Excellent Eastern European Jewish food in Ardsley, NY! We've been going to the branch in the Bronx for many years now, so we were thrilled to hear they were opening up a branch in nearby Ardsley. We've been to this location twice now and have been satisfied both times. Both times, we have come with big parties, and so we were able to sample quite a lot of the menu. We had the same waitress both times, and we found her to be very professional and reliable. The ambiance is plain, with funny posters on the walls. The chairs are a little uncomfortable. The branch in the Bronx has long, comfy booths. The last time I came here, I had the burger, which wasn't quite as good as I remember the burgers at the Bronx location. I really wanted to like this deli being it is the only one around. Hopefully they bring Ben's back. The first time I came to this restaurant was the first week it opened and for a group of 8 we had several issues - worst being raw chicken skewers. I just went there again after giving them plenty of time to improve. I ordered a stacked deli sandwich with 2 meats. According to menu I pulled from the counter it was $25. I asked for extra lean which was an up charge - since 2 meats it was $8. I would have expected for $33 if that was the case but they charged $36(pre tax). I called the manager over and his response was it's an old menu and I could not have gotten it from them and walked off refusing to honor the price. I said he can check the camera which is 5ft away if he was accusing me of somehow stacking an old menu. I understand I am paying a premium for kosher but that does not mean I am giving up on customer service. I would hope if other people run into similar experiences they look elsewhere until there is new management or the current one goes to training and changes. read more

Did takeout today 3:30pm. The two girls at the counter were very unfriendly. No hello, no thank you, nothing. They looked like they would have rather been any other place on the planet then at work that day. The 3 stars was because the food was good, Pastrami on Rye was flavorful and satisfying. Knish was good. Will give another try hopefully the manager will work on the greeting of customers problem. read more

As promised, I went back to try the pastrami. While the pastrami itself was good, the sandwich was severely undersized. When I get ha sandwich at Katz' I take half of it home. After polishing this entire sandwich off, I was still hungry, so I went across the way and had a donut at the new pizza joint. Go h to Epstein's in Hartsdale. Usually go to Epsteins, but decided to give Liebman's a try for a family gathering, knowing the reputation of their Riverdale location. Called to place a takeout order. Was taken on and off hold four times and was then asked to call back 20 minutes later. I called back 20 minutes later and got the same person. She started to take my order, but then said she'd be right back and put me on hold again. After a few minutes someone else picked up. I said the previous person had started to take my order. I was told that person had now gone on break. Now for the food. Ordered pastrami and corned beef. The pastrami was fatty and mostly chunks and crumbs - and fairly flavorless. The corned beef was slightly less fatty, but still basically flavorless. The prices are exorbitant. We won't be going back. I recommend you go to Epsteins. read more

We had been taking out from Epstein's in Yonkers off and on dating back to the 1970's, with varying success. Then, in April of 2024, a longtime employee said that the property was being taken over by a supermarket for rebuilding. He referred us to Liebman's his new employer which opened in March. The quality of everything we order is unbeatable. We order cooked chicken, soup of the day, and gefilte fish, for example. Everything tastes great. I wouldn't try anywhere else. read more

A second location ti the Liebman's in Riverdale, this one is not taking a second seat, however!! I've been a few times now, and unfortunately my tasting have been limited, but ohh what dishes they are! First off, the pastrami is as good as anyone's' (including Katz's). The only difference really is that at liebman's I believe machine slice very thin. Still piled high and delicious. The potato latkas and fried Sree both spot on (sadly no sour cream) along with yummy cole slaw and pickles, you can't go wrong. I recommend getting a chocolate egg cream as well. This place really brings the old city style Jewish deli to Westchester (and unfortunately the price) and it worth many trips. read more

