Okay in all fairness I only had a shirley temple here. But I had an event here and it turned out great. Our mid-size group fit perfectly in the small bar/tables area and made it feel like a huge crowd of excitement. The owner was very easy to work with in asking for the space and even offered us free admission to a band's gig at the pub he owns next door. I will definitely be back. read more

My friend and I stumbled upon this place while trying to find a place for post-dinner drinks and good music. BEST decision of the night! Drinks were on point, live music was phenomenal and Megan and Rebecca were kick ass bartenders. I have not had better service at a hopping bar ever. I don't get this place, but my white friends seem to love it so YAY! I usually almost go here late on the busier days of the week. It really bothers me that you have to pay a cover to get in. As you walk in you'll see the bar filled to the brim with people eating popcorn. Take a shot of Irish car bomb repeat x2. Then all the sudden the room fills up with the sound of ridiculous attempt of Irish folk songs, by this old man who will harass you till you buy him a drink and you will like it because the car bombs are making you happy. And then a few more shots here and there and you wont even mind the smoke that has now permeated into your clothes and even more important your lungs, you will love everybody, everybody will be your friend. Now you feel like a champ, your capable of enjoying human interaction after all. You're having so much fun you might even forget to check in, yes is does that to you. Then, hopefully by the end of the night you remember to close your tab and tip your bartenders accordingly because they really are awesome, It's enough that they've put up with your drunk ass all night. So, of all of the places in our neighborhood that we ventured to in our quest for places to watch post-season baseball, this is the place we returned to the most. First off, sentimentality points for this being where I saw B-Weezy through the pitch that put the Giants into the Division Series and also helped scoot the Braves into the Division Series (to beat them in a game I got to SEE here in Atlanta and almost got myself KILLED because I was wearing my Lincecum jersey!) I also saw a performer of (NOT JOKING) Irish songs get drunk (NOT KIDDING!) on Guinness (STILL NOT JOKING!) and get belligerent (I SWEAR I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP OR TRYING TO PERPETUATE CULTURAL STEREOTYPES) towards a group of people who were loudly cheering for some college sports team while he was playing and refused to go back on (he later returned and got the whole bar to sing along to a rousing rendition of "Whiskey in the Jar.") It's a small place and they sometimes have a cover charge which I *get* is the only way musicians get paid (because I am one), but from a patron perspective it makes me feel all whiny. But they have nice beers on draught and free popcorn and live music and TVs (which, in Irish singer's defense, they should really make a commitment to prioritizing one or the other and not trying to have sports playing while people are performing, because from a musician perspective it would make me feel stabby.) And it gets pretty smokey but if you're FEELING smokey, that's not a bad thing. And if you're not, then there are other places you can go. But with the combo of sports, popcorn, music, and beer, it's a great little neighborhood spot that you can find yourself comfortably spending a surprising amount of time in. Like, almost a whole baseball game's worth of time. And I love me some baseball, but those games can be LOOOONG. read more

It's amazing how much Limerick has changed since I started going in 2002, but it's all pretty much for the good. Best part: FREE POPCORN!!!!!! When Chris Ricker is singing, it's always a good time, and Bud is the best cantankerous bar tender. The food is also more expensive now, but has gone more "upscale," so it's a fair trade, I suppose. They make this great apple cider beer that tastes like soda. Yum! And on a Friday, if you're there before 9, you pretty much own the place. I ate their veggie burger, which tasted like chicken. Not a bad thing, though I have to say that was a first. Everything else smelled extra yummy, too. Decent prices, pretty clean, and the smoke didn't get thick until the place became packed. Also, (a little tip) park across the street at the xmas tree lot. It's the same price as parking everywhere else, but the lot's totally empty. Also, if you try to leave when the folky-singer get's going, it'll hurt his feelings. So be sure to compliment him on your way out. read more

The "classic reuben" was disgusting. It was soggy & chewy. I did not get silverware or the sauce I asked for. This is the worst reuben in the city. Not only that but it took forever and we were the only people there. read more

So we ordered drinks 5 minutes before last call, waitress forgot we ordered drinks, and kicked us out when we were obviously waiting for our uber driver. Bad experience. Will not be returning to this bar. Service was sub par. The music was good. But one server/bartender was very touchy and when asked not to touch me she became aggressive. This single handedly ruined my experience. All I was asking for is not to be touched. read more

Been coming here since college in 80s. Was greater place then. Makes or breaks with music, so bar service needs to be consistent. Its tough when you attend and the bartenders claim no one is waiting on tables and all pours are an inch low on the glass. Was a better place in 80s, but if you get a bartender that knows what they are doing, you may have a good time! read more

I watched the World Cup at Limerick almost daily for a week while I was visiting Atlanta from Chicago. Gordon in a wonderful bartender and his staff are very attentive and extremely courteous. The place was packed during the US-Ghana game and the atmosphere was electric! The food is decent and I enjoyed the full Irish breakfast and the potato babycakes I ordered. There is a great selection of beers on tap and while I didn't try any myself, I saw several regulars enjoying their cocktails and shots. The TVs available are positioned very nicely so that you can see at least one from every place in the pub. Definitely recommend a visit or three! read more

Food is kinda awful. I don't recommend getting anything that isn't fried. Live music is okay, but way, way too loud. The place is pretty small, so I'm pretty sure an unamplified guitar and no mic would work just fine. They attempt to pour a Guinness properly, which counts for something, but not much. Go on a Monday for $1 PBRs before heading somewhere else. read more

"I hope you have a stillborn child", is what the comedian said to my wife and I because we were talking with friends at our table durning his, "show". My wife and I went with friends for one of their comedy nights, and it was far from impressive. The MC, I believe his name was Tim, was great... Far funnier than the comedians we were subjected to. We joked with him a bit. The first guy just yelled with this strange aggressive attempt at comedy. The second guy wasn't bad at all, but the third guy was just off. I guess he was hoping we would heckle him from the earlier talks with the MC, but while talking with my friends, we were not only verbally assaulted, but he told us that we deserve to have a stillborn child. I might be a bit behind on modern comedy, but that is just a bit desperate and sick to me. To top it off, the manager, "Sean", asked us to leave. I'm unsure what his relationship with this attempted comedian was, but he told me I was, "upsetting the dynamic of the bar" because his "friend" freaked out over me talking with my friends. I would suggest that the owners find someone better to manage their bar, and patrons to find another comedy club. read more

All around unpleasant place. They really are wound so tight, that it explains the tension that begins when dealing with bouncers in the Highlands that think they're working a velvet rope in the Meatpacking District. It continues once you get in to the bar, and you realize that it isn't consistent with the rest of the Highlands. Zero sense of humor...I guess it's probably worth selling out as a bar owner if people continue to pack the place. I was asked to leave almost immediately upon entering and was refused a refund on a beer I didn't touch. Don't waste your time, just go to Atkins Park or Fontaines, they actually appreciate your business. And, they don't charge a cover. read more

Limerick is the best Irish pub in Atlanta and probably the best in the Southeast. The staff is friendly and the drinks are reasonable. The food is pretty solid too - big improvement from a few years back. But the thing that makes this place so good is the music. The guys they have in there are always good and the crowd always seems to respond to whoever is playing. It is hard not to have fun in a place like that. read more
