    Amuse-bouche - from the kitchen

Ambiance and Decor The dimly lit space, with its earthy tones and soft candlelight, creates an intimate dining experience. The decor leans into a modern West Coast aesthetic--natural wood accents, warm textiles, and a refined yet unpretentious charm. It feels inviting, like a place where conversation flows as effortlessly as the drinks. Service Quality While the first round of dishes took a little longer to arrive than expected, the pacing soon found its rhythm. Servers were knowledgeable and ready with thoughtful recommendations, ensuring that even newcomers to Indian flavors felt at ease. Menu Variety Lila's menu is a thoughtful curation of Indian-inspired dishes reinterpreted with a West Coast sensibility. It leans heavily on vegetarian offerings, but the inclusion of seafood--like the Arctic char--ensures there's something for those who prefer a protein option. The selection is focused rather than overwhelming, making it easy to navigate. Food Taste and Quality For those hesitant about bold spices, Lila serves as the perfect introduction to Indian flavors. The dishes are well-balanced--aromatic without being overpowering, flavorful without excessive heat. The Organic BC Portobello Mushroom and Paneer Curry is velvety, the cumin-infused basmati rice soaking up the layers of spice and creaminess. The Roasted and Spiced BC Winter Squash brings a natural sweetness, while the Paranta provides the perfect vehicle to scoop up every last bit. Even the nonalcoholic Tamarind Ginger Ale and (alcoholic) Jungle Bloom added a refreshing contrast to the meal. Portion Sizes Portions are well-sized, striking a balance between generous and refined. While the dishes are shareable, they don't feel overwhelming, making it easy to sample a variety of offerings without overindulging. Price and Value For the quality of ingredients and execution, Lila offers a dining experience that feels well worth the price. It's not a budget-friendly spot, but neither does it fall into the realm of excessive indulgence. Overall Experience and Recommendation Lila is an unexpected gem, seamlessly merging Indian flavors with West Coast sensibilities. Whether you're a longtime lover of Indian cuisine or someone new to its spices and techniques, the approachable yet refined execution makes this an ideal place to explore. The vegetarian-forward menu, polished yet unfussy service, and inviting ambiance make it a spot worth returning to--especially with friends who appreciate a thoughtful, ingredient-driven meal.

What a fun experience. We tried most of their vegan items this time and I am impressed by their variety. We just barely made their happy hour so I managed to get their Pretty Hard Lemonade which was tasty and refreshing. The menu is designed to be shared and they recommend approximately 2 dishes per person which was pretty accurate. Now on to the food. Cauliflower and Potato Pakora: 10/10 came in a plate of 5. Decent size and for the happy hour price, it was very reasonable. Great flavour, well seasoned and the chutney was delicious. Highly recommended. White Bean and Kale Curry: 7/10 although my friend rates it 10/10 I found it a bit salty for me and lacked flavour compared to everything else we had. I expected a bit more heat with the jalapeno, but I didn't even notice it was there. Potato Tiki: 9/10 I loved the flavour. I'm a huge fan of the salty sweet, so the tamarind and blueberry mixed with the potato and chickpeas was the perfect combo. I would say the reason its 9/10 was because we both though the dish would be hot but it was a cold dish, and feel like it should have been noted on the menu. Black Chickpeas and Zucchini Cakes in Coconut Curry: 8/10 zucchini cakes could have used more flavour and the coconut curry, while good, wasnt as flavourful as I expected. Flavour was mild with just a touch of heat. The basmati rice was excellent. Super fluffy and cooked perfectly. Our service was great and attentive. Would love to come back and try the vegetarian/meat dishes one day.

