Power plates! New! Two!
Victoria O.

I don't even know if Yelp allows you enough characters to express my love for this club. First of all, when COVID-19 hit Manhattan, NYHRC and LifeTime had already announced their merger/conversion. I had 30 days coming to me for referring a guest through NYHRC and then 8 days left on my prepaid membership . The 23rd St Lifetime didn't open until November and I moved to CA in December so those days were just hanging there (until I return to NYC). Lifetime has been the Equinox for the burbs and Middle America many years. The clubs are vast. Like Co-Op city if it were a luxury club with spa, massage, waxing, Pilates, yoga, spinning, weights, pool, steam, sauna, cardio.... This LifeTime is evidently a "boutique" but it is cavernously large to me. There is no pool at this location but it is absolutely beautiful and the steam room is half the size of my NYC apt. It's a bit heavy on eucalyptus and my eyes began to burn but I didn't care. The dry sauna is a wonderful pine and very hot. Huge locker room with decent shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a particularly nice body lotion. They even have razors (no gym does that post-COVID) plus shaving lotion, q tips, and makeup wipes. Everyone is really nice and the whole club has large windows. It's bright and airy. Enormous cardio area. I didn't take note of the ellipticals or treadmills as I was just there to steam and sauna post-travel nightmare (Hertz rental disaster not yet resolved: I go tomorrow to see why they gave away a car for which I prepaid in June via Priceline). I really like the color scheme downstairs and the yoga room is nice. They have teak storage for shoes. Tons of foam rollers and other props. I have no idea what the place costs but when people out of NYC and LA complain about gym prices, it usually means just south of 200/month. In NYC, Eq Sports Club is 330 or so, and the regular membership 250. Whatever it is, it's worth it. My only suggestion would be to turn the music down in the locker room and the gym in general. People listen to their own music but even so, the booming bass is audible. The cafe looks wonderful and they have all kinds of spa services, CBD gummies and creams for sale. I will eat at the Lifecafe/juice bar tomorrow. Los Angeles will never have a luxury alternative to Equinox due to the square footage requirement (Equinox has already taken over the available spaces: i.e. Sepulveda). That's why LifeTime never came to NYC. When NYHRC decided to cede four clubs out of the 9, they moved in. But then the pandemic hit. LifeTime put 25 million dollars into four clubs. I don't know what's happening to the remaining four. Madison/50th shut for good. It will be interesting to see if LifeTime gets the market share of Equinox disaffected members. There was never a luxury alternative in the city and now there is. SO grateful. Training for Sharkfest Golden Gate and I can't weight train without steam/sauna for recovery. P.S. TWO BRAND NEW POWER PLATES! They cost between 10 and 14 grand. My club in SB used to have one (6 plus years ago). I almost cried when I saw TWO overlooking the 405 through the trees.

Healthy chicken enchiladas! From the cafe - YUM!

Life Time is an all-around A+ athletic club. From the management team to the trainers, from the teachers to the locker rooms, everything is stellar. The club is sparkling clean and you will see all team members, including managers, wiping down machines and pitching in to keep the club gleaming. The equipment is new and plentiful, and they offer classes in five different studios (Pilates, yoga, barre, cycling and fitness). Multiple classes daily to choose from, in addition to managing your own personal workouts. The trainers and teachers all offer quality instruction. Hats off especially to Melissa, Michelle, Kelly and Ryan. Not a member? You can drop in for a minimal fee to give the club a whirl. Don't miss this gem! PS - each locker room has its own steam room and dry sauna.

Couscous salad! Flavorful and filling. Best place for lunch at the Bravern!

This review is for the Lifecafe. Having worked at the Bravern for almost 10 years (since it opened in Sept 2009), I have been mainly having my lunches in the back room of my work. After finding this gem, I will be sending my guests down here for a nutritious lunch as well as sampling everything on their menu. Make sure to get your stamp card started so you can save after the 10th item in four categories. Jenny, who works in the cafe, is so personable and is a diamond in the cafe. Everyone here is great! They offer smoothies, salads, pizzas...all seem to be well received by the guests here. You can also pick up protein powders and snacks if you are looking to make smoothies at home or need something for the long ride home. Thanks for being a great neighbor!

My wife and I were previous members of the David Barton gym, which first occupied this space as a gym. David Barton was a bit more 'body builder' in that the focus was more on weight lifting. And pretentiousness. It's still too early to tell if Lifetime will be much different, but based on the opening night tonight (4/12) it could go either way. However, based on the friendly staff in the upgraded space it looks very promising. I can tell you that there are many significant upgrades that make this space much more inviting than David Barton. First, the entrance used to be shaped like a skateboard half-pipe which was all wasted space, but has been replaced with a much more functional café. And my wife keeps reminding me this is the place where you can order shakes through their app. I think that's a good thing, at least my wife is really excited about it. In terms of exercise equipment, all of their machines are new and are well organized throughout. Windows abound, and they all look out onto an open expanse that covers 405 South. It doesn't sound very interesting, but it's a great view of the entrance of downtown Bellevue. It's also much more open and airy than David Barton was, and looks much more inviting. Additionally, the staff is all very friendly and the locker rooms are also vastly improved. This is a hard feat given how great they were beforehand, but now include an upgraded sauna and steam room in both the men's and women's locker rooms. They also offer massages on premises, spin classes, and many other classes covering a wide spectrum of activities. My wife also tells me that this is cheaper per couple than Orange Theory which is down the street and occupies a much smaller footprint. The only advantage Orange Theory has over Lifetime is the easier parking which doesn't require validation. But other than that, Lifetime is vastly superior and much more upscale in every other way. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm kinda looking forward to working out here...

