Food was delicious and very flavorful. Staff was very attentive and kind. I definitely will return again!

My new favorite restaurant. Great food, Attentive, knowledgeable & friendly servers. A wonderful find. I am gluten free & Libretti was very accommodating. read more

Perhaps I ordered the wrong dish or came on a bad day, but after stunning recommendations by my family, I was disappointed. Of course this review is based solely on one dining experience. But.... I ordered the "Shells Alla Tito" entree. It was edible. Acceptable. But, nothing special. I would not recommend it. Nor would I order it again....The bread was warm. But, again, nothing special. I ordered a diet coke. I received something tasting like a diet RC Cola....Only a watered down version. No compelling argument to return to this restaurant.....Unfortunately. read more

Charming and cozy restaurant with cool throwback bar, really solid red sauce Italian food, and happy friendly and polite service. Try the chopped soppresatto salad and the chicken scarpierello. Mmm read more

Usually love this place. But waiter brought out Caesar salad. Our appetizer and the pasta dish all at the same time. Then we waited almost 30 minutes for our entrees. Food wasn't as good as usual. I thought salad and maybe appy as 1st course. Pasta as second. Then entrees third. Not sure when we will be back. Spend about 130 for 2...and you've that happen. No a happy camper read more

This place is your typical no frills old school Italian restaurant. The food was good and service was OK, the general location is really bad and I did not like the fact that patrons were wearing baseball caps in a sit down restaurant. Aside from that the food was good and I enjoyed myself. read more

This place is amazing. If you do not normally find yourself in Orange, it's worth the trip, especially on a Friday or Saturday night when you can take in the amazing singer at Karaoke night after your meal. I've never had a disappointing meal here, big or small group. I took a group of 16 people here for my fathers 70th birthday party... all very picky Italians, and not a single plate had any food left on it. That is saying a lot considering the huge portion size of the food, and the varried meals we all had. Its my favorite place to takes friend who are out from the city for the night, or just a nice dinner for my boyfriend and myself. I'm partial to the Twin Fusilli, but the seafood and steak had never let me down. Prices are amazing... staff always friendly... atmosphere great! LOVE. read more

I have been going to Libretiis for over 10. Years. I've been there with family, friends and for events. It's a fun place since it has karaoke. The singers range from regulars to crazy fun. I always love the seafood, chicken or pasta dishes. Not too expensive and fun. read more

Librettis Restaurant - Italian Near Me - Orange, New Jersey

A refreshing throwback to the days of privately owned restaurants with an enthusiastic constant staff in a world of corporately run chain restaurants with transient help. You first enter into a wonderful atmosphere , a low illuminated bar with appropriate back round music of Frank Sinatra ,Tony bennett etc.The bartenders are pleasant, quick to take your drink order and pour generously. Librettis has been known for Italian style cuisine and its been a hit for 50+ years.I recommend the chicken Libretti, chicken murphy or the owners special chicken Lazzara ,Although everything on the menu is outstanding with large portions and very reasonably priced. After dinner on Friday and Saturday nights go back into the bar/lounge area and prepare to have the most fun you'll every have in a restaurant.Pat is the Emcee in very professionally set karaoke bar.Everyone who wants to gets a chance to get up and sing and some of the regulars are just amazing !! The party goes way past midnight with great music, dancing and the most upbeat crowd of people since the last wedding or affair you have attended . I strongly recommend to make this your next dinning experience but make reservations on the weekends cause this place gets busy ! You WILL be back for more !!! read more

I never review any restaurants and of course during this time I want to support local business as much as possible. But in this case I have to share. We just ordered food to be delivered and it arrived and it is probably the worst meal I have ever had. The linguini and clams were covered in liquid looking like a soup and leaving it tasteless. The raviolis were falling apart and again were covered in liquid looking like a soup and covered in oil. The bruschetta was ok but came with a big piece of in toasted bread. Really disappointed in the quality of food. Would not recommend. read more

