From the beach directly across the street from hotel

Enjoyed my 2 night/3 day getaway at this hotel. The staff were all kind to me and welcoming. I saw them working so hard and helping guests with warmth and professionalism from the front desk to house-keeping. The location was perfect for me bc I was looking for a place very near the beach. I was able to walk across the street with my beach chair anytime, but it was especially great to sit and watch the spectacular sunset (& with a free cup of hot chocolate from the hotel lobby!). I also loved the walking/hiking trail along the coast. Rockaway is only a mile away. The hotel pool area was great, I used the shower area to wash off the sand from the beach. I also used the jacuzzi as a soaking hot tub, since the jets didn't work. I didn't care bc I just needed to soak my sore legs and feet after hiking. The bathroom sink was slow draining, so sometimes filled up a little if water was running- it kept me mindful to conserve water. The shower had good water pressure. The room was perfect for me as a solo traveler. I saw couples and families there as well. I loved the Peruvian restaurant at the base of the hotel, esp the empanadas and chicha morada drink. The price of this hotel was very good, and much more affordable than others along the coast. I look forward to returning, as this is now my go to in Pacifica.

Perfect place to stay. We had semi view to ocean still it was very good. Quite and peaceful place where can you rest from busy week..

Location is pretty for an ocean view room, good if your on a budget, clean ish for basic sleeping and showering but outdated and damaged rooms.

Yuck. Listed as a $$$ hotel, I paid over $200 a night for a run down room with zero services. I relied on the reviews posted on hotels.com and booking.com, I unfortunately missed the more accurate recent reviews left here on Yelp regarding the condition of this place. Pros -The outside of the building looks nice -The property was quiet at night -View of the ocean is nice -Complimentary coffee/hot chocolate machine in the lobby -Bedding was clean Cons -Please check out photos of our room (run down and dirty) -One small trash can for a room that fits 4 people -2 bath towels for 4 people on a two day stay -Staff never showed up to replenish linens or tidy up room -Microwave stored in shelving under tv with no way to plug it in -Refrigerator door collides with cabinet it is stored in making it very difficult to open and close -No info provided at check in and also no info provided in room regarding pool, on site restaurant, where one might acquire some ice....etc -wifi is almost non existent.

BLACK MOLD. Save yourself the trouble and don't book here. Booking.com has this hotel rated much higher and it's so wrong. We weren't in our room 15 minutes when I started noticing mold everywhere. Our lamp was broken and the handle on our dresser falling off. The bed was old and creaky, we immediately went down to the office to ask for a refund. Destiny said we needed to call booking.com to cancel and they'd confirm the cancellation with them. We parked and called and our representative put us on hold when they tried to call the hotel and no one responded even though we saw someone at the desk. It's been three days with no response and no refund.

Frustrated.. My fiancé had dreamed of staying at this hotel for many years, and she finally booked it. There were many idyllic fantasies of our second night of vacation. Our first was spent in Tahoe, right on the beach. This one needed to meet a high bar. Before we even bring in our things, she's having issues with the WiFi. She tries the TV and it has Bluetooth technology but won't connect to WiFi so you can't access any features or streaming services. She tried the jacuzzi bath, and it fills quickly but doesn't reach a good temperature. She says the bed is too hard. She's having a really hard time and the staff is very unhelpful. She did this for me, and is heartbroken things aren't perfect. I think the goal of hospitality is perfection, and this does not make the cut.

Front desk person was sweet. Lots of issues with the computer, and it was more expensive than the online rate so she said to book it online and she would honor that price. If you are a person who is expecting luxury or has expectations about a hotel experience being super relaxing or having a fabulous ambience, this is not your place. But if you're okay with a comfortable place to crash for a night at the last minute that's more of a motel 6 style, this place will be great. They are in the process of remodeling and our room was clean. But it's not polished by any means. Our mirror was falling off the hinge, there was no screen door. The water was lukewarm. There was a nice heater in the bathroom. Everything felt very clean. No bathtub. Our room had a microwave and a refrigerator. I would come back to rent a room if I didn't feel like spending too much money.

