Overall, I can almost always find the water brand I prefer and it's conveniently setup in a semi open layout. There are multiple self checkout lines and if you prefer to interact with the cashiers and other workers, most have been friendly in a genuine way. It can be a little pricey depending on what you're buying. They have the tahini brand I love and organic frozen fruit. You won't find too many organic fresh produce choices or halal or kosher meat. read more

This is regarding the quality of the fresh fruit sold at Weis Markets. Nearly all the nectarines, strawberries, and clementines that I purchase are rotten. This week alone I have thrown away nearly $20 of Weis Quality produce. Next bag or clamshell I purchase that contains rotten fruit is going back to the store and I will demand that they fully refund my money. This is absurd! This is only a review of their curbside pick up. 1) many things ordered were out of stock. 2) I've been waiting 15 minutes and only shelf stable foods were brought out. 3) Sitting another 10-15 minutes for rest of my order. Decent Supermarket, nothing fancy. I'm fairly sure this is one of those stores that has changed names approximately 26 times in the past 10 years. It was probably a Food Lion then a Bloom then a Shoppers then a Kroger then a Safeway and now, it's completed it's beautiful transformation into a Weiss... for the time being. Literally, when I drove up, I was like. Was this what it was called the last time I came here? I don't think so... This grocery store has the brand loyalty of Benedict Arnold. In any event; ya know what this Grocery store is good for? Getting things NOT in bulk. So I come here, before or after costco, when I'm like; I don't need 20 pounds of lemons... just need 5. I'll go to Weiss. Probably don't need a 38 pack of gingerale... I'll go to Weiss. Probably don't need 8000 Q Tips for 20 dollars (which is a great deal technically!)... but... I'll go to Weiss. Also, I think the only thing that Costco doesn't sell ( unless I've missed it, which is virtually impossible) is ice. So I do go across the way for ice sometimes. They have 16 lb bags which is N-ice. ;) 3 stars because in addition to it being fairly... lackluster for a grocery store... they seem to have a lot of holes on the shelf. Weis markets is a very nice little grocery store. I have been going to Giant and Wegman's for the last couple of months. I was recently relocated to Gaithersburg from Germantown, so I needed a new store to go to. Seeing that it is smaller than what I have been going to, it was nice to feel like I didn't have to walk a mile to get from one side of the store to the other. The store has been very clean the times I have gone in to shop. The staff is courteous and eager to help. Prices are tolerable doesn't seem to be priced any higher than any of the other competitors. I'll keep going back for small trips, but I will probably go to the big stores for big shopping trips only for the variety of the products. read more

1st time using delivery service. There was a $5.00 charge from Weis, plus $10.00 from Shippit. There were 5 items they didn't fill or replace, so total order they filled was $72.00. Therefore, almost 20% before typing driver. I called to ask what the $5.00 went to, and they hung up on me. Wow!! If only Giant had more stock, I'd be done with this store. read more

I was rather surprised to see that my prior Food Lion review automatically gave its great review to this rather mediocre Weis Market. It's not the same grocery store. For what I put in my market basket on a regular basis, this place has higher prices. There's nothing to attract my business any longer. So, I see these really fun, happy commercials for Bloom on TV all the time. I wonder to myself why I don't have a Bloom nearby so I can go dance around with the employees to a Partridge Family song. Imagine my excitement when I found that this Bloom was just around the corner from my recent dog sitting gig. I figure that I will check out their pre-made dinner section instead of going to a fast food joint for dinner. After all, if Beth (or was it Pam in that particular commercial) is thrilled with the selection, I should be too right? WRONG. Their pre-made dinners section and deli section in general was really pathetic. Not even close to my Harris Teeter. If I wanted mac and cheese however, this would have been the place for me. They had about 983784 containers of it just waiting to be purchased. Moving on, I wandered around the store to find nice, wide aisles and items clearly marked. Basically all of your typical grocery store fare and nothing to be really excited about. I ended up getting a frozen pizza (yawn) and calling it a day. So much for "Hello Laura, here's a song that we're singin'..." I will give props to the lady who helped me at the self checkout. She was really sweet and as close to jumping around (I'm sure the song was playing in her head) as I was going to get. The verdict: Just another grocery store. Darn! read more

Their aisles are wide, the place is clean, the restroom is clean (and has the most powerful hand dryer I've ever seen), the employees are fruendly and helpful, they're open 24 hours, their seafood dept is excellent, and they have a large selection of merchandise. However, I find it very frustrating to shop there. For starters, there's no store directory, so I find myself searching the hard-to-read signs at the end of aisles. Worse, there never seem to be enough checkout lanes open, so when I shop (about 5:30 PM), lines tend to be long. I shop on the way home from work and want to be able to find what I want quickly and checkout quickly. That doesn't happen at Bloom's, so I usually go to Giant. read more

I have never been to or have heard of a Food Lion before. As far as prices go? Holy schniekies! I can get cereal for on average $2.50-3, potato chips for a $1.50, giant sodas for less than $2! It's kind of amazing and puts my living in New York for way too long into perspective. I love cheap grocery stores that provide a wide variety of foods and produce. They even have a bakery! This bakery looked pretty professional as well because they don't mass produce garbage like your typical Costco. These pastry chefs are hand decorating everything with beautiful and vibrant colored icing. I'm pretty sure you'll see all of these when Steph P. uploads her 5,000 photos. They even had a little stand of straw hats. I was just running through with the person I was staying with to grab a few things for breakfast and mixers but the grocery store left a very good impression on me. read more

