I love this place . Service is excellent and it reminds me of good Louisiana home / soul food cooking .

This food was amazing today. I went back to the office and my Co workers went back and got a plate as well. Great customer service over the phone. I had fried chicken, rice, black eye peas, yams and cabbage. Only negative I want better cornbread mines was hard and wasn't sweet. I will be back soon! This plate was $9. I gave them $10 it's worth it

I generally only get the double cheeseburger basket, but my coworkers say it's the best fried chicken in town.

Hate to write this review. May create more lines here. Best fried chicken hands down. Old school down home hole in the wall place with excellent food and people. 3 pieces with fries and roll less than $5 if you are not picky about your pieces of chicken. Can't beat that at all. We call ahead for lunch and car pool 10 minutes for lunch. It's that good.

We pivoted and stayed in Beaumont right across the street from this intriguing establishment. We had to try it. Pappadeaux did not disappoint. Restaurant is beautiful inside - dark woods and brass. Stunning. Started our meals with garlic bread, a cup of shrimp gumbo and a side salad. The gumbo was superb, could have eaten a pail of it. Very flavorful and loaded with protein. Wifey had blackened Salmon with broccolini. Salmon was cooked perfectly and portion size was generous. The veg serving could have feed 4. I went with the 10 ounce filet topped with crab and a creamy sauce. Dish came with spinach and a baked potato. Spinach portion was huge and potato was the size of a football. Steak came to the table medium just as ordered. Both entries were delicious. Our portions were so large we took leftovers home for lunch the next day. Warning ... go hungry. Order smart. Prepare for a doggy bag. Highly recommend without any reservations, would return in a minute. Well, made next payday. Place knew how to charge.

We arrive after driving east from west of Austin, Texas. Server wasn't quick but arrived in a timely manner. Drinks delivered and food ordered. Oysters Pappadeaux; see the pic of the burnt stems most likely from the spinach. Good dish but flawed by the unfortunate crunch and flavor. Corporate peeps this is more a gripe overall. The change in the garlic bread; not for the good. I get it citing perhaps a more dramatic presentation. Thick slices versus a loaf tucked inside the cloth like the bread offering. Thing is, it gets cold QUICKER. We're only talking about a five to ten minute period but the previous way was smarter. Doesn't pair well with the Fondeaux as much as it used to due to the size. Moving onto the GFs dishes. Her Calamari dish was more oily than the last 10 Pappadeauxs we've visited. She also ordered a house salad with creamy vinaigrette that never made it to the table. This was the server obviously because if it was ordered it would have been delivered. Wasn't on the bill either so a forgotten dish for our visit. Good but not great as you expect from this price point.

As always, the restaurant was packed--which is always a great sign that something good is happening in that kitchen! My waitress, Bailey, was sweet, attentive, and very accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. I started with a cup of their famous tomato bisque, and let me just say... I simply cannot come here without ordering it. This heartwarming soup, made with slow-roasted tomatoes, shrimp stock, cream, and Creole seasoning, is rich, comforting, and truly soothing to the soul. It remains my absolute favorite--if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it! For my entrée, I ordered the Avocado Multi-Grain Toast. It's a light and satisfying plate featuring mashed avocado spread over thinly sliced multi-grain bread, served with your choice of sausage or bacon, an egg cooked your way, and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was well-prepared and very tasty. If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. That's just my personal preference and how I enjoy my avocado toast--others may find this version just right as is! The search continues for my perfect avocado toast, but this was a delicious and enjoyable stop along the way. Happy Sunday, and keep sharing those amazing finds on Best Bites!

On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and started with a Buffalo Trace bourbon while looking over the menu. The bartenders here are always attentive and welcoming; in fact, the bartender remembered me from previous visits, which speaks volumes about the level of service they provide. Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse in Beaumont with excellent steaks, a strong bourbon selection, and top-notch service, J Wilson's is hard to beat. Five stars. Always a great experience.