Libretti's has been a favorite of mine for 20 years. My last visit there on Sunday, April 9th was a disaster. It's hard to believe so many things can be wrong at a single dinner. My boyfriend and I got there at 4:45. We picked off a dead fly from the table cloth, and received a salad that had a lot of brown lettuce. We pulled the browned lettuce out and put in on another plate. Then I received eggplant parm that was gifted with a hair. I, again, pulled it out and didn't complain. The amount of sauce and cheese was excessive. Perhaps they were covering up old eggplant parm. We always share our meals and we both suffered all night in the bathroom. It was horrible. I called the restaurant 3 times. I spoke with the manager who said she had been out of town and will pass on the message to the owner. Again, I called and she advised me the owner was out sick (maybe he ate the eggplant, too), and he would call me Friday. Ah ha, no phone call! So disrespectful. Perhaps I should scream when a bug and hair appear on my table and plate. I was trying to not embarrass the restaurant. I'm done with this place. I WAS NEVER OFFERED A FREE MEAL! AND I NEVER GOT THAT OWNERS CALL BACK. NEXT TIME I WILL MAKE A FUSS AND LET ALL DINERS BE AWARE OF THE HAIR IN MY EGGPLANT read more

This is a Solid spot. The karaoke stage is set up right next to the bar area. It can get a little packed, so get there early. The crowd in the karaoke/bar is pretty mixed. As long as it doesn't get too crowded, this is nice, intimate, fun spot. The food was great, old school Italian. I had the steak which was cook perfectly. All the service was extremely friendly. There is private parking across from the restaurant. They also have a huge back room area for private parties. This is a nice hidden gem. read more

Went to Librettis for a birthday celebration. While the waitress was very nice, when my main entree the shells with ricotta and mozzerella arrived the entree was cold. As I moved closer to the center it was warmer. This should not have been served this way as the place was empty. Appetizers and desert were good. read more

Solid three stars. Came here for a work lunch and it wasn't too busy. The waitress was friendly and courteous. The bread was warm and fresh. Mussels libretti were flavored well but a little over cooked. House salad was mostly iceberg and nothing to write home about. I didn't want to leap toward the dishes of my fellow diners either. All in all not bad but not great. read more

This is my first time here and the service is absolutely horrible. If I could give no stars, I would! My sister decided to have her birthday dinner here and this has been the worst experience I've ever endured. Not only did we wait for more than 30 minutes after ordering our food, but the shrimp was not fresh. If 3 people ordered different items that included shrimp and they were all wrong, that says a lot. We sent the dishes back and we are STILL waiting for food to come out; it has been 1 hour! Someone expressed that they are vegan and yet, their food was smothered in butter. The waiter came back to check on us after 25/30 minutes after we sent it back. If it weren't for my friend reaching out to ask him an question, he would not have stopped. We were told there is no manager on duty, and had to walk to the bar to speak with someone. Meanwhile, tables near us have received their food and drinks and we're sitting here waiting. Bottom line, this has been the worst experience at this restaurant and is completely unacceptable. I will not return! read more

Libretti's still rocks after all these years. Food is delicous and the bread, from Nicolo's, the perfect accompaniment. Nice bar atmosphere as well. We've become regulars. read more

Let me start by saying that opinions (good or bad) are just that, "opinions". It's just like anything else, some people will like you, some won't and some will just fall to that mid-space of whatever. I have been going to Libretti's for many years off and on and just recently started becoming more of a regular and with good reason, the food, the staff, the everything (even those random folks that you meet) have been great!!! I have not had a bad experience and always encourage friends, colleagues, etc. to come out and enjoy the experience. Danny, Donna, Sue, Joanne, Pat (Party Pat to those who know), Eddie, Amanda, Christina and the list goes all, always do their very best to make sure that everyone walks out happy, full and feeling great. The food is fantastic, the servers are ALWAYS pleasant and this is my "Cheers" because everyone knows my name. Again, this is my opinion because this is what I have always experienced. If you don't see something on the menu, ask for it (the worst they can say is no, we don't have it), if you have bad service (which I find hard to believe), speak on it, if you have GREAT service, take a moment to acknowledge it. One of the main reasons that I dislike social media is because everyone wants to take anyone's words for gospel, try it, see if you like it, if you do, come again and if not, go elsewhere, life is all about choices. Oh and for anyone who wants to go to an Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Mediterranean (or whatever) restaurant in America and only want to be served by people who are of those ethnicities......, contact your travel agent and book a trip, you may have better luck..........., #bigotryliveandwellinamerica I love Libretti's and will continue to do so and I thank you all for making sure that I am always taken care of and for that you have my gratitude and much respect. read more

