The facility was nice, and had incredible views. The staff over the phone, when booking through their corporate office, was extremely accommodating. The staff at the hotel was not helpful at all. With an email confirmation of the booking, the desk clerk still made us wait 30 minutes to help us, with no other customers. She wouldn't even leave the back office and made us speak to her through the wall. When we reported a faulty bathtub to the same person, she said we had to wait until tomorrow and " I'm not an engineer and everybody is gone for the night." I give the facility and the corporate office five stars, but the on duty clerk needs to addressed regarding customer service. read more

When you're in Pacifica this is the place to go if you want a beachfront view. It's at Rockaway Beach where there is the Moonraker and Nick's Restaurant. There is a small Oceanfront walkway and hills on either side for the adventurous hikers. This is an older hotel that is constantly going under renovations. I stayed in section B on the first floor and the rooms were obviously renovated and they were very nice. Very clean, nice bedding, clean bathroom with a granite countertop. I always like the extras like a robe, which they had. The pool had a handicap chair access and also a hot tub. They're still working on renovating C sevtion. There is free underground parking that is great because this place can get crowded on the weekends. The only bummer is that the balcony is only big enough for you to stand on it so no chairs to sit out and look at the view. The staff was super friendly read more

Being a nurse and dealing with the covid situation head on as a first responder for 6 days a week for the last 3 months, I needed this 1.5 day escape to get some rest, and to release all the emotions I had to hide in order to protect my patients, and family. The check in was great, and smooth. I booked an ocean view through a 3rd party, and the front desk lady accommodated me with one that had the perfect ocean view. The sound of the waves, and being able to watch the sunset as I relaxed on the patio, was exactly what I needed to regroup. The hotel is in a very convenient location, with plenty of food, and shops in the area. I would definitely stay here again once the shelter in place is lifted, so I can get the full experience of shops, and food. read more

This motel is no longer part of the Best Western chain. Its now part of Wyndham, a downgrade in my opinion. The good: The ocean front room views cannot be beat, mostly clean, decent. Great food at the Moonraker! (Independent from the motel). To go only at present, best pot roast of my life. Seafood and cocktails in the past....yummo. The bad: BEWARE! The parking garage is NOT safe. Anyone can walk or drive into it, from the beach or the street. Many, many blind and hidden spots through out! They should have keyed gates on the beach side and drive through keyed car access. Office people seemed to care less at check in, which was delayed 2 hours for me, said they would call, twice when room was ready, never did. Terrible. We had a great stay here 8 years ago. This time, so many awful things happened we'll never stay here again. When we entered the lobby to check-in, desk clerk was staring at her computer with two people ahead of us. The one lady, who she was supposedly helping check-in, kept trying to make light conversation as she was waiting, and waiting. The desk clerk ignored her. She also did not acknowledge the person waiting in front of us, nor us. After about 10 minutes, the first person was checked in. The line moved up. Two more groups came into the lobby behind us. The clerk didn't say anything to anyone but slowly worked her computer. After 15 more minutes (truly!), the person in front of us was checked in. Finally, it was our turn. Obviously it was a slow check-in but worse than that, once we got to our assigned room, #442, and heard and saw the large HVAC units right outside our room, I knew we couldn't stay there. I had even requested 'away from motor hum' when I made my reservation months before. We called down to the lobby. The clerk answered after 10 rings and said hold and then after 10 minutes, we gave up and took all our stuff with us to the lobby. Again, there were two groups in front of us standing there upset as they waited to check in. Everyone waiting in the lobby was angry and frustrated. 15 minutes later it was our turn and when I said we needed a different room, she replied she didn't know how to switch rooms and the manager was gone and there was no one else there. I asked her to call the manager. She eventually did, went into the back room and whispered loudly about the annoying client (ME!) who wanted to switch rooms. A LONG conversation ensued, and we could actually hear the manager yelling at the employee about her incompetence, and our request. During this time, three more parties had entered the lobby waiting to check in. They were grumbling to one another saying how awful this clerk was and how terrible the service and wait was. The clerk came back to the lobby and told us we had to take that room or find another hotel. We decided to do that, so I handed over the keys and asked for a receipt showing there was no charge because we ended up not staying there. She said she couldn't give us a receipt, nor print out anything. Frustrated at all this wasted time and realizing I needed to find another hotel, I just recorded her on my cell phone saying we would not get charged because we were not staying. We hustled out of there very upset. When I got home, I received an email saying "we hope you enjoyed your stay". Worrying that the clerk had screwed up, I checked my credit card bill online and saw that they had charged me-not just once, but TWICE! PLUS, the amount charged in each transaction was 100 dollars over what we were quoted in the original email confirmation of our reservation. I called Wyndham customer service, and they first told me to call the hotel. Are you kidding!? When I freaked out, they agreed to write up my case and try to help me with it. Now I am supposed to wait 7-10 days to see if the charges are removed. I will never stay at this hotel and highly recommend you don't either! read more

