It says Hotel but it is definitely "Motel" vibes. Place looks very ran down and I wouldn't have stayed here if the pictures were accurate to.the true place. Bed linens were scratchy, room was dusty, tv in the room was very small. We paid for the 2 queen "suite" not sure what made it a suite. Maybe it was the sink in the room by the bed? Haha. Im giving it 1 because the water pressure was great in the shower and we had a view of the ocean. (Which we paid for) If you book here be prepared that it is run down, and sketchy. Elevator was slow and questionable. (we took the stairs). Oh, and there was a random microwave with 2 chairs in the hallway by all the rooms. Oh! I almost forgot! Taking steam showers sets off the in room fire alarm that keeps loudly and tells you there is smoke.. there is no smoke it was shower steam.
Let me start by saying how excited we were to stay here with our girls. It was our first time ever getting a beachfront hotel in Pacifica. We spent the extra money and paid over $400 for a single night. Stay to have the skyline view with the balcony. Safe to say that's not what we got. I will be attaching pictures as well, but all we got was a view of the buildings in front of us. We ended up having to call the front desk because the people in the room above us had multiple small children running and screaming stomping across the floor from 7 AM to 9 AM before we finally gave in and called in. The front desk told us that there was nothing they can do unfortunately. We requested late checkout and were told we were able to stay until 12 PM. At about 1030 at the front desk called to ask why we were still in the room because checkout time was 11. (it was not even 11 o'clock yet.) we informed her that we had requested late check out and even had it confirmed on the paper. They gave us when we checked in.. She said that's not what they had in their system, but to make sure we were out by 12. To spend this amount of money to not receive what we paid for , be rushed out of our room earlier than checkout time, and be woken up at 7 AM from screaming stomping children is absolutely ridiculous. I would not recommend this place to anyone. To top it off when you're on the balcony, either way you look to the left or the right you can see into the rooms next to you . I would highly recommend keeping your curtains closed unless you want all of your neighbors to have a clear view into your room.
An overall ok hotel that is slightly run down (see my photos) but probably gets by because of its location right on the water. It was quite pricey, about $290 for the one night, booked a week in advance. Didn't feel worth it. However, if we'd booked a month in advance, it would have been $188. We stayed here for a night in April because our friends had an event here. The hotel allowed us to check in about 1.5 hours early (around 2:30pm). Note there are no towels at the pool, but there are small ones at the gym. We had to go back to our room to get towels. When I called the front desk from our room with some requests, I encountered several rude clerks who put me on hold for way too long. Note there are no slippers or robes (although the pre-recorded hold message says they offer robes. When I asked, they said that's an old message and the offer has changed). On checkout day, we got a very loud knock on our door at 9am from the cleaners. This is kind of unheard of for checkout day.. checkout is at 11am. Please just wait until we check out.
We reserved a room with an ocean view, two queen beds, and a sofa bed. We did not see a sofa bed so inquired about it. We were told they had no such room even though it clearing stated there was one online and in our confirmation. My daughter spent two hours plus with Jane, the room manager, on the phone trying to get this rectified. I have attached two pictures of the solution they came up with. A psych ward cot from around the 1940's or 1950's. I know this seems unbelievable but who can make something like this up! Also, there is a photo of a dirty sock that did not belong to any of our group. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.
We appreciated our stay at the Pacifica Lighthouse Hotel. We hadn't been to this hotel in a long time and it was interesting to see that not much had changed. The lobby area looked nice and the carpet in the hallways was lovely. The rooms had an odd grouping of patterns. The bed definitely needs to be replaced in the room we were in. The bed slumped toward the middle. There was a long counter area in the bathroom, but one sink. That was kind of odd, but we made it work. The coffee in the bathroom was not good at all. Please consider replacing it. We purchased coffee at Breakers each morning which was wonderful! I loved the shower head and appreciated having the bath mat in the tub. The view from the room was gorgeous and needed as we were on a stress relieving getaway. The hotel is in dire need of repainting as it looks very old. Perhaps the ocean air breaks the paint down quickly. The housekeeping services were wonderful. We had to remember to schedule if we needed service which we missed a few times. We're not used to the feature of having to call if we need our room cleaned. I haven't stayed anywhere with that. One thing that was odd was our check in process. Wendy checked us in. She did not greet us with friendliness or interest. She really didn't look at us much or make us feel welcomed to stay there. I did not like that. Would I stay here again? I would certainly consider it if I need to be in the area. I think the customer service at the front desk can use some retraining. Thank you
This hotel has SOOOO MUCH potential. Closer to 3.5 stars. I think once they finish the renovation it'll definitely be a 5 star rating! The hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the hustle and bustle of the San Francisco area. OMGoodness, I don't think you can get closer to the ocean without sleeping on the beach! Lol I called the hotel directly before I made my reservation to make sure I got a room that was closets to the water with a full view of the ocean. It was pure relaxation sleeping with the door open and hearing the ocean waves all night!!! My room also had a little balcony you could walk out on. Take a look at the picture I posted that shows the room layouts. I stayed in Room 122 and had an unobstructed view of the ocean. As of July 2023, most of Building B was under construction and off-limits. The room itself was a little rundown and there weren't many amenities from the hotel. But you're really paying for the location. We are breakfast at Breakers, which was within walking distance of the hotel. If you get a good rate, I'd recommend staying here. Or definitely check it out once they finish the remodel.
I gave management multiple months to call or EMAIL me back. No response. That's okay. First, Wendy is not only not customer savvy but just not a good person in general. Second, my roof above my balcony literally came crashing down. Management didn't care.

