I've had my Bruno straitlift for 6 years and this is my first need of repair. The visit was scheduled in 3 business days. They sent out John C. from the Sacramento office. When he arrived he diagnosed the problem quickly and he had the necessary circuit board on his van. He was efficient as well as personable. John also fixed a couple of other glitches I had with the chair. I now have a chair that works like new. I'm a happy and satisfied customer. read more

When they did finally arrive, they were eating lunch before installation of the ramp. Second, the ramp was installed but not safe for me or my client to use. Someone could've tripped on it, and/or my client could've fallen off the side of the ramp that wasn't secured. They would not make it safe for my client. Instead, they removed it. Absolutely Horrible & Unsafe We bought a stairlift for my father just 6 months ago. Yesterday, it stopped working when he came home from a doctor's appointment. He couldn't walk upstairs and was stuck in the garage. I called the company numerous times--only the sales department answered, and no one cared to help with service. We ended up calling the fire department to carry him upstairs. This was dangerous, humiliating, and could have seriously hurt him. This company only cares about selling, not about safety or customer support. Their advertising about "comfort and security for older people" is completely false. If you value your loved ones' safety, do not buy from this company. read more

The reason we go to the expense of these devices is because they're crucial to the mobility of our elders. In our experience it's taken months to get it fixed and is still inoperable. As such, our elder is severly restricted. Customer service is non responsive to explain the delay. read more

Our old stairlift stopped working and we had no safe way to get my husband safely downstairs for 3 doctor's appointments the next week. Lifeway Mobility understood our problem and installed our new stairlift the next day. We were able to safely keep all 3 appointments the next week. read more

We rented from this company in March 2025, only because they could install it the fastest. I wish we had taken the time to explore other options. They gave us a contract that said we could purchase it after six months for $500 and that our rental fee was $250. They started charging our credit card tax on the $250, with no mention of that in the contract. Then, when we decided to buy the unit, they charged us for the month we bought it and would not refund that fee even though it was charged only 3 days before they charged the purchase. The delay was mostly caused by them because they don't answer the phone and you have to wait for them to get back to you. Only the sales people return calls right away, not customer service. On top of that, the motherboard broke on the unit shortly after we purchased it. Take your time and find another company. So far, we recommend Stairlift Masters if you are in the Los Angeles area. We received far better communication and service for the second unit we needed. read more

I'm not sure what will become of this review after I actually get help. I understand being short staffed but it seems that's when you bring everyone into the loop. This chairlift is considered medically necessary. When it does not work it is a medical emergency. So I agree this is only with three stars and may end up being half a star or none ! read more

We had a Lifeway Mobility Stairlift installed at the end of February. My husband was at the point of having to decide if he wanted to go downstairs in the morning or, if he was downstairs, did he want to go back upstairs at night. It was quite a dilemma. But Lifeway Mobility changed out lives! Their representative was knowledgeable, thorough, and helped us plan the best way to proceed. There was a long wait (from October to February) because they had to manufacture the specific unit we needed. After the delivery, installation was quick, and our stairlift was up and running within a couple of hours of their arrival. All in all, we are 100% satisfied with the company, the product, and the representative who guided us through everything. It is a great blessing to have in our home! read more

Life is full of surprises! I needed a stair-lift since our only bathrooms with a bath or shower is upstairs. La Diabla was in the hospital and would need physical therapy before being able to navigate our stairs. We have a straight flight of about 15 feet. I didn't want to purchase since the stair-lift wouldn't be needed for more than a month or two at most. Yelp did not let me down! Called on Thursday and talked to Crista. Very helpful. Guess what?! They rent! 3 month minimum but cheaper than purchasing. There's an option to purchase with the rental paid applied. Check the details. Alex was there on Friday and provided arrival time updates when he was delayed. Great communication. Made some measurements and talked about options. Since I was pretty sure that I'd pull the trigger, he provided 2 install dates & times. Pulled the trigger on Saturday. The paper work was emailed and I signed and paid. Installed late afternoon on Monday by Jose. Jose is awesome! He's the trainer for installers. Fast & clean install. I posted pictures. Equipment is clean, I'm in the rental business & rentals aren't always the prettiest! Easy to use with a battery back-up if power goes out. I paid the deposit and scheduled the installation and it was quite a long wait. But then, just prior to the installation date, I was informed that the installation had to be rescheduled because the technician was injured on the job. After the installation, I tried to schedule a service call because one of the armrests is not working. I had to wait 3-1/2 weeks for the service date. But then, guess what, after I waited all day on the date of the service call for the technician, who never showed up, and I called them twice (first time left a message that was not returned) to complain, they told me that a technician (Josh) was injured on the job and that they needed to reschedule again for yet another two weeks out. Except that Josh was NOT the technician who they told me would be on the service call. Worse yet, they told me that they both called and left me a voicemail and sent me an email a couple of days prior to the date of the service call and, of course, I received neither one. Strange, no? I just keep thinking that, if my new stairlift ever stops working, how long can I expect to be without it if their technicians keep getting injured on the job. Not very happy. read more