Do not be deceived by pictures on their website! I should have went with my gut after reading reviews but listened to my husband that people are more willing to write negative reviews than the good. So I listened to him and focused on the good reviews. BIG MISTAKE!!! We had booked this hotel for 3 days. Upon arriving the outer building looked old and weathered. Nothing like the picture. While checking in , we were told the pool was closed. She said the hot tub was open , hmmmm when we went to check it out , it was completely empty. Walking into the room I noticed sticky stuff on the doors , a musty smell that they had tried to cover with febreeze , peeling wall paper at the seams , and what looked like bird poop on the wall and nasty stuff on the wall outlet that I took off easily with a wet wipe. The floor felt sticky and our partial view of the ocean was not desirable. My eyes had started to sting and kids were hungry so we went to grab some food. When I came back my eyes started burning and figured it was what they sprayed in the room. I could not stay on this room , the more my eyes burned and feeling it had not been cleaned , I went and asked if we could move. We were moved to another room with another ocean view. Look at pics for our view. Although this room was a tad bit cleaner I still found food under bed , because now I am inspecting for bed bugs and have decided we will check out in the AM! read more

My fiancee and I booked a last minute Valentine's Day getaway at the Lighthouse Hotel in Pacifica. Things we loved: The location is excellent as it is right on the beach and connected to the Moonraker Restaurant. Nick's Restaurant (highly recommend!!) is right across the street. It is located in the heart of the Rockaway Beach area of Pacifica. We booked an ocean view room and it is worth the extra price to wake up to the sound of the waves. These rooms also come with a balcony, however it is only big enough to stand next to it and look over. Check in went smoothly and the front desk staff was very kind. The hotel also has free parking and Wi-Fi. A few cons of the hotel: We thought the parking area looked sketchy. Although it was underground and safer than parking on street, we thought the parking lot was really dirty and hard to navigate. Also, our room seemed a little dirty. There were stains on the floor. The patio door to the balcony seemed a little stiff as it was very difficult to open. However, we loved our stay here and would happily stay again. Would give zero stars if allowed. My son and I flew all day on Monday September 27th from the east coast, as he was moving to San Francisco, and I went along to help. We needed to stay one night at a hotel, as his apartment wasn't ready until Tuesday. Pacifica looked like a gorgeous place to visit, and we were extremely excited to be staying on such a beautiful scenic beach. Upon booking our stay at the Pacifica Lighthouse Hotel Trademark Collection by Wyndham, I went through the reviews to ensure it was a clean place to stay for the evening. The only thing that really stood out from the reviews was that it was a bit dated. I can live with dated. What I cannot live with is dirty and having to deal with bed bugs. That was the reality of our stay. When we arrived at the hotel, it did seem like it needed a facelift. We weren't extremely worried about that, as I have stayed in similar hotels before. The woman was kind, gave us our room key, and we were on our way. Bed bugs have always been a fear of mine, and I expect a hotel room to be clean. As soon as I walk in to any hotel room, I do an inspection of the bed and bathroom. As I pulled down the comforter and sheet to my bed I noticed a long hair and a small stain. The curtains on the balcony door also had mold all over them. We immediately went downstairs to the front desk and asked to be moved to a new room. The woman at the desk was apologetic and stated that it was marked as clean. This was around 9pm, and I got the feeling that the area that we were in wasn't very safe. While the woman was looking for a new room for us, another guest interrupted her to ask for some shaving cream. She told him to wait a second, and stated that she gave us a free upgrade when she gave us the new room key, but she didn't say what room it was. She said something low that I couldn't understand, but I got the feeling it was something related to safety. The room number was on the key folder though. I also glanced up to notice a cautionary sign about human trafficking. As we arrived to our new "upgraded room", we could hear the people next door loud and clear. There was an adjoining door and it was unlocked! I then went to the balcony door and that was unlocked as well. The balconies are right next to each other, and you can literally walk over the railing to the next room. I did my room check. Looked at the sheets near the top, and everything looked good...or so I thought. I woke up around 7am looked down and there were BED BUGS in my bed! I immediately woke up my son, and surprise surprise...bed bugs in his bed as well along with blood spots on the sheets where they bit us! We quickly got dressed, got our stuff together to leave, and went down to the front desk. She asked how our stay was and I told her not well, explained the situation, and then asked for a refund. At first, she stated that she could only give me a discount. She then proceeded to explain that bugs such as fleas are common around the beach with it being so close to the water. I told her that I understood that, as I had lived near the beach, and explained that bed bugs do NOT come from being close to water. I showed her the pictures of the bugs explaining that they were bed bugs, and showed her the blood marks on the sheets. She then said, "those are blood spots from them biting you." She then changes her tune, and says that they won't charge me for the night. She then said that she would send the housekeeper up to investigate. Hopefully they will fix the situation, but I know I will never stay there again. read more

