Food is always amazing here! We have never had anything we didn't like, everything is awesome. The Gumbo, Ettouffee, fried seafood, the appetizers. The deserts are really good too! The service is amazing and our waitresses have always been very friendly and very helpful with us! We love the ambience here at Vautrot's, everything has a look of yesteryear. Just really nice ambience from when you first walk in. read more

Husband and son liked the fished, shrimp, and onion rings. Boudin balls were also good. Unfortunately I was not a fan of the gumbo. Service was very good and environment was family friendly. read more

Shrimp gumbo is delicious. I buy a gallon and bring it home in Fort Worth. Always great service and food.

The BEST catfish I've EVER had! The service and food were both excellent. It's worth driving out of Beaumont to get to.

Our "go to" for fried catfish in the area! Shrimp are great too and their cakes are so so good!!

If you like fried shrimp, this is the place to go. BEST FRIED SHRIMP EVER!!! And the onion rings and grilled veggies are also delicious. Our service was fantastic, and they were busy. Great atmosphere with some good Cajun music in the background. We shared an entree which was plenty - 12 large shrimp cooked to perfection. Onion rings for a side, also cooked perfectly. And a side salad with the best ranch dressing. Since we shared that we had room for the Mason's Muddy Bayou for dessert. Decadent brownies with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and good pour of chocolate syrup topped with whip cream! So so good! If you are in Beaumont Texas, this place is a must try! read more

We love this place. Everything we've had was so good. I never order gumbo anywhere because I'm always disappointed but their gumbo is great. Homemade goodness. Everyone is always friendly and happy to see you. Feels like sitting at maw maw's and having a meal. read more

Have been eating there for years have tried most of the menu at one time or another, but my three favorites are the shrimp, catfish and chicken fried steak and then there are the homemade deserts cobblers, pies and cakes, dining is casual and very friendly and your drinks are never dry. read more

Vautrot's is one on those places you go to for the food and atmosphere, not because of the exterior. It's destination dining. It needs to be, because there's little population in the area. Located on the highway between Beaumont and Sour Lake, near the turnoff to one of the most flooded subdivisions in the Golden Triangle (Bevil Oaks), you'd go to this area mostly to eat here. The specialty: Cajun seafood. They have other things too, like po'boys, chicken fried steak, even burgers. Then you have the option of finishing it off with a drool-worthy dessert that puts two inches on your waist just by looking at it. The Hunny and I were told about Vautrot's by long-time friends of hers, and we all booked a Friday night to eat here. They reopen at 5, and there was a line of people waiting to get in. I had catfish & onion rings, and the Hunny had the shrimp meal, both are slightly over $15. Well cooked, moist, good taste. Coonies would be able to say if it's authentic cooking for catfish and shrimp, it didn't have the famous SWLA spice, but it sure was good. The dining area is more upscale than the building, so don't let the humble exterior turn you off. It's for eating only, no live band, no dancing. Wait staff is friendly, helpful, and never lets your drinks run out. I like Vautrot's. A lot. Sartin's has been closed for years, so I hope Vautrot's takes its place as THE premier seafood restaurant in Beaumont. If that happens, they're gonna need a bigger building. read more

I had the fried seafood platter. Overall good but fried is not the best judge. It did come with a sampling of gumbo and etoufee. Pretty poor showing on both. The roux was burned in the etoufee, you could taste it. The gumbo was cold and bland. Sorry no crawfish. Stick with the chicken fried steak. read more

The food here is delish! If you're looking for authentic Cajun food, you got to try this place. It's hidden in a an area right off the highway. So busy and packed. Place is a little old and hole in the wall like. Service is great and friendly. Food is always delish. Prices are affordable. We ordered the sampler plate with the special of the day: chicken and dumplings. Omg. It was sooo good. The dude boudin was amazing too. The also had a kids menu and that's always a plus! Can't wait to go back! The crawfish etouffee and gumbo is a must try! They also had dessert too but we were too full to try any. read more

First time eating there food was on point seasoned well nice staff. Definitely going back.

The food is delicious, but the atmosphere is a little cold. We felt like we were not welcome, but they were polite because they had to. A guy at the bar stared at us as if we didn't belong there. Needless to say we will not go back. read more

Vautrot's is Bevil Oaks' beat kept secret! Looking for some Cajun eats, seafood, or sweets?? Mama Vautrot and the whole family can throw it down in the kitchen! I love their Pirogue burger, club sandwich, and onion rings!! My mom loves their burgers as well!! She also enjoys the fried oysters! Our family enjoys the Boudain balls for an appetizer. My teenage son, my husband, and my dad all enjoy the grilled fish on a bed of rice. Ask for extra seasoning in the rice for an added treat. My dad likes the grilled veggies when they're available. My youngest likes the platter because he can never decide what he likes the most!! Great fried shrimp and etoufee and gumbo!! I share with him sometimes and eat all the fried oysters!! They're amazing!! My family and I bought family fried fish during Covid as well the gumbo by the gallon! They also have EXCELLENT tea, sweet or unsweet in a mason jar!! Try a muddy bayou for dessert or one of the daily pies or cakes!! Can't go wrong!! read more

We went into Beaumont today to run some errands and we decided we would do lunch at Vautrot's. We know the seafood and Gumbo at Vautrot's is delicious no matter what you order!! So today we decided to try the Chicken fried Steaks based on reviews we've read about those! When we arrived we were promptly greeted and seated as usual here. Our waitress came and took our drink orders and she was very friendly and outgoing! When she got back with our drinks we ordered a couple of appetizers to start. I ordered some of their Bottle Caps, or fried Jalapeno slices as they had had trouble getting them during our last couple of visits after the Covid fiasco. We also ordered some of the fried Alligator for our 7 year old. Both were very good as suspected!!! We then ordered our Chicken fried Steaks, I ordered the large portion with mashed potatoes and a side salad. My wife ordered the small portion with mashed potatoes and a salad. Our 7 year old had to have his cheeseburger and fries! We always love coming here as the decorations and the ambience inside makes you feel very comfortable to be here and the people are always friendly and helpful. I will say that the reviews were read on the chicken fried steaks were right on point!!! It is probably the best chicken fried steak in the area! They were both cooked to perfection and batter covered the meat perfectly. Some places you go the meat shrinks in the cooking batter so you get a bunch of fried batter and very little steak. That is not the case at Vautrot's!!! This was a very good chicken fried steak and I'm glad we came to try it! We were not disappointed!!! read more

Super good food, good value. Awesome service . Uncle Emerts meal was a great sampler platter.