I tried to get my system fixed from the middle of January to the middle of March and finally gave up. Here is my experience. Week1: Called for service. No response. Week 2: Called again, spoke to a person who scheduled service for following week. Week 3: Tech came, said it was the motor, under lifetime warranty. Said he'd contact manufacturer, get back to me. Week 4 & 5: No response. Called again, spoke to woman who said she'd been wondering about this service call and would look into and get back to me. Week 6: No response. Week 7: Called again, woman said she's send someone out. I said someone already came out, said it was motor. She said he was new and more experienced tech might be able to fix. Week 8: While waiting for tech she called and asked if I knew I had to pay for service call. I said why, if 1st tech was incompetent. She said 2nd tech agreed with 1st tech, saw videos he took. I asked why he was coming out. She said she'd get back to me. She did and cancelled appointment. Week 9: She called back and said they got a new motor but had to charge me $1200 plus $400 service call. I said it had lifetime warranty. She said it didn't. I have paperwork that said it was. They refused to honor it. I gave up and had chair removed. They charged me $600 to take it out. They will fix it up and sell it for thousands. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS FIRM. read more

Our overall experience with Gamburd from first contact to completion of installation has been exceptional. Dealing with any company during Covid times requires patience, protocols must be followed to keep everyone safe. Our installation got rescheduled and Crista Pounders, manager of the SF showroom in Union City, worked to make sure our installation was done the next available date even though they were short staffed. Ivan came and installed the chair. He was very professional and got the job done quickly (within a couple of hours) and with minimal mess, which he cleaned up. He showed us how to use and perform monthly maintenance on the unit. It has been over a month since we had it installed and so far the lift chair has worked well and has been a great convenience, allowing my 91 year old father the ability to sleep in a room upstairs. I would not hesitate to contact Gamburd if we have any issues with the chair. We bought a refurbished chair (that saved us money) which looks new and operates well. It also has a one year warranty. We brought my mom to stay with us during the lockdown and decided to look into a stairlift. All three companies we contacted were great, but Gamburd definitely has their communication and COVID-19 protocols down. We had a Facetime consult to learn about the product and show them our stairs. Then they emailed us a written quote. The next day someone came out to measure the stairs and check clearance and outlets. He observed safety precautions and was done in less than half an hour, leaving us with a more detailed quote, service plan info and product brochure. Once we decided to go with Gamburd, we were able to get an installation appointment THE NEXT DAY by signing a contract online and putting a deposit on a credit card. The only less-than-stellar moment was the scheduling. According to my husband, our appointment was for 12:00, with a 2-hour window before and after. At 2:00 I called the company; they said they'd track their man down; and someone turned up at 2:30, right as I was leaving for a doctor's appointment. He said he'd been told 1-3. Danny was great, and I was actually grateful to be gone for most of the install as the drill is LOUD. He was thorough, polite, cooperative, communicative, respectful of health protocols. He wore a mask and shoe coverings the entire time, made sure I took a test ride, mounted both remotes exactly where I asked, asked if I had any questions before starting and after. I miss the days when you can give workmen a beer and chill in the porch a minute. Mom absolutely loves the chair, and my husband and I love how it didn't require any modifications to our space and folds flat against the wall out of the way. The only thing we don't love is that the tiny plastic lever in the arm that operates the chair popped off on the second ride. The company kept stressing how they were American made, so it seems ironic that such a key component is so flimsy and designed to be lost or damaged. read more

Yes, there were 2 installation guys and I asked the main guy in charge. Also I know seats don't necessarily need to be upgraded cuz I tried the standard chair after installation. Lastly, you did defer the false statement you made to the manufacturer by forwarding my emails and it never got resolved after multiple emails.* (This is 100% real review from my personal experience.) My mom needed stairlift in her house as soon as possible due to her medical condition. So when I looked in Yelp, Gamburd had excellent reviews and I started the process of getting a quote by the owner, Israel Gamburd. In person, he was very friendly telling me about his family and kids and how he started his business. I was impressed by the high tech gadget and detailed quote he gave me so I was quickly sold. BUT after that, I quickly found out Israel is a slick dishonest sales/owner. We were anxiously waiting for much needed stairlift and when it finally arrived Israel called me to schedule date for installation and told me it will take at least 4-6 hours so I took a day off work.... I waited, but nobody showed up and when I called him, he denied the scheduled time and no apologies. I thought, ok maybe I got it wrong... after waiting another week, when the installation guys (2) showed up, main guy (forget his name but older with years of experience) actually was honest and told me Israel made him go to different job that day and he also found out that morning. Installation guy apologized instead! My advise... purchasing a custom stairlift (ours cost approximately $13k) is a a big purchased but needed so I would get different quotes and not get fooled by sleek sales guy like Israel. 2nd lie, he also highly recommended upgrading chair (additional $$$), DON'T do it, standard chair that comes with it is perfectly fine. When I asked the installation guy about the difference, he said standard seats are good too. 3rd lie, he also told me the chair height will be custom to my moms sitting height and her measured her legs so her feet will touch the platform when sitting on the stairlift chair. NOPE! Her legs were hanging and when I asked him about that, all he did was defer it to the manufacturer and no resolution after several emails. It was very disappointing experience. As the owner of a company, he is dishonest, irresponsible and he will not own up to his mistakes. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 star because his staff was at least honest. read more

