Service was great! The food was Amazing! We had boiled shrimp. They went great with the homemade Cajun ranch sauce. I had the Tomatoe Jackie. My husband had a roast beef poboy. The tomato Jackie is four fried green tomatoes smothered in a Cajun sauce with Crawfish and a lemon wedge. I put some of the homemade Cajun ranch sauce on top of it and it tasted even better! The first time I went there, I had an 1/2 Oyster/ 1/2Shrimp Po-Boy. I had more than I could eat of some of the best cooked stuff. The fried items were plump and juicy, and their rolls are NOLA style (I think they're "imported" from there). I'm still not ready to "suck heads" on their boiled crawfish, but I noted a couple of families, including kids 5-14, going through a couple of buckets while we ate. They must have something to offer, and I may get brave one of these days. It has now become a favorite place on Thursdays, when they ofer a dozen Oysters on the half-shell for 6 Bucks. Was in Lil Rays Saturday night, March 2nd, usual busy Saturday night for crayfish season. We sat down at 7pm and was not approached by the waitress until 7:28pm and she had a bad attitude, we were starting to order and she interrupted us and said there a table of 9 orders ahead of you. was extremely rude, we have been going to Lil Rays before Catrina, and in the last year and half have been almost every week and estimate of 4 to 6 of us, add up that bill. we know we have spent $3K to $4k over this time. This mature waitress has had a bad attitude for a long time, hope she's not a family member, this has now caused us to look for other nice seafood restaurants. This place is over rated to me. I think Shaggy's is better. Catfish batter way too thick. Side fries about McDonald's quality. Shrimp are okay but nothing special. Service fair. Just made it back from Mississippi; visiting the parents and my Grandmother, and had a chance to eat at Lil Rays. The restaurant was very clean and had a calm feel to it. The menu is stacked with all sorts of seafood and I know my parents really enjoy dining here. My Wife and I were happy to join them on this trip and we were both satisfied with our lunches and beers. Service was good and the food hit the spot! We will definitely be back when we return to Mississippi. read more

My husband and I have eaten at lil rays for over the past 20 years....Bay Saint Louis and now Long Beach. Sadly Long Beach has lost its quality of food. My husband's ham and roast beef po'boy was a total mess, the ham could not be eaten. On a good note the only things worth eating are the fried crab claws and onion rings. That's it and sadly we will not eat there any more. read more

This place is 1 of the reasons I'm ok with being so far from home. On Wed and Thur they have $6 for a dozen oysters and $5 pitchers. So that's pretty much all I eat there. You can't really mess oyster's on the half shell up. read more

I grew up on the Coast and ate Lil'ray's pretty much weekly in Gulfport for many years. Make no mistake, the Long Beach location is not the same management as Gulfport and the food is no where near the same in quality. It was greasy, overpriced and seemed like food bought frozen from Sysco instead of the fresh, delicious seafood I was accustomed to in Gulfport. Will not spend money there again. read more

I have been eating at Lil'rays since 1988. I have been in the one in Waveland, Gulfport and Biloxi. This on is in Long Beach and is post Katrina. I have had this problem before. Even though all the restaurants are owed by the same person, it seems to change from location to location. The one in Waveland was always great where as the Biloxi one was never very good. I find the same true in Long Beach. Not the quality I am used to. Had the Oyster Po'boy, kind of skimpy on the oysters, over fried and stale bread. Not good. Sorry, I wanted it to be. My wife had the same problem with the shrimp po'boy. Cold and skimpy, and the shrimp did not taste like gulf shrimp. Please fix the problem. read more

Considering I'm a vegetarian I tried the fried green tomatoes & fried pickles. The fried green tomatoes were definitely over priced. $7 for 4 slices of tomato with little flavor. On the menu it says that it is topped with parmesan cheese but it wasn't. The fried pickles were suppose to come with ranch AND honey mustard but only came with ranch & they didn't taste hand breaded which was also $7. Won't be going back. read more

GROSS. Don't eat here. My salad consisted of old, wilted, dried out and brown lettuce. The waitress told me the lettuce came out of the bag that morning and that "tossing it around" the plate would help. Wtf. She then ran away an didn't return to the table for 20 minutes. Disappointed! I walked in at lunch and there was nobody eating. I should have walked out. I had the catfish poboy that was all bread lettuce and tomato with a tiny piece of catfish. I must say the 2 ladies working were awesome so I will change my 2 stars to 3. read more

I got the recommendation for Lil Ray's off Yelp, it was WORTH it. Went for a late lunch, so it was pretty quiet. Had the Royal Reds. OMG! Delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The potatoes were nicely spiced. And, the waiter was cute and helpful! Definitely worth a visit. read more