If I could leave a zero I would. My family stayed here for two nights, just as others have said I should have looked at the reviews. DO NOT STAY HERE! Let me count the ways that this has been the worst hotel experience I have ever had: (I will start with the order in which I experienced the disappointment) - Parking was very difficult, getting into the tight spaces when the hotel is crowded was stressful (and I have a small vehicle), barely able to fit around the posts between spots. - The room had ripped drapes, the curtains were falling off the track and the guide or handle to open the curtains was broken off. - Drawer pulls on the dresser were missing - Carpet had large holes where the carpet met the tile -Tiles around the in room jacuzzi had large chunks missing/if you stepped on it was sharp and exposed -House keeping never came to clean our room or give us fresh linen...nothing...not even a sign that they cleaned their rooms. I used to be a housekeeper at a large hotel chain, I never once saw a cart down a hallway that made it seem like the rooms were taken care of. -OUR CEILING WAS LEAKING! Leaking in 3 places and dripping on the bed we were sleeping in...it started leaking at midnight and woke me up because of the sound because it was right next to my head. Not only was this obviously not a new occurrence, there was evidence of repair in several locations of the ceiling and mold in those spots. -The cost of the room 200+ a night you would expect a great experience...especially with the false advertising on their website, the room we stayed in looked nothing like the images on the website and the experience promised was not delivered. - Worst of all we asked to be moved on the first night and were told nothing was available...we didn't move hotels because we had arrived late in the day and had a flight to catch in another day and thought ok...we will stick it out, but little did we know the next night our ceiling would start leaking. When I went down at midnight to let the front desk know the ceiling was leaking they told me sometimes that happens with a heavy fog! WHAT! EXCUSE ME! We made several attempts in person and via their website to speak to management and get a refund or some sort of acknowledgment of an apology, NO RESPONSE from anyone after 14 days of our initial complaint. - I have called and tried again to communicate with management and still no response. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Update: After I posted multiple 1 star reviews on various websites for this hotel, management finally called me back and issued a full refund. But not before telling me my email messages that I sent through their website to attempt to get a hold of them went to their spam folder. Ok, not sure how it is my fault that the link you have for customers or a future customer to communicate with you on your own website doesn't work. They also mentioned that not all the rooms are this way...ok again, how does this matter to me as I experienced the room I got and it was disappointing. They seemed to have an excuse for everything. Still would not recommend.

    Ceiling falling in.

Don't stay here! The rooms are under construction and should not be rented until completed and inspected. They allowed us to book two rooms and when we arrived they were is disarray and would not give us a full refund even though they falsely advertised the rooms! Parking is horrible and not handicapped accessible. I don't know how the city gives them a completed order to occupy they should shut it down!

Absolute crap. This place should be ashamed of themselves for even letting people stay in this room. I paid $400 for a room worse than Motel 6. I will NEVER go back to this place or recommend it. It's a complete dump, stay far away.

Beautiful building across the street to the state beach. Note that they are in the process of renovating. I'm so glad that I got the newly renovated room, the walls need fresh paint to match the renovated room. I am very picky about cleanliness. The place is pretty run down but is in a good location and a place to stay for a night or two.

We found the Anchor Inn to be conveniently located to all of the things that encompassed to us a perfect overnight getaway: beach access, coffee, brews, good food, and scenic views in a safe space. The Anchor Inn checked all the boxes and then some. Spacious enough for 2 adults and a baby (we noticed other families in the units next to ours), the Inn has private stays that include a kitchen, bathroom with shower/towel/amenities, TV in sitting room, chairs to sit on balcony, bedroom with TV also, and heated floors! I usually walk around barefoot at home (not a surfer, but this most be an awesome feature for those hitting the waves all day), and I was pleasantly surprised when my toesies were warm all day/night..such a unique and fun feature! Customer service is excellent and they checked in on us by cell to see if we needed anything additional. Another great feature is your own parking right next to the front doorway. Very convenient for multiple trips with a little one! As mentioned, down the driveway you can get to Grocery Store Outlet, Soul Grind Coffee Roasters, Humble Sea Brewing, and a few other eateries and shops depending on what you're in the mood for. There's also a safe and convenient pathway (check the open field slightly to the left) that leads directly to the water if you're looking to board, bring the kiddos to play, or just looking for a nice walk alone or all the romantic feels. Did I mention you can also get directly to the Taco Bell in Pacific this way? Just a 10 or less minute walk if you're looking for the cantina vibes! Whether you're looking for a getaway with a friend or two, solo trip, or bringing the family, I can't say enough great things about this hidden gem. We're already thinking of making this a tradition for fall 2025!

