Went here with a friend for dinner and had a lovely time! We shared the bruschetta appetizer and both tried pasta for dinner, pesto genovese and short rib ravioli. The food was very good! Our cocktails were well made and came out in a timely manner. Our server was kind and helpful. My water glass remained filled and our table was cleared as we had our meal. I went in being a fan of everything at novel. I left feeling also as fanatic about Libro! I went to dinner with three others and all four of us ordered something different; all four of us loved what we had! I had their burger which was anything but basic. Everything that I tasted was such good quality -- including the delicious French fries. (My sister had some kind of salad with shrimp and she was so so happy with hers.) Only negative note was my coke was super flat and I never got a refill as our waiter wasn't overly attentive. So that aspect of my meal felt like a waste. Overall, it felt so special to eat delicious food inside a magical little bookstore. The restaurant itself was lovely. I'd love to come back and taste what else they have on their menu! read more

I cannot believe that I've never done a review of Libro! I have been going to Libro for years, and it has always been an excellent experience. Tucked away in the bookstore, this restaurant delivers an upscale ambience, casual service. I typically order the salads, but when I've gone with a small group, everyone enjoys their food. You can't go wrong here. In the late spring and early summer, it is so nice to sit outside on their small patio. I also don't remember ever having to wait to be seated (though they do get busy; I think I'm just lucky!) The best part is that I'm able to walk around and check out new books, especially from local authors! I highly recommend Libro. read more

I went on a lunch date with a friend and had the best time! We ate at the cutest little restaurant tucked inside a bookstore. It actually took me a while to realize it was even there, and even longer to finally check it out. But, worth the wait! Surprisingly, the place was packed for a Tuesday afternoon. We managed to snag a table, but it was definitely the place to be. I ordered the pesto sandwich with a side salad, perfect portion size for lunch, and everything was fresh. The brunch at Libro is phenomenal! I have been wanting to go again and made time a few Sundays ago. A friend and I went to partake of the yummy dishes. My friend ordered the seafood omelette and I chose the crab cakes. We shared the dishes. Both of the dishes were very tasty. The seasonings were spot on with great flavor. A side salad accompanied the seafood omelette. On top of my crab cakes were eggs with a delicious sauce. The service was good. Our server was attentive and checked on us frequently. The cafe is decorated very nicely and has a unique charm and coziness. An added bonus: classical guitar concert during brunch. It was fantastic. I believe the guitarist is a parent of a former student of mine. I know I will return to experience another awesome dining experience. We had a fabulous time. read more

I love Libro! It's the perfect place to grab a bite to eat after shopping at Novel. This is the fourth time I've eaten here. I usually get a pasta and their portions are perfect, a half order is plenty of food and is very affordable. This time I got the BLT and added egg to try something new, and it was great as well. We did not have a reservation, but we still were able to be sat immediately. Our server was very kind and attentive. Libro is located within Novel bookstore. I had lunch there on a weekday and there was a line waiting to get seated by the time I left. So go early! I had the chicken salad sandwich served on a croissant. They don't skimp on the amount of chicken salad put on the sandwich! You get a choice of side with all sandwich orders. I had the fresh fruit as a side. Both were very good. The fruit was very fresh. The restaurant is an area separated from the store with outside seating available for a quaint dining experience. This place is super cute. Staff was friendly and service was superrrrrr quick. I never thought I would say this, but maybe a bit too quick. We got the calamari app which was good. Before we could finish, our entrees were served. RIGHT as we finished our entrees, they asked about dessert. We said yes and got the tiramisu. We got a bottle of wine to split before the app, and didn't even finish it by the time we finished dessert (which is saying a lot for us). Overall we had a good experience, but it felt rushed. Food: Calamari: good, can't complain, but nothing to rave about Peppercorn steak and fries: steak was cooked to perfection and fries were delicious. Servers never came back to ask if I wanted any dipping sauce for the fries. Shrimp maque choux: good flavor and shrimp cooked well. Used the extra sauce for the fries from the other plate which was delicious. I have no complaints on the food. Overall it would have gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for the service. If you want to read a good book and eat well, Libro is the place to be. I enjoyed my steak salad when I tell you I ate that salad so fast. You would've thought I've never eaten before. It was flavorful, colorful, and fresh. I ordered my steak medium well as always. I did enjoy my Cajun fries but I wasn't too focused on it because the salad was just that good. The service was excellent, the waiter constantly checked in on my guest and I as we caught up on our lives over a wonder meal. If you are not a big drinker like me, you should try the fruit tea. This one is for the book, cocktail, and food lovers! Libro/Novel has easily become one of my favorite places to go! I've been for brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour! Basically, whatever they have to offer, I've tried it...twice! They have local good for purchase and it's a bookstore and restaurant, what more can you ask for. The service is always top tier, and the food is filling and flavorful. Well, my first time to Libro and I was disappointed. A group of friends went today for brunch. We did have a reservation. Seated and waited on very quickly. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffles were straight out of a bag of waffles from Costco. 100%! I've bought them so immediately recognized them. The chicken was ok, but lacked flavor. A friend ordered the veggie omelet and also said it lacked flavor. We also got hot tea ($4) and coffee ($3). Waiter never came back to our table and we got no refills on our drinks. We asked another waiter for refills, but they didn't come back either. Loved Novel tho! We will go back to shop, but we will find brunch somewhere else. read more

