Decent, wildly overpriced, lacked any real character or distinctive flavor. Matzo ball soup: first couple of bites of the Matzo ball had a strong garlic flavor. Kind of unexpected, and not complex flavor at all. The soup didn't have any discernible flavor. Not bad, but certainly not great. Half sour pickles: again, kinda underflavored. Cut in slices rather than served whole (i think i got one whole pickle--pretty stingy). Cole slaw: this was actually quite good and the highlight of the meal. Egg cream: not enough seltzer while still being kinda meh flavorwise. Pastrami sandwich: the meat was somewhat dry and lacked that peppery pastrami flavor you expect from, what?, pastrami. The bread wasn't very fresh so I ended up not eating much of the bread. Small sandwich for $28 or $29. Potato knish: perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside. Again, though, not much flavor or seasoning. Overall, my meal cost $55 before tip and I'd get a better meal of all the same at any diner in New Jersey. This one is not a fun one to write. So my father was having lunch at Liebman's Yonkers on February 11th, after my recommendation to go there based on my great experiences with the original location in the Bronx. He and his friend both enjoyed the food (although he made sure to mention that it wasn't nearly as good as Katz's, which I completely agree with). He thought that the restaurant itself was clean and nice enough. But then the fun part happened. He tried to tip 20% on his lunch bill, asking the waiter to round to the total from the $50 check to $60 total The waiter decided that meant adding a $60 TIP to the order and running the credit card at $110 for their lunch. Simple mistake, maybe. We apparently will never know, because Liebman's has never called back after two different attempts to speak with management to rectify the situation. We were told that there was no manager there twice, but assured that we would receive a call back shortly. Nothing, apparently. Is Liebman's an establishment that targets the elderly and figures that they can get away with it because sometimes people don't look at what they're signing. Who knows? Not me, because no-one from Liebman's decided that it was important to return multiple calls to figure that out. So, IF you go to this place, please check your bill and then check it again, because once you leave the restaurant, they seem to have no desire to explain why they charged you a 120% tip (or even attempt to keep you as a customer) Bonus fact: I waited three weeks to post this to give them every chance to do the right thing and have a manager reply. read more

So happy to have this restaurant not too far from me. You can order at the counter for takeout but they also have a small dine in area on the other side of the restaurant. My sister - we decided to dine in instead of doing takeout. ordered sandwiches (pastrami, brisket) and fries to share. They come with pickles and Cole slaw and everything was absolutely delicious. The pastrami was lean, the brisket was delightful - I had it on a roll which was so soft, the steak fries were also good. You get a good amount of meat on the sandwiches and of course they have the deli mustard as well. I even took home an order of chopped chicken liver which was good as well. This was mid afternoon. so there were a few empty tables The setup is unusual, the deli counter & service are in the main entrance space while the dinning area is in completely separate space. They are connected in the back with a passage, it's basically U shaped. Both spaces are bright, clean & inviting. The dinning area has some interesting artwork. After a long review of the menu we ordered pastrami/roast beef combo sandwich and pastrami/tongue combo sandwich. After a few minutes out came the slaw & pickles followed shortly with the sandwiches - huge. Oh we woofed them down, actually I only finished half of mine. The long-standing Liebman's in The BX has expanded to none other than Westchester. I could've gone to a kosher deli about 2 mins. away from me- but when my friend Cam E. visited Liebman's on Ashford Ave in Addyman Sq. in Ardsley, I wanted in too. Whatever this place was before Liebman's, the folks here must've given this space a significant facelift. You could just tell. In true city-'industrial' style though, Liebman's is hooked up with white subway tiles and a stainless steel ceiling pipe with a W.235th St sign reminding you of their iconic Bronx spot. This makes for a nice ménage à trois. To soften the industrial feel, mini white hexagon floor tiles have been used. Right off the bat, I ordered a Smoked Salmon sandwich ($19) with a sliver of cream cheese the way I always take it, a pastrami sandwich($22) for hubs since he was working from home, a chocolate egg cream($7) (would've loved a vanilla egg cr. instead), a pack of black and white cookies($7) and 2 chocolate rugelach pieces ($2.24) sold by the pound. The smoked salmon is nice and the bagel is something these folks aren't gonna play around with: it was pillowy- with a wonderful bite and was toasted for me- without me even letting them know I wanted it that way. Thank you. Hubs noticed at home that his pastrami sandwich had an open-face feel to it and he wondered if this is how they do. Such an incredible Pastrami Reuben sandwich - oozing with flavor and dressing and freshness. Pickles great. Their rye bread is so fluffy and not too rye-tasting. The matzoh ball soup was the only three-star thing we had, as the matzoh balls didn't have a ton of flavor. I am so glad Liebman's is open here. I loved my food, the service was friendly and fast, and the restaurant section is great, a wonderful reminder of simpler times. Matzo ball soup was delicious, not very salty, which is a problem at a lot of places. Enough sodium to kill a pony. Not here. Flavorful but not loaded with salt. I loved my corned beef and pastrami combo. Fries were thick and crispy. Pickles fresh. Folks, it's kosher. The food is going to cost more because of that. This is not your corner deli. This is a kosher deli and your meat is going to be of a higher quality. Think Pastrami Queen or 2nd Ave Deli. Support these delis, not many of them left. I'm happy Liebman's has expanded. The best Jewish deli in the area. The hot dogs, pastrami, and macaroni salad are all highlights for me. It can get a bit pricey.