The staff was friendly, and check-in was easy. The room was decent-sized, but still kind of basic. We had a fridge and a microwave, but no safe. We got a handicapped room, not sure why, but the balcony made it nice. The shower had super low water pressure. The remote blinds barely worked with the controller and the "fake view" on the roller shade was kind of comical. Unfortunately, the closet furniture required brute force to slide open or close the door. We took advantage of the free breakfast both days, and the menu was exactly the same each day. The eggs were pretty good, and the sausage was not bad either. It would have been nice if they had a bit more fruit selection; they just had bananas. Our flight home was delayed going back, so I asked for a later checkout (even just an hour), but they said no. I thought that was one of the "perks" of my Bonvoy status, but I guess not. Since it was a Sunday, I thought they could have let us stay one more hour. They did hold our luggage for us and seemed very surprised when I tipped the clerk at pickup. At 10:59 am precisely, "Housekeeping" was knocking on our door, seeing when we were going to leave. Close by the "Shore Shack" is a friendly little diner with decent food. Oh, and one important note --- T-Mobile has virtually NO signal inside this hotel. Your phone will be on SOS the whole time. Luckily, their Internet wifi worked pretty well, but I hate using unsecured networks. We'll be back for this event in the future, but given the cost, I'm going to look into other hotel options in the area as well. It wasn't a bad experience, but it's definitely not a 5-star experience.

I asked about being moved to a room with a functioning bathroom and was told that they had no ability to do that because they were not a manager and the manager would not be in until 7:00am the following day Monday 4/13. Shelley informed me that my ONLY option was to use the public bathrooms located in the lobby on the other side of the hotel...and they assured me that the manager would give me a significant discount/compensation for the huge inconvenience when I checked out. I called the front desk first thing Monday 4/14 asking to speak to a manager and was told by Lynne there was no manager in for the day. She said she was unable apply any discounts and wouldn't even grant me a complementary late checkout. I was informed that my only option was to leave a voicemail and wait for Jane to call me back when they will apparently be in the office on Tuesday 4/14. I paid a lot of money for this hotel room and it is unacceptable that it didn't have a functioning bathroom and that I was not given any assistance or viable solutions. I was also repeatedly given misinformation and I have no confidence that there even will be a manager in tomorrow or that they will call me back, provide compensation, and attempt to make things right. I have never had such an abysmal hotel experience and am shocked at the way this was handled.

To start off with the positives; the location is nice, the woman at the front desk was pleasant, the room was very clean, spacious, tons of closet and dresser space. The mini fridge and keurig were nice to have. As was the wall mounted electric fireplace (just for ambiance). Now for the "just okay" stuff, the tv has dish but that's it. There was no way to connect to any apps or options besides basic dish. The WiFi was a bit spotty. The parking lot is tight and small. The bed was mostly comfortable but the mattress is definitely on the thin side. The mini fridge rattled every 30 mins or so. The building is old so the walls and doors definitely look worn down. All of which were not huge deals to me. Now, on to the cons. This is where I find the website to be misleading. First the ocean views may be visible from the top floor, most expensive rooms, however my view from a bottom level king suite, was the construction site next door, the highway, and a peek-a-boo view of the ocean from a break in the trees across the highway. I also had no sliding door or any outside space other than the shared decks in front of the inn. There is also no restaurant or food/drink available to order. However, the worst part (in my opinion), is the noise! I could hear every step taken above me, every time someone scooted a chair, turned on a shower, etc... I could also hear very clearly everything happening outside my room. To the point of worrying that the tv in my room would be too loud for the other guests. If I was to stay again, I would definitely request a room on the second floor. Overall I would say it's a decent inn and a good option if you're needing a quick overnight stay. A bit overpriced but I feel that tends to be anywhere close to the ocean. If you're looking for something fancy or newer with more updated amenities, I would go elsewhere.

They also offer gluten-free bread and pastry options, which I appreciate. Coffee, tea and juices included. There is no hot food. One thing to point out is the rooms do not have air-conditioning. This typically isn't an issue because half Moon Bay runs cooler and comfortable temperatures for most of the year but my husband and I do prefer a colder room at night time so we slept with the door open. There was no ceiling fan, but they do have a couple of portable fans stored in the closets for use. Shower in our room had low water pressure, so not great for those with longhair. The hotel is right next-door to Sam's chowder House so easy walk. Beach access-there is a beautiful walking path right downstairs, which you can access from the hotel. The only thing between the walking path and the ocean is some rocks. I was told by a local that the water directly in front of the hotel is not swimmable but there is beach access with some water about 5 minute walk down the path. The path is smooth so easy for strollers, bikes or other means.