The view of the ocean was a 5. The hotel overall quality of service was a 1. The resulting average of the two ratings is 3. Although the Lighthouse website and emailed reservation confirmation (and policy) lists the check in time as 3 p.m. we were told they only guarantee "check in" by 4 p.m. Since we arrived at 2:50 p.m. Saturday we had to wait until 4 p.m. for our room to be "cleaned". When we pointed out the discrepancy between the website and the actual practice the front desk attendant told us we would have to take the matter up with Jennifer on the following Monday; "Jennifer would then give us a "discount on the room rate". Once we were checked in we found the room to be cold. While there was a remote for the heater in the room there were no instructions for using it. In order to get instructions for the remote the front desk clerk had to be consulted to provide a xeroxed copy of the remote control instructions. This place has everything I need when I stay in Pacifica! A secured building that makes me feel safe; clean, well appointed rooms; an amazing restaurant onsite and ROOM SERVICE! California Trip #8 I decided to stay at Best Western Plus Lighthouse Hotel (BW) for the last two nights of my trip for two reasons: 1) I wanted to have an ocean view. 2) It was close to the airport. I was willing to cough up some cash in order to have the luxury of staying on the beach, but to my surprise, I got an amazing rate at BW. Using my military/government ID, I scored the price of $140 a night in October. I was a bit leery after reading several reviews on Yelp, but my experience ended up being fantastic. Honestly, I don't know what people are talking about, but I knew I had to write my own review. The service was outstanding. Both of the gentlemen who worked at the lobby were friendly and courteous. I was upgraded to a beautiful ocean view room. Free parking in the parking garage and the elevator can only be used by customers who have a keycard. Walk outside the garage and there is Rockaway Beach. It doesn't get better than that. The biggest surprise was my room. It was large, clean, and did not look dated to me (per other reviewers); I was impressed! The first thing I did was open the sliding door so I could listen to the crashing waves. Watching the sunset from my room or the beach itself was a wonderful way to end an amazing trip. There are only two little things that make this a 4-star instead of a 5 for me: 1) There is no free breakfast. If you like to visit off-the-beaten-path places that aren't *too* busy, aren't *too* bouije, and aren't *too* mainstream, this may be just the place for you. When we went, the building was a little run-down (in some areas, a lot run-down). The property needed a little TLC. The restaurant was closed. It didn't matter; it was perfect. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The pillows plush. The sliding door, when cracked overnight, allowed the sound of pounding waves to lull us to sleep. We saw the spray from the surf jumping 20 feet over the sidewalk during high tide. The views were stunning from both our room and from the top of the small hill next to it as we did the beach trail hike. The foot traffic was tolerably light, and the food within walking distance divine. As huge fans of places that are a little out of the public eye, this was a gem. Close enough to the city to head over for niche eats and experiences, but cozy enough that we didn't want to. Will go back over and over until the rest of the hordes rediscover Pacifica. read more

If you stay here and have any type of billing issue, good luck! My husband and I decided to have an overnighter to escape our house for a bit. Pacifica seemed like a nice, close location, and the Lighthouse Hotel seemed like a decent place to stay. I booked via Hotels.com and used a reward night I had earned and paid the rest on my credit card. While checking in we upgraded the room for a nominal fee. The hotel was just ok - pretty much a motel on the beach, but it was fine for us. When we checked out I received the receipt for my upgrade...however, while inspecting my credit card statement a few days later I noticed they also fully charged me for the full night stay I had already paid for! I tried calling half a dozen times, and sent multiple emails, to have this resolved but never had anyone call me back or help me. I'm now having to deal with my credit card company and dispute the charge, which is a hassle I did not need. I've had this happen at another hotel once while travelling for work, and they were able to handle the issue asap. Beware - this hotel is not worth the headache!!! read more

