This girl loves herself some grilled octopus, but I don't suck down those chewy tentacles very often because they're not as popular as say, CHICKEN, on a menu. Whenever I see them though, I always request them with GREAT EXCITEMENT... However, I have to say, my excitement withered away pretty quickly after my first bite because in all honesty, their octopus appetizer was bland... And the end of the tentacle was too charred for me to even taste any of its sweetness. Womp. Womp. I'm thrilled I also ordered a salmon entree, with crispy Brussels sprouts and was given a trio of fresh sashimi as well as a bite of the tuna poke because those three dishes were PHENOMENALLY executed, and I kid you not, I could have (and would have) eaten 3 more plates of salmon, ha! I was sitting next to an acquaintance who ordered the Bronzino and she gave me the head and tail of the fish (because she kicks ass) and WOW that fish was delicious! Succulent. Sweet. So good! I could have ordered one of those entrees for dessert, however, I instead opted to order more crispy Brussels sprouts because, UGH, so so so so so good! They served them up to me with no sauces or sweetness, and they were perfection (once I added salt but of course). Mmmm! My wife and I arrived at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne today to celebrate our 4th Anniversary (woot woot!!) and are amazed by all the great staff and service. After we settled in, we got hungry and remembered the hotel concierge recommended the Lightkeepers restaurant!! We got dressed, made our way down to Lightkeeper and got seated right Away!!! First of all, the ambience could use some help but once we got handed the cocktail menu and looked over some of the items... we were SOLD! I started with the Mr Thompson's Smoked Old Fashioned (which was made with LaPhroaig Scotch... thumbs up!) and my wife ordered the El Farito; SOOOO DELICIOUS!!! Once we had our cocktails; it was time for apps and food! Waiter said we can't go wrong with the "Keepers Wife's Biscuits," and he was right!! They were crusty and crispy on the outside glazed with honey and you could taste this essence of Bacon baked right into the flavor!!! Then came the main course! I can't turn down a God plate of handmade noodles so I went with the Pappardelle which was served with fresh clams and my wife enjoyed the NY Strip steak which was surrounded by a moat of the best chimichurri I've tasted!! it was soo good we finished every bite at the expense of overeating haha. I've been coming to Key Biscayne with my family for almost 30 years and have been constant visitors of the Ritz Carlton on Key Biscayne. We have a townhouse next door so we love walking the beach over! We were very familiar with the last restaurant that Light Keepers replaced. Light keepers is a welcomed change. It is great for a nice date night and also great for a nice lunch outside on the terrace. The sommelier Jorge has been a long time member of the ritz team and is just amazing. My favorites here include the Beet + Burrata (a must try), the Whole Branzino and the "tomato fondu" appetizer. I was not impressed with the crudo, especially for the price. I love crudo but these didn't do it for me. Enjoy a glass of wine while looking over the ocean. It's heaven here! read more

We had a great dinner night at this impressive restaurant. We had a full course Miami Spice dinner and it was absolutely delectable. For the appetizer, I chose the raw oysters whereas my wife ordered the beet salad. The presentation was excellent, and the beet salad had an amazing medley or flavors that you wouldn't expect. For the entrée, I had the steak and my wife had the snapper. Needless to say, the steak was cooked to juicy perfection and the red snapper was grilled just right. As far as the dessert, it definitely has to be one of the most quirky and exotic ones I've tried. It was like a meringue filled with coconut sorbet on top of a bed of guava and passion fruit pieces... amazing! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

