My favorite local hole-in-the-wall gem! The menu is super creative and diverse. Beautiful quality food heavy with local ingredients. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Every visit my meal looks like it should have come from a fancy expensive restaurant, but Libelula is affordable and approachable. This visit I had charred corn ravioli that were incredible! Very flavorful sauce and great texture with crunchy freeze-dried corn on top. Friendly & attentive service.
Libelula nailed it. I went with the orange chicken sandwich and tots, and both were ridiculously good, crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent without feeling heavy. The sandwich had that perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and the tots were golden and addictive. The outdoor seating is a huge plus too, comfortable, relaxed, and a great spot to just hang out and enjoy your food. On top of that, the service was genuinely friendly and welcoming, which always makes the experience that much better. I'll definitely be back.
We went in with our dog and sat outside. Staff were very friendly brought the dog water and put up an umbrella for us since it was sunny. I ordered the chicken biscuit with a side of gravy. The upcharge 4 dollars for a small side of gravy was a bit much and that meal was maybe like a 6-7/10. My boyfriend got a double smash and that thing was delicious and the strange bread was also good we would for sure get that again 10/10. We had a nice time and we will for sure be back to try more the bacon Apple sandwich is calling my name.
Had a really neat experience trying this spot out on a recent trip to Fresno. Food was great - we both got the smash burger and added a second patty and bacon. The tots were delicious, homemade ketchup paired perfectly. The burger as a double was a good size for me! Service was friendly and quick. Ambiance was unique - check out the photos for decorations. The person who joined me comes here every couple of months and said everything is delicious. Hope to try another item from the menu if in town again. Note - they had street parking and a parking lot you can pay to access across the street.
As soon as i took the first bite of my biscuits and gravy i knew i had to leave a review. This is my first time ever trying Libelula after wanting to try it for forever and i was craving somthing filling. This is so freaking good the gravy is creamy and delicious and the biscuits are soft and golden toasted. Iwill absolutely be coming back .
I came back and was pleasantly surprised by the food I tried this time around. I ordered the smash burger and it was delicious!!! I ate that thing up so quick! It was a good mix of sweet and savory. Sweet from the maple bun I believe and savory from the beef patty and melted cheese. It was chef's kiss!! It was served with a side of tater tots which were super crispy and fried to perfection. I still unfortunately do not like the house made ketchup. It tastes like marinara to me. I'm not a fan of that taste with the tots (personal preference). The service could also be improved. I understand it's one person serving, hosting, and running food but the place is on the smaller side. Not sure if having an additional server or host would help with the service. It took more than 10 minutes to get our bill and we were already finished with our food and packed up to go just waiting for the server who was busy running around trying to serve others. Overall, I'd have to say this place redeemed itself in my book. And I would say just be careful about what you order. The food options are a fusion and if you end up ordering something you don't like, you'd have a bad experience. My first time here, I didn't like what I ordered but this time around, the item I ordered was delicious. I did order a burger which in my book taste good pretty much anywhere I go. IMO, it's not that hard to mess up a burger. In the future if I come here again, I'd probably stick to the non-fusion dishes. If you haven't tried this place, I still do recommend it. It's a local joint, farm to table concept, and pretty good depending on what you get.
I've lived in Fresno my whole life and have been meaning to try Libélula forever, but I finally was able to recently, and it was fantastic! We got two chicken sandwiches, and they were packed with meat and flavor. The romesco chicken sandwich was nice and fresh, and the pickle chicken sandwich was also flavorful. We also got the chili mac and cheese (not pictured), and that was SOOO good. Would come back for that alone. As for the service--it was great! I think our server's name was Kim. She was so sweet and helpful with the menu and the wait time. In general, she was just very friendly and inviting. The restaurant itself is small but cute and very decorated. I would come back!
3 years later, service was still the same and food even better than I remembered! I love how everything has just so much heart poured into it, and you can tell the HOMEMADE vibe is taken seriously. I really appreciate this establishment!
I have been coming here since quarantine and their food is delicious every time! It's a gem in our downtown. The food changes with the seasons, so things do go away and come back. There is also a baker attached to them!
Hands down the best french toast I've ever had. I scarfed it down in 10 minutes. The service was great (quick) and appreciate the recs from the server. She would check in from time to time (so attentive!). Don't be fooled by the exterior - it may look like it's at a bad part of town, but once you walk in, you'd be shocked with the execution if their meals. I'd love to come back to try something else on their menu. It's very diverse and creative in what they can pull off (some are asian inspired).
I been wanting to try this place cus the menu looks good. First of all, parking sucks! Not only is the parking across the street, you have to pay with the meter since this place is located downtown. Parking meter takes tap now but sometimes it gives me a hard time. I had to try three times until it accepted. Had to park a lil far cus most of the closer parking was took. Walking in, we were greeted with a smile from the lady. The inside is cute, it has some old pictures of how downtown Fresno used to look., they got some art on the wall. Gave me a hipster feel to it.. we told the lady we was taking it to go and she gave us a menu. I was lowkey bummed out cus the menu pictures on Yelp looks like they had way more on their menu. We went in the morning so I'm not sure if it was a breakfast brunch menu or if that was just it.. took me a while to finally decide because I wasn't really interested in some of the stuff on that particular menu. I ended up going with the mushroom toast. The lady came to check on us and informed us they also had some specials on the board. My bf went with one of the burrito specials. I don't remember what it's called but it had cheese curds in it. Food came out nice and hot. Got home and ate. The toast for me was hard to cut into for some reason.. but the mushroom mix with the crème fraiche tasted good. The eggs were cooked perfectly. My bf enjoyed his burrito. I had a bite and thought it was good too. The service was nice but I wish I could've went in there with a more wider selection on the menu but like I said, maybe it was a breakfast brunch menu? Idk.
Got there Saturday morning at about 10:30 and had a choice of tables for 5. Nice start. Our group had two Big Dill sandwiches, a Falafel Smash Burger, and Mushroom Noods. I'm on a low sodium diet so avoided a lot on the menu, and went with the Strawberry Stuffed French Toast and had a fried egg on the side. Mine was fabulous. I didn't taste the others, but everyone loved their choices. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was a perfect funky. The bakery goods were delicious as well.
Brunch on a weekday and it was as good as I remember. They still have the korma sauce and charge $4 as a side but ngl... I'm not even mad about it. It's savory, delicious and similar to an Indian curry. I ate it with tots. I also ordered the veg Benedict. After I ate my meal, I realized I may have gotten this same order the last time I was here. Muscle memory, perhaps? Amazing both times. Service was friendly, great and fast. Bathroom has downtown homeless vibes, but I'm not even bothered with how memorable the food is. Take my money!