I had 2 Bruno brand outdoor stair lifts installed about 2 years ago. Gamburd was recommended by a friend who had thoroughly researched the subject. Their price was reasonable and the installation experience was excellent for me. We live up a steep hill. We use the chair lifts to transport heavy objects such as groceries and luggage up the stairs. They have become essential to our living in the house (we are both 75). I had a problem with one of the lifts this week. I called and spoke with Christa, who patiently went over all possible solutions that I could do. When nothing worked, she scheduled Daniel to come over the next morning. He diagnosed and repaired the problem in about 10 minutes. Overall, I am very impressed with their service and skill. Cameron came out to our house to give us an estimate: we chose Gamburd and Cameron was great! After seeing me, we went to the Skilled Nursing Facility to review with my wife. Then, once we were set to go, Cameron "went the extra mile": when I told him that the flooring guy was over, he could tell by the stress in my voice that I was overwhelmed. Great follow up experience with this company. My mom's Bruno chair was making a beeping sound. I sent a chat message to Gamburd and no later than 30 minutes later I get a call from the owner at 6pm on a Sunday! That may not happen every time but that sure amazing service. The issue was that I wasn't cleaning the copper contacts in the back of the rail. After I cleaned them no more beeps and the Bruno was being properly charged. We decided to contact Gamburd which is now Lifeway Mobility as we had used them a couple of years ago for a different project and felt they did a good job and were pleasant to work with. It should be noted that Gamburd was bought by Lifeway Mobility and is no longer the same company. Our most recent experience with them was awful. The sales staff were good and we received a prompt estiamte, however after that we received no communciation regarding the estimated timeframe for the order. I had to call repeatedly to verify timing, as there was an urgent need for the product. After finally confirming an installation date, the team that arrived for installation did not seem to know what they were doing. There was in issue with the fit of the product and they seemed to not know how to solve it or who to contact. We declined installation, as they could not guarantee it would be solved at a later date, if we accepted the prodcut as is. Then I spent a week and a half chasing after them, trying to get an udpate on the prodcut and a solution as I said it was an urgent need. They did finally install the prodcut and although it's not perfect, it's functional and at that point we were desperate for anything. Fast forward to a month later we get an angry email saying we are past due and they will send it to collections if not paid in 5 business days. I paid the full amount I was asked for at installation, and never received any other informaiton about addiitonal costs or billing. So was very shocked by the tone of the email. I paid the amount asked, but the whole experience was deeply troubling. I would not recommend their services to anyone. read more

The Bruno chairlift is wonderful, but the installation was problematic. 5 stars for the lift, 1 for installation. Here are the issues: 1. The technician left a real mess - aluminum filings all over the stairs and front walk. Apparently he was not using his usual truck and didn't have a vacuum, and was in a hurry to get to the next job. But he could have asked to borrow our vac. 2. The automatic slow-down at the bottom wasn't working - the chair would land with a hard "clunk". The technician returned and readjusted some sensors and it then worked well. But... 3. After that, the chair started incessantly beeping during the night. The technician had forgotten to plug in the power supply, and the battery was running low. It took me a while to figure that out. 4. The swivel chair started getting loose. I found that the Allen head bolts were never tightened. Being a retired engineer came in handy - I had a set of metric Allen wrenches and cinched them down. 5. Lastly, in looking through the user manual, I saw that the installer was supposed to give us a product registration form - nope. So I went to Bruno's website and registered online. Now it's all good, mostly. read more

David showed me a custom model that would go from bottom of my steps to my door in one movement. He said it would take 5 weeks. 5 weeks later, Denzil & Jose came early & in 2 hrs installed & showed me how to use it. I'm very happy. The lift & chair blend with the house & run so smoothly. Gamburd installed our Bruno outdoor stairlift 2 yrs ago: we selected the Bruno product because: 1)Made in USA, it was $ 500 less than the nearest competitor 2) Motor was guaranteed for a longer period 3) can routinely handle up to 300 pounds.It has worked well and reliably and my only regret is that I didn't get one sooner. Gamburd's installation was fine, no problems and they recommend a yearly service call that is a bit pricey at $ 300, but given the unusual nature of the product, probably worth it. Gamburd responds to questions and concerns promptly. In Contra C C, a permit is required and there were some glitches in finalizing the permit: City permit people suggested that Gamburd pull the permit rather than me doing so as it makes Gambrd responsible if anything goes wrong with installation. Christa called me first thing Friday morning and gave me a quote.She was able to get one of her sales guys, Jose, to my parents' house that day for measurements and have Danny install on the morning of Xmas eve.
