Very disappointed. Took both hats as a lost. The first hat I designed was for Father's Day. When I went to pick it up they forgot to make it 3d so they refunded me just for the stitching and gave me a free stitch for next time. So this week I decided to cash in on that and get a hat. I purchased a hat with them and did the 3d stitch. After it was done I was told it wasn't going to look right because they can't put heat on the hat because it was water resistant. If that was the case I would not have gotten that hat. I would have picked another hat. She just gave me the hat and said sorry. I wasn't in the mode to argue. But I do have the time to let others know so they don't experience the same issue. In my opinion the first hat was ok it just wasn't what I paid for but they probably shouldn't even offer the 3d option if it's going to look like mines. There is still pieces of foam in between the letters and sticking out of them. Complete fail. Sorry. I feel like I should have been offered another hat or not been charged. FYI - the brown parts (burn parts) were done by me. I did try to clean up the hat a little bit. There were long string pieces hanging from the letters as well. read more

I always try to buy my Hats at Lids. They have the BEST and Largest Selection of any type of hat you are looking for. The Prices are always fair and sometimes they always have their Hat Club Pricing. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I came in at opening and was just browsing. I needed a new hat for summer. I couldn't land on one until Tony Recommend a Padre Hat that I couldn't live without. I couldn't have seen this series if Tony didn't show it to me. I am so happy he did because I love it. It was a little bit out of my price range. Tony was able t get me set up with a Free membership and save me 20 percent !! I was able to comfortably purchase the exact hat I wanted. Tony provided exceptional service. He was patient and answered the numerous questions I had about online purchasing and in store purchasing. I am so glad I stopped in and will be back to get more Hats soon. Tony also had some cool Shrek Crocs. I was a little jealous. read more

Came here to get a customized business hat as a gift for my boyfriend. The girl working said she was not good at embroidering logos and said the person good at logos will be there tomorrow. I asked her if I can place the order for the hat with her, she was very nice and patient and took my order and said they would call me the next day to pick up the hat. Fast forward two days I am calling them because they never called me and they tell me they don't know what is going on with my order and that they would call me back when they found out. I used to be a regular customer of this location until recently. I walked in to employees I didn't recognize I looked around and this annoying employee kept trying to sell me things. The selection as of recent has been awful I'm particularly talking about fitted hats. I don't understand why this lids sell so few padres hats it's very disappointing also there are very limited options for sizing. I walked in and wanted to do a custom embroidery on a red padres hat. However they don't have my size is this basic color hat! So I landed on black and asked how much it would be to get my embroidery for the hat and embroidery it was 85 dollars. Like what are we talking about. I used to come in not long ago and be known by name the staff used to be friendly and I could get my hats with custom embroidery for less than 50 dollars. Now the staff especially this lady are incredibly pushy and try to upsell you on everything. It's like an annoying used car salesman. And I tried to express my shock on the price and she said that they fired all the old employees. Yeah great idea fire the employees that are friendly and actually sell the hats. The worst part is that after I said that price was to ridiculous she still tried to sell me just the hat and tried to push me to buy a membership. Honestly ridiculous prices this location has should be criminal. My advice by online instead. Let this location close and let the employees rot. I'm looking at you Latina employees with glasses! Terrible customer service. store says it opens at 11am cashier still counting out the register at 11:05 waited 5 mins still not open at 11:10am cashier did not acknowledge us even after knocking on the window. Finally she said 5 more minutes. We had already waited long enough after arriving early, we left to another hat store in the mall that was much more helpful!!! Will not return. to Lids. frustrated that you cannot even file a complaint online because the online and physical stores are completely separate!! annoyed. read more

I buy a Lids card, hoping to save some money. The guy working the counter rattles his fingers across his keyboard, enters my name, address, email - the usual suspects. I'm charged and I'm out of there. Days later, I attempt to register my card online and I'm declined. I call customer support and "Ryan" tells me that the dude at the store didn't enter my address. What was he typing? Anyway, the customer service rep fixes the issue and everything is cleared. The next day I attempt to buy something online, but my card cant be properly registered - again. I chat with a live assistant agent and she tells me that the store never activated my card. Get real. I work retail, too, guys and it's not that hard to follow standard procedure. Just wanted to share my experience with the Lids store in El Cajon. I wanted to get some hats embroidered with my band name on them. I admit i was a bit rushed to place my order and didn't ask all the questions I should have prior to placing my order. When I picked up my hats I realized I should have asked about the difference of raised versus flat embroidery and how certain fonts can look funky when they are both. I want to thank Alex & Mike for understanding my situation and going above and beyond to make the situation right. They took the time to educate me and answered all my questions. They were able to take my situation from not being satisfied to being extremely satisfied. These guys rock. If you need embroidery done go see them. They will make sure you leave happy. Don't use your debit/credit cards here!!! I purchased two hats during the BOGO sale and when I got home, I looked at my bank account and saw that I was charged twice for one transaction. When I went back to the store, the manager told me that it was just a "deposit" being held to insure that the funds are on my account. SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?! That was pretty insulting to hear, especially when I knew that there were more than sufficient amounts on that account. He told me that it would take 3-5 business days to have it dropped from my account. It is now the fifth day and both charges are still on my account, as charges, and not "pending". I called the customer service line today and the associate stated that I'll have to wait until NEXT MONDAY to call back if the "deposit" has not been credited back. What type of retailer does this?!?! I really didn't want to spend $115 for 2 hats!!! Needless to say, I plan on returning my purchase for a full refund in hopes that it gets credited back to my account, along with their "deposit"!!! BEWARE!!! read more

First of all, I'd like to say I love Lids! For years I've bought all of my hats at Lids and with an 11 year-old Little Leaguer, that's a lot of hats! I was advised by Lids.com customer service that the store would honor their corporate return policy, however when I went to the store and provided them with my online order number, they told me that they would not honor the return policy even though the hat was in new, unused condition. I won't go back to this store. read more

Pay close attention to the price as items are being rung up. I came in today to get a hat that was priced 21.99 and another hat that was priced 20.00. After my total was announced I thought it might have been a few dollars higher but thought to myself I'll check the receipt once it's complete. Didn't want to be "that person" holding up the line four days before Christmas. So I looked at my receipt and saw that I was charged 24.99 for my hat that said 21.99. I told someone who was working on the sales floor and he checked the other hats and the hat said 21.99. So the girl told him to check the computer because sometimes prices change and they forget to change the tag. I told her that's not my fault you guys forget, you have to honor what's on the price tag. She said she was not authorized to refund me the difference. Really you can't refund me 4 dollars?! So I said fine I'm returning both hats refund me my total amount, 40 bucks. And she did. Funny she was authorized to return 40 bucks but couldn't return a few dollars. Ridiculous.