First experience at libelula and did not disappoint !! The location itself is kind of out of the way, "hole in the wall" is how I would describe it. The menu overall is very diverse, a lot of vegetarian options. I got the duck egg gnocchi and it was very delicious. The flavors especially the brown butter worked well with the broccoli and toasted almonds. The gnocchi was comparable if not better to some of the gnocchi I've had in Italy. Went there for lunch today after taking my dad to the VA to see his speech pathologist. I had the bone marrow stroganoff which was amazing. It was more than I could finish, so I brought home to my husband who ate it cold and was impressed. My mother had the Pork Belly Bahn Mi which was delicious and came with perfectly crispy tator tots and house ketchup. My dad ordered the burger, they had a Mediterranean burger special that sounded amazing, but they made him just a regular bacon cheeseburger instead. He has dementia and struggles finding his words, but she was incredibly patient with him while he placed his order. We of course couldn't leave without trying the Big A$$ Cinnamon Roll. This thing is huge, like the size of 4 normal giant Cinnamon rolls the $10 price tag is not unreasonable. They brought it to us in a to go container and gave us extra frosting because, well, fat kid problems. It was tasty and most of it came home with us. The place is a bit loud, but service is great, food is fantastic, owners are friendly, and the portions are good. We will definitely be returning. Bonus: a homeless woman stopped in saying she was diabetic and needed something to eat. Instead of treating her poorly or shoeing her away the owner quickly grabbed something from the kitchen for her. read more

