We were in Beaumont for a playdate and lunch with family, so we chose Floyd's on a recommendation. It was really good. It was a Saturday so it was pretty busy, but being lunch time we didn't have a huge wait. We were a party of 7 and it seemed that there were a few other large parties out and about that day. I really wanted the seafood pasta because it sounded delicious, but I can't have pasta, so I did a crazy thing and ordered it without the noodles. It was SO good! As soon as my dish was set in front of me, I got so excited. It was a lot of food. Enough to share with my baby and still take home leftovers. I'm sure it's delicious with the pasta, but it's also delicious without. My baby and I were both so happy with the choice. He couldn't get enough and kept wanting more bites. I have been going to this establishment since I was a child. Back then it was called Don's Seafood and Steakhouse and was a place we went with my grandfather when we were celebrating something special. While Don's is gone Floyd's carries on the same tradition of exceptional seafood and steaks. My all time favorite is their cream based Crawfish Bisque. I love Floyd's and have been a patron of them for over 20 years. My favorite location is the original in Webster and Friendswood/Pearland is not far behind that one. I have been to this location a few times before moving to this area and now that we're over here it's our closest location. Although the food and staff and service here are good, my heart is still with the Webster location mainly because I just knew all of my servers. Including Manuel for whom there are a couple of menu items named after! A lot of times my wife and I just mainly eat items off of the appetizer menu. The Catfish pieces, fried Alligator, and the seafood stuffed jalapenos are our favorites especially if our 9 year old is with us, he loves the fried alligator as much as we do, maybe more. But I always start my meal with one or two dozen oysters on the half shell. I'm days of old, I'm talking about a few years back. About every seafood house that served oysters on the half shell served them by the Baker's Dozen, which is thirteen oysters on your serving tray. I guess because of such high prices I find very few that do that any more. Floyd's was always good about that. Not so much anymore. Also, the oysters my wife and I were served the other day would have been illegal to have been harvested from the bay. I know those oysters were so small they wouldn't have made the 3" inch minimum! I thought it, but my wife said it!!! The oysters we were served the other day were extremely small. At any rate, we decided to order a dinner before we left and we were going to take our appetizers that were left home. I ordered the fried oysters dinner with fries and my wife ordered grilled shrimp and veggies off of the lunch menu. Her shrimp were perfect and she loved them, but my oysters were so dang tiny after being fried it was very disappointing. Especially paying market price for juvenile oysters on a huge mound of French Fries. I didn't know where they get their oysters, but if I were the one receiving them I would have sent them back or notified TP&W about undersized oysters. This is right in the middle of Texas' oyster season and selling oysters that are about an inch long after frying is just a travesty. Other than that, everything else we had was very good. read more

I had the roast beef Poboy and onion rings. While the onion rings were cold upon delivery they were thin cut and still crispy. Roast beef Poboy was good consistency. I prefer a crispier bread. I love Floyd's. While I have ordered many things from their menu, my standard order is a bowl of crab bisque: there are a lot of seafood options in Beaumont, but Floyd's is the only place that I know of where I can get a good cup or bowl of crab bisque (crawfish bisque is also an option on their menu). The crab bisque with their complimentary garlic bread is *chef's kiss*. Their stuffed potato (which is a twice baked potato) is also very good and I usually add it to my order. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because they don't thoroughly remove the crab shells from the bisque. There has never been an occasion where I've ordered this dish where shells weren't present. I still recommend the dish, because it's honestly delicious, but I warn you to eat it very very carefully and I wouldn't recommend ordering it for small children due to this reason. read more