This is a tough one. Not the meat, that was lean. Walked in to a brightly lit establishment with workers who were friendly. The hot dog was acceptable. The matzo ball soup was good and the pastrami obviously the star of the show. Coleslaw and dressing on the Jewish rye bread hits the comfort spot. So why the reduced stars. First was the argument of requesting a small thing of coleslaw on the side to put on top of the sandwich. Instead forced into buying a whole container. It's yummy, but didn't need extra. But the ultimate frustration is for all this delicious food is a very heavy price tag for not that much quantity. I understand costs are high but $25 for only a sandwich is a bit steep. I hope for success for this business, but adjusting their prices may welcome more customers. read more

Liebman's in Ardsley is terrific! The food, service and atmosphere really excelled! Very reasonably priced for the value. Clean. Our waiter provided very friendly service and went out of his way. Have been to Liebman's in Riverdale several years ago and decided to stop in today to try the new Ardsley location. Had a Pastrami Sandwich and Chicken Soup. Both were excellent. The Pastrami is probably some of the best I have had in my life. Staff is friendly and helpful. The only issue are the prices. I don't mind paying a little more for better food. But to me, a little more is 5%, 10%, 15% ... maybe even 20%. But $26 for a Pastrami sandwich? A good 40% premium over the going rate? I probably will be hesitant to return for this reason. The only other issue is parking which can be difficult, but if you're patient, you will find something. read more

I first went to liebmans when they first opened and they forgot part of my takeout order (which happened to be very expensive). I let it go as they were swamped and new. I was just craving matzoh ball soup so I gave liebman's another shot. The matzoh balls are literally the worst I've ever had and the quart was 20 dollars. I have been to the original location many times and it was always delicious. I was definitely rooting for this place but these matzoh balls taste like straight garlic powder. They're almost inedible. Went to Liebman's in Ardsley for the first time....all I can say is it was the best pastrami sandwich i have ever had......it was huge. We both ate half and took the other half home....even the half we ate we had to take some off the sandwich because we couldnt fit it in our mouths.....we ate it with a fork....I love cole slaw and this was so good.....on the way out with both bought 1lb of of chopped liver and a Huge spinach knish.....both were so good....we both live in Dutchess, but the drive there was worth it.......... read more

Disgraceful. The quality of the food is awful. The prices are outlandish, and the service is rude and inefficient. They started off strong in the summer, but clearly took their early success for granted. I will not go back. I have been there 10 times, but will not go back. Each time, it got progressively worse. Visited for the first time at 12pm today. Only 2 people at take out. It look 15 mins to place my order. There is a girl at front who looks like she should take orders but she's there to only answer the phone and to take your money. Not friendly at all and not a welcoming feeling. What kind of system is that, the people preparing the food have to stop and take orders.....When the person in the front is sitting there trying to not make eye contact, with all the customers waiting to order. After waiting, my order was taken. You should know what you want before you order because they make you feel rushed. Now the food, I ordered a corned beef sandwich which I thought I was getting a Ruben but I didn't. Definitely my mistake because I felt rushed. The second sandwich was half pastrami and half brisket. I like the option of half-half. They came dry with only meat and bread. I asked for condiments on the side. Overall the place is underwhelming and way over priced at $51.00 for two very small sandwiches (they stack the meat perfectly so it looks big but really it's not) read more

Got take out for the 3rd time. Service is prompt and sandwiches excellent. One thing to avoid at all costs are the fries and onion rings-on take out. They take them out of the frier and wrap them in aluminum foil turning them in a hot ball of potato gue. Get a knish instead. read more

Great, great, great. Went here with my Mom and had absolutely fantastic corned beef and chopped liver. Spectacular potato pancakes. Even the Cole slaw was outstanding. I was introduced to the Liebmans in Riverdale about 3 years ago, I really enjoyed going there, the service was great as was the food. I tried the new Ardsley location a few weeks ago and i won't be going back there again anytime soon. First of all, it was challenging to find a parking spot close by. When i got inside, i was pleasantly surprised they did a really nice job of the decor - the black and white floor was very clean and the artwork on the walls was interesting at best. When i opened the menu, i was shocked to see that a salad with grilled chicken was $24. A small side salad with no protein was $12! A pastrami sandwich was $29 and the people at the table next to mine were ordered it and it was tiny. I would have thought it would have been a lot larger. The waitstaff were very cordial, however the service was awful and i had to ask 3 people for a refill of water before i finally got one. On the way out i wanted to get a single black and white cookie, like other local deli have, but they were only mini's in a package. The other baked goods were packaged as well and didn't appear to be fresh. I would definitely go back to the Riverdale location for the ambiance and better service before i would go back to the Ardsley location. read more