My wife booked this for the weekend and it was more like an old motel. They tried to refresh the interior to make it nicer but it's still old and worn. If you stay here for a top floor since the walls are thin and we had people stomping on top of us all night and keeping us awake. Our room had the funny description of "SkyView" so we weren't expecting to see the ocean so it was a nice surprise to get a small sliver of Rockaway Beach. We did get to see the sky like the description said, seems like such a scammy way to make a normal room sound better. The rooms weren't very clean with old stains on the carpet and stuff still in the carpet that wasn't vacuumed. The worst part of it was a terrible mildew/fungus smell that seemed to be coming from the bathroom, because of this we tried to stay in the bathroom as quickly as possible. The beach directly in back provides nice ocean sounds and smells but it's the part of Rockaway Beach where the waves go right up to the rocks so you can really go sit and relax in the sand.
Stayed at Lighthouse for one night (6/15-6/16) and while the stay started off rocky, it was a good time. After checking in I went to take a look at my room only to find it had not been fully made yet. While it looked like the room had already been cleaned, the beds were not done (picture attached). After going back down to the front desk to let them know, I had to wait about 45 minutes for housekeeping to go and rectify the issue. Other than that, the stay went well. Yes it's an older location that has somewhat been renovated, but unfortunately some parts of the hotel are still a bit dated as in the carpet, walls, and overall exterior and interior. Things get done a little slower here as I found out they are understaffed so have patience as they try their best. It seems Wyndham has no priority in putting work into this location which is unfortunate because this could really be a gem in a beautiful area of California. The view from my ocean/cove view room was amazing! I would stay here again but I'd recommend others to not set their expectations too high.

I rarely do 1 star reviews but this hotel is nothing but deserving of it. First of all, the front desk staff most definitely needs retraining on customer service. I had encounters with 2 different people in the front desk I only remember name of one, Wendy. My sister checked in before me and I was coming in really late so she left a key for me at the front desk so I don't have to wake her up to come get me because they have key doors from the parking lot, I rang their bell and waited at the front desk for about 10-15 minutes and no one showed up. I had to wake my sister up to open the door for me. The rooms seem nice at a first glance but once you try to use the coffee maker, hair in it and dust. The towels had blond hair in one of them and we are both with black hair. One of the bed sheets had stains in them so the first night we just slept on one bed because we couldn't get ahold of anyone at the front desk. We asked for late checkout, and before even finishing my sentence on the phone, Wendy at the front desk said NO. Not I apologize but this hotel doesn't accomplish late checkouts, she just said NO, checkout is at 12. So we left our room at about 11:55 and by the time we got to our car and put our bags in and drove up to the office to check out it was 12:07 and they charged me 66$ for checking out late. The location of this hotel is absolutely beautiful, they have a restaurant in the same building and the food there is delicious. The rooms seem cosy and nice but their cleanliness is none existent, it's impossible to reach the front desk from the first call so I think this hotel has potential if they had better management and staff. I stay in the area often and was looking for a hotel that I could just keep coming back to, but I would never come back here even thou it's perfect location for me.

