Our only concerns were with communication and project management. Our signed contract included replacing the fence as well as demolishing and removing a concrete step. A few days after the project began, we were told the concrete removal would cost extra because the step was concrete. We didn't mind paying the additional cost--we understand unexpected situations can come up--but it was frustrating that this wasn't identified and communicated during the initial estimate or before the work started. The concrete step was identified on the day work began, and he mentioned the extra charge 3 days later. Once the fence was completed, we were asked for full payment even though the contracted work had not yet been finished. We ultimately agreed to pay the remaining balance because we didn't want to go back and forth. It also seemed like multiple jobs were being worked on at the same time, which delayed completion. We were told a jackhammer needed to be rented to complete the concrete removal, but it wasn't arranged until later, adding to the delay. Overall, we're pleased with the final product and the quality of the work. I would hire Danny again because the workmanship and pricing were good. However, I would make sure the contract had more detailed terms regarding change orders, payment milestones, and project completion timelines to avoid any misunderstandings. Better communication throughout the project would have made the experience much smoother.

The other companies charged a lot of money for spot fixes in very small areas of the roof that ultimately didn't solve our issues, or they quoted us a huge sum of money to replace our entire roof. This past week, we had extremely heavy rains and saw water dripping from a can light in an area that a previous company was supposed to have fixed. I put out a request on Yelp and skyline was among the first to respond. Frank called and offered to come immediately to take a look, even though it was quite late. They identified the area that needed remediation and quoted a fair price to fix it, plus the rest of the trouble spots on my roof. I knew we had more rain coming in a few days, so the job had to be completed quickly. The next morning, Frank's crew showed up and quickly made progress, but they also noticed something that no other roofing company had - they opened up the roof to find structural issues where 2 skylights had not been installed properly, and rafters were cracked. This explained why previous spot fixes hadn't resolved the issue. Again, Frank quoted a fair price to resolve this structural issue. They proceeded and did the work quickly, in time to finish before the next waves of rain came, including even cutting back a branch that was risking damaging a section of the roof. They provided before / during / after photos. The roof looks excellent, solving the one major issue, as well as doing maintenance work on many other areas of the roof that now look brand new. Throughout my experience, the one thing that stood out more than anything was Frank's responsiveness and communication. He was incredibly fast and responsive, took the time to answer all of my questions and helped me think through my repair options, and was available and responsive constantly throughout the job and at all hours of the day and night. I can't thank Frank and skyline roofing enough for their help. They'll be the first company I call the next time we need help with our roof and gutters!

When they came back out, they said it wasn't their fault and I'd need to pay for a contractor to come out, open the wall and determine the leak. Two independent contractors identified it was because Chicago Roofing Solutions didn't properly seal the new roof to the scupper box, resulting in thousands of dollars of damage. They refuse to reimburse for the damage, actually gaslighted me saying it was my fault for bringing in a contractor and stopped responding when trying to discuss the situation. They were fine until something went wrong and then it cost me thousands for their mistake.

I had the same concerns. Forget them. OnPoint is the real deal. We needed our 20 year old roof replaced. Three stories high, several levels, pretty steep. We had a few finicky extras to deal with - a powered skylight and some upper windows to replace, some cosmetic work on the upper fascia. Other places (and I got estimates from a half dozen others) were unenthusiastic or evasive about them. Not OnPoint. Santino came out and gave us a quick, fair estimate that was significantly lower than every competitor. Then every step of the way he and his guys were great. DO NOT USE - Unreliable Roofing Contractor - Nightmare!…read more We hired Shield Masonry & Roofing Inc. in June 2022 to repair the roof of our condo building and build a new deck on top of it. Unfortunately, our experience with them was a nightmare, and we feel compelled to share it with others to prevent anyone else from going through the same ordeal. First and foremost, the contractor used incorrect materials while building the deck. To add insult to injury, they charged us for more expensive materials than they actually used, displaying a complete lack of integrity and transparency. We mutually agreed with the contractor in advance in writing that the roof deck would be built with "Trex Transcend" composite decking in Rope Swing color; the contractor, however, built our roof deck with "Trex Enhance G2 Grooved" composite decking in Foggy Wharf color, a material of much lesser quality that is already breaking in some areas. To make matters worse, the deck construction was carried out in a way that now leaves our roof in violation of building codes. Not only did they fail to adhere to regulations, but they also neglected to inform us of these potential issues during the process, and when we let them know that their work was out of code, they did not apologize, would not fix their work to align with code, and blamed it on us when they are the experts. Furthermore, upon inspection by independent experts, it was determined that the roof deck framing is not structurally sound. We were advised that (a) there are narrow pieces of wood supporting the west side of the roof deck, which do not align with standards of practice in the industry and will pierce the roof's membrane as weight is applied, (2) the roof substructure was laid incorrectly, preventing the free flow of water to the scuppers, and (3) already, various portions of the roof deck are loose and detached from the frame, making the roof deck unsafe to walk on. This poses a substantial risk to the safety of those in our building and our guests. Throughout the project, communication was very difficult and minimal, and they showed little to no concern for our satisfaction or the quality of their work. When we raised our concerns, they were dismissive and unresponsive, leaving us feeling frustrated and deceived. We strongly advise anyone considering hiring Shield Masonry & Roofing Inc. to NOT HIRE THEM. Their unprofessionalism, lack of expertise, and disregard for customer satisfaction have left us with a costly and dangerous mess to clean up, including having to re-do all of the work. On top of that, we reached out for a refund, and they would not comply or even respond to us despite their defective, fraudulent and grossly negligent acts and omissions, and we will need to re-perform the work with a new vendor. Please learn from our unfortunate experience and look for a reputable and trustworthy contractor to handle your roofing and deck projects who is NOT Shield Masonry & Roofing Inc. Don't let yourself fall victim to the same nightmare we endured.