A true hidden gem! My only regret is not finding this place sooner. I've been here twice in one week and both times did not disappoint. The atmosphere is cool with a dash of sophisticated. The staff was friendly and helpful. My waiter Nathan was THE BEST! He was knowledgeable about every dish and drink on the menu. I really appreciate that because I rarely know what I want. So far I've had the bruschetta, ravioli, lupara, and mare dishes. The Lupara is my favorite. It's the best pasta I've had outside of Italy! The housemade Italian sausage is absolutely delicious! The Mare was good but definitely an acquired taste. It's very seafoody which may throw some people off. The sauce is slightly spicy too. The ravioli is yummy, but FULL of butter. Such a cute and "novel" idea. My bookclub was looking for a brunch spot, and we were able to make a reservation (always a plus). I was a bit confused though because I had the name of the restaurant, but didn't know that the restaurant was actually INSIDE the bookstore. But once inside, we all enjoyed our food and mimosas! And our server was awesome, and he volunteered to take our pictures. After brunch, we wandered into the bookstore for some shopping, and we actually chose our next bookclub selection. Great space. I already loved coming to Novel since it's a locally owned bookstore however when I got to experience Libro, I fell in love. I recently came here for a book launch and had cocktails for happy hour. We visited this location a few months back as I chose it for our monthly bookclub location. It was very easy to book. I simply called and was able to provide number of attendees and was added to list. While waiting for the dining area to open I browsed the store and purchased two books. Because they have a patio there are A LOT of flies in the restaurant which makes it annoying during your meal. The service is good. Servers give entree recommendations and are very helpful. Does anyone know if ownership/chefs changed at Libro recently? My family likes to go for a casual dinner and book selection, but this past Friday 2/7, we had a decidedly mediocre meal. My wife and I ordered the burger and it was so bland, with a thick super chewy bun. And the fries, which are usually piping hot and so crisp were neither of those things. We were disappointed. Got takeout pasta from Libro. My favorite is always the carbonara and it was excellent in its takeout version. Also got the mare, which was good but not as good as the carbonara, which is very much a decadent indulgence. The Mare was very filling, even with the lunch size. I would recommend their takeout. They did a great job packing the pasta with no styrofoam and it stayed warm. They are also open now. The tables are spaced out and the staff are wearing masks so it's a safe spot to go for lunch. They had a full bar available even when I was there at lunchtime. read more

Super exciting! First, "Novel" the bookstore opens, and now the restaurant inside the bookstore is up and running. Yay! They have a great adult menu, a cool kiddie menu, and a bar. Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays just puts the icing on the cake. The food is super fresh and delicious, the staff is eager to please, and the orders come out in a timely manner. A bar in a bookstore? Sign me up! Libro is a restaurant inside the independent bookstore Novel in the Laurelwood plaza. It has a full menu and a lovely outdoor patio for dining alfresco. I generally sit at the bar during happy hour (3-6pm) and order an appetizer (the poblano soup is a winner) along with a yummy craft cocktail or two as I browse through books and magazines that I'm thinking of purchasing. We were so excited to eat here for Saturday lunch, but left feeling disappointed. We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer, which was fairly good, not great, but tasty all the same. We split the crab cakes and carbonara. The carbonara was good, it would have been better if it had not been overcooked, which scrambled the egg yolk. I believe it was sitting around, waiting for the crab cakes to finish, got cold, and they reheated it in a microwave. You can NOT do this with carbonara. The crab cakes is where things took a nose dive. It was bland, 98% breading, served on wilted arugula. My boyfriend had been excitedly waiting to try these for a while.
