I've been a loyal Lidl customer for over two years, doing all of my grocery shopping at the Montgomery Village location. Sadly, the experience has been getting worse, and today was the final straw. Cast iron sets were clearly advertised at $14.99 on a shelf with multiple price tags. Several customers, including myself, picked them up expecting that price. At checkout, however, the cashier refused to honor it and tried to charge over $40 per set--almost triple the advertised price. She claimed they were "misplaced by another customer," which made no sense given the organized shelf and the fact that multiple shoppers were misled in the exact same way, all lining up at the same cashier one after the other. When I asked for a manager, two employees presented themselves as managers. One walked away when shown the display, and neither offered their names or resolved anything. After I pressed further, the cashier admitted that those individuals were not managers at all--only regular employees. It was only then, after wasting significant time, that she offered to call the real manager. This was not just about one product--it was a clear case of misleading advertising and employee misrepresentation. Both actions are prohibited under: * Federal law: The Federal Trade Commission Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 41-58), which bans deceptive or misleading advertising. * Maryland law: The Maryland Consumer Protection Act (Md. Code Ann., Com. Law § 13-301), which prohibits unfair, abusive, or deceptive trade practices, including false or misleading representations of fact and failure to disclose material information. The refusal to honor the posted price, combined with impersonating management, reflects a serious disregard for customers and for the law. Their fresh bakery is so good, particularly the turnovers, chocolate croissants, and breads. Skip the chocolate donuts, which are barely a step up from Entemann's prepackaged ones. They have a nice big garden center but don't take care of it. Most of the plants were dead, dying, or desiccated. Plants that should not take full sun are baking in the sun. Thousands of dollars worth of dead plants and shrubs were shrink-wrapped on metal racks and set to the side of the building so carelessly. No registers outside even though there's a big sign that says PAY HERE. There is never more than one register open but many employees walking around. Help the cashier out! read more

This is the largest Lidl that I have been in. The selection is pretty pretty extensive. The store is new and I am sure they are getting some of the kinks out but can anyone explain to me that no matter what Lidl you shop at why are they always opening and closing registers? Open a register and leave it open for a couple hours, not the constant, register 1 is opening then 10 minutes later, register 1 is closing. For the love of all things holy leave a register open. The pricing is good, not cheap but less than Giant and Safeway for similar products. The selection is smaller then those two, but the pricing is better. Good store not great. Welcome to MV,Lidls!! Although I patiently waited for a closer Lidls. You need a lot of patience! People are idiots. Like at Costco. Prices are moderate and maybe a tad higher than Aldi. The employee are friendly and they were well staffed. Checking out was a breeze. If you downloaded the app you can save more. The more you spend the more you get in coupons and special deals thru the app. Floral department looks nice, just in time for Valentine's Day. Parking sucks! Whoever designed the Parking lot should get a dummy award. People who park head in first can't back out, no matter if they have the best back up cameras. My best advice, park far and park facing out! The area isn't the best especially at night. Maybe I'll return once the excitement wears out. read more

Although I find shopping here is interesting, I CANNOT stand their checkout procedure! It seems every other time I am there they close the checkout line I am in! Yesterday, it happened again, and I just left my 3 items in the cart and walked out! This NEVER happens in other stores. What weird process does this store have that they CONSTANTLY requires that they shut down and reopen other lines? Here is a thought: how about just switching out personnel instead of closing down the line?! In contrast, Aldi also had a bad checkout process with 1, maybe 2 lines to checkout, and too many customers. THEN, they got self-checkout lines and that is where I was starting to shop more and more just because I did NOT have to wait in line. read more