Went here with all the extended family over the holiday weekend. Due to the size of our party my Aunt made reservations ahead of time. The place is a simple and homey kind of feel to it. We shared a few orders of Boudain Balls $5.95 (5pcs) and Alligator Bites $5.95 (8cps). The Alligator was alright, kind of chewy but their dipping sauce was good. The Boudain "balls" I am pretty sure are actually a cut up link. These were pretty good though especially with their homemade ranch. For my entrée I got Uncle Emrick's Seafood Sampler $21.95. This comes with shrimp gumbo, crawfish e'touffee, fried crawfish, fried catfish, fried shrimp, 1 side and a salad. The e'touffee and the fried shrimp were my favorites. The e'touffee had a great flavor and the fried shrimp were colossal. The gumbo was just okay, not as flavorful as my brother's. I personally do not car for catfish and the fried crawfish was okay but nothing special. For the side I got French fries and they were real good, had that double fry crispiness and addicting quality to them. The salad was simple but good with cubed cucumber, shredded carrots, lettuce and croutons. Used their homemade ranch for the dressing as well. The pricing is great for the quality of food and definitely for the amount. I would gladly go back anytime! read more

The Vautrot family have created an eatery that brought great food, family traditions, and Cajun culture to Southeast Texas. This is the BEST Cajun restaurant within one hundred miles. From the gumbo to the burgers everything is good. We have been coming to eat here since the 1990's and have seen the restaurant evolve and change throughout the years. If you are looking for a good meal, a place that appreciates families gathering together, at a great location, this is the place for you. read more

Awesome food and service. Had their small chicken fried steak w/mashed potatoes. Their onion rings are the best I've ever had. Welcome to the neighborhood! Our move to a town of 1700+ people from a diverse city of over 2 million had us worried we were leaving good meals behind! Worries unjustified! Our group had boudin balls, chicken fried chicken with onion rings, carrot cake (options homemade daily), and chicken/sausage gumbo (med/dark roux). Everyone left satisfied and happy! The prices are more than fair, the service on spot. Looking forward to going back again soon! read more

My wife and I visited a place that had Good food great service nice atmosphere friendly folks what else do you need!

Another restaurant in the middle of no where, Yelp to the rescue. It's family owned and operated and the service was really friendly and welcoming. This place was packed the night I went, but the food came out a timely manner. The decor is very casual, the tables are plastic foldable tables but it's a casual place so that's fine. The portions are very generous but I thought the food mostly leaned on the salty side. The food: Boudain Balls- a pork and meat mixture combined with rice and seasoning then deep fried. I really liked these a lot. The spice mixture was nice and they fried the boudain well, it was not greasy. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ON7OGahnMgL3OcDEXy57Bw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Fried Pickles- the flavor was nice, but a tad on the oily side. They were kinda salty and the pickles were a little too sour for my liking. I thought it was just so so. And the portion was ginormous! http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1xUCwp4SmXeCBE6zftXA6w&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Uncles Emerick's Seafood Sampler- The shrimp gumbo had a lot of depth of flavor but was really salty and I wasn't a fan of the shrimp they used. The étouffée was the better of the two soups, the flavor was more appealing. The fried catfish had nice flavor but was really salty. The fried shrimp were a good size shrimp and had nice texture but they were greasy. The fried oysters had really good flavor but was greasy as well. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rV0GzQ0poWVGEiWf9g_Izw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA read more

First time to Vautrot's. Excellent choice. I arrived for late lunch with an old friend. We lost track of time and realized we were the only ones left for the 2pm closing time (they reopen for dinner). The staff was so polite with our loitering. Our apologies! We tried the Cajun: A combo of any 2 seafoods. The fried catfish and fried shrimp were excellent. Same for the okra, mashed potatoes, seasoned fries. The side salad was very generous. Everything was So tasty, I ordered chicken fried chicken and Cole slaw to take home to hubby. Plus a slice of chocolate cake and strawberry cake. Very moist! Kudos to Patrick, our server, for taking such good care of us and so polite. Ditto for the ladies who helped me with my dessert selections. I live in Houston but I'm coming back for Chicken and Dumplings next week. read more

On March 6, 2014 I had their crawfish étouffée for lunch. It came with a salad for $12.95. It was very good with a slight buttery after taste to the étouffée. It came in a large bowl and was full of shrimp, veggies and rice. It was different in that it was almost soupy with the étouffée 'gravy'. I am used to it being over a bed of rice and eaten with a fork. This étouffée required a spoon. Like I said it was very good and I would give it a 5. This is an excellent restaurant where you are assured a very good meal no matter what you order. The only slight negative is that it is about 7 miles from Beaumont but it is well worth the drive even if you are just passing through Beaumont. From I 10 it is about an 8 minute drive. I have eaten here twice and realize that this restaurant is worth a 5 star rating. It really is that good. Go eat here and you will leave happy!!! read more
