I tried the baklava, and it was absolutely delicious! Super flaky and sweet, exactly what I was craving. I'm so glad that I found a great local place to buy baklava! It's hard to find a place that makes it fresh and high-quality like this. I will definitely be back for more! read more

Idk what it is but I've tried this place 3 different times and they always manage to mess up my order. The 1st time I got a wrap and paid for extra avocado to be added and there was no avocado. Mistakes happen,.. The 2nd time I tried the chicken sandwich and I brought it to the cashiers attention the situation that happened last time ( I love avocado ) this time he made sure it was on the sandwich but idk if the dude was being sarcastic or what but I swear there was no CHICKEN . WTF oook. The food is not gross at all.. So today 3x is a charm I tried something different. I get the margarita flat bread and I wait the 10/15min mind u I'm on a lunch break by the time the flatbread comes out it's literally a whole different pizza than what I ordered!!! The dude offered to make the original flat bread I ordered but it's like I'm on a crunch time. I don't like making a big deal so I just took the pizza. I am done donating to this local cafe at least to the La Mesa location. Simple orders and 3x they manage to fuck it up. Yea I would not go back and waste my money. read more

Pleasant surprise. The place has ample parking, which is very unusual for La Mesa. It's a nice place to have a conversation without being rushed. I tried the Cali Pistachio Coffee and, although I liked the pistachio flavor, the syrup was too sweet for me. (Last time I had an excellent drip coffee. read more

This place is quite amazing, from the vibes to the drinks I would recommend it to anyone who wants coffee and keep in mind I do NOT live near this place, I've tried a handful of iced coffees and a few food items and I've had good luck everytime my only complaint would possibly be that they put a little to much milk in the coffees but you can just tell them to go light, amazing place! read more

This place is almost never open when I go 2+ hours after they're supposed to be open! I would hate to order something ahead since they do take a while just to find out the place isn't even open. The owners should update their hours even if they're understaffed would rather appreciate that. read more

I've had this place twice and I can say it's pretty good. Service is quick and friendly. Lots of things to choose from on the menu whether it's food or coffee. You can also order from a little tablet if you don't want to wait in line. I never had Turkish coffee before so my second visit I tried it. Not exactly my cup of tea. I'm not exactly sure what goes into Turkish coffee but I know now that I don't like it. HOWEVER, their regular espresso is delicious. The latte was perfect. Not too sweet. I don't remember which bagel is pictured as that was my boyfriend's bagel but I ordered just a regular bagel with cream cheese. The bagel was great. LOTS of cream cheese though. lol I love cream cheese but it was a lot so be wary. My first visit we had gotten to the shop right at open two weeks ago on accident. We wake up really early so we just stumbled upon it trying to find coffee. So it was quiet and quick. Last week we went again on a Sunday maybe 30 minutes into them opening .. tons of people. The wait was quick. Definitely will keep coming. read more

I like their app. I didn't realize I've been there enough times to claim a reward. What a treat!! Ordered my favorite coffee .. Turkish Hazelnut -special beans with cardamom flavor. I also tried today their *Turkey Pesto Panini- turkey breast, provolone cheese, pesto, mayo, and roasted red peppers served on focaccia bread The reason why I enjoy the coffee is that I like the creaminess and flavor of it. I was a bit disappointed with the sandwich .It is a good sandwich but it's way too much bread. I feel it could have been so much better if they had used a panini press or toasted the bread to give it a little more depth. (The bread was NOT toasted ) read more

I have been super pleasantly surprised with this place! There aren't a whole lot of places with good matcha latte in La Mesa, so definitely wasn't expecting such a yummy strawberry matcha latte here!! I've been twice now and both times have been quite good. The employees are really friendly and smiley, and the actual space is cozy and has so much seating. I'm glad I don't have to drive all the way out to convoy whenever I want a good matcha anymore :) read more

Great food! One of the better sandwiches I've had in San Diego. Also great chocolate chip cookie :-)