Ordered via phone, which we had to do because the online ordering menu (both on their own website and on common food delivery service websites/apps) does not include the children's menu (which we've mentioned each of the several times we've been there, including at least once to someone who said they were the owner/manager). When we got there to pick the food up (no parking available), they had made only 2 of the 3 things we ordered. They claimed repeatedly we only ordered those 2 things instead of admitting they made a mistake and didn't write the third one down. We know what we ordered, and they also got the name on our order wrong, indicating they don't carefully listen to customers and what's being ordered, nor record it accurately. When we mentioned about the online menu not including the children's menu, they claimed to not be aware of it, which indicates they neither look at their own website nor listen to the people who repeatedly tell them about this issue (and it's highly unlikely we're the only people with children who have had this issue and mentioned it). That they don't listen is also evidenced by the fact that, after we ordered specifically for pickup, they called back (and not even to the phone number we told them to call) to ask our address for delivery. In addition, we ordered the beef bacon burger cooked rare, and it was actually cooked medium to medium well; this is an issue we've had several times before. We went there because we liked having a kosher deli in the area, but after this experience we won't be going again. read more

When rating a New York deli, there is really only one thing that matters - the pastrami! Pastrami is an art. Each one has its own unique spice blend which makes eating pastrami exciting each time. I have tried pastrami all over the country. New York/New Jersey is still the best geographic region for pastrami. Liebman's is in the top 5 of pastramis in both the region and the country. It is really hard to compare the greats, but there are only a few greats. This is one of the greats. I asked for my pastrami with medium fat. The waitress was quick and smart. I told her that she should take the Cole slaw before I got near it so that it could be served to someone who would eat it. She asked which pickles I preferred and brought a generous helping of those. I hesitated when I saw the $25 price but rationalized that I had worked very, very hard that morning and this would be my gift to myself. Unfortunately it was a bad choice. I sat at a countertop situated across from where they cut and prep your order. Sandwich arrived in less than 5 minutes of ordering. We were there opening day; ironically we stopped in for a late dinner after driving back from the Bronx where were visiting my folks (and where we often go to the original Liebman's!) Service was friendly but forgetful but the place has just opened so they will get better. Matzoh ball soup and kasha varniskes were tasty but not hot- just warm. Pastrami and corned beef were excellent. The gefilte fish was awful- I took one bite and put down my fork; the taste appearance and texture were off (and we are familiar with the excellent version of this dish at the Bronx location- there were ZERO similarities) Staff didn't ask if there was a problem and we didn't want to complain. Excellent Eastern European Jewish food in Ardsley, NY! We've been going to the branch in the Bronx for many years now, so we were thrilled to hear they were opening up a branch in nearby Ardsley. We've been to this location twice now and have been satisfied both times. Both times, we have come with big parties, and so we were able to sample quite a lot of the menu. We had the same waitress both times, and we found her to be very professional and reliable. The ambiance is plain, with funny posters on the walls. The chairs are a little uncomfortable. The branch in the Bronx has long, comfy booths. The last time I came here, I had the burger, which wasn't quite as good as I remember the burgers at the Bronx location. This time, I had the chicken liver sandwich, which was delicious. I also had the knishes, both the square and the round, and I loved them both. read more