I requested they put the asparagus on the grill with spices added and oh my gosh, it was all soo good! My waiter was exceptional and I didn't wait more than a few minutes for my food. This place is AMAZING! I arrived on a Tuesday night around 5:40 and it was already busy. By the time I left at 6:30, it was packed! There is a fantastic happy hour with great drinks and a variety of apps. Prices were excellent as well. The menu itself os quite extensive, with a variety of seafood and "down home cooking" options. So many different things to choose from, it was hard to narrow it down. I ended up ordering a margarita and half a dozen oysters from the happy hour menu to start. They came out fresh and fast! The margarita was very strong and delicious and the oysters were clearly fresh and extra large. For my meal, I decided upon a flounder fillet (I chose grilled, but blackened and fried were also available). I added one of the toppings, choosing the shrimp and crawfish creole and gumbo, with a side of fried okra. There were multiple sides to choose from (my meal came with one). The food came out very quick, mostly considering that it was getting busy. Everything was amazing! It was almost too much for one person, but I managed to eat it all. Went here with the family one Saturday night. We had a large party of 8 so we had to wait a little bit as they were very busy. We got drinks from the busy bar while we waited. Once we were sat our server was very nice and attentive. We shared a few different appetizers, we got the Boudin balls $9.99 for 6, Fried Calamari $12.99 and the Shrimp Cocktail $8.99 for 6. They also gave us some delicious but simple garlic bread to start off. The Boudin balls were very tasty but kind of small. The Calamari was great, especially with Floyd's Creole sauce that comes with it. The breading was light but crispy. The shrimp cocktail were quite big, their cocktail sauce had a very strong horseradish taste that was a little overpowering. For my entrée I got the Seafood Pasta $24.99 which was just okay. The noodles were super limp/soft and overcooked. I also could not tell if there was any crab in it at all, for the amount of proteins in it, it was hard to find them except for the 5 shrimp. The dish overall was kind of bland, I mopped up the sauce with their garlic bread which was good. I am sure I will be back sometime but I would skip the pasta dish as it is not worth the money for it it in my opinion. read more

Both were quite good - according to her the roux for both was "burned just the right amount". Blackened fish for me was good but not exceptional. We were traveling east on I-10 through Texas and started looking for spots to eat near Beaumont and found Floyd's. Honestly some of the reviews were a little off putting, but we decided to give it a try and were glad we did. For starters, our waiter Andrew quickly brought out hot garlic bread. For the appetizer we had the fried green tomatoes - a serving of three which came on a bed of fresh yellow corn which we could tell was cut right off the cobb mixed with red and green bell peppers, onions and a remoulade sauce. Next, for our entrees, hubby had the redfish fried for a change and a house salad. I had the Little Laffayette platter consisting of fried catfish with fried shrimp, hush puppies and jambalaya. All were pretty tasty. I'll add that the jambalaya and fish could have used a little more seasoning. The shrimp had a fresh sweet flavor I hadn't tasted before but quite enjoyed. For dessert we had the fresh baked daily bread pudding topped with a bourbon sauce, and contained pecans coconut and a surprise cream cheese filling, a side of vanilla ice cream and topped with a lone plump strawberry! Very good! Our waiter Andrew was superb, charming and on point with his favorites, recommendations on portion sizes and his review of the bread pudding was well deserved. Let's get to ambiance. This place isn't the prettiest or snazziest of restaurants, think clean Cajun restaurant that needs updating. It kind of reminds me of the old Western Sizzling restaurants. I wish I could remember her name, but she's a keeper and definitely worth a big tip. I asked her for recommendation and she have many. So I went with. Seafood Courtbouillon Cajun seafood stew with shrimp, crab meat, crawfish, catfish, bell peppers & onion in a mixture of gumbo and creole sauce. It was so good. Our absolute favorite place in the area. My husband gets a cup of crawfish bisque every time. I get a cup of seafood gumbo. They give you garlic bread when you first sit down. Get the chicken fried steak cut into tenders. The gravy they serve it with is so good. It's different than your typical cream gravy. I usually order the stuffed shrimp, grilled or fried. Their boiled crawfish is great when it's in season. We have brought many out of town friends here, and it's always a hit! It's not a fancy place, dress comfortable. read more