This place used to be open a 24 hour grocery store but at some point in the past year, they must've changed it to midnight. Imagine my surprise when I wandered over at 2AM to pick up some extra ingredients for a dinner party I was cooking for the next day and Bloom was...dun dun dun...CLOSED. Even though Bloom has lost its 24 hour grocer status, I still give it three stars. Every time I go, the place is clean and the staff is really helpful. I'm not a big meat expert but they always have what I want and it looks good. I also come here for juices since I can get the same juices for cheaper than other places like Whole Foods, Giant, Safeway, etc. They also have very good sales and promotions for groceries. read more

This grocery store is a mess!!!. Cashiers and supervisors are rude and ignorant. I live across the street, but I only go for emergencies. Yesterday , it was my very first time taking an advantage of a product that was on clearance. The funny thing is that the sign was saying one thing and the cash register was entering something else . When I ASKED kindly and RESPECTFULLY about the difference the cashier did not know and the supervisor rudely said that the price did not match with the sign: Take it or leave it. I processed the payment and I told them that I needed to talk to the manager. The person/supervisor / lead cashier ,an old african-american lady, helping with the issue grabbed my receipt from the cashier and took it to the customer service counter. She was doing like gestures of annoying and rolling her eyes. I did not understand her attitude I was just ASKING RESPECTFULLY a simple question. She reimbursed me the of that item, and continue making disrespectful gestures . I will not go back to this store never again. I love this place! Went tonight, Friday, between 5 & 7 and really noticed how wide the aisles were because although there were a lot of people shopping, I didn't have to wrench my cart to the side when someone passed. Really enjoy the limited selection in the produce department -- I'm not that adventurous and I just don't need cactus leaves or star fruit, especially the wilt-y looking ones I see at other supermarkets! Actually the whole store has small areas for goods, but I found plenty to fill my cart. Many deals, great brands, fun little finds like King Arthur's Self Rising Flour, haven't seen that before! Great prices all around, too! All the shelves were well stocked, especially the sale items. And this place is clean! And it doesn't smell! Didn't use the restrooms but the entry way is grand with live plants flanking a bench inside the spacious alcove. Finally, the staff there is great! Everyone from the Customer Service (who gladly check out small orders) to the fellow cleaning the floors greeted me -- and didn't ask me if I needed something! Yea! I looked like I knew what I was doing! Pleasant check out for my full cart with a few dozen coupons, groceries bagged perfectly, nothing crushed! This store is a bit out of my way but I'll keep going -- it seems as if my fellow shoppers were happy, too, by the casual chattiness and relaxed vibe. read more

Generally a clean organized store. Very good selection of merchandise. My major complaint is that more often than not items on sale ring up at regular price. Example is a item signed on sale 3 for $10 but rings at $4. I had three items today that came up incorrect price. Cashiers get annoyed cause they have to back up the list find the incorrect items then cancel and enter the correct prices. Today took the cashier close to 7 minutes to correct one item. read more

The Latin looking cashier was talking on cell phone while ringing us up. She would not hang up the phone and did not speak to us. When she told us our total she did so by pointing at the screen. This review is specifically for grocery delivery service when items are not received but charged for and rotten food delivered. These two things occurred with the first and only food delivery we received from Weis. Unlike other delivery services where you call to report such shortcomings and are automatically given credit for the items, Weis cannot do that because they are not holding the credit card in their hand or they do not keep the card number of file. I was told I could come to the store to remedy the error. I didn't want to come to the store in the first place, hence the reason for delivery. I won't be using this service again. Guess I have to go sit and wait for someone to come outside the store and give me the items. read more

I was honestly stunned by how clean and organized this super market was. I was ALSO stunned by how much lower the prices were than giant and Safeway. Halfway through I realized that this super market was formally food lion which I had been to back in Arlington, VA and wasn't too impressed so good for them for changing and rebranding themselves. Pretty sure anyone who hears food lion just kind of stays away. Anyways, this super market was organized, it was crowded, which I loved! If I recall correctly the only down side was their produce section wasn't too large and they didn't have much to choose from. I also think they had a coin star which is nice but I'd have to double check that. The employee's were nice but they appeared to have only 2 lanes or maybe only 2 open as I was in line for quite awhile. Although, I haven't committed to making weis my go to market, I'm not opposed to shopping here from time to time. read more

I love grocery stores. I seriously can spend hours in a grocery store, looking at every item, pondering what I could make out of them. I once went to England with a friend, and she made fun of me, because while she was excited to see Big Ben and Parliament, I was most excited to look in the grocery stores. That being said, Bloom is not the most interesting grocery store, but I do like it. One bonus is that they have a nice selection of fruits and vegetables, organic and not, and they have a section for "exotic" fruits. The people who work their are very helpful. More then once I have seen a customer have problems with the self check out (as have I), and the employees are definitely aware of this, and come to the rescue. read more
