We wanted to check this place out because Andina has made us fans of Peruvian food. We went at 5:30 on a Friday and it was a ghost town. This was everyone else's loss - the food was outstanding. I ordered the lomo saltado, which was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. My wife ordered shrimp fried rice, which was a pretty simple dish but still delicious. We got sides of fried yucca and plantains, both great. The dipping sauce for the bread is good but the bread is a cheap store bought loaf. Portions were enormous, especially at their price point. The food here is awesome, but the dining room could use some work. It's definitely a hole in the wall, which is fine, but the tile floor and rickety tables feel like a fast food joint. I think this will become an amazing take out option for us. read more

This place was amazing! After many years of living in South America, I have spent just as many years longing for Peruvian food in the Portland area. The best I've found is El Inca in Gresham, but it's quite far and has a fairly limited menu. I am SO glad Lima opened, and I'm also thrilled that it surpassed my expectations. We went with a group of 7, and prepared ourselves to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, since it opened so recently. However, that was totally not necessary - even though it hasn't been around long, it is doing a great job! The food came out very quickly (and perfectly timed), the service was excellent, and most importantly - the food was totally authentic and super flavorful. Everything we ordered was great, including the sudado de pescado, sudado de mariscos, ceviche mixto, papa a la huancaina, chupe de mariscos, lomo saltado, tallarin de mariscos, etc. No complaints whatsoever about any of the dishes - oh, and the portions were HUGE (easily enough for two people to share). Desserts were great too - we had leche asada and suspiro limeno, and both were excellent. The chica morada also tasted fresh and not the powdered kind that can be bought in stores. I hope this place stays in business - it's the kind of Peruvian food that I've been waiting for years to have in Portland. I do have three suggestions though for the owners - 1. A Peruvian restaurant without pisco (and pisco sours) is quite surprising. Perhaps it's something you'd consider adding to the menu? 2. I've been dying to have pulpo al olivo, and would love to see it on the menu. 3. The chupe de camarones was delicious, but I've always had it with pieces of goat cheese or queso fresco. Last minute decision to go to this little strip mall location in Beaverton based on a recent inclusion of this place in Cheap Eats section of the newspaper. Wow, what a great decision, it was terrific. Very low key, unsophisticated, simple dining room,which probably seats about 50 folks. We loved our meal, it was tasty and fresh and delicious. My sense is that the food is very authentic since many of the guests were Latinos and a big group of regulars were waiting for a big table to be put together. This place is so so tasty, with delicious sauces, tender and seasoned meat, and quick service! This place definitely has a "hole in the wall" feel, so don't come expecting something fancy. However, it's clean and I want to try everything on the menu! I ordered what seems to be a popular dish on the reviews, the Lomo Saltado. This is some EXCELLENT comfort food, people. After many years of searching, my journey has finally come to an end. I have been looking for this particular way of serving lomo saltado for almost a decade. Portland has other places to get good Peruvian food but I have specifically craving the way it is served here at Lima: a scoop of rice, fries and veggies and steak... with green and yellow sauce. These folks really know how to do seafood...and that is a talent rarely found in this neck of the woods! We've been there twice with friends and we've each tried a different seafood dish. All were excellent, tender and flavorful. No tortillas or refried beans here. This is a completely different type of cuisine that is a breath of fresh air. They serve bread, pasta, fried plantains, potatoes and steamed rice for their starches. If you like fish and seafood, you can't go wrong with their mussel appetizer, any prawn dish, steamed or fried or any mixed seafood dish. Their ceviche dishes are excellent! Servings are generous and service is personable. The atmosphere is casual and un-rushed. They serve Peruvian sodas and beer which I understand from our Peruvian friend are not often available in other places. It is a cozy little laid back place to relax and enjoy Next time we will be trying their soups and chicken dishes which are appear very popular with their Latino customers. I had the whole restaurant to myself. It was quiet but nice. The food was a little spendy but fair, with most meals costing $10-$15. Frankly, I could've made what I had at home, but it was delicious. Don't remember what it was called in Spanish, but it was basically steak mixed with French fries, tomatoes, and grilled onions and it was served with a side of rice. It cost $12.25. First let's start with my knowledge of Peruvian food. I met my wife in Peru and spent 7 years as a tour guide in Peru,imported goods from there and have a step daughter who is a chef in Lima. So I can say that I have eaten in 100s of Peruvian restaurants in Peru and dozens in this country. In all price ranges. This is hands down the best that I have eaten in the US. Went there with several friends and family members. Food 5 stars,service 5 stars,price 4 stars,decor,location,4 stars. Tried several items on the menu all were great. As good as u can get with the ingredients that we have here. Trust me you have know idea just on the potatoes there are 1000s YES that many in Peru. So very hard to be exactly the same and they have more chili's than we see in the market. To sum it up you will not go wrong here if you want traditional Peruvian food. read more

We would always get almost the same food items. Late though, as the restaurant's popularity has increased, it has gone down the same avenue as every restaurant in the area that gains some momentum. Worst Service ever. The waitress was awful got my order wrong and on top of that argued with me about it. She told me if I didn't pay for it (for something I didn't order) she had to pay according to their policy. If I had an employee speaking like that to a customer she would got fired on the spot. A hidden gem! Home-style Peruvian food at its finest. Last time I went they had lucuma ice cream on special for the weekend, it made my day. I have had peruvian food a few times in the last 15years. By no means, im a conossiur. But i couldnt quite decide if i had liked enough to give it a 4 stars. First, i started out with the fried plantains. They didnt taste that ripe. Lacked flavor. i love me some good plantains. (Lived on them during my vacy in costa rica). Then ordered the variety seafood ceviche. Squids, octopus, and shrimp were oh so just perfectly cooked, but the overpowering of the citrus sauce was a tad too much. Next time, either i will ask the sauce on the side or 1/2 as much. Finished off with pescado (fish with the macho creamy sauce) came with a side of rice. The presentation was ever so beautiful. I wanted to devour whole thing in one big gulp. But the taste didnt quite measure up. It was just ok. I dont know where i went wrong here. I think i will give it another chance before i completely lose enthusiasm. read more

I am Peruvian and so I usually have pretty tough expectations when it comes to Peruvian food. This place passed with flying colors after my first visit. I personally had the Chorros a la criolla as an appetizer which were some of the best I've had. My main dish was the aji de gallina and although I would have liked it to be a bit more spicy, the taste was still on point. All were brilliant and just a little different from anything I'd ever tasted. Expectations were high as I came here based on a review that compared it to Andina. Not accurate. Complete opposite. Really disappointed as it was going to be a nice night out. The photos look great it's hard to believe. The texture of the steak was so weird. The best ceviche I've had in Portland. This little gem of a restaurant steps it up the Peruvian good scene in the metro area a great deal. The citric acid cured seafood is delicious and complimented by the crisp sweet red onions. The succulent broth of the parihuela was delicious by itself and filled with seafood. I will be back. The food is great every time we eat here. Today we tried the Anticuchos de corazón de Rez with boiled corn and potatoes. The boiled potatoes were finished on the grill which imparted an incredible flavor. After the meal, the staff graciously worked with us to allow us to purchase a pound of potatoes cooked this way which we plan to take home and use in potato salad for the Fourth of July. My wife never eats ANY fish or seafood type food and loves the choices here but today she couldn't stop eating my Pescado a Lo Macho a La Crema. The cream sauce was excellent, and the fish, completely smothered, still had an amazing crunchy breading that was the tastiest I've ever had. Great people making great food.