I visited Lightkeepers this past Saturday for my 28th birthday brunch, and was surprisingly let down. The service was incredibly slow. I'll give it to our waitress, she was nice, but sometimes nice doesn't cut it when you're paying Ritz prices. She took forever to bring out all of our items, and forgot my drink twice. After reminding her, she blatantly said she forgot (twice). By the way, the place was empty. Not a soul sitting inside, and maybe only 5 tables occupied outside on the most gorgeous day, making it even more strange. My husband and I decided to do bottomles for $25 pp including beers, mimosas, bloodys, sangria, and brunch punch. I disliked all of the mixed drinks & settled with mimosas. The sangria was terrible. Extremely bitter without any fruit served in what looked like a water cup. The sangria tasted like cheap red wine over ice! I then went for the brunch punch, hoping it would be nice and refreshing, and I did not like that either. The drink was unfortunately tangy & watered down. We started with the Keepers Wife Biscuits & those were actually very good, although we could not taste the bacon in them. The menu states "Keez Beez honey glaze, bacon essence." We then ordered our entrees. Hubby ordered the Miami Hash and described it as "not bad" more so very average. The biggest disappointment (besides the service) was my chicken and waffles. The fried chicken was good, but nothing special really. The waffles were disgusting! They were cold, dry, and extremely cakey! I wish we enjoyed the food more because the ambiance is fantastic! I was invited to join some friends for dinner on 12/24/2017 at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Key Biscayne. I arrived 30 min late but my friends waited for me enjoying some very well prepared and delicious cocktails. When I found the lobby of the hotel to my surprise there were no signs for the location of the restaurant and wasted time locating someone who gently indicated me the way to the Lightkeepers Restaurant. Since it was a nice warm evening we decided to eat outside. My first impression? The restaurant had a nice, with a trendy atmosphere, very clean, modern and sophisticated. As soon as I took my seat to my surprise, "No tablecloth", could it be?, yes ! Cafetería style. The kitchen sent us a small "apéritif"on the house which was extraordinarily delicious and chic. The rest was a complete disappointment, first course was 2 (two) oysters on a mountain of salt, nothing tasty or extraordinary. Second course was octopus, a micro cut of a tentacle with no flavor mounted on top of things that did not go or help the flavor of the particle (not a dish, only a particle or a tiny piece). The main course was Duck, 1 and a half thin little slice of over cooked, dry and hard meat with poor flavor surrounded by steamed ugly looking carrots. Dessert was good but not excellent. By the end of the $145.00/person meal I was so hungry and dissatisfied with such a waste of time and money I understood why tourists from Europe and other countries with good gastronomic knowledge dislike this kind of Ripoff or scam. I arrived home hungry and fixed me a very late wrap of Swiss cheese and prosciutto with a Guacamole mayonnaise on Armenian flax & Oats flat bread. 100 times better and tastier than the overpriced and horrible Christmas dinner. I have traveled the entire planet experimenting different types of cuisines and never thought I was going to find the worst in my own town. Very sad and disappointing. read more

Really enjoyed this experience at light keepers it was more about the people I was with if anything because the service was questionable at one point but I'll get to that later. Although located in the Ritz Carlton it certainly felt like a separate entity. There is a large restaurant area, bar area and convenient back patio with easy access to the beach. We went on a Thursday for the $1 oysters and happy hour from 5-8pm. There was a plethora of options for small bites and drinks as well. I was delighted that on Thursday's there is also $1 Proseco! Other awesome craft drinks were $5. We started out at the bar and then ended up at a table in the back patio. Really nice to hear the waves crashing as we enjoyed our food and drinks. Service was extremely questionable at one point. We started out at the bar and the bar tender was extremely rude and seemed overwhelmed. We had a party of 7 people so make things easy we had one person doing all the ordering and opened up one tab. After a few apps in the bartender tells us- you know the tip needs to be inclusive of the entire bill not only HH. Um hello? Why are you talking to us about tips when we aren't even close to closing the tab out. I was extremely offended as we weren't only there for the HH, but we were planning to make a night of everything- even ordering several champagne bottles after. Even during dead times she wouldn't acknowledge us when we wanted to continue ordering. After a complaint to the GM, service changed its tune. He was extremely accommodating and offered to bring us everything to our table outside even out of the bar area. Another bar tender with blonde hair was super pleasant and also put the rude bartender with dark hair in her place and told her to keep quiet and stop being rude which I appreciated. Overall great time! And once the GM came and resolved the issues and even better time. I will return soon for another girls night and can't wait to brighten up the rude bar tenders day :) read more

We were inside but he insisted we sit outside by the ocean for this special celebration. His hospitality, demeanor, and customer service is absolutely amazing. The food was delicious and the entire experience was incredible. The staff went out of their way to make this meal special. I am so glad we decided to come here. Most disappointing. Not at all worth the drive. Not sure worth the elevator ride downstairs even if staying at the hotel. Staff nice but not trained. Waiter unable to describe differences between East and West oysters much less the easy part of just knowing their origin. Mussels were good though. For service always had to ask or flag someone. No water refills or anyone checking. Main courses - the Cobia and whole Snapper were very underwhelming as well. Considering this is a Ritz, and you are paying plenty, its not too much to ask that it be above average at a minimum. read more

The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne property is beautiful. Located right on the ocean with spectacular views. This restaurant was a gem! We barely made it just in time for breakfast. Might I add, breakfast was superb. They have breakfast buffets as well but unfortunately we didn't make it in time for that. Instead, we ordered biscuits, waffles, an omelette (made-your-way), French toast, and a breakfast egg burrito. I could easily rate the food as an A+. Service was good too. There's only 2 things that made this visit not worthy of 5 stars. First- we ordered ONE side of a waffle... for $16. Just one waffle. Didn't come with fruit or sugar powder or anything. My whole breakfast egg burrito (that you'll see in the picture) was $17. But yet one measly waffle was $16... anywho, second- we paid in cash but we ended up waiting over fifteen minutes to get change back because no one in the restaurant had change... Regardless of these little "bumps in the road", our overall experience was still great! read more