First of all, I would like to comment on the service. I'm not sure this is the same restaurant that some of the critics are talking about. We walked in, the hostess pointed us to the dining room where we could choose our table, the menus were provided, the orders were taken and the food came out in excellent time. The waitress was very nice. We ordered a pastrami sandwich, and a platter of pastrami, brisket and tongue. Both come with coleslaw and pickles. And of course I got a Dr. Brown's cream soda. The food was delicious. Yes it is expensive ($26 of the sandwich and $30 for the platter). BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS BEFORE YOU COME HERE. It's called an on-line menu. So if it's too expensive, don't come. Parking is tough. Hint - across Ashford Avenue and behind the Carvel and a vacant building (the former bakery) is a free-for-all lot. No meters, no warning signs, tons of parking. Try that. Or, there is a small municipal lot across Saw Mill River Road. Enjoy! read more

Couple of highlights. Great to see a local business and hope they do GREAT. They did beautiful work on the interior and the presentation upon entry to store is great. The food was good. It was presented well, and the wait staff while very inexperienced tried really hard. Some significant challenges. The parking is beyond awful. Even if you get a spot it's like a job to get in and out. The food pricing is beyond outrageously high. Clearly Westchester has a good population of folks who can afford a sandwich, kinish and soda for $50 but will they really spend that? Maybe consider a few specials so you can cater to more folks. Who will go to a lunch for $50+ dollars on a consistent basis. I mean I get prices are hyper inflated everywhere but this almost seemed absurd outside of NYC. So good food and some kinks to work through, I just wonder if they can garner enough customers at their price point and parking logistics. Looking at some of the other reviews a little more humble outreach might work. Riverdale is epic because of history and time. This new location has none of that gravitas yet. Delicious fresh kosher food. Even the rugalech are good. Turkey is moist not dry. Pastrami old school kosher comfort food. Corned beef a bit greasy but the potato latkes are great. Thick and huge. Also the breads and the sides are good Fresh and flavorful. Lotsa great Russian dressing mustard pickles with sandwiches. Takeout. Bring money! Lots of it. read more

She finally finished, no greeting, no sorry I kept you waiting, never made eye contact and was HORRIBLE the entire time. $60 for a too-small pastrami sandwich, soup and Cole slaw AND bad service by someone unfriendly, unwelcoming, unprofessional and obviously unhappy in her job made this my last visit to Liebman's at this location. Poorly managed establishment. Upon placing a small Rosh Hashanah order in person one week before the holiday, (1lb brisket, small gravy, quart chicken soup and 2 matzo balls) to be picked up at 12 noon this past Wednesday. Left my credit card info. Arrived on time. Order wasn't prepared. Received at 12:25. No apology for the delay. Given a register receipt for $76 dollars. Got home and saw there was an $81 dollar charge. Drove back to restaurant. Was told that's because there is a surcharge to use a credit card. No mention at time of order, when I picked up the order or indicated on the register receipt. The "manager" pulled my order and a different register receipt was attached for $78. She could not explain why. When I informed the "manager" to reverse the charge and I would pay cash, she indicated only the owner could do that and he wasn't around. She told me to leave my name and telephone number and he would call me on Saturday. It's now Monday and no call. Will not be giving this place my business in the future. Chicken soup was ok. As a Riverdale resident for 12+ years we've been eating at Leibmans for years and tried their new Ardsley location with friends from westchester today. Love the decor, the memorabilia and service. Food was essentially the same as Bronx location but, I found (my usual) pastrami sandwich to be extremely fatty, so a little disappointing. I know pastrami can be fatty but this was a bit much. Otherwise, a pleasant experience as good kosher delis are few and far between these days. read more
