(Review based on 2.5 stars) The Atrium Hotel is an affordable hotel that you can find in San Bruno that has free WiFi, free parking and free breakfast. My husband and I stayed in a family room that has 2 separate rooms (a queen size bed in each room), one shared restroom with a second sink area, mini fridge and microwave. For this room, it cost $124 per night (prior to tax/ fees), which really is very affordable for the bay area. Please note that parking is free and covered. But it is not gated. But while we had our car parked, our car was safe. Breakfast is served every day from 6- 9 am. Offerings included sausage patties, a folded egg omelet with cheese inside (one of those frozen meals), dry cereal with milk, some assorted fruit, bread, juices, coffee and hot water for tea. The room itself was fine and check in was quick. But the major problem I had while staying here was the incredibly loud noise coming from the planes flying into SFO. It wasn't nearly as loud to hear the planes taking off though. Although I had read that the quiet hour is supposed to be between 10 pm- 6 am, I don't think the many planes flying in at night have gotten that memo because I heard planes flying in until around 2:30 am (unless I had finally fell asleep) and then heard them again around 5 am. I am a light sleeper so I hardly had any sleep during this hotel stay. My husband, who is a heavy sleeper, also struggled to fall asleep and stay asleep. I wouldn't recommend this place if you think the noise will bother you like it did for both my husband and I.

The Atrium recently changed owners (according to someone I spoke with on the phone) prior to 10/1/22, it was known as Comfort Inn & Suites. On a recent business trip, I booked this hotel because of the location. It's easy access to both the 101 and 280 so for me to cross the Bay Bridge or go in to the Sunset was convenient. Plus, it's 5 minutes away from my friends' home. The surrounding isn't the best as there's a auto shop next door and surrounded by residential apartments. Sometimes, I hear someone trying to start his 'vintage' van in the early morning. The room is aged and it shows. Drawer knobs are loose, paint peeling a bit, doors are chipped but that's only if you're paying attention. Otherwise, it was comfortable for a single traveler. For some reason, my room stayed nice and warm throughout my trip. The bed has clean white sheets and pillows. The mattress isn't top shelf quality but not bad. They have small toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, lotion and makeup remover, plus small bar soaps. The rooms have a small fridge, microwave but no in-room safe, which would've been helpful. The fridge is so cold, all liquids I put in there froze. There's also a coffee machine that brews coffee pouches offered by the hotel. I brought my own pour-over because I'm a coffee snob. The glass elevator is on the outside of the building so you can see the neighbors, and they can see you. There's a breakfast room that's open from 6a to 9a, located on Floor 1. It's small, has a TV and overlooks someone's backyard. Hi kids!! They offer cereal, yogurt, mini muffins, apples, milk, oj & aj, tea, coffee, and waffles you can make, which I did on my last morning there and it wasn't good. Savory stuff: Only egg & cheese small omelettes and sausage patties, plus toast. The lobby at the bottom is very small. The staff is friendly. There are some seats for travelers to wait for their ride. They have hot water for tea and coffee at the lobby area, which leads to their parking lot. The parking is covered but not gated. So be smart and don't leave valuables in plain sight. When I stayed there, the hotel was doing some transitions. At one point when I was working on my laptop, it sounded like they were dropping bowing balls on the roof. They also changed WiFi during my stay, and it seemed faster after the switch. Overall, my stay was comfortable and decent. Being in town for work, it met my needs. There are plenty of good restaurants within 10 minutes drive towards San Mateo. Tips: * call them to inquire about airport shuttle service. * If you're getting gas, the station that's 2 blocks away is higher than the ones that are off Camino Real, about 5 blocks away * Occasionally you'll hear an airplane fly over. Bring earplugs to sleep at night. * The rooms have no USB ports so bring your own.

