Good food and friendly bartenders, A lot of regulars in the early evening, a livelier crown after 10:00 PM.

My wife had the fried oyster poboy and she thought there wasn't enough oyster. She tasted mine and liked it better. The shrimp had a strong fishy smell and taste that seemed off to me, so I ended up just eating the fries and leaving most of the shrimp. Today, we came back and ordered fried pickles and fried mushrooms as appetizers. The fried pickles were okay, but very tangy and nothing special. The mushrooms were the biggest disappointment. They were extremely watery inside, and every bite caused the breading to separate and fall off. I've had fried mushrooms before and understand they can have some moisture, but these were excessively watery. For my meal, I ordered the chicken fried steak with fries. It arrived without gravy, so I had to request it separately. They brought out a very generous portion, and the gravy itself was decent. Unfortunately, the chicken fried steak had similar issues to the mushrooms--the breading wouldn't stay attached to the meat, and the steak was very chewy. Overall, I'd rate the food around a 2/5. It wasn't inedible, but it wasn't enjoyable enough to make me want to come back. The restaurant itself is clean, attractive, and has a nice atmosphere, which was probably the highlight of the visit. On the drive home, I started feeling pretty nauseated. I'm not saying I got food poisoning, but the meal definitely didn't leave me feeling great. I really wanted to like this place and gave it another try, but after two disappointing experiences, I probably won't be returning.

This place has been here for a while and they just want to serve a good meal with no frills. They'll promptly greet you when you walk in the door. Take a seat and make your pick off the menu. We opted to share the chicken fried steak with mash potatoes & green beans. Portions were plentiful and they were kind enough to split the portions in the kitchen before serving so we each got our own plate full of deliciousness. These are real homemade sides, nothing out of a can! The green beans were soft and flavorful and the mashed taters were fluffy and thick that would stick to the ceiling if you tossed them up! Lol! Try the cracklins! OMG! Fresh made to order! Buy by the lb of specific dollar amount. Overall a delicious food experience. We will definitely be stopping in again when in the area. Don't be put off by the location (it's next to a small casino), you'll be glad you stopped in!

I grabbed a couple of piping hot crawfish pies, not because I like crawfish pie, but because I would love to find one that was as good as it sounds. The search continues. While the pie crust was superb, and price was very reasonable, filling was skimpy. Given that I'm not a huge fan of crawfish, perhaps the hint of filling was better.

A special call out to KELAN C, he definitely gets five stars for going above and beyond. The crispy chicken sandwich was extremely tender and crispy, so pretty much perfect.
