While in Broken Arrow running an errand, we realized it was noon and no one had eaten yet... After a short and informal poll, we realized we were all feelin' a mite peckish, and some good food would remedy that. The question was.... where to get that good food..... So I whipped out my phone and consulted my trusty Yelp! app, which steered me to Lilly's Diner in Catoosa. Now, to be fair, we were already at 51st and 193rd, so were were almost midway. Don't want you BA people feeling neglected or anything. Having head great things about Lilly's and seeing their 5 star rating in Yelp! I felt safe in heading that direction. We arrived to a nearly full house, but found a great little booth in the corner just our size. Our server got right on it with menus and drink orders. After looking over their menu, we finally made our choices. Except for The Kid, who having spotted Spaghetti and Meatballs, was through with that whole decision thing. The Wife opted for a Western Omelet and I, true to form went the Chicken Fried Steak route. To be fair, I generally try to eat fairly healthy, but once a week or so, I drop the rules and just go at it, and today was that day. Within a reasonably short time frame, food was on the table. The Kid's pasta was nothing short of awesome. The marinara sauce would rival some of the higher end Italian joints around Tulsa with no problem. The meatballs were hot, moist and full of flavor. The only minus, and it's just being picky, was the grated parmesan on top as opposed to a freshly grated variety, but again.... that's just me being nit-picky. It was outstanding as it was. The Wife's breakfast order was visually appealing and the taste matched that at every turn. She shunted over about 1/3 of her hashbrowns to me and still had much more than she could eat. I sampled the omelet, which was light, flavorful and everything a good omelet should be. The browns were cooked as perfectly as you can get them, and the biscuit and gravy could stand on their own. Light and fluffy biscuit and a smooth flavorful gravy with just a hint of sweetness in there. I'd asked before ordering if the CFS was scratch made in house, and our server told me that yes.... oh yes, it is. So with that, my expectations were up just a notch. I was not disappointed. Thick enough to have two sides, the meat was flavorful, juicy and fork tender. The breading was light and full of flavor, and there was ample gravy to go around. The mashed potatoes were good, but let's face it, unless you're raising the bar on your spuds, they're usually just there to anchor the plate, and not much more. Again, these were still really, really good. The green beans were tender and had a slow cooked flavor that I enjoyed. I'll leave my final comment on the CFS by saying that had I not possessed a shred of dignity, I probably would have just licked the plate clean. Not only was it THAT good, it was THAT gone. All of it. Yep... I did that, and I ain't ashamed. Service was spot on, with our drinks being refilled regularly. Our server had the balance of being there enough and yet not being there too much. They were also promoting Lilly's 1 year anniversary on being open, and all I can say is that I wish them many, many more years being open because Tulsa NEEDS places like this. read more

I had the chicken fried steak and eggs, my eggs were cooked perfectly but my steak was a bit chewy. The gravy was good and the hash browns were good but not too hot and I ordered them extra crispy. Our service was friendly and helpful and we had a good experience. The ambiance is all American diner vibe and it's clean and cheerful. I think I'll try the biscuits and gravy next time. read more

Great breakfast with reasonable prices. The bacon is THICK. The sampler has 2 bacon, 2 sausage patties, two strips of bacon, 2 eggs, 2 cakes and potatoes. Staying across the street at the Holiday Inn, the desk clerk told me not to miss Lilly's. Tuesday evening at 7:00 and the place was fairly busy. I found a booth and ordered the special: chicken fried chicken with 2 sides. Mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The chicken nearly covered the large plate. Coating was light and crunchy, and the white meat was tender and tasty. Add a scoop of lumpy mashed potatoes (not likely to have come from a box) and cover liberally with white gravy. Yum! Broccoli was steamed perfectly with a sprinkle of seasoned salt (a half shake would have been enough, but it wasn't offensive. I thought I was full when I finished my meal, until the server offered a slice of coconut cream pie. I rarely order dessert, but I have a weakness for coconut, and one little slice couldn't hurt much, could it? Just a simple diner with great food. I'll be back next time I'm in town. read more

Had the CFS and the biggest complaint was that they served it to me with a steak knife. It should be illegal to do so because that meat was so tender I ate the entire meal cutting with my fork! Delicious! String beans were a bit bland but the corn and mashed potatoes more then filled me up. Fresh brewed sweet tea was great compliment of a drink. Just when I was about to ask them to roll me out of there I saw the guy next to me get a peach cobbler dessert. Who am I to say no to over-eating. Absolute must have. Really have come to love this place. So far Hubby and I have been here for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. And each meal has been fantastic. The food has been tasty and the service has been wonderful and attentive. For dinner I had the rib eye with the mashed potatoes and side of green beens, Also came with a side salad. Husband had the Spaghetti and Meatballs. His also came with a side salad. Everything was fresh and inviting. We will definitely be coming back for more of the very varied menu. We came in on a Saturday morning around 9:00 and we got sat down immediately, the waitress took our orders within 5 minutes and our food came out in around 15 minutes. Our waitress was attentive too! Come in hungry because you get plenty of food. The biscuits have got to be home made, they're so thick and flaky! We eat there last night. The food was great. My only complaint is that my fries were cold. The waiter Teresa was friendly and helpful. My daughter wanted curtain items so she suggested modifying one of there other meals. I'm sure we will be going back. Stopped here coming from the airport heading to Northwest Arkansas. Staff was very friendly! Food came out quick and hot. I had the Chicken Carbonara which was FABULOUS! Portion was HUGE! Wellll... I was hoping to give Lilly's 5 stars but I just can't. I met my parents for dinner and we ordered three totally different plates. I got the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. Average at best. I don't think the potatoes were real and the mac & cheese was not as good as Kraft. The chicken was fine but nothing special. Dad ordered an omelet with fried potatoes and his dish was good. Mom got a sandwich and it was fairly sad. The lettuce and tomato looked lackluster and the sandwich was small and on regular looking bread. Service was good and for a diner, the atmosphere wasn't bad. Prices were good. Food is good; the only miss is sometimes service is a bit off. Read on. The best meal is breakfast. Large portions, monster cinnamon rolls, great biscuits/gravy, all the items you expect in a diner cooked to order. Lunch and dinner are tasty. If you like Onion Rings, you hit a home run. Chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken are excellent. All entrees and sandwiches are good. There is room for improvement with some of the sides like green beans, corn, and brown beans are canned. Fries, mashed tators, and okra are fresh. Service, for the most part, is acceptable. Sometimes excellent, others OK, and sometimes slow. It depends on which waitress table you get. Thumbs up overall--good food, large portions, excellent value, clean, with decent service.