SERVICE & CHECKIN An inviting small-business family-owned vibe. Their cordial & earnest staff provided a swift checkin experience. Early checkin was also free & Parking available onsite. Tap payment didn't work. Housekeeping staff are quick but noisy & unconventional. LOBBY, ELEVATOR, CORRIDORS An underdog. The reception area isn't much of a lobby. It's technically the garage level & more functional than social or decorative. But the common area on the first guest floor was very pleasant & had a quaint community feel. ROOM https://youtu.be/go8-11lIgMs Spacious, clean, & modern suite with a lot of function: Vibrant lighting, operational windows (cloudy & need a wash), sufficient storage & plenty of tabletop space. Dated color scheme & fixtures, yet it wasn't uncomfortable. Phones are overdue for a refresh; The number list is so old it's begun to brown & the Jack was broken so it slipped out constantly. BED (king) Excellent. Quality linens, supportive mattress, & so many pillows! Besides reading lights were great for low-light work late at night. BATH Pleasantly surprised. Small dimensions, dated low toilet, & tired design BUT they didn't compromise on the bathing experience--A premium combination tub with jets! Other highlights: High cleaning standards Well-maintained tile Textured towels Large vanity Manual exhaust & robust ventilation Roio toiletries TV & ENTERTAINMENT ~30" Samsung TV... duct taped to dresser; Unsightly but fully functional. Basic programming content offered. Ports were easily accessible & the model was mostly compatible with Google TV. WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION Good cell proximity; shouldn't have any problems with tethering or call quality. Heavily Imbalanced WiFi bandwidth which you'll feel if trying to multi task. Otherwise it was fine. --Performance-- Video streaming - good Online gaming - great Video chatting - great --Nerd Stats-- 78-98 Mbps download 4-6 Mbps upload 0% packet loss 12 ms latency 19 ms jitter FOOD & DRINK NOT DoorDash friendly. Wet bar sink, large mini fridge, full size microwave, & Hamilton beach coffee maker in room. No dish ware pre-stocked. Light Breakfast 6-9 & beverages in lobby. NOISE Noisy housekeeping was a bit of a headache. The residential area is also rowdy & there isn't much in the form of sound proofing. For the most part it was fine. VERDICT A Strong airport hotel with personable employees & a competitive offering. I'd stay here again & recommend it if this spot is on your radar. 4/5

Supposedly there are blackout curtains but not obvious after playing around with the curtains for several minutes

I chose this property specifically for the airport shuttle and had an extremely frustrating…read moreexperience that was made worse by how it was handled. I called ahead in advance twice to coordinate pickup, but was told no accommodation was possible. I ended up paying for an Uber. At check-in, the front desk associate understood the situation and offered to reimburse the Uber, advising me to come down the next morning to have it processed. The experience changed completely when dealing with management. The manager was dismissive, took no responsibility, and explicitly stated that the property is not responsible for honoring ANY of its listed amenities at any given time. Despite the reimbursement being discussed at check-in, I had to follow up multiple times over two days. Even at checkout, I was told it would need to be "looked into" with no clear resolution, which forced me to ask for contact information just to continue following up. The real issue was not the shuttle schedule, but the handling. A simple service recovery turned into an adversarial process that required repeated effort on my part and lacked basic accountability. What made the situation worse was what happened after I left. I had already checked out, my bill had been finalized, and my receipt had been issued. About an hour after checkout, I received a call from the manager. Instead of confirming the reimbursement that had already been discussed, I was asked whether I had parked a car on the property the night prior, followed immediately by being told there would be a $25 parking charge. Parking had never been mentioned at check-in, check-out, or at any point during my stay. I was then told the Uber would be reimbursed for roughly the same amount. The parking charge was processed immediately, while the agreed reimbursement required receipts, additional confirmation, and multiple follow-up emails to complete. The contrast between how quickly the charge was applied and how difficult it was to complete the reimbursement created an unnecessarily adversarial and frustrating experience. I escalated this through Marriott corporate and explicitly requested review beyond the property level. That request was never honored. The case was routed back to the same property management and ultimately closed without any independent response from corporate, even after multiple follow-ups. I opened a second case, and it was again sent back to the same manager, resulting in the same outcome. That lack of follow-through from Marriott was the most disappointing part of the entire experience. As a frequent Marriott guest, this fell well below expectations -- not because of a policy, but because of how the situation was handled and how escalation was ignored.