Writing a review about an experience around Christmas '23, because I enjoy being a problem and reminding people of how sh*tty they are. Just a fun reminder that Amanda - apparently a Manager - was extremely rude to my family and I during Christmas while we were trying to purchase a specific gingerbread house for my toddler. Amanda refused to sell it to us, even though it had a price tag and multiple boxes on their shelves, claiming that they weren't meant to be sold. This still makes zero sense to me, especially considering I have extensive experience working in grocery stores. Amanda could have easily just made up a price, or even just given the product to us and claimed the shrink on their inventory lists, but no. Amanda wanted to be a c*nt, so now it's my mission in life to be a bigger one, and remind her at every possible opportunity that I have taken it upon myself to be the biggest inconvenience possible for her. Welcome to the area Lidl! You're going to need a lot of patience when coming here since the store just opened the other day. The parking lot is wide enough for all the cars but people + grand opening = chaos. The store is decent size and upon entering is the bakery so you can smell the fresh bread and pastries! The aisles were organized and items were easy to spot. Make sure to download the app for coupons. I got a $5 off of $30 during my visit today and the more you buy, the more rewards and coupons you earn. I'll most likely wait to come back when the hype slows down but overall I'm a fan! read more

My go to place on a evening groceries shopping when aldi starts running out of some stuff. Thought prices are comparable especially given some unlocked rewards after you spent certain amount. Love their produce, bakery and all seafood and weekly specials. Despite negative reviews of parking situations, I have yet come across that. Perhaps since I usually go there after 7pm on weeknights or even weekends or morning weekends before 11am? Clean store and friendly customer service and staff all around and very helpful when asked where to locate some items. Love their seasonal stuff as well, I'll always end up with good buys that I end up needing for. Overall it's my go to once or twice a month groceries stop. read more

I have tried and tried to like this Lidl, but they keep disappointing me. The parking lot is large enough overall, but the parking spaces seem crowded together and I find it difficult to pull in and out of the spaces. I have shopped here at least 10 times and each time I've been there, I cannot find everything on my list. This is not due to supply chain issues; they just don't carry many grocery items I purchase regularly. These are not exotic items, either. (Who doesn't carry pizza shells?) It is difficult to find things; I have asked if they have a store directory (listing of items with the corresponding aisle number) but I was curtly told "It's in the app." I don't own a smartphone. Are smartphone owners the only people you want as customers? There is no customer service desk, so I have to walk around the entire store to find someone when I need help locating items. Today they didn't carry about half the items I had on a nine-item shopping list, so I just gave up and left. I don't want to be your customer, Lidl. read more

Today's drama at Lidl in Gaithersburg. Salmon puff pastry - no price. At least fourth week in a row. Why? 100% Apple Juice- price only on area with 3 smaller cartons. Directly below are the 64 Oz. bottles, same brand, no price. I haven't seen a price since it was on sale several weeks before. The Apple juice looks bad because at this point it looks intentional. You see the lower price directly over the higher priced version. If you do nothing to address a repeated problem it speaks for itself. The first manager apologized. I asked how the pricing issues continue on specific items even though they've been reported multiple times. No answer. I told her that looked intentional at this point which is why I finally said something. Went to car and looked at the receipt. The $.13 plastic bag rang up st $.99. On the checkout aisle from right to left were paper bags marked as "plastic bags $.13. Directly to the left were plastic bags which I chose. I explained to the second manager Shannon that I had come here 4 weeks in a row and the same items were unlabeled and this time the apple juice was unlabeled with a smaller size labeled which gave the wrong impression. This bothered Shannon and she told me I was exaggerating how long I had seen this while shopping. That clearly meant that I was lying. She also told me I was being condescending when she had told me a type of bag was where it was supposed to be and I asked her where... because it wasn't there. I've really enjoyed the time I've shopped there because of the product selection and even gave the benefit of the doubt each time I've had problems, which were many. Like having to bring items up to checkout to check missing prices then being overcharged on another item the next visit, more missing prices last week at which point I was told that customers take the price labels. I've had sale prices not ring up. I also got stuck past closing because they had a lengthy technical issue at the register. Yet Shannon felt I was exaggerating. Repeated problems dealt by someone with an attitude. Icing on the cake. It would be nice if they just ran an honest business. I've recommended Lidl to a lot of people. I regret that. In contrast I've been shopping at Aldi's for years and had two issues that were quickly resolved. Shame. read more

