They currently have a blood orange and basil latte on their seasonal menu and it is amazing! Lattes can sometimes feel a bit heavy but this combo of flavors makes it so refreshing. As always the team is super kind, love it here!

I haven't been back in a bit but I still love the vibe here. Came on a Saturday morning and it was busy but I was able to find a spot. They gave a decent amt of indoor seating and a few small tables set up outside. I got a bag of beans (they offer a free drip or espresso shot when you get beans) and the seasonal mulled and cranberry latte, half sweet. The latte was very unique. It was almost savory because of the spices they used. The cranberry flavor was a little light. Mostly spiced flavor. Happy I tried it though.

Tried Seven Seas from their food truck at the Little Italy farmers market and was so impressed by their coffee! They weren't overly sweet and the flavors were on point. The honey cinnamon was a perfect balance of cinnamon spice and slight honey sweetness that complemented the coffee well and the caramel cold brew had a delicious, rich caramel flavor without the sweetness that made for an incredibly smooth, delicious coffee experience.

This place was really cute! I loved the presentation for my cappuccino. Lots of nice touches to the interior like a fish tank in the back and a giant mural. They have about 5 tables which were completely full with people working on their laptops. I was able to snag an indoor/outdoor seat on the bar window. Decently priced and I also had a bagel which ended up hitting the spot. Nice baristas!

Been coming to Seven Seas for years now, and there is a reason why! The coffee and staff are great! The space is unique and clean, with a decent amount of seating inside and outside. The menu has something for everyone, whether that's a straightforward pour over or a unique flavor. They've also got some delicious food on the menu. The Driving Me Caprese toast is amazing!

The banana split latte really does taste like a banana split!!! It was such a good drink, it had a maraschino cherry and walnut garnish and a banana cream foam top! I was able to get my drink with oat milk but the cream on top only had a dairy option. I really wanted to try their desserts because they looked so tasty, so I will definitely have to go back. The location is pretty small, they have a few small tables inside that seats about two people at each one. I really enjoyed the sea esthetic and decor, including the cool fish tank they had. There is no parking lot so it is all street parking. Staff was friendly and the coffee was served quickly!

Our party grabbed a few of these coffees as a get-ready snack and I'm glad we did because it definitely kept us up for the long night! Yummy drinks and good central location for a grocery run. It's a very small spot and not that much seating on the inside and there's street parking available. We ordered through their app and it was fairly easy to customize your drink online as well, which I appreciate. We waited quite some time for our drinks. We waited for some sort of announcement or indication that our drinks were ready but they were just sitting at the counter. If you order through their app maybe sure to check in at the counter to see if your drinks are ready!

This coffee roasters falls in my top three in SD. The beans are divine, the staff members are cheerful and polite. Today's experience I got my usual and left with a bag of beans! Friendly atmosphere; this place is cozy on this 40° day.

I like the ambiance of the place, marine themed, casual trendy. I ordered a latte and a lox bagel for breakfast and the latte was great, but the bagel was taking forever to come out. I saw the lady behind me in line had gotten the same bagel order before me so I asked to inquire and they had lost the order. So bummed. It took a long time for it to come out after I requested it again, and I found the bagel so plain. Granted I had recently eaten my way through all the bagel shops in NYC, but I think they could have done better!

On my most recent visit I tried a seasonal latte, tarragon, after being intrigued by its description on their IG. It was in fact delicious! The tarragon flavor came through in a subtle but noticeable way. My only note is that they make a very milky latte, without strong coffee flavor - which isn't my preference, but is still tasty. Small place with some seating but best to plan taking your coffee to go during peak hours. Staff is friendly and efficient.

I came here yesterday to do some work on my laptop. I looked for coffee shops nearby that had Wi-Fi and was pleasantly surprised when this came up and it was open beyond 4 PM. I ordered the triple coconut latte with oat milk and it was so delicious. Sometimes folks can overdo the coconut where you don't get that coffee flavor still but this had a nice hint of coconut and it wasn't overwhelming. The staff are pretty friendly, and I felt welcome enough to stay and work in peace. I'll definitely be back to try the handheld and other snacks this place has.

The parking here sorta sucks but other than that it's a great coffee spot! The workers are nice and helpful. The coffee here is always great. I did pay for a pup cup with my dog patiently waiting to get one which she of course loved and they do have a salt water tank here

Matcha Latte and Americano

The matcha and coffee both had great flavor, not overpowering at all. Great food options too, it's a great place to study and/or catch up with a friend.

Awesome cinnamon honey coffee! I got the Belgian waffle which they don't provide syrup for which I found strange. Cute place though

Wait outside on the sidewalk (no exterior seating) and someone will come to take you inside. Do not ring the door bell. The theme is to take it slow. Each customer typically waits 20-30 minutes to enter as part of how they do things, even if there is open seating inside. Not sure if they use a timer to space entries but it seems consistent. They take one group in at a time. Interior: A few tables around the wall and then bar seating. Would not recommend for parties greater than 2, there just isn't the space. They welcome service animals, babies/children and strollers from what I observed. The music was very, very loud. It was difficult to hold a conversation. I did not see a bathroom. Ordering process: After seating you wait for a little bit for them to bring small water cups and a QR menu with a table number and a set of rules. They do not have a physical menu, you must use your phone to order. Cell phone reception was dicey and took a long time to load. They have an interesting concept where you have a digital 'tab' open on their toast website. Unfortunately you must provide your full name, email and phone number. They have pour over drinks (note these can take 15-20 minutes), matcha, Hojicha and others. You may only order one drink per person at a time. They have a small snack menu with rotating foods. They use oat milk only. No substitutions allowed. After mobile ordering, drinks take 20-30 minutes as part of their take it slow vibe. Matcha $8 is from Paru tea and was very good. Hojicha $8 was too milky and didn't have a strong enough flavor. When you are done you walk to the register by the door and wait to be checked out. If they are making a drink you wait until they are finished. I wasn't really a fan. Staff were brusque. Music was too loud to converse.