It's also relatively close to Burlingame for delicious food. The beds are comfortable and everything was absolutely clean and everything is as expected... But I think what's best is the gentleman at the front desk he was so kind and just very much took care of me. The management at this property is completely ineffective. I stayed here for two nights. The hotel is old and outdated. The mattress is as hard as concrete, providing no rest. My room faced the street, and the traffic noise was constant. The bathtub and shower combo was extremely outdated, and figuring out how to turn on the shower faucet was frustrating. Every floor had an out-of-order sign for ice. Parking costs $10 a night, and I was not offered a waiver for signing up for their "rewards program," unlike a couple in front of me who were. This is clear favoritism. I contacted management via email with no response until the manager, D. Huddleston, saw my online review. Then he responded claiming he had seen my review and would look into it -- which he did not. After following up, They don't have any amenities that any other hotel would have except shampoo and conditioner. They didn't have a microwave or a coffee maker. I still received no response. My 3 night experience, was good from the painless checkin though I arrived near Midnight, to the easy approval of a requested late checkout. My stay was over 3 days, and because of how I extended my stay I experienced 2 rooms both at the end of the hall. FYI: Rooms at the end of the hall will result in limited traffic. Both rooms were well maintained, and clean. Because of my sleeping preference I requested and received extra blankets. My queen bed rooms had a mini fridge, beverage machine, comfortable chair to lounge in, and a nice work desk and chair. Bathroom had dispensers for shampoo, body wash, etc. The hotel provides high speed WIFI, affordable coin laundry, emergency toiletries, safe parking for a nominal fee, and a generous breakfast buffet that includes standard, juices, pastries / muffins, scrambled eggs, fruit, cereal, coffee, bread, 3 self serve waffle stations, etc, plus they rotate meat (sausages) and additional starch options (potato / biscuits & gravy). FYI: if in a rush you can request a Togo container from the person responsible for the host / hostess station. The hotel has numerous other features such as a shuttle service, gym, and business services. Plus the location advantage of being across the street from a McDonalds if a guest gets a late night craving for munchies. The Hotel is near both SFO & busy roads, but I used the Amazon / Alexa application via my phone to play white noise when sleeping so that in my case the area activity did not disturb my ability to sleep. Overall it was a very pleasant experience, and I would eagerly recommend this Best Western property.

But this time around the room not so much. Four of us stayed in room 103. Last week we stay upper floors and the room looked cleaner, fresher, etc.., The carpet in room 103 is a tripping hazard, old and ripped. We didn't want to change rooms because we were exhausted from a straight 8 hour drive. Only reason I have a 3 star instead of a 1 star is because the front desk ladies are fantastic. I heard it was gabbys last day. So at didn't get to see her. Probably on maternity leave. She was prego when at met her. Jaclyn was helpful as always. But Lauren was exceptional. We last stayed at an AC hotel a decade ago in Valencia, Spain. The hotel is sleek, clean, and very European in style. Even the toilets in the room remind me of the ones I've seen in London. It would have been an easy 5-stars but I need to deduct a star for in-room amenities. First, the positives: 1. Hotel is very clean and has an excellent patio with lights and a relaxing vibe. Excellent gym too. 2. Great Cafe for breakfast but also a full bar with DJs on Fridays, and Cocktail and Cooking demos through the week. 3. Free Infused water, tea, and Costco trail mix (with regular and peanut M&Ms). Hydration stations everywhere so no need to buy water. 4. Beds were comfy and all of us had great sleep. The Negatives 1. Our in-room fridge was not a true fridge, and despite their maintenance guy helping us reset the temperature to 34F, it could bot reach lower than 47F after a day. No big deal for drinks, but a big no-no for storing milk for our toddler. 2. Rooms were clean and sleek, but some more shelving and storage space would be nice. 3. Housekeeping service seems to need 3-nights minimum stay, so none for us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying here again. Maybe it was just bad luck that our room had a faulty fridge.