Love Key Biscayne and the Ritz Carlton has a beautiful property. The hotel has very nice facilities, great rooms and beach. Unfortunately the service is just OK at first but later they made up for it. One of the best 5 star hotels I have been to in a long time. The location has the feel of a Caribbean Island. The property is spacious and very well organized with one large pool for families and another big one on the other side for adults only. The food is good; there are several restaurants serving different kinds of food. Breakfast is fantastic. The rooms are clean and spacious with a balcony. But most of all, service is absolutely impeccable when you make a point that you wish better service. You never have to wait long for an order and they always check to make sure you have what you need. Prices are high, but for us the meal was worth every cent. I ordered the pompano with the cauliflower and my wife ordered the Chilean Sea bass with a side of mash. Food tasted fresh and the fish was not under or overly cooked. The head chef send us a pair of flutes to congratulate us and even gave us a card made from white chocolate signed by him, very nice detail from the Ritz and the staff. We had a good experience. The seating outside is much better , we had to be moved due to rain provided by mother nature. Inside is comfortable but we didn't like how the kitchen is right along the entire restaurant and you can see the cooks and what they are doing. I guess is a way to maintain transparency and have the guest see how their food is being made. We were celebrating and we were quickly accommodated to a space inside we has a very large party adjacent to us with at least 6 kids which took off a bit of the romanticism but they left shortly. I would definitely sit outside next time weather permitting and will just request exceptional service. Its an expensive place and really would like nothing but the best. They added a nice detail at the end for us, maybe because the service was lacking a bit and they noticed we were uncomfortable. I don't know. It was appreciated but I would love for management to take initiative and make sure that guest are treated better and receive more attention. read more

I was excited to bring my daughter and wife here on 5/9/21 but I have to say the experience for being a restaurant in a Ritz Carlton was underwhelming to say the least. I would expect more from the Ritz brand. We sat down to have dinner and it took forever for someone to come and take our drink order. We had to get up and ask someone if they could help us. At this time the restaurant was maybe 20% full. We finally get our drinks and then came the interesting part. We are sitting at the table in the outdoor area and a server is coming out of the door with a plate of oysters and somehow she collides with another restaurant employe and all of the oysters, the juice, the red sauce, and the vinegar spilled all over me. Now I know things happen but the fact that after this happened NO ONE even came over to apologize was a problem. The employees were too busy blaming each other for whose fault it was they completely forgot about me, the customer. I waited a moment to see if anyone was going to offer me some extra napkins or a wet towel as I sat there soaked in oyster juice and vinegar, and to my surprise not one person came over to apologize or offer me a napkin. I had to get up and look for a manager to ask her is she could assist. Even the manager after I explained to her what happened was little to no help. She told me they did not have any wipes or wet napkins to give me to clean up myself and my clothes which are now soaked in oyster juice, red sauce, and vinegar. So I finally just walked to the bathroom and attempted to get the stains and smell out of my clothes. As you can imagine nothing would get rid of the smell from my clothes (which are now ruined). I proceed back to the table and still no one came over to say anything to me. We then proceeded to eat the below average food we ordered and then we left. I then called the Ritz Carlton the next day to tell them what happened and they too seemed to not care. They said they would have a manager call me and you can probably guess, no one ever called. I travel often and stay at plenty of Ritz properties and I have to say this was the worst experience I have ever had a Ritz property and at a Ritz restaurant, and the absolute worst experience I ever had at a restaurant in general. I would not recommend this restaurant. Not only because of the experience I had but the service is subpar and the food is barely average and is way overpriced for the quality of food you get. There are plenty of other options in the area that treat their customers better and have much better food and service. You should expect much more from a Ritz Carlton Restaurant. read more

