead there, just the normal barflys. Which is nice because there are 2 pool tables for $1 and a dart board. Bigger than it looks, a lot of people cram in this place on the weekends. Drinks are pretty cheap and the bartenders are heavy handed. Awful management. Pure Awful. We try to play buck hunter, and it takes our money and is apparently out of order without any sign stating so. We tell one of the bartenders and they just shrug it off. We order a few beers and the owner keeps staring at us the entire time. A few moments later, after a few sips, the owner throws a ten dollar bill at us (approximately our tab) and tells us that we were being disrespectful and didn't want us there and has the bouncers throw us out. Went in with friend for a few beers. Total of four in bar including the two of us. First and second round no problem. Finished the second, placed bottle to front of bar and sat for ten minuets while the bartender talked to the other two sitting at the end of the bar. Finally she looked up and I said gregarious bartender I'm dry.... she came over and screamed at me don't ever call me bartender. I said that is what you are doing tending bar. I typically visit this bar on a Thursday-Saturday night, when the others are shoulder-shoulder packed and too loud to have a conversation. It's a great bar if you want some space to breathe and play pool/darts or socialize. The selection of beers and liquor is limited, but that's not what their niche is. Al's for liquor, Blue Tusk for beer, Limerick for conversation and a game of pool. I understand why some reviewers say the staff comes off as rude/mean. They're generally an older staff (30s-40s), and they have their serious faces on to the average passerby, but they do a good job of keeping the place safe. I've found that if you show common courtesy and introduce yourself to them, they're actually all very friendly people. I've met a number of really cool people here, and hope more come out to share a laugh and a game of pool. read more

Good atmosphere, awesome back patio and reasonably priced drinks. Limericks is a great place to relax, enjoy one another's company and play some games (darts, pool, arcade, etc.). The bar tending staff is never friendly...it might just be because they're extremely quiet and do not engage in any conversation whatsoever. I usually stop in once a weekend for a couple drinks as a change of scenery from the fast paced, crowded downtown bar scene. However, after recent events I can honestly say that I will never return to Limericks which disappoints me as much it infuriates me. My group and I were forcefully and rudely removed from the pub for starting a "Let's go Crunch!" chant after the Syracuse Crunch hockey team won their second game in a row to bring the Calder cup finals back to Syracuse for game 6. I understand if this was too rowdy for an establishment such as Limericks, however we were completely blind sided as no warning or opportunity was given to correct our apparently uncouth behavior. What is even worse is that no official reason was given for the removal by bouncer and bartender (real mature on management's part), and it was done in a completely unprofessional manner. Go elsewhere if you want to have fun and show Syracuse pride because Limericks doesn't support either. read more

I loved getting glared at by the condescending bouncer as soon as I walked in the door only to be directed toward the stern and dull gentlemen that call themselves bartenders . Is it that hard to say "hello" to a paying customer? Apparently it is at limericks. Things started to get better as soon as I received my warm Guinness that was not given time to properly settle when poured. This is an Irish pub right? Fantastic. In the midst of a unforgettable night I had the privilege of warming the bottom of my shoes in the fresh urine covering the bathroom floor. Sadly the night ended too soon with a last call at 10:30pm. Terrible service. Went to a wedding at the Sky Armory and after the wedding everyone wanted to go to Limerick. There was over 20 people and the bouncer and bartender turned the bride down because she didn't have her ID. She is clearly over 21 and has been to Limerick plenty of times.