I was looking for an old school Italian restaurant with authentic cuisine...Libretti's did not disappoint! We started with the cannellini bean bruschetta....out of this world good. My only suggestion is to be sure and order two servings! My date had the Veal Libretti, which he loved. I tasted it and the sauce was delicious....but the real star of the evening was the Chicken Siena...which was nothing short of 'Smack yo Mama' good! A healthy portion of artichoke hearts, the grape tomatoes were cooked perfectly and in no way mushy...chicken (not breaded or fried)...also cooked perfectly was fork tender in a rich yet light and flavorful wine sauce. I highly recommend ordering this, especially if you're a fan of artichokes. They ran out of the homemade brownie dessert, which I overheard the table behind us raving about. But in all honestly, my meal was so delicious, I couldn't possibly have eaten another bite. We'll definitely be back! read more

Been coming here for years. Food is always good. Great atmosphere. tonight I ordered chicken arrabiata light on the garlic over angel hair, no red sauce. It came very heavy on the garlic with angel hair on the side with tomato sauce. I am trying to support local businesses but also care about my own money. It went in the garbage. read more

I regularly go to Libretti's with friends. It's definitely an old-school Italian restaurant in the Valley section of Orange, Nj, with good food and great service. Servers are always willing to answer questions about the food, and it doesn't take long to come out. Always bustling but never a wait for a table. The building has a 1950's feel of people drinking martinis and old-fashioneds, and you can imagine past deals being made in smoky rooms, but trust me, that all adds to the ambiance. Prices are reasonable and food is good. Give it a try. read more

Went there with a friend last week and we were treated so rudely when they found out we had a Groupon, we left...I have been there many times over the past 30 years and have never been so humiliated by their condescending attitude...I will never go there again and will tell all my friends to go to elsewhere...no one deserves to be treated in this manner... perhaps the wait staff needs training on how to have class, manners and respect!!! read more

First time ever .. don't like the dangerous area but I was with a party that wanted to go there . Place is ancient looking .. food was just ok .. antipasto had domestic cheeses and meats ... one person in my party stated the chicken dish didn't taste right and the manager/ owner got a horrible attitude and refused to take it off the check ... bad business.. won't be back read more

Food was delicious service on the other hand was not desirable. We were a larger party not sure if they saw that as an automatic gratuity so no actual service required. She forgot several drinks and brought out the quest of honors birthday cake while the dirty dinner plates were still on the table. We had to ask for silverware to eat the cake with and had to request coffee service and additional dessert service as well my first time at this reatuarant and am thinking it might be my last. read more

Grew up going to Libretti's.......what happened? Flavorless lasagna and chicken piccata!

I have eaten at Libretti's many times over the years. Ownership has changed upon occasion but the food is always great. A landmark restaurant in the Orange valley for over 60 years. I used to go more frequently when I worked in the area, but we returned last week for a family celebration and the food was every bit as good as we remembered it. Great chicken, seafood and pasta dishes. It's clearly worth the trip back to this old neighborhood to dine at Libretti's.. read more

Pricey place($$$- $$$$). Good for a date though very classic feel to it. Quiet and nice ambiance.

Love Libretti's!! Classic old school NJ Italian!! Plus they have been so generous in donating their amazing pasta with chicken to our local gala to raise funds for the community. Thank you, Libretti's!! read more

Libretti's is ridiculously yummy. I went for lunch today. The bread was toasty & warm. The last time I was there, I had the chicken libretti ( lemon chicken) this time I had the shrimp scampi. It was divine. Best scampi I've ever had. Service was ok but could have been better for a slow lunch time frame. Nonetheless, I'll be back soon Libretti's! read more

I had the salmon here (totally forget what kind but I asked for garlic and balsamic and they did something right!!!) and it was soooo delicious! And an awesome sized piece, too! Nice and busy on a Friday night, but we were in the dining area. Waitress seemed annoyed every time someone asked for a drink, or even espresso, which I get.. they're annoying to make.. but smile and nod lol! I felt guilty for ordering it! Anyway, good service and great food. Everyone at our table loved what they had! We will be back!!! read more