Edit: The manager of this hotel posted a reply to my review for me to contact them. I did, and I got NO response. Do not post a reply to my review to make it seem to the Yelp community that you were trying to address my concerns. If you really cared about our experience, you would have gotten back to me by now. I was not excepting this place to be so old and run down for the price. For two nights including taxes came out a hair over $400. Yikes! We reserved and paid for in advance for a king size bed. We got a queen, and when we asked the front desk, basically they said, sorry, your reservation doesn't guarantee the type of room, but just a room. =/ They said they didn't have any other rooms as they were all booked except the Presidential suite. However, just like another reviewer wrote, the parking lot was almost completely empty! And it was late too. So where were all the people? Also my reservation said our room was to have a fireplace. Nope, no fireplace. So the room itself was a partial ocean view. I took a look on yelp, and decided against paying that much for a mayo laden sandwich. The rest of the room was pretty outdated. The bathroom design was ridiculous. There was only one sink, and that one sink was located at the far end of the counter, and when the bathroom door is open, completely blocks off the area you would be standing at if you were to use the sink. The bed was ok, and you get four pillows. Two are down-ish filling, and two are poly fiberfill. The housekeeper put the poly pillows in front of the down-ish pillows, so I thought all the pillows were poly fill at first. Thank god I checked them all. I hate poly fill pillows. The in room coffee was nasty. But you do get a mini fridge, so go down the street to the Safeway and get yourself some snacks to store in there. There's no microwave, so get stuff you can eat cold or room temp. We got prosciutto, cheese, roasted red pepper spread, and naan bread. Oh yeah, there's only ONE ice machine in each wing of the hotel. Ours was one the 1st floor. We did have a vending machine on the 3rd floor though. And apparently this is a non smoking wing, but our hallway stunk of weed. This place barely eeks out a two star rating from me for their fairly fast free wifi and free parking. When you first log into the wifi, they prompt you to buy a faster connection. No need, the free wifi is plenty fast. It also works in the parking lot, so after you check out you can still use the wifi in the lot. Hee hee. Oh yeah, the exterior looks just like a prison yard! I have had very good luck with Best Westerns-probably since I used to do reservations for them on Shelter Island, but still my son & I LOVE their Big Bear Chalet in the winter! The Palm Springs Best Western is very nice and Spanish-y and overall, it is not a bad hotel chain. Back in my SF State days, I would always hang out in Pacifica & Half Moon Bay because it's just so damn pretty and rustic. Rockaway Beach is one of the few accessible spots in the Pacifica area where you can get on the beach and also access a big mountain with trails along the ocean that abuts the beach. I remembered this when I came up to San Francisco recently. This particular Best Western is sufficiently good but not great. The location is magnificent-overlooking the beach, but you pay a little more for that distniction- atleast $200/ per night on weekends. My room overlooking the beach was perfect-I too opened the screen door and curtains for a invigorating sea brezze and view of waves crashing against the rocks. The pool & jacuzzi looked pretty good too. What does drag this place down is the unredeemably BAD internet service. I plugged my laptop in and it couldn't connect to the internet. I called the front desk but they just passed me on to some tech desk which couldn't help me either.. I had stuff to write and was pissed! So then I go into their "business room," and that HP computer was a joke--it would throw me out of Facebook anytime I tried to comment. It would not even allow anything to post on Twitter. And forget about getting any emails! To top it off-the printer-which I needed for a mapquest -kept jamming up. Someone came in and told me you have to hand feed the paper into it for anything to print. What kind of service is this-especially when the Wi-Fi in the rooms don't work, and then the computer the front desk refers you to-DOES NOT WORK & NEITHER DOES THE PRINTER! Otherwise-tis a shame Best Western corporate doesn't spend the money to upgrade their internet service. To ruin a perfectly good property with a great location and unrivaled views by withholding needed improvements to their computer access-well, it doesn't make sense. But I did enjoy the great Santa Barbara Coffee Co. coffee and delicious basket filled with apples for breakfast. Since I am so fond of how romantic and out-of-the-way it is here, I would revisit but just not plan on desperately seeking emails or blog reports again. With a few basic fixing-up projects and some customer service training for the front desk-This Best Western Lighthouse on Rockaway Beach could easily hit 5 stars. read more