A new restaurant on Main street, which I believe is associated with Vij's and the Acorn. Very plant forward restaurant with friendly service and surprisingly big (and warm) back patio area. Potato & Cauliflower Pakoras with Fresh Mango & Mint Chutney ($7 during happy hour) 7.5/10 Look, it's very hard to mess up fried food in general, but the fresh mango and chutney really takes it up a notch! This is one of the few food options for happy hour, so would recommend you take advantage of it. Halloumi Cheeese and Peas in 7 Spice Bechamel ($23) 8.5/10 My love for halloumi cheese might make me biased, but imo this is the best dish in Lila. Love how rick and thick the curry was, our friend couldn't stop dipping everything in it! Black Chickpea and Zucchini Cakes in Coconut Curry with Basmati Rice ($24) 6.5/10 A pretty interesting patty like curry. I like the coconut taste but felt like the curry was very watery. Cauliflower Sauteed in Cumin and Tomato Masala ($15) 6.5/10 Somehow this dish was also rather unmemorable to me. Pretty much what it says on the menu? Indian Mango Custard ($12) 8.5/10 The mango in combination with the blackberry jam is tdf. We underestimated this dish given how simple it looked but devoured it in minutes. Ginger Cardamom Chai ($3.5) 7.5/10 Nothing like a good old chai to warm you up when the weather gets chilly (and a portable heater). Very good chai with a nice kick.

Modern Indian restaurant. The garden patio is nice. Lots of vegetation options. The price is on the expansive side. Food is ok.

It was my first time having it and the savoury flavor profile was so intriguing. The mango shake was solid and good for cutting the spice of the dishes we got. Appetizers - chicken 65 was solid, hot and crispy and I loved the three sauces that came with it. The chicken samosa was also the perfect size and had a good amount of filling while keeping the crunch. Dosas - wow, the best in town! And so filling! The butter chicken dosa shocked me in terms of size and weight. The spinach masala dosa was also huge and I loved the thin crepe filled with spiced potatoes. Star of the show for sure! Mains - the biryani was also delicious as a rice dish and very filling. It went nicely with the veggie pakora, which was packed with crunch and spice. Overall amazing meal. Manpreet was also super kind and provided excellent service. Can't wait to come back to try more dosas - the menu is very extensive!!

Definitely, the sambar and chutney need some flavor, at least salt. The positive points I have given in this review are only for the dosa. Sorry to say, but the insane amount of time you take to serve your customers needs to improve. We waited close to an hour. Not kidding. I don't think anybody would want to come back again if this is how it is. This happened three times with us. Sorry, we won't be going back here again for this sole reason.

Nonetheless, service was quick, and our server was attentive. We started with a Mango Lassi and their Chennai Chicken 65 before moving on to their Paneer Butter Masala and Rajastani Lamb Masala. Of course, we also had to follow up with their Onion & Cilantro Naan! Our Mango Lassi tasted as expected and was smooth, soft, and delicate. That Chennai Chicken 65 was an amazing start to our meal, excellent seasoned and enough for three finger-lickin' tenders each! The onion & cilantro naan was tasty, though the toppings were easily masked by our curry and paneer. While both were only mild, they were both very tasty. I've had quite a bit of Indian food down in LA, and this easily ranks as one of the best dining experience for Indian food that I've ever tried. What surprised me most was that although it was on the darker side with the dark wood, it felt a little classed up with the coat hangers and interior decor. Perhaps it was the afternoon vibes, but somehow the atmosphere was gentle, relaxing, smooth - not quick or rushed at all. (The only rush was me constantly checking my phone in hopes of not missing my flight the next hour... what a mission!) 10/10 - would dine again!

We came here on a Monday afternoon around 6:30 and it wasn't too crowded. There isn't that much seating inside, just 5-6 booths that fit up to 4 people each. They've removed all the regular table seating inside for social distancing purposes. The menu is quite extensive, with plenty of appetizer and entree options to choose from. I love that you can also customize your own dosa, which I've never seen before. We shared: Vada ($6.25) - the vada was fried well and was the perfect crispiness on the skin. Went well with the sambar and various chutneys Vegetarian kothu paratha ($11.99) - this was my first time trying this dish, but it was a little bit too spicy for me. Essentially they take paratha, cut it up to small bits, and fry it with vegetables (or a protein of your choice). Was an interesting dish to see on the menu, and my other friends who can handle spice all enjoyed it Chicken biryani ($13.99) - my personal favorite dish of the night. The chicken was tender and the rest of the rice very flavorful. I wanted more of this! Masala dosa ($9.99) - pretty standard as far as dosas go
