I visited the store a few days ago looking for some Dodger gear. I had an employee named Kiki help me out. She was super helpful and patient with my questions. I figured they may be limited after the winning of the World Series, but I was able to find what I was looking for! I was looking for some fitted hats for my bf and some dad hats and she showed me what they had in store. The fitted hats are very good quality!! I had to order some dad hats online, they looked good on the picture and Googled their material. I've been here a couple of times, and I've never had a bad experience. This last time, I came in 15 minutes before closing, and I really hate doing that to employees because I know how that feels. Anyway, I didn't realize they closed early on Sundays, but the employees were very nice about it. A lot of their hats are a little on the high side, but there's a way to get a pretty good discount. I love shopping at Lids because you never know what hats they'll have for sale. This location is very big compared to other Lid locations. While I do appreciate not being followed around or harassed, I feel like the employee could have been a bit more attentive. He was busy embroidering a cap, and ignored me as I stood in front of him waiting to check out. My husband pointed out that wasn't the register lol, so we went and stood at the register. And waited. We had to go back to the embroidery station to get his attention. The store is tiny and it was empty, so he should have been a bit more attentive. I came to this store on my way home from work and I was really surprised the selection of hats and so many different jerseys. I was so impressed with the management the gentleman was very polite and helpful I was looking for the new dodgers World Series hat and jersey and he said that at the moment they didn't have it. I still got the dodgers hat with my name on it. I asked the gentleman for his name and he mentioned that his name was memo and that he was the manager of the store. I was very impressed with his service and how he was very helpful with my business. I will be stopping by more often and buy some more hats. read more

Garbage. Complete garbage. 11 year old son bought an Angels hat from here with embroidery and spent his hard earned money which cost him $80. Yes $80 for a hat. Since he is a die hard baseball and Angels fan, we wanted him to get this. In under 30 days the hat had blue bleeding on the white and red pin stripe hat. He wore it once in the rain as it has been raining significantly here in SOCAL. Rain should not cause blue bleeding like this and completely ruin the hat. My wife called and went to the store figuring they would at a minimum exchange the defective hat. No. They will do nothing. In fact, the lame worker went as far to say that these hats should not be worn in the rain. Huh? You can't wear a hat when it it raining? Needless to say, my son is shattered. These folks will never get a penny of my money and I will be emailing the manufacturer of the hat 59fifty to see if they will stand behind their product. Shame on you. This is an 11 year old and within 30 days. DEFECTIVE, just like this company. read more

I just walked out of Lids fairly dissatisfied. After seeing a hat online for $39.99, but after tax and shipping it came to $50.00. I thought I would go to Lids see if they carried it. I walk in and get an instant hello from one of the 2 employees behind the counter but I'll never now which one because they never made eye contact with me. I find the exact hat that I saw online but it was on the vey top shelf I can see the tag under the bill of the cap and it's $2 less then online. I think to myself, I'm getting a new hat. Only problem is it's on the very top rack and I got one employee on the computer and one on his phone. I stand there, I even look at some of the other hats there. After about 5 minutes I realize why malls in America are dying and brick and mortar stores are going the way of the dodo bird. I am getting a new hat but I'll have to wait 24 hrs for Amazon to deliver it to me. read more

Visited this location to have a hat custom embroidered. The gentleman who assisted me the first time was very informative. He let me know that my custom design would have to be send to their design dept and it was a three day turn around. Since I wanted the hat for the next day we agreed on making a rough draft, which came out very good for rough draft. A few days later the design has come back and I visited the store again. Another gentleman helped me this time, he was also very attentive and created a masterpiece. I was very happy with the service I got both times. I did happen to visit other locations before going to the MV location. At the two other stores the associates weren't very attentive and they didn't have the hat I needed in stock. The way they keep putting more and more mechandise in my house has to say something. They have a great and often updated selection of hats to browse, as well as frequent sales on either regularly priced items or extra percent off deals. If you like hats so much you buy hats on sight, stay away from this store. It's a rare occasion that my significant other walks away from here without a couple of hats. read more

