Real Southern Cooking is indeed one of those places that fits the Southern diner stereotype, including the good food at a low price. Not totally Texas, but totally Southern. I got a HUGE container of a greasy, reddish Gumbo with rice on the side. It was NOT good. WAY too greasy nasty flavor, and soft bones in the Gumbo so you're actually eating slow cooked bones. Fucking GROSS. Worst Gumbo ever, in my book. But whenever I asked my Black crew where they wanted lunch from, Richards was always the go-to. Hell, if they didn't like what was for lunch, they got take-out from Richards. This past weekend, when I bought lunch for my them, they all went for Oxtails at Richards. So I bought 3 orders of Oxtail (only available on weekends), with 2 sides, cornbread and a 32 oz Kool-Aid for them. $90!!! Every customer there (black and white) were there for the Oxtails.