My first time coming here and I'm surprised that I haven't been here sooner! I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk and it was pretty tasty, but a bit on the sweet side. The stand out was the pistachio croissant. I would go back for that for sure. I ordered the blueberry muffin it was ok but slightly dry towards the bottom. The inside was so cute and cozy. They had games and books which makes this place a good spot to get together with some friends. The food was a bit pricey so we didn't get a sandwich. Tried to use the kiosk to check out but the card thing wasn't working. Overall a solid place! read more

I didn't like the coffee but that's definitely not their fault. I would probably go back and try something different. Came here in 2020 for coffee and thought I'd try it out again. As beautiful as their pastries are and their unique coffee menu, the staff was rude and the place were very dirty. Every table needed to be wiped down. As most coffee shops are, it was a bit loud, which made it hard to hear the coffee orders. When i walked up, I asked the employee what she said, her response without even looking at me was "it's on the cup" in rudest manner possible. I tried telling her that I wanted an iced coffee not hot like how it was made and she rolled her eyes and said it was what the receipt said. The other costumer behind me also confirmed that when ordering said iced and not hot. She didn't offer to make me another coffee nor fix the situation. Just carried on wiping the counters. Also want to add that it was not busy a busy time that we were there (3:30pm). Sadly I won't be coming back here. Such a disappointment in service and I was pretty embarrassed for recommending to try this place to my family who was exploring SD. read more

C'mon - easily earned 5 stars. The location is fairly convenient, outside is okay but interior is green and fun. Should also complement the solid playlist during my visit. About the food: I ordered the Chicken Muenster on gluten free sourdough. This was next level! Perfect organization of ingredients - always a fan of well thought out ratios, seasoned well, and the serving size was perfect. Finding that balance of crunch versus softness with toasted gf bread is usually difficult for folks, but Lightbulb did it right. Balance struck with flying colors. Will absolutely be back. read more

The coffee itself is ok, which is why I've come back more than once. Unfortunately, the experience around pricing has made me feel uncomfortable each time. On one visit, I was charged a surcharge without being informed beforehand. On top of that, there was an additional " additional hcharge" added to the order. This was confusing and frustrating, especially since there's no table service or extra amenities that would explain added fees. The second time I visited, the prices charged didn't match the prices listed on the menu. When I asked about the difference, I was told the prices had changed and that the menu just hadn't been updated yet but there was no notice or heads up before ordering. I don't mind paying fair prices, but transparency matters. Unexpected surcharges and inconsistent menu pricing make the experience feel sneaky rather than welcoming. I hope they address this, because the coffee itself is solid, but the lack of clear communication makes it hard to enjoy coming back read more

I had a disappointing experience today. I ordered a roast beef sandwich, but after we left and I opened the sandwich box, I realized it was actually a turkey sandwich. Unfortunately I didn't have time to go back and get it fixed because I had somewhere I needed to be, which made it even more frustrating. On a positive note, we also ordered smoothies and those were really good. I just wish the food order had been correct so the experience would've matched how good the drinks were. Hopefully they can double-check orders a bit more carefully in the future. read more

Huge update! I came back because I saw their instagram and noticed a lot of new happier faces and new drink flavors. Walked in and was greeted right away with a lot of smiles. I asked questions and they answered them so nicely! Inside are still very homey vibes as is the music. I'm happy to be back! I ordered the eggnog iced latte, husband got a peppermint latte with cold foam, and a pistachio croissant. Everything was delicious! The croissant was so fluffy and flakey and had a cream center that was light and airy. I would get that again! read more

Overall: SO SO Good, a must go if you're around La Mesa. Great variety of food and coffee Food/Drink: I've had the hummus veggie bagel and chicken sandwich, both of which were perfectly seasoned and made fresh. The mochas are great and they offer dairy alternatives as well as sweetness adjustments. I like my coffee less-sweet and 1/2 sweet was perfect for me. Ambiance: A generally quiet space with whimsical decor and and array of couches/stools for work. The atmosphere is typically quiet but can be slightest louder during busy hours. Parking: Parking can typically be found easy enough in the plaza lot. Street parking is also available nearby. read more