It's been 6 months since I fell at the Lighthouse Hotel. I took a drive this morning & thought I'd drive through the parking garage to see if they'd remedied the parking blockade situation. Much to my surprise & disappointment absolutely nothing had changed. As my new photos show there are numerous opportunities where someone walking through the parking garage could fall & injure themselves, as I did. How difficult would it be to paint the blockades yellow or white so they can been seen?? I'm fairly certain I was assured that this would be done, yet it has not. Worst, customer service I have ever had...starting with lying about the room rate what was worst is that they waited until 5days later to jack me of $100. Then Matthew Spero, does not give any consideration for customers instead he makes sure to RIP you off...The room balcony did not even allow you to have access out on it and the little rail on the balcony was covered in bird shit. I understand that service industries are under stress during coronavirus. I do. We waited several extra hours for the 'cleaning' the hotel said was required and we were patient. First major issue: we paid a LOT extra for a room with a beach view and a bathtub. Our room had a view of the parking lot and sewage treatment plant (both of which are extremely loud) and there was no bathtub. We requested a change of room to comply with our booking and were denied on the basis that no rooms were available. We requested an adjustment to reflect our accommodation (which honestly for $200/night were poor; see photos) We called hotels.com to request a refund and they negotiated a change of rooms. So no bad on hotels.com. That said, this place was filthy and in bad shape. Greasy handprints and hair, splatters on everything. My boyfriend and I specifically picked this place because it's next to the beach and he was planning on proposing (this is her boyfriend adding this). They gave us a new room where the elevator doesn't work and we have to walk up four floors (I took over this post because my girlfriend lost a family member and this was meant as a retreat for her and my proposal). We went to the room and noticed multiple greasy head prints on the bed headboard which is understandable since people rest their head while watching tv. The headprints were visible and clearly made by multiple people. We were polite and asked the front desk if we could pick up some cleaning supplies to clean it ourselves. They reluctantly sent a cleaning person to do the job. He came and cleaned but wasn't happy; in fact, he slammed the door as he left. Bottom line: good location, we understand there are challenges during covid but please bill for what you are offering. Don't gaslight your customers. read more