Lidl - Missing price... again. But not intentional? - Grocery Near Me - Montgomery Village, Maryland

It's a little further for us than the Glenmont Lidl but it was worth the drive. I see complaints about the parking but on a Tuesday there was plenty of spots available and you could park away from other cars if you wanted to. There is a sanitation station right outside the front door. There is a wide selection of products and many of them are of a quality better than some available at grocery stores like Giant and Safeway. Their whole chickens, turkey kielbasa, and many seafood products are outstanding just to name a few items. And my husband stocks up on their brand of barbecue sauce. The seafood section has a variety of special items like shrimp skewers and seasoned calamari are at eye level so very tempting and easy to find. There is also a nice selection of fish, shrimp, salmon, etc. In an "Italian specialty" section I found some sets of vinegar and oils in handy little holders. I picked up a couple for me and extras for gifts. We were able to find the seafood festival packs in frozen food that my husband just loves. And the four slice cheese cake sampler, I have to limit them for company dessert. Too tempting to have too many around the house! Their flower bouquets are beautiful and the flowers last for weeks. I also liked that the aisles and freezer section had signs listing what items were in those areas. The restrooms were clean and since it is illegal to have cameras in public bathrooms I find it difficult to believe that they would have them and that a manager would tell a customer that they did. The staff at this Lidl was pleasant and helpful. Will make the effort to drive to this store occasionally. read more

I did make it to the grand opening! I've encountered Friendly workers and staff there (forgot my coupon manger gave it to me anyway) they had samples which was fun. Of course the isles were packed, the bakery is awesome and smells delicious. We love the pretzel rolls and French bread. They have so many options and I look forward to trying more. Great selection of cheese, meats and cereals, crackers and chips w/o high fructose corn syrup. Decent amount of organic produce and meats. Only thing is with some produce in bog boxes people dig in w their dirty hands-not really smart during Covid. Just wash your veggies & fruit! Sale prices are excellent the regular prices aren't bad but I'll check Aldi, Giant or Trader Joe's for specific items and prices before I buy. Parking lot spaces are for bicycles and scooters lol. It really is horrible designed especially when the driving and parking skills of the locals are below par. I try for end spots or park really far Bc I'm sure one day I'll be side swiped or backed into. I like the isles where they have home, kitchen and bath products. They also have work out gear and clothes, kids cute pajamas and cool items you didn't know you need! Lol grab em when you see it Bc it won't be there next time. Lastly the lines are long usually over 10-15 minutes which isn't fun. Hire more cashiers PLEASE! Overall it's close to my home so I enjoy stopping by. I have always been a fan of Lidl and shop there regularly. However, today (18 December) at 5pm I had an issue with the most unprofessional manager I have ever encountered. I was purchasing stocking stuffers that rang up at the wrong price. The very professional cashier asked me to show him the sale tag on the shelf. I showed him and he verified that the product, the price and the sale date range were all 100% correct. He went back to the register and made the adjustment. He then had to call the manager for approval. When the manager came all he wanted to do was argue and refused to sell the stocking stuffers that were an exact match to the sale sign. This manager is a terrible representative of Lidl and should be fired. When I left I thanked the cashier for trying to do the right thing ------ he should be the manager. read more