I love to have outstanding experiences everywhere I go! Lighthouse Bulb Coffee is one of the Best GO TO" Coffee places to visit! The menu provides a creative and a nice variety of coffee drinks to choose from along with a great variety of sandwiches. If you love desserts, there are plenty of artistic and decadent desserts to choose from. I enjoyed everything about this coffee shop from the ambiance, cleanliness, friendly staff, coffee, and sandwiches. I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to order a different flavor of coffee. I chose an Iced Turkish Hazelnut Cardamom coffee which had a strong flavor, but I did enjoy it. I also ordered an egg white turkey bacon bagel breakfast sandwich which was so "AWESOME" tasting! The flavor was so good! It's hard to describe, but it had so much flavor and was so healthy! It was a perfect breakfast! I left a satisfied and happy customer! I've been to Lightbulb several times over several years. Food is always good, but more and more is telling me to stay away. Customer service is good and the ambiance is nice. However, coffee is always a gamble and inconsistent. I don't order anything crazy either. Cold brew with a splash of half and half. Sometimes it comes out like milk, like they forgot to add any milk, or somewhere in the middle. I consider myself lucky today, however, I asked for light ice. As you can see by the picture, that didn't really happen. In fact, there was so much ice that a good portion of my drink came out the top when I tried to put my straw in. Another thing that bothered me was the inconsistency between the menu prices and the actual prices. I noticed a dollar difference on my sandwich alone. If i'm coming back, i'm not getting coffee and i'll hope the prices shown have been updated. read more

This place is great. I came in for the first time and walking in you are greeted with a really large space. They have both communal and personal space where you can keep private or social. They have plenty of outlets for folks to plug in their laptops and work/study. Now, I know why you're reading this review; you saw the delicious pastry that I posted. I've never had pistachio anything and this thing was callin my name. The top has some type of frosting or custard topped with chopped pistachios. The inside is filled with pistachio custard. MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS. this thing is so good. It's not too sweet. And if an Asian person gives your dessert or pastry this review, you wear that with a badge of honor. Absolutely delicious. Service was slow and the coffee is very mild. I got the Spanish latte and I was extremely disappointed, it tastes like sweet milk. My girlfriend got the iced mocha, which claims to have 3 shots, but tastes of nothing but chocolate milk. We ordered 2 pastries and waited for over 20 minutes. It feels like a place that focuses too much on their appearance, and merch, instead of providing a quality product or experience. read more

What an amazing time we had in the little suburb of San Diego called La Mesa. We were downtown with a hankering for coffee and baked goods (as usual) and came upon Light Bulb Coffee. It is such a pretty space on the outside and on the inside with its lightbulb decorations and charming areas with books, greenery, and tables. The vibe is very cool there. They had an extensive array of delicious looking baked goods and drinks. We got the feta basil croissant which was soft, flaky and to die for. The chocolate chunk cookie while gorgeous was a bit hard and dry but that didn't stop me from wolfing it down. I skipped the coffee when I saw they had Thai Iced Tea and it could be made with Oat Milk. It was so creamy and so good. I died. I would highly recommend this place. The place is a cute little cafe in downtown La Mesa. I wanted to stop by for the coconut pudding which they didn't have but I got a mango coconut parfait with chia, raspberry turkey panini, a cinnamon roll and vanilla caramel iced coffee. The raspberry turkey panini was yummy. The raspberry gave it a nice sweetness with sliced pears to add some tartness. Panini was toasted perfectly with lots of turkey and arugula inside. I really enjoyed it. The cinnamon roll was a waste of money. Even after being toasted, it was hard as a rock. I was very disappointed and actually threw it away. The iced coffee was good which had the right amount of sweetness from the vanilla and caramel. Loved the mango coconut parfait because the mango puree was so good, it tasted like real mangos topped with crunchy granola and raspberry on top. I would probably come back again to try another drink from the menu but as for food, I could pass. They do have more pastries but I wasn't as intrigued with the options they had. read more

This place has changed in the last few years since I wrote my last review and definitely for the better. This recent time visiting, they had updated their services with options for self service kiosks in addition to in person ordering. Their croissants were amazing and fresh with new concoctions like pistachio cream filled croissants. I also tried their lightbulb coconut coffee which had excellent flavor and real coconut shreds in it. I'm determined to go back now since their menu items have significantly improved. I highly recommend at this time. read more