The menu featured various matcha tea drinks which seems to be all the rage right now. The same seating arrangement of the bar countertop and tables across from it was available if you wanted to hang out and chill. A sign behind the bar described the ceremonial grade matcha that was used with the region of origin and the flavors imparted to the powder. Five different matcha drinks were offered along with hot and cold coffees and lattes. The top three matcha choices were priced at $8 each. I chose the Ordinary Pleasure which was the first one. Pandan sticky rice milk and mango puree were added to the matcha and topped with a salted coconut foam. I wasn't a fan of the foam, but the matcha flavor was intense and contrasted by the fruity puree on the bottom of the cup. The baristas were very focused with measuring the exact amounts for each ingredient in the drinks they were preparing. The matcha quality seemed to be very good based on what I tasted so maybe it's why the price was $1 higher than what I have tried elsewhere.

I honestly expected this drink to be very gimmicky and too sweet but was surprised when it seemed to strike the perfect balance. I could taste both the matcha AND the mango puree AND the salted coconut foam without one overpowering the other! What delicious witchcraft is this? The mango was subtle but there. The drink was creamy and thick. Such a refreshing summer drink! The cafe itself is super cute and quaint with a trendy, boho chic vibe. Baristas were super friendly. I would come back again!

Food: 5/5 Drinks: 4/5…read moreService: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 I love the Dark Horse brand across the board, but the Golden Hill location has consistently been my favorite. The baristas are kind and efficient, and they remember my dogs which of course wins me over instantly. The location itself is super convenient: easily walkable, a fair amount of street parking, and easy access right off the highway. I also really appreciate that they have lots of outdoor seating and offer pup cups, so I feel comfortable stopping by with my dogs. I also love that they have a rewards program via Cash App/phone number/the credit card you use. It's especially convenient that this is all tracked digitally and automatically when you swipe your credit card. For drinks, I've ordered: The Champ (iced): 4/5 A very popular choice. I do enjoy this coffee and the honey flavor is lovely, but the cinnamon can be a bit strong for me. They use powdered cinnamon over the top, which from a texture standpoint isn't my favorite. I do find the cinnamon is less overpowering when this drink is ordered hot instead of iced. Salted Maple Latte (iced): 5/5 This is my go-to. Delicious, strong coffee without being bitter and very well balanced overall. The maple flavor doesn't jump out in an obvious way, but adds a subtle sweetness that isn't overly sweet or sharp. Interestingly, I think the 16oz is better balanced than the 12oz in terms of coffee/milk/maple ratios. Pumpkin Spiced Latte (hot): 3/5 I'm not the biggest pumpkin spice latte fan, so I wasn't expecting to love this. It does have a clear pumpkin spice flavor, but the texture coats the mouth a bit more than I prefer (likely from the pumpkin), which is part of why this isn't my favorite. For food, I've ordered: Vegan Donuts: 5/5 I thought these used to be made by a sister company of Dark Horse, but I believe they're now sourced from Nomad Donuts. They usually have 1-2 rotating flavors each day, and since the main difference is the glaze on top, you really can't go wrong with any flavor you get. The texture is closer to a cake donut. Super tasty and not too sweet. Almond Cake: 5/5 Delicious and decadent. Very light, sweet, and crumbly. This isn't something I'd get regularly since it's just a bit too sweet for me without feeling like dessert, but it's undeniably tasty. To summarize, this is a consistently solid location with great service, excellent drinks, and small bites that pair perfectly with your favorite cup of joe. This is my go-to neighborhood coffee stop.

Sadly the ice cream shop was closed when I came back around 2pm. I found that to be odd, or perhaps it was open~ it was dark and doors were closed. But anyways, thankfully, Dark Horse Coffee Roasters was still open till I believe 3:30pm! (I went on a Sunday). They have indoor seating and a big space outdoor for seating. We found parking on the street, no paying needed. They also have a bathroom, which is nice, but most people don't ask for the key (since it's essentially open, only locked when in use). The door is frosted and you can see the outline of someone as they stand near it. I think it could be a little more frosty! There were a lot of workers the day I went and they were nice. The prices were good for specialty lattes and the guy informed us that both sizes use the same amount of shots (2), the only difference is quantity of milk! I got a classic, $6, 12 oz Iced Salted Maple (S'Maple) Latte. It was good, but I wouldn't mind if the salted maple was more flavorful. It's quite subtle! The outdoor space is really great for meet ups with large groups of family/friends/work. I think this location is really lovely and would recommend people to come check it out!
