A long tall counter in a cramped dining room
Eddie H.

A cool October morning and a visit to Port City Diner, a small almost cramped dining room with a tall counter and some good food. A short distance off the highway this personifies the spirit and food of a classic truck stop diner. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with biscuit and gravy with hash browns. The CFS was well done with crispy but thick breading and tenderized beef. It was tasty and satisfying. The biscuit was fluffy and tender and the gravy thick and creamy with minimal pepper, just right in my opinion. The hash browns were fine. Not over or undercooked just good standard hash browns. Don't expect quirky takes on classic recipes just properly done diner food with friendly service in a no nonsense atmosphere.

A working man's diner with a menu that will please everyone! Big plates and fair prices, especially the $6.99 Early Bird Breakfast. Lunch specials every day. Don't pass up the fresh, diner made onion rings. Oh! Wow! For me a filling meat loaded club sandwich with those rings on the side. The club sandwich was outstanding. Meaty layers between buttered toast, lettuce and tomatoes. Mayo on the side. It wasn't needed. My wife had the big thick burger with crinkle cut fries. The pictures talk. Look at them. It is a small clean restaurant. Old time counter service and booths. Friendly attentive staff. The waitresses seemed to know everyone. And even if she didn't, she still treated them like welcomed friends. Check the big menu, there is something for you. Hint...Onion Rings!

Max Omelette and Cajun Chicken Omelette. Plenty to eat, fair price, yummy food.

Jackie gave us exceptional service at this great diner. Everything cooked perfectly, with large servings at a fair price. We love this place!!!

Loved this diner. Exactly what I was looking for. Tasty food. Quick service. Friendly staff. Comfy and clean.

We luckily found two seats at the counter, and this was at 11:30 am on a Sunday! I had the huge and loaded Max Omelette with coleslaw as my side. So yummy and filling. The servers were fun and attentive. The shower curtain partitions were comical for covid obviously. As we are all trying to get back to a sense of normalcy, this was a welcomed treat. Having traditional breakfast with my husband and all the noise was awesome! We loved it!

3 eggs with hashbrowns and bacon. Also the biscuits and gravy were quite nice.

Solid little diner!! The staff was friendly which is good considering how small the inside is. Maybe 35 or so customers max in here which is fine but be prepared to be cozy. The food I got was great and in large portions for a good price. Nothing fancy here so if that's what you want look elsewhere. If you're here for good quick food and friendly wait staff..... this is a good place to try out!

Doesn't look like much when you are driving past it, but the food is just delicious. This one of those "don't judge a book by its cover". Not only the food was great, the service was above and beyond. Waitresses greet you with a smile and are attentive to your needs.

First and foremost I must mention the entire wait staff. They worked in synch together. Good job guy! Christian was out waiter, polight and freindly young man. He was a perfect waiter, an example fot others for sure! My hubby ordered chicken fried steak with eggs and a B&G, I got a single egg, eating part of his hashbrown and chicken fry. The food is off the chain man, off the chain.

Great breakfast, service for the right price. Portions much larger than Cracker Barrel or any other chain-hole in the wall but go here!

A scrambled or fried egg can only get just so bougie, same for bacon, pancakes, etc. What makes a diner stand out from the rest? In my experience it's ingredients sourced from suppliers that are outside the mainstream, and excellent service. This isn't Tally's. Tally's is a celebration of the mediocre. Once, years ago, I ordered a breakfast burrito and I got a white log on a plate that sat under a heat lamp too long. There was no sauce on it or anything on the side, just a slightly stale tortilla wrapped around some filling. Meh... I went again this morning hoping for a better experience. I ordered the corned beef hash since it's not a typical diner breakfast. Though there were only a few tables occupied it took 20+ minutes to get my food, and though it had a decent enough taste there was a chalkiness to it that put me off. I also opted for a biscuit rather than the pancake that appears on the menu, and it had a sourness to it that I just couldn't figure out. The biscuit and gravy were cold too. The staff seem to be disinterested unless you're a regular. The toaster caught fire and required three fourths of the staff to deal with it. Also, while I waited they brought out a plate of food that was apparently today's lunch special, and the entire staff stood around it taking pictures with their phones while I watched from my booth. Even the cooks came out! They totally ignored everyone in the dining room. This went on for 10+ minutes. However, on the positive side, I see loads of people eating at Tally's every day! It's very popular! They also serve meals to service members and others at the Holidays, so credit where credit is due. I'm happy they support the community. Good on them for that! I wish more restaurants did the same. For that they get a second star.

Phill sold the restaurant to Tim after owning the place for 23 years in 2020 when COVID hits its peak. After buying the place, Tim has never bothered to change the name on Yelp but the name has been changed to Tim's Diner on Google. The best thing about this diner is all the original staffs continue to work for the establishment bringing over their experiences as well of plenty of attitudes. All the employees are a little of "older" age and I love that. The only thing I don't like here is the tip system. You pay at the cashier in the front who will ask you if you would like to add a tip then the cashier would add a tip in for you and you don't have to sign anything. I prefer if they just charge me for the amount and give me the merchant copy and I can add a tip in myself. The way they're doing it puts pressure on their customers to tip. This diner has Tim's $8 favorites menu which is one of the best features, making breakfast very affordable. The food is delicious.

The food options seemed endless and the menu was quite large and included breakfast to dinner items all day when they are open! I also noted milkshakes and rootbeer floats and the like - plus a display of cakes and pies for sale! I settled on breakfast with banana, strawberry Nutella crepes and scrambled eggs with bacon. The wife did the same. The food was excellent served like an old fashioned diner style setting and I started my breakfast with an appetizer slice of pecan pie. The kids each got a milkshake with hamburger for one and Mac n' cheese for the other. The server was friendly and helpful and her name was Rachel. The only negative that we might've had was the bathrooms were just a one stall so if there were somebody in there you had to wait. FYI on the way out the door we seen the display of desserts and had to get a pecan cinnamon roll to go