Still *love* this gym. Wanted to add that I've been doing PT sessions (8x a month) with their personal trainers, Jeremy and Andrew. Can't recommend them enough! Both know their stuff, provide excellent feedback, support, and motivation, and something that didn't occur to me ahead of time - they help get the weights/exercises setup, which makes my time in the gym that much more efficient! This is a review of the meeting rooms and catering food served during the events…read more Let me start off by saying this venue is not perfect. It has lots of room for improvement - some of which I will get into the details later. BUT! Compared to some of the other venues in this area, they are above average. Due to the nature of my job, I have been to several meeting/ball/conference rooms at various hotels all around the world. I participate in a monthly training at Bellevue Club, so even though I am not a member there, I get to use some of their facilities and catering food. They offer several types of lunch options. Mexican, Asian, Mediterranean, and American. The food quality tbh is just okay. But okay is okay! It is what is expected of food like this that is prepared for 200+ guests. I am not sure if they make their own desserts or not but I do enjoy their desserts more often than their lunch offerings. For example, Apple Tart (as pictured) was quite good! It was very sweet but the nutty flavors from the pecans and cinnamon balanced it out. I just wish that the food quality is more consistent. Some months, we get meats that are just way over cooked. Some months they come out near perfect. They have several meeting/conference rooms of different sizes and I have been in at least 4 different rooms. The room are clean and seats are comfortable enough. Projectors work and sound system is just fine as well. Zero complaints there. All the service employees I have interacted with have been very nice! I know there is a set minimum purchase for food/drinks to rent the room(s) but I do not remember the exact dollar amount. Based on memory, I did not think it was that expensive. Parking is free but they ask us to park at the Hilton parking lot, which is within 3 minutes walking distance. Just be careful - there are some designated parking spots owned by Diamond Parking. Do NOT park in these spots. You will be fined. I do not understand what Diamond Parking owns a certain number of spots inside of a hotel parking lot. Not cool! Bellevue Club also offers valet parking. I am not sure if this is only for the hotel guests though. I have not tried but I have interacted with the valet parking staff. They are all very nice and cool. That's about it! If you need to borrow a meeting room for 100+ people on the eastside, I can definitely recommend Bellevue Club.

I really like this location, but I have two major concerns that will determine whether I continue…read moremy membership here. First, the temperature and ventilation. It is incredibly hot inside. For a gym environment, proper air circulation is essential, yet the air feels stagnant and there is a persistent, strong odor. It is very difficult to work out in these conditions. I'm literally drenched in sweat the moment I walk in, and the lack of fresh air makes me feel lightheaded and dizzy during my sets. Is there a working AC system? Are there plans to improve cooling for the summer? I need to know this before I decide whether to renew my membership or not. The last three months have been unbearable, and I believe this might even be a safety/health code issue. Second, the equipment. Many of the machines in the main area, specifically the hip abduction/adduction (inner/outer thigh) and leg curl machines, are broken. While the renovated zone is great, these essential machines have been out of order for a while. Are there plans to repair or replace them soon? I would appreciate a clear response so I can understand if I should continue coming here this summer or if I need to look for another gym where the conditions are safer and the equipment is functional.

It isn't like typical gyms, it feels more like a gym-resort-wellness center. It has high ceiling and ventilation is great. It can get smelly if it's super busy but that's why I go in the morning. I also like how everyone just focuses on themselves and no one is judging or being "weird." It's like everyone working out on their own pace and no judgement. I also had no experiences of going to the gym. It feels daunting initially because there's so many machines and it's overwhelming, which is why I particularly wanted to get a personal trainer and I love mine. Ainura is wonderful, she remembers the body goals im after and she helps me with a workout plan that will help me. You can see photos of my 3 month progress as proof. I've also had to visit out of state gyms due to work and I can safely say... pro club still the best. Love the staffs, environment, aura, and my trainer. The Ultimate Premium Paradise (If You Hold a Paddle)…read more Let me start by saying: don't let this visual rating confuse you. It's perfect. It's magnificent. It's bespoke luxury. But only for us. The minute I picked up a paddle, I realized I was royalty and that Bay Club understands true elite status. My every minor whim is their command. I casually mention the "squeaky old basketball courts" are a bit archaic and inefficient for our gentlemanly strategy? Poof!--they literally roll a glorious slab of semi-permanent, cushioned vinyl right over that outdated, varnished hardwood. It's absolutely chef's kiss. They paved over the past, and I got more nets! The acoustic-deadening luxury is unparalleled. Who needs to see wood grain when you can have industrial-grade linoleum that silences the ghosts of whatever irrelevant sport used to be played here? This is what peak performance looks like: endless courts, endless tournaments, endless "Zero-Zero-Two!" shouts echoing through the hall. We don't need to sweat like animals; we dominate from a neat 10-foot box with true finesse. And to those disgruntled, archaic hoop-heads lingering in the corners? Please, evaporate. Your sport is a relic, a shambling corpse, and the NBA is literally a joke propped up by shoe commercials and social media drama. The refs couldn't spot a travel if a player packed a suitcase, booked a direct flight out of Sea-Tac, and walked through TSA with the ball tucked under their arm. Did they take three steps? Four? A gather-step? Just carry the ball like a running back, nobody cares anymore! There are no rules, just chaos and unnecessary, vulgar sweating. Seriously, the puddles of "hard work" they leave are a public health hazard. Disgusting. The old days are gone, Grandpa. I hear other people complaining about cleaning staffs being cut? Or the weight room looking like a monochrome hospital ward? As if that matters. I'm too focused on my next dink to notice dust, and who lifts weights when you can master gentlemanly strategy? Thank you, Bay Club, for finally prioritizing true culture and paving the way to the future. Keep the vinyl coming! See you all in the kitchen! Fine print: (This rating is purely for maximum visibility, as nobody reads 5-star reviews. Attracting your eyeballs was paramount.)
