DO NOT USE - Unreliable Roofing Contractor - Nightmare!…read more We hired Shield Masonry & Roofing Inc. in June 2022 to repair the roof of our condo building and build a new deck on top of it. Unfortunately, our experience with them was a nightmare, and we feel compelled to share it with others to prevent anyone else from going through the same ordeal. First and foremost, the contractor used incorrect materials while building the deck. To add insult to injury, they charged us for more expensive materials than they actually used, displaying a complete lack of integrity and transparency. We mutually agreed with the contractor in advance in writing that the roof deck would be built with "Trex Transcend" composite decking in Rope Swing color; the contractor, however, built our roof deck with "Trex Enhance G2 Grooved" composite decking in Foggy Wharf color, a material of much lesser quality that is already breaking in some areas. To make matters worse, the deck construction was carried out in a way that now leaves our roof in violation of building codes. Not only did they fail to adhere to regulations, but they also neglected to inform us of these potential issues during the process, and when we let them know that their work was out of code, they did not apologize, would not fix their work to align with code, and blamed it on us when they are the experts. Furthermore, upon inspection by independent experts, it was determined that the roof deck framing is not structurally sound. We were advised that (a) there are narrow pieces of wood supporting the west side of the roof deck, which do not align with standards of practice in the industry and will pierce the roof's membrane as weight is applied, (2) the roof substructure was laid incorrectly, preventing the free flow of water to the scuppers, and (3) already, various portions of the roof deck are loose and detached from the frame, making the roof deck unsafe to walk on. This poses a substantial risk to the safety of those in our building and our guests. Throughout the project, communication was very difficult and minimal, and they showed little to no concern for our satisfaction or the quality of their work. When we raised our concerns, they were dismissive and unresponsive, leaving us feeling frustrated and deceived. We strongly advise anyone considering hiring Shield Masonry & Roofing Inc. to NOT HIRE THEM. Their unprofessionalism, lack of expertise, and disregard for customer satisfaction have left us with a costly and dangerous mess to clean up, including having to re-do all of the work. On top of that, we reached out for a refund, and they would not comply or even respond to us despite their defective, fraudulent and grossly negligent acts and omissions, and we will need to re-perform the work with a new vendor. Please learn from our unfortunate experience and look for a reputable and trustworthy contractor to handle your roofing and deck projects who is NOT Shield Masonry & Roofing Inc. Don't let yourself fall victim to the same nightmare we endured.

After checking the building, I realized the roof had been damaged from the wind and part of it had blown off. I immediately started searching for roofers and George Roofing responded quickly and scheduled an emergency visit the same day. Eric and his project manager Rafael came out, went up on the roof, and showed me photos and videos of the damage so I could see exactly what was going on. They explained everything clearly and showed me how The plywood underneath was completely exposed. I was extremely paranoid then they made me feel a lot better about the situation. When they said they could help me and there's no need to panic. I was so scared rain was gonna come down and destroy everything. They performed an emergency repair right away and secured the roof with membrane so water wouldn't get into the building. Now we're scheduled to move forward with a full new roof. I'm really thankful for their quick response and professionalism. I would definitely recommend George Roofing to anyone who needs reliable roofing help.

My efforts to have Roofmasters and Masonry complete the work we paid for has been a nightmare…read more I see now why they have gone from 4-5 stars to 3.5. Since we moved into our house, there has been a leak in the roof in our unfinished attic area. Additionally the attic vent fan stopped working. We received a reasonable quote to have the fan replaced and the leak repaired. That was in November 2022 and the work was done in march 2023 for weather safety reasons. They came and did the work in a timely manner. Since that time, the leak has continued. They have returned several times without being able to find and actually fix the leak. Now it is winter 2023 and once again, the leak has returned. Roofmasters returned several times. This time they have narrowed the leak to a lack of pipe flashing. The problem with this? In November 2022, I sent a picture of ice and water to roofmasters calling out the pipe as a possible root cause of the leak. Either it was ignored or they attempted to fix and failed, or they repaired the wrong area. Regardless, I'm easy to work with. Things get missed. But I expect a business to make it right when mistakes are made. I would have been thrilled that they may have actually found the original leak, but now Roofmasters is treating this as if it is a new problem unrelated to the previous work order to fix our leak. Apparently they consider it a new job. ITS THE SAME LEAK! And they have GHOSTED me completely when I asked them to make good on the work we paid for. It's the same leak. Same amount of water, same location. Since November 2022. In fact, we left the buckets in the same place all year by a happy accident which meant it collected most of the water to avoid damaging our ceiling. Moral of the story, expect Roofmasters to need to come back several times to fix leaks and when they finally find the root cause, don't expect them to make good on their promises and stand by the quality of their work. They will probably treat it as an entirely new job/problem. What a scam! I had originally recommended them to many other people. I've been sure to reach out and withdraw my recommendation.

Eduardo of Eagle Roofing & Masonry was by far the most professional and responsive contractor I've ever dealt with and I'm a Director of Operations for a high rise! Most importantly, after completing the project, there were a couple of minor issues, but Eduardo was more than happy to come back and take care of them. When I let Eduardo know, he went back and forth with me via text for about 39 minutes saying I used salt on the concrete. That was it, he took no accountability, just that I used salt and ruined my own walkway I spent thousands on. He then offered to see it in person (which he should have just said in the first place) and told me over and over I used salt during the winter. Anyone who knows me knows that I wouldn't use salt and in fact have been using sand. He asked to see the bag, I brought it up and then he said, I was using salt. He then asked how many people live in the building (not important, the city sidewalk doesn't look like this, neither does the walkway in the back, which is decades old). It was really weird and he took absolutely no accountability for what might have happened, as I only stated the work was not aging well. He just kept saying he did a good job, etc and that I used salt. After all of that, he said he could fix it (sir, you should have led with that). The price he gave was high and ultimately I didn't think I should have to pay more for work that didn't really hold up after 2.5 years. So just know if you get concrete work and it looks bad after a few years, he'll blame you over and over before finally offering an expensive solution.