My family and I had a great experience here. We had 2 queen beds with a partial ocean view. For 2 adults, a teen, 2 lil girls and a dog it worked out fine. The hotel receptionist was pleasent while checking in and out. I requested a microwave at about 10 pm and they promptly sent the security guard up with it. He too was pleasent. And funny! We stayed two nights and had the room cleaned once. Upon arrival the room was clean and No , there are not bedbugs. Housekeeping did a great job. Also, the beds were very cozy and comfy! The hotel is located right on the beach. It is a gorgeous view. Our view was alright but I didn't want to pay for the full on ocean view suite. I originally reserved a courtyard view but at the last minute upgraded to partial ocean view for just a little bit more. Honestly the best part was hearing the ocean waves all night. The only con I would say was the balcony or lack there of. Kinda weird set up. You can see a pic someone took on here. Not a deal breaker though. Great place for the price. read more

The great thing about this hotel is the location. It's right on the beach which is beautiful. The hotel itself isnt really anything special. Our room wasn't super clean, (stains on the rug, an m&m under the sink) but it was sufficient. We had a balcony door that was open when we checked in and it was actually very hard to close. The room also smelt like sand but that's to be expected due to the location. It's a fine place to stay if you're not going to be using the room for more than sleeping. read more

Be careful when booking the more expensive room that is supposed to be a full ocean view. It is not. My room was a view of the parking lot! Not happy and called the front desk and there reply was that they were sorry but they did not move me to a ocean view room or help in any way. They wanted to move me up a floor and with one bed which was not accommodating as I was with a friend not someone I wanted to sleep in the same bed with so I could get the room I paid for in the first place. read more

Wonderful lil mini getaway! Booked a king ocean view. On arrival, I was greeted by Madlyn..not sure of spelling, but she was awesome! So nice, helpful and sweet. I hope the positive feedback reaches the employees. Always hearing what you're doing wrong only breeds resentment and discontent, which passes on to the customer. Treat your employees well and they'll treat the customers well!!! We were upgraded to a junior suite, courtesy of Madlyn. The view was nothing short of amazing! We seriously had the absolute best view of the ocean from our room. I read other reviews saying the place is dated...looks fine to me! Our room was updated and cute! Another plus, dog friendly, as all Best Westerns are. I took away one star because they restrict dogs over 40 lbs and NO PIT BULLS OR ROTTWEILERS! I hate the breed discrimination! C'mon, now! There are good and bad dogs of every size and breed! Just like there are good and bad PEOPLE of every race, religion and culture! Open your eyes and get with the times, Best Western! I've known more mean chihuahuas than mean big dogs! In any case, we had a great time and can't wait to come back and listen to the waves as we fall asleep... read more

The hotel was in the perfect spot right by the water. We got a room with a view so it was nice to see the water and cliffs. The beds were comfortable. The carpet around the hotel could use some updating. Overall a nice place to stay. read more

Get a jr suite front of the building room preferably on the 3rd floor. OMG, the view is just spectacular. You can hear and see the Pacific as if you were on a little yacht looking out your balcony window. Yes, the hotel is an old building but you won't find another hotel with ocean view so close to the Pacific unless you're spending $500+ a night. My kids also enjoyed the pool/spa and the town of Pacifica is much more calmer than the bustling downtown of San Francisco. BTW, San Francisco is a 15 minute drive away. read more