I've been here two times in a row and have been dumbfounded both times by the employees. Both times that I have stopped by, the employees not only completely ignore you, but one guy in particular was continuously cursing loudly and yelling f-bombs-all while knowing there are multiple customers in the store, including kids. The free Kobe embroidery was very generous of the whole Lids organization to do so when I was walking up to the Mission Viejo store, I initially thought the staff would be unpleasant and very busy because of it. However, the African American gentleman who was alone at the store at the time was extremely friendly and you could tell he was hard working and loved his job. He was quite busy but let me know that he would be done in 15 mins which he didn't really have to promise. I mean, for a free gesture, you shouldn't expect anything...yet the service surpassed my expectations. Shame I didn't get his name but thanks alot, man. Oh and the FREE embroidery turned out amazing! Best customer service I have ever received! Jesse the manager was great. I had reserved a hat the day before and wanted to get it embroidered where he happily obliged. He walked me through the process, helping me select a font and size and finished it up in only 10 minutes. Sadly, when I went to my car I realized there was a spelling error (which was my fault). I called the store explaining the situation and he said to come back in. I came back in and he took the time to remove the embroidery for me and redo it for me. While Irvine Spectrum has a larger selection, I will exclusively be shopping at this location due to the fantastic customer service I had. read more

Not sure if I just wasn't having the best luck with this location in Mission Viejo, but I did not have a good experience. I stopped by here because Lids was offering free Kobe tribute embroidery on any hats and I understand it's free but they messed up several times. I am appreciative of them doing this, but I'll explain more.. I dropped off my brand new Laker fitted that I purchased as a gift to have it done. There was a selection of embroidery designs that you can choose along with Laker colors for the numbers - they didn't get anything right. I completely understand that they were probably swamped with so many orders, but if they were going to do this, they should have at least done it right according to what people requested. It wasn't like I was requesting a special design or color; I specifically chose from what they had to offer. I went with the white wings design and yellow "24". When I stopped by on Sunday to pick it up, the associate took at least 20-25 minutes to find my hat. He was the only one working the shift, but it was really slow during that time. He ended up coming out with a bag and showed me two hats, in which none of them were mine. I only had one embroidered. Imagine I was an a$$ and swooped those hats. But anyway, I said they weren't mine and so he proceeded to call a fellow associate on the phone to see where they had placed my order. It seems like it was lost for a second but I'm sure it was just chaotic and they had orders all over the place especially in the back. I noticed they had orders in bags hanging out in the front as well. They were definitely not organized and it showed. I'm not a hard customer to please, but I can only imagine if I was a different person and how they would react at the possibility of them losing a hat or giving it to the wrong person. I kept thinking to myself, what if the hat was sentimental to me or it had high value, I would have been livid! Finally he found my hat and come to find out, the wings were mostly black (NOT white) and the "24" was in white (NOT yellow) like I had ordered. I have the receipt to prove it. I would not come here again or suggest anyone else come here for embroidery. If you need a spot to come pick up a hat, then why not but overall their customer service does not deserve a positive review from me. Overall I am happy with the hat, it's close enough to what I wanted but not exactly what I wanted if that makes sense. Luckily I'm an easy customer to please and I didn't go ham on anyone for messing it up. I also thought that maybe they ran out of colored thread and to be honest I would have understood, but they should definitely have called me first. TIP: Mission Viejo mall closes at 8pm on a Saturday. What mall does that? read more

This was my third terrible experience in this store, which means I won't be back. Just this past weekend, there were signs indicating a buy one, get one 50% off hats. In small letters at the bottom of the sign, it indicated that some exclusions apply so ask an associate for details. I asked the manager if the Angels hats that my three sons were trying on were on sale. He told me that they were. We then proceeded to find their sizes (a challenge since there wasn't a huge selection on the fitted hats) and finally chose four hats so that we could get the buy one, get one 50% off deal twice. I asked if that was allowed as well and again, he said yes. When we went to pay for the hats, the sale did not come up and they told me my total was $200 for the four hats. I asked about the sale, and the worker and manager said, "Oh, those don't apply to these hats. They have a patch on the side." We were incredibly frustrated to have spent more than a half hour trying on hats and finally finding sizes in the selections we wanted to discover that none we on sale. There was a lack of professionalism and understanding in the employees, especially ones who told us about the sale and then didn't honor it.