Food and service was above average. I really do not understand the negative review dated 4/7/2013. Did we eat in the same restaurant? They willingly made me a dish that was not on the menu. read more

This is a great staple Italian Restaurant a bit off the beaten path, but if you're lost, ask, everyone knows where it is. The neighborhood is a bit dicey, but there is a safe, secured parking lot and it's worth the trip. Food is consistantly good, service always great, and its a great place to people watch from old Italian families, to the locals, to the wanna be Goodfellas. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the chicken Libretti's is a great choice. Worth the trip. Makes for a great night out with family and friends, but there are probably better choices for a date. Saturday night has Karaoke in the bar which sounds cheezy, but is really fun. We're back once a month and it never disappoints read more

Wow I use to come here years ago and I use to say Libretti's was as good if not better then any of my father's Jersey City's Italian Restaurants, Today I was totally disappointed, Bland Bland Bland calamari was like rubber bands I didn't even want them wrapped, my wife's homemade stuffed shells were Bland my son and daughter's dishes were tasteless as well as mine as I left I told my wife that's $100.00 wasted, best thing was the bread and that was most likely made somewhere else, least they did a good job reheating it Other dishes were spaghetti & meatball, spaghetti & sausage and my linguine with clam sauce, sauteed spinach flavorless, even the clams oreganata was weak, so sad this place was once very good. I'm very disappointed read more

The service is not good. It is a shame , I have visited here several times and today was the worst, I am giving it 3 stars because of the food however the service is horrible. I am not one to write a review but when you have to come right out and tell the wait staff they are doing a horrible job it's speaks VOLUMES!! read more

I was invited to this restaurant for a Birthday Dinner Party. When I walked in at 7pm, the bartender on duty did not acknowledge me as she was having a personal conversation. I asked about the reservation but no one could find us. The host did get that corrected and i was seated about 10 minutes later. Other tables that arrived after our party was served before us. Our food finally came out at 9:05. Myself and two other women (one of them pregnant ) ordered a shrimp dish but sent it back due to the shrimp having a sour smell. Our plates were removed at 9:11. Our entire dinner party finished there entire meal without so much as an offer of bread nor water for the three of us with no food. The waiter did not even check on us once. By 10:05 the pregnant woman had to flag our waiter down just to be acknowledged/updated. The service was absolutely poor. And there didn't even so much as apologize. After speaking with a manager and requesting the meal be compensated, unfortunately because the attitudes were so poor i didn't trust the food(which came out at 10:11) so I sat for 3 hours. So ZERO stars for me. read more

Restaurant has a nice old-fashion layout to it. Food was great ordered a lobster ravioli that was just absolutely delicious as well as the warm bread you get that i just had to eat with my ravioli. Waitress was polite and gave great service and made my stay worth while. read more

I wish I could leave a negative star review. This is truly the WORST dinner I've ever encountered from a restaurant and I am by no means a food snob nor a picky eater. I'll eat most anything. The Chicken Piccata tasted something along the lines of a bland boiled lemon and looked like a cut up rubber chicken laying in a sad watery lemon soup. My daughters Penne a la Vodka was just as bad. The sauce was completely unpalatable and the chicken was completely bland and dried out. The side of garlic bread was soggy and covered in mass amounts of large garlic chunks. I like a lot of garlic. But this was awful. The bread that comes with the meal was very dry. Could of choked it down with a ton of butter if we'd had some. The apple pie was a mass of gelatinous cinnamon mush. One of those things you put it in your mouth and instantly spit it back out it's so bad. Sadly enough the cannoli was the only thing that was even remotely edible. Even that was sub par. Since we ordered out, everything went in the trash. What a horrible waste of $80 on food which was supposed to of been my birthday dinner. GO ELSEWHERE !!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! read more

I have been going to libretto forever , grew up there went to high school in the valley but last night I was very disappointed not by my food but our server George . He insulted us by telling us how much to tip and probably not his decision but charged us extra to use a debit card ! Unfortunately last impressions will remain goodbye Librettis read more
