The best Sirloin Steak in SETX
    Tammy R.

Thanks to a friend for recommending this steak at Spanky's. Our go to has always been Steak Bites with Queso in the past. We recently tried this sirloin and are forever hooked. I highly recommend !

Chicken fried chicken spud, cream gravy, topped with green onions.
    Jenn K.

Chicken friend chicken was perfectly battered and fried. The meat was quite tender and juicy. Spud was so huge, I had leftovers. The fried mushrooms were large, perfectly cooked and moist. Waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. I've never had a bad menu item or experience at Spanky's and highly recommend!

Ohhhh buddy, I will give this place 5 stars all day. Had me a nice big ol' steak and it was amazing. My server Mary was great. She made sure to check up on me and she did it with a smile . I had a nice table hidden away just the way I like it. If I'm ever back in town I will be back

    Shrimp Or Chicken Caesar Salad

Decent food for a reasonable price. They serve you with fresh rolls and cinnamon butter when you sit down. Who doesn't love free bread? I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and it was good. My husband got the flook burger with fries which was MASSIVE. Literally the size of his head. We also had the fried pickles as an appetizer and the serving size was large enough for 3 people to share and then some. Our waitress was really sweet and very attentive as well. Overall, I think this is one of the best places you can stop in Orange as there really aren't too many other options.

The crawfish is excellent. The staff are very friendly. Clean - lots of parking in the back - family friendly! Very very good seafood. Try the honey butter and rolls! You won't be disappointed.

I wanted to give this restaurant a second chance, but unfortunately I left disappointed again…read more On a previous visit, I ordered the shrimp basket. The shrimp had a strong fishy smell and taste that seemed off to me, so I ended up just eating the fries and leaving most of the shrimp. Today, we came back and ordered fried pickles and fried mushrooms as appetizers. The fried pickles were okay, but very tangy and nothing special. The mushrooms were the biggest disappointment. They were extremely watery inside, and every bite caused the breading to separate and fall off. I've had fried mushrooms before and understand they can have some moisture, but these were excessively watery. For my meal, I ordered the chicken fried steak with fries. It arrived without gravy, so I had to request it separately. They brought out a very generous portion, and the gravy itself was decent. Unfortunately, the chicken fried steak had similar issues to the mushrooms--the breading wouldn't stay attached to the meat, and the steak was very chewy. Overall, I'd rate the food around a 2/5. It wasn't inedible, but it wasn't enjoyable enough to make me want to come back. The restaurant itself is clean, attractive, and has a nice atmosphere, which was probably the highlight of the visit. On the drive home, I started feeling pretty nauseated. I'm not saying I got food poisoning, but the meal definitely didn't leave me feeling great. I really wanted to like this place and gave it another try, but after two disappointing experiences, I probably won't be returning.

As always, the restaurant was packed--which is always a great sign that something good is happening in that kitchen! My waitress, Bailey, was sweet, attentive, and very accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. I started with a cup of their famous tomato bisque, and let me just say... I simply cannot come here without ordering it. This heartwarming soup, made with slow-roasted tomatoes, shrimp stock, cream, and Creole seasoning, is rich, comforting, and truly soothing to the soul. It remains my absolute favorite--if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it! For my entrée, I ordered the Avocado Multi-Grain Toast. It's a light and satisfying plate featuring mashed avocado spread over thinly sliced multi-grain bread, served with your choice of sausage or bacon, an egg cooked your way, and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was well-prepared and very tasty. If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. That's just my personal preference and how I enjoy my avocado toast--others may find this version just right as is! The search continues for my perfect avocado toast, but this was a delicious and enjoyable stop along the way. Happy Sunday, and keep sharing those amazing finds on Best Bites!

On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and started with a Buffalo Trace bourbon while looking over the menu. The bartenders here are always attentive and welcoming; in fact, the bartender remembered me from previous visits, which speaks volumes about the level of service they provide. Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse in Beaumont with excellent steaks, a strong bourbon selection, and top-notch service, J Wilson's is hard to beat. Five stars. Always a great experience.

We opted to share the chicken fried steak with mash potatoes & green beans. Portions were plentiful and they were kind enough to split the portions in the kitchen before serving so we each got our own plate full of deliciousness.