My first thoughts on Lidl (Montgomery Village) I did not make it to the grand opening. I tried 4 different times but the line was just too long and as I am disabled, I could not stand for that period of time as there was no seating. First the parking lot. The spaces are waaaay to small. Whether you are driving a compact car or an SUV, you WILL get door dings. If you are in a pickup, good luck. The aisle drive (I don't know what it is technically called) is much too narrow. I noticed that even cars had to adjust multiple times so they did not hit the car directly across from them and it was very close quarters when cars passed each other going the opposite direction. There were very few disabled spaces but they did have two EV spaces and one car share space. I did not notice whether they had plugins at the EV spaces but it did not look like it. I have only been to one Lidl's before which was very nice and open and was quite impressed by it. I enjoyed the smell of the bakery just as you walked in. The one thing that Lidl is known for is their bread. Most of the bread bins were empty even though there were quite a few hours before it closed. It smelled great though. Items are still in the box cartons as they are in Aldi's and they seem to have quite a variety of items. Good cheese selection. The center aisles have an odd assortment of clothes, household items, tools and garden equipment. The prices are more along the lines of Giant than Aldi and in some cases, Giant's prices are cheaper. Aldi is right across the street and and has much cheaper prices for basic items like dairy and butter. Lidl rocks with the bread. Everyone on the staff that I encountered were very nice. It should be interesting to see how this store shakes out. read more

This location shows promise. The parking lot definitely could be improved. Aside from that the selection was nice, shelves were full and organized. I loved that it was very clean and the bakery section had fresh items and good bread and apple turnovers I really enjoyed. I spent half than I usually do going to other places and came away with much more, especially with inflation going on. The fact that they are able to keep prices so low to moderate for brand name items is a welcomed addition to the area. This is definitely worth checking out at least once to compare to other places if you have the time. I just revisted this location last night and it's still a great place to shop for groceries. They might not have everything you want in every area but they have carefully chosen what sells well in each department to give you a wide variety of both in-house brand items and some name brands sprinkled in. This is still a nice option to have and Aldi's is right across the street. It's typically pretty busy here but the shelves are well stocked and staff helpful when called upon. The aisles are spacious enough for people to come and go without any congestion and the bread is very fresh most of the time. The atmosphere is that of what you would expect from a grocery store similar to Aldi's. read more

We waited so long for this Lidl and, as far as I'm concerned, it wasn't worth the wait. Aldi will be my go-to and for that matter, Giant is second choice. Parking is a nightmare- Beware of small spaces and crazy drivers. For all the preparation of parking lot design, I could've come up with a better design with my eyes closed. I don't need to go to a grocery store for items that are not groceries. I'm sure it's thought of as a convenience but if I need to buy a dress I have a better selection at the mall. I may go back out of curiosity to see if there's been an improvement in selection and prices but that won't be too soon. read more

I can't understand how such a big lot, that had so many medical buildings and parking spaces (back years ago), now feels tiny. The design is not good at all... The parking lot is horrible, even for small sedans. The store itself is good. Similar to Aldis, but a bit more expensive, I think. Opening week specials were decent, and the coupon has been good. The bakery is the best (if you find bread, because every time I have gone they are out of many types of bread). Depending on their specials, I will continue to shop there occasionally. read more

I hate to say it but I prefer Aldi. The prices are a lot cheaper especially for the produce. Furthermore, what ultimately drove me back to Aldi is the produce longevity. I picked up celery here and it only lasted for two weeks whereas the celery I buy at Aldi lasts a whole month. I also was slightly pissed when I picked up a creamer to find out it expires the next day. They need to do a better job of stocking fresh produce and not one day usable products. I will say Lidl does have a nice bakery section and it's nice to walk through the frozen section and encounter more variety in comparison to Aldi. I guess I'll use this store once in a while to pick up things that I may not Ben able to find at aldi. read more

This Lidl has excellent prices and some great products you won't find elsewhere. Also, the freshly baked bread is very good. However, shopping at Lidl always seems to be extremely unpleasant! There's never enough cashiers, so the lines are long and slow-moving. Checking out at this store is an ordeal! Additionally, every employee seems to absolutely miserable! They don't even pretend to be friendly. Also, if you buy anything at this store, please check the expiration date! All stores have expired items on the shelf, but Lidl takes it to the next level! The parking lot is poorly designed, and they don't have enough employees to gather up the carts left behind by the lazy bums who can't be bothered to return their carts. So the lot is strewn with carts all the time. This could be a nice place to shop, but it has many issues. read more

