Ox tails w cabbage and red beans.

Quick service, large portions and great tasting southern cooking. Had the ox tails with cabbage and red beans with corn bread. Couldn't eat it all.

Feels like eating at Big Momma's house. Food was seasoned to perfection and brought me back to my childhood when I would go eat at my grandmother's (Big Momma) house.

The people serving are as friendly as they come. The pictures of the food speaks for itself. I recommend highly.

I got the catfish and shrimp plate. Had the sweet potato and collars. The light cornmeal crunchy fish and shrimp was amazing. Collars were solid and simple. Sweet potatoes chunky and soft like it was thanksgiving day. Like the name of the place, Real (good) southern cooking.

Smothered Pork Chop, with Cabbage and corn.

What a great idea; my wife and I each opted for cheeseburgers I had french fries she had onion rings, both the fries and an onion rings are hand battered. my wife and I agreed that these are possibly the best hamburgers we have had in at least a year and a half. I'm not sure where they get their hamburger buns, but they are fantastic. Upon leaving the restaurant, we found out that my wife and the manager have common ties to Brenham in terms of having common friends in the BISD school district. The theme of the restaurant definitely teeters on the Texas A&M mystique; me being a so called Tea Sipper(University of Texas alum) I took it all in stride because I know of the Aggie traditions. Lots of artwork in the restaurant as well as on exterior walls, reflecting the Aggie culture; we will definitely keep this place in mind when we travel back-and-forth from the Port Bolivar Peninsula.

The point is plentiful, delicious, so much to choose from and the customer service is next to none! The restaurant was filled with diverse patrons, the mood was set to great old school music. The only draw back is that they are not closer to my home town. I would be there daily! The price was $25/plate and worth every penny. We had enough to eat a full plate that night at home.

Also, the customer service is phenomenal.! everyone that works here treat you like family and super nice to you. I am so glad I stopped in today. I love how they keep the place super cold in the summer because it gets real hot in Texas. Food: this is some of the best food I've had in a long time. The beef tips remind me of a lot of Burt's , meat bar in Houston, Texas, who shut down right after Covid. The beef tips over white rice is amazing. So tender and so good my God how can you make food this amazing? The macaroni and cheese is phenomenal as well. So were the candy yams. The cornbread is great. The gravy that goes over the beef tips is simply the best. The hamburger steak is full of flavor as well. Once again, this is some of the best soul Food I've had in a long time. Top-notch customer service. Real nice people working here. I will definitely come back here anytime. Easiest five star review of written in a while.