So gross!!! Don't believe me? Check the pictures! Read this for all the gross details of blood and nastiness that was our room. I believe they didn't even change the sheets from the previous guests! Writing this for a bit of catharsis admittedly, hubby booked a stay here because of the amazing reviews and view. He also booked it because I am disabled and this is centrally located to basic needs because unfortunately I can't spend much time up and about currently. He put much thought and effort into planning this as it was my first outing since the pandemic and it was my birthday. Also, last year for my birthday we were celebrating in a hospital because I was so ill. Since I made it out he wanted to do something really special. So we pulled up ambitious for a great weekend at a great hotel. The Lighthouse Hotel was the antithesis of great in all ways. We still salvaged our time together, but the hotel started bad and just got worse. So upon arrival I was having a medical emergency, we called to let them know of our arrival and that we would need to get into the room immediately. I stayed by the car and my husband went to get the room ready for me so I could take care of things. It took 3 separate attempts to get our room key activated. Because of my disability I normally sleep in a recliner or adjustable hospital bed, we asked in advance for an absurd number of pillows for any typical person, but explained why. When I got my medical needs taken care of we called down for the pillows because our room only had the standard amount. My husband had to go down to the front to get them and they could only find 2. I ended up using hubbys pillows and doing the best I could. But was very uncomfortable. They informed us that only 1 person was working really. 2 but one was still very new to this location. Not even a house keeper available, umm and theirs a reason that's important. We examined our room and found some really gross stuff. Let's see, a faint bloody handprint in the shower, dried urine in the shower, and other bodily fluids in the shower, hair all over our towels, blood spots on our sheets and pillowcases, hair on the sheets, dried bodily fluids on the walls, dried bodily fluids on the headboard and around it, the curtains were filthy and had stains all over. We basically touched as little things as possible and just rested as best we could. I am not sure if this place is having an off time. We brought all of these concerns to the front desk when we went to check out. We were never asked how our stay was, we asked if we could address some of concerns from our stay that basically got ignored all weekend. This person that we just happened to record said they reached out to the general manager and that he would be calling us directly because she felt that we deserved more than a discount she could provide. He never called, we got charged the full amount... So glad I snapped some pictures of this place. My husband got his own and will post his own review from his perspective. Book a room from this hotel for my anniversary. Totally disappointed with what I got for $259.00 a night. This hotel offered nothing as to what was stated on website. Wi-fi did not work. The pool and hot tub was closed. The room was dark with outdated and furniture outdated. The ocean view was the rooftop of the property next door. Woke up to noises from the roof and worker next door. The hotel looks as if it is in the middle of renovation by the look of the unkept patio underneath balcony. The only thing good I can say about my room (354) is that it was clean. For $259.00 a night, I was expecting a lot more. I would of done better booking the motel across the street. The rooms are clean and comfortable but the dresser where the refrigerator is keeped opening up every time you walk around it. Also my daughter's boyfriend planned to ask my daughter for marriage and it also was her birthday and my birthday so we went there on December 26-30 and the weather was so bad that it picked up a segment bench and tossed it over a brick fence and landed in the parking lot where are car was and tossed a bunch of rocks on are car . They didn't even let us know that anything was going on we had to find out about it are self. If I could give this place no stars I would. What a mess checked into hotel immediately walking down the hall you can smell and see mildew all over the walls. Got into our room hair and dirt in the beds, hair in the shower, table covered in dust. Just dirty and gross $200 night they wouldn't even change the bedding when showed that the sheets were filthy. Loved our view from our room, but the furniture placement did not seem to exploit it. The sound of the pounding surf and the brisk breeze was a delightful change from city slicker life. Heat only in the rooms, no AC--not that we needed it. Literally on top of the beach and beside some cool places to eat. Ample parking, great walkways, large room, nice big counter beside the sink. Great ocean side hotel. We had a skyview room with a King bed. The room was updated and very clean. Loved the whirlpool and gym. There was plenty of local eateries and shops so we never had to get into our car once we arrived. I highly reccomend the beach and walking and biking trails along Rockaway beach. Booked a deal on Priceline. Trying to find a affordable place to stay in SF was nearly impossible! Well, unless you think spending $300-$500/night for a 3 star hotel in San Francisco a good deal. Just insane! So we went to Priceline to find a deal. I used the name your own price option and booked a room for approximately $180/night. Though costly, it was cheaper than all the other options. The drive to Pacifica was about 25 minutes, so not too bad and traffic going out there and back was non-existent. I wasn't sure what to expect with this place but wow we got a good deal. The hotel room was immaculate and very modern. I guess I was thinking it would be some old fashioned inn type of place but I was wrong. The bathroom has a modern shower head and was more clean than I've ever seen any hotel bathroom and the room was perfectly made. Yes, on first approach at night the outside seemed a little old but the inside is great. The receptionist was very nice and we enjoyed our walk up the hill and down the beach in the morning. Oh and if you're hungry Breakers which is right next to the hotel lobby entrance was awesome for breakfast! read more

We have been coming here for 15 years...always the cove rooms, 229 and 329 especially, and never disappointed. We just learned that they now accept small dogs with a fee, and ANY ROOM is available also with your pet. Everyone here is SO friendly and accommodating too, from the front desk to the maid staff. Our only complaint is this wooden railing barrier they have added in FRONT (room side) of the old patio railings. It now partially blocks the spectacular view that we've always enjoyed....and the only reason it's there is to keep everyone from standing on the two foot patio maybe ? If it's to keep the smokers from sneaking a puff, I noticed today that it isn't working. ..a guest in 332 was out there with a smelly Marlboro!! ? A better technique would have perhaps been a clear barrier such as plexiglass ? We'll definitely be back...it's always great to stay here...close to everything and still so relaxing ! read more

On a beautiful summer weekend, it is nice to come and spend time in such a place with such a beautiful very. On colder or gloomy days like the day I went, this place seems even more depressing. There isn't much to do within 5 or 10 minutes from this hotel. Only things around is a few shops around the block. read more

Did not explain housecleaning upon check-in, so used the door sign like said in sticker in bathroom. No one showed up. I went to front desk at 9pm and the clerk said we needed to notify front desk. No one told us! Towels felt damp. Bathroom was dusty! For the price, not the best place! Moonraker Restaurant is good! read more