Decided to try this place one day even tho it has been here for years just as I have been but that was definitely an unwise decision. I could not possibly explain how it is they can legally charge so much for the horrible and pathetic items they call "food". The table attendant was sweet, kind, helpful & considerate. That is the ONLY decent thing about this establishment. It started with the very inconvenient "parking" & went straight to hell in a handbasket situation. My two sons & I all ordered po boys. My eldest son & I both ordered hot ham & cheese with mayo only. My youngest son ordered an open faced roast beef po boy with mayo & lettuce & gravy only, one side of French fries because the po boys come with NOTHING plus we ordered 2 sweet teas and one Dr. Pepper. We waited only a very short time then received our order. I literally looked at the table attendant & asked her if she really expected us to eat this. The bread was so tough and chewy, we could not swallow it without the help of liquids to soften it up. The roast beef was stringy, fatty, greasy and cold to the touch. The lettuce, which fell off the po boy onto the plate was brown, wilted & a bit "slimy" looking. Our 2 hot ham & cheese po boys we also chewy & touch as hell. They were both cold to the touch and there was 2 little pieces of thinly sliced "ham" with barely enough Swiss cheese on it to make it a "hot ham & cheese". Like I said earlier, the po boys come with NO sides so we ordered ONE order of fries. The order consisted of 11 hallow, crunchy, grease filled "French fries" which were disgusting. It's pretty bad when you sit there wondering how they get off charging so much for such a pathetic attempt on "lunch" but when the table attendant herself says, "I am so sorry it's not going to be enough for yal but I can get you anything you might like to fill u up just let me know"! We ate enough of it ( 2 or 3 bites) to know it was not eatable so we paid the check and left. No wonder the parking lot is always empty. Now I know why!!!! AMB read more

po'boys were good. the catfish po'boy was excellent and evident that the fish was fresh. the shrimp po'boy was good, but because of the amount of breading and lack of shrimp flavor made me think it was frozen, processed shrimp. the bread, which they say is brought in fresh daily from New Orleans was definitely great. don't get the fries, if you go. $1.95 for a serving of frozen fries-they should have been included with the purchase, certainly not sold for that amount. i suggest if you want fries, stop by McD's first-their's are definitely better. read more

We like this one more than the one on Courthouse Road, the food is better and the dining room is more open. I always order the fried pickles, they are outstanding and the creole ranch is killer. The lunch specials are really great as well. Whether it's half gumbo and half po boy or fish tacos the meals are always good. read more

YUCK! Went to enjoy the Royal Reds. They were just over - boiled shrimp. Waitress said that the Royal Red season was coming to an end and that is the reason for the texture and size. I downloaded yelp just to write this review because I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant more in my life than I have today. To start off, they were out of everything. For a seafood restaurant, I would expect them to have seafood. They were out of crawfish, oysters, and crab cakes which is basically 70% of the menu. After multiple attempts at trying to order something and being told they're out of it, I finally got very mediocre shrimp tacos. The tacos came with below average fries that lacked even a sprinkle of salt. My friend who ordered a tuna steak platter asked for a remoulade and the waitress had the audacity to tell her "are you sure it's 50¢ extra. Your friend has some maybe she can give it to you if she doesn't want it" to which my friend replied with "no 50¢ is okay". During our whole time there, we weren't given a single refill on our drinks even though I was down to just ice in my cup. The only time the waitress was pleasant towards us was when it was time for us to tip her. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would do it in a heartbeat. Never coming here ever again. read more

Worst lunch I have ever had in my entire life! My wife and I went here to get po-boys and we both ordered the cheeseburger po-boy. The meat was obviously frozen because it was nasty and taste like freezer burn. The po-boys were over priced, and cost more than pirates cove which is a great place to eat. My wife and I both ate one or two bites and almost threw up. We told the waitress and she got mad and said she would charge us anyways even though our food was not edible and we only took less than two bites. WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO LIL RAYS AGAIN! Had dinner here last night and I must say I was really impressed. We started with a couple lbs of crawfish and they were great. Nice size, good flavor. Next was the shrimp and corn chowder, very good. We split the royal red shrimp entree and they were excellent. Even my side salad was fresh and the home made spicy ranch dressing was so delicious I was dipping everything in sight in it. Finished up our meal with the bread pudding and it was pretty darn good. I enjoyed the lemon flavoring in the sauce. We also had a beer each and our check was still a very reasonable $52. Can't beat that. Horribly gone bad in Long Beach. Had dinner last night at Lil Rays for the first time in about a year and what a difference a year makes, the cooking staff must have turned over. We had the grilled grouper, a salad and a po-boy. The fish was not cooked properly as it wasn't white or flaky and second, it wasn't even grouper! I don't know what they substituted for grouper, but it was a thin small fillet of something. Even after we sent it back to be grilled long, it was still pretty tasteless. Also had the seafood gumbo which tasted more like watered down tomato and rice soup with a few small shrimp and crab meat. We used to enjoy the food there and came often and the place was usually pretty packed. There were only six patrons and when we left at 6:30 PM. no one else was there. Guess many are similarly disappointed. Won't be going back to the Long Beach location, we'll try Gulfport next time. read more

I expect more from a beach side town, but no dice. Draft beer is almost enough to sooth the disappointment. Almost. This is one of those places that EVERY person I know recommends.