Let me start by saying that the food was great. We enjoyed everything we ate. The service, however, was appallingly bad. At the beginning of the night the waiter approached our table to tell us that his manager had told him to comp our appetizers. Great! We ordered the same dishes we had planned on ordering before we heard this. Around the middle of the meal, our waiter abruptly approached the table and asked for our room number. We were not hotel guests, had never told anyone we were hotel guests, and had made the reservation through OpenTable. My father informed the waiter of this. After this point, the service completely deteriorated. We almost never saw our waiter again. No one ever asked how we were doing, etc. Our water stopped being refilled. Despite this, we still ordered dessert. We started to feel a bit uncomfortable, so my father decided to tell the waiter that he would pay for the apps, since presumably there had been some kind of misunderstanding. In response, the waiter said there had been a mistake by management, and that we would, in fact, be paying the whole bill. There then proceeded to be an uncomfortable back and forth between my dad and the waiter that ended with us asking the waiter to do "what he thought was right." He kindly comped the apps, as we had originally been told. In sum: management mistakenly told this waiter to comp our apps, realized their mistake, and evidently planned to charge us in the end. The fact that a mistake had been made clearly had an impact on the way we were treated (or this restaurant just has bad service). The waiter was confrontational and unpleasant. For the price, you could probably find great food and pleasant service elsewhere! read more

Came her for dinner the first night of our trip, we were starving. Availability wasn't an issue, we were seated outside right away. I had given my allergies to the hosted when making the reservation. Unfortunately there was a miscommunication and I was brought the octopus dish which contains sesame seeds. I spoke to the manager Suzanne, she was so apologetic and our waiter was as well. Lovely location at the beachfront Ritz Carlton. Both indoor and outdoor seating is pleasant and has a chill, romantic, resort like ambiance that overlooks the pool and ocean beyond. Once the sun sets, the outdoor areas become quite dark, and food and menus can be tough to see clearly. Sides/starters: recommend the mashed potatoes- delightfully flavored, creamy, and tough not to finish. The tomato fondu is rich, zesty, and comes with fantastic toasted bread that's a delight to crunch on. Mains: churrasco is perfectly cooked and seasoned, so good in fact that this light meat eater finished the whole dish, ignoring the full belly's protests. The grouper came to the table well presented, but lacked flavor and disappointed with a dryer, over-cooked texture. This catch definitely wasn't a keeper, though the side was tasty and filled us up. In true Ritz style, we were offered a replacement, but due to long wait times and a hard to find server, we avoided rocking the boat. Service was the night's real struggle. Waiter seemed over extended and overheated. Getting his attention was a challenge, and the wait to ask questions, order, and finally get dishes seemed uncharacteristic of the Ritz reputation and our own past experiences. We regretted our outdoor location as it seemed indoor diners were getting the better experience. At the end of our meal, no dessert menu was offered, and with the long time spent waiting for this and that, there was no time to enjoy them anyway. 18% gratuity automatically added to bill, independent of service quality. Conclusion: mostly great food, but with mediocre service, long waits, and high prices, this lovely spot is best suited for hotel guests for whom Lightkeepers is too convenient to resist. read more

This is a good restaurant for Sunday brunch for a lot of reasons. Service is good, the setting is nice and seating is comfortable. The outside patio affords a view (albeit recessed and distanced) of the beach. The buffet has typical brunch offerings and some are executed nicely while others failed. Bad bagels and awful pancakes sitting on a hot plate are a few of the negatives. However the seafood selection is good and the quality is a little better than most buffets. Unfortunately the crab legs were of questionable quality and probably best to avoid. There was also a small selection of sushi and a caviar (not exactly beluga but caviar) station with blinis. Beside the pancake failure a few of the items on the buffet were awful, most notably the fried chicken. Of course with a buffet its all about trying to find the good selections within the clutter and there were some good choices. Dessert choices were generous with better than average beignet and ice cream. I don't think Lightkeepers brunch buffet is outstanding but the location makes it a good choice for a nice Sunday afternoon. read more

Technically 3.5 stars. The food is on the pricy side. We ordered quote a few things including: lighthouse seafood tower, lobster mac and cheese, grilled octopus, short ribs, cauliflower, ravioli, cheese cake. The seafood tower was fresh and tasty, probably my favorite with some very nice oysters. The lobster mac and cheese veered on the average side for us. It was tasty but nothing too special. The grilled octopus was a favorite among those at the table. Short ribs were average as well. The cauliflower was not seasoned at all which made it difficult to eat. The ravioli itself was great but the sauce was too sweet and too much which made it tiring on the taste buds. Brussel sprouts were also a little bit too sweet. I didn't taste the filet mignon but it looked beautiful when it was served to my friend. The key lime cheesecake was absolutely amazing and probably the highlight of the whole meal. read more

Great place to grab lunch. View was amazing. The staff was exceptional! But what else would you expect from the Ritz-Carlton!!! I had the burger and fries. Very yummy! Checked this place out on lunch while on Key Biscayne and had a great local beer and the fish and chips. No complaints from me except the parking is a bit of a nightmare but it's like that everywhere on the island. I'd come back if I am in the area again. read more