Yesterday I returned meat that was rancid. Package was dated with use by 7/24. Returned to store and bought another package exp 8/04. Opened package and once again had a bad odor so returned the meat. Person doing the return transaction did not seem concerned at all, did not question me, apologize for the inconvenience or even look at me but after completing the return simply walked away and left the cashier with the meat. The cashier then had to put the meat on the floor and continue checking customers out. read more

I normally get bakery croissants and donuts from this store because they are freshly baked. This morning they were no croissant there, I asked the manager who happened to be there, I asked if bakery was open, very rudely said yes and walked away. She did not ask if I needed anything, she went inside the bakery. When she came back out I asked what her name was since she had no name badge, she said Shanon and walked away. Prices were good and selection was ample, but some of the clientele are questionable. As I walked down one isle to get an item, someone stole the three shopping bags I had purchased earlier and brought with me, but left the other items in my cart. It's sad that for as much as some of us pay to live in MoCo, we can't shop safely near our homes. I know they were just reusable bags, but it's the principal. My wife and I visited the Lidl in Montgomery Village. What a tremendous disappointment. The parking lot is horrible it's designed for smart cars and not for SUVs or large vehicles. We purchased so called sourdough bread which is the farthest thing from sourdough that I've ever tasted. Then we tried the jelly donuts which were all dough and only a hint of jelly. If I want to buy a ladder I will go to Home Depot and if my wife needs a dress she'll go to Montgomery Mall. When you leave the parking lot be careful because I almost got run over by a crazy lady leaving the parking lot driving like a nut in this tiny parking lot! My wife waited so long for Lidl's to open and she will not be returning. She will continue shopping at Aldi's a superior store with much better pricing then Lidl's! My suggestion if you do want to go to Lidl's Park across the street and walk the to Lidl's the parking lot is a disaster! read more

I'm glad they've added Lidl to this part of the county. Location is close to a few other lower-price stores such as Aldi, Dollar Tree, etc. I don't know how safe the neighborhood is after dark. Everyone is right that the parking spaces and driveway aisles are tight. This was tense. And I went on a weekday about 1 p.m. It was busy (Wed., when weekly sale) but not out of control. Compared with the Glenmont store, the aisles were somewhat wider (except in produce) and longer; there was more selection at times, the bakery had more to offer; and the store looked better organized. I didn't care for the "mass merchandise" aisles, which were pretty overwhelming, and it's not what I go to a grocery for. Just want to get in and out. Regular prices were often a little higher than Aldi and on a par with Giant. read more

Came to purchase a pool; found what we wanted, however wanted to purchase some sandals for my son and daughter but cashier couldn't ring up the sandals for my son but wouldn't ring up my daughters twice even though they were the same... so we left with one pair. Then, they didn't have a scanner gun to scan the heavy pool box. Additionally, they literally had only two registers open and the lines went back mid store. It was a shit show. Not to mention carts all over the parking lot. Sorry just sorryyyyy smh we won't be returning. read more

Obviously HQ doesn't check up on this store. Many items ring up wrong. The cashier tells me it happens all the time. When the manager comes over, she doesn't introduce herself nor looks at us. She tells us if we want the price adjusted, it'll take awhile because she has to manually change it somewhere in her office in the back. I proceed to tell her that this happened to me twice before and that the price for yet another item hasn't been changed in weeks. She just shrugs it off and says they can't fix it if the customer doesn't tell them. Well, I did tell you every time I see it and your store does nothing about it. Unbelievable! I then tell her that this has never happened at any other Lidl I've been to and that we will stop shopping here. Her reaction to my statement showed us she didn't care. We ended up not purchasing the items in question and just returned them. Definitely taking our business somewhere else. But it really doesn't matter.