This cozy, quirky little restaurant was the perfect date night spot for my husband and I. The staff was friendly and they made one of the best vegan meals I have ever had. Ok super hole in the wall with excellent food!! I've been here twice now and I'm so happy I found it. The first time I was looking for a brunch place to work at. I saw ahead of time that there was no wifi, so I was able to prepare. I got there around 10:30am on a Wednesday, it was not super packed and was able to set up at a corner table for a little bit. I ordered the veggie Benny and I had no regrets. It was the best decision I made that day!! I've already eaten the chilakilla burrito and know that the big a$$ burrito is good. This is a serious hole-in-the-wall right near the old Crest theater downtown. It has fresh ingredients and an interesting menu. I found it thanks to jury duty right before the coronavirus hit. If you want to have quiet conversation, this is not the place. It can get pretty loud in there. I ordered the Cajun Cristo, a sandwich with smokey sausage, jack cheese, and raspberry sauce. It came with a generous portion of tater tots. It was pretty darn good. I will be back once all the craziness in the world subsides. read more

This is a literal hidden gym. Location is a bit surprising, but I'm secretly hoping people don't find out about it so it's not overcrowded. Had breakfast here for my wife's birthday and loved it! We are originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and this place gave us all the nostalgia feels. The decor is unabashedly unique (love the vegan taxidermy) and the staff are very welcoming. It wasn't too busy on a Friday morning, but the owner came out during our meal to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. Always appreciated. I ordered the bread pudding French toast and my wife had the mushroom toast. The French toast came with a caramel drizzle that was delicious and brought an even amount of sweet and salty. The toast itself was fluffy and its egg flavor was a great complement to the drizzle. I would come back weekly just for this. Only had a bite of the mushroom toast but it was packed full of flavor albeit a bit salty. Only knock I have is the limited drink selections as I requested tea and they only had green. Otherwise, we plan on bringing all of our out of town guests to this spot just to watch their reactions. read more

I love this place for its vegan and non vegan options! Every time I go try a vegan option on the menu I love it! They are very accommodating to make things on the menu vegan. Today I ordered the Mushroom Bulgogi tacos and they were the best vegan tacos I've ever had!! The vibes is great and the staff is so chill and genuine. This place is 10/10 read more

Finally made it here to try the huge cinnamon rolls, the first time I saw it advertised it was 6.99 but the price went up to 10.00 it was yum but a little doughy. Cute decor and love that it's walking distance from work. Will go back and try the food food next time. read more

I'm not here too often which used to be my stomping grounds when I worked at Orange Julius by the clock tower. Jury duty beckons it's call and I have to report. I used my favorite app, Yelp, to check out places to eat. I found this place right around the corner from the Crest Theater on Broadway and Fresno Street. Outside you couldn't tell if this was a restaurant or some closed down building. Once inside it a different atmosphere, clean and organized. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with pork belly and a side of more pork,bacon. The food was quite good and the price was okay. The only issue was that the English muffin was hard to cut through but otherwise had good buttery flavor and the gravy was awesome. read more
1st trying this establishment and its definitely "hipster" as my friend would say. Ordered watermelon and corn salad special, stone fruit grill cheese and strawberry mint tea. Watermelon and corn salad was pretty tasty dressing was a little spicy. Stone fruit grill cheese was a little odd to me it was served on a hamburger bun would have preferred a nice toasted sandwich bread. The tea special was a bust pretty much tasted like water definitely lacked flavor. The tater tots they serve were nice and crispy but they don't carry ranch dressing odd. Overall interesting place but wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

I came by Libelula for an early lunch. I've seen some posts for this place. it caught my eye and was near the downtown area, so I figured I would swing by. Like the other reviews say, the decor is rather eclectic and space can be tight. It makes me think about how accessible this place is for people in wheelchairs, but I guess the owners know what to do in those situations Ok. The food. We ordered the spicy Mac and cheese and overall it was good. The sauce itself is pretty rich and the kimchi was perfect to cut through, but I wish it was spicier and that there was more of it. The sandwich was great and huge, but again when I see something denoting spice I want it to have a kick and this was a tap. Overall, this place was ok but there were instances in which the dishes could've been a bit more developed. For the price I'd expect that. read more

Fresh ingredients and interesting flavor profiles at modest prices in Downtown Fresno! I love Libelula's commitment to a farm-to-table approach which of course means items on their menu will rotate and specials will crop up when seasonal ingredients are freshest. They offer excellent creations for omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans alike. The space is cozy and full of eclectic decor! Every wall, table, and corner is visually interesting. I appreciate that even though the area could probably feel packed very easily, due to their table arrangement and appropriately timed service a busy Saturday afternoon didn't feel like a sardine can. All staff and the owner were friendly and attentive, even topping off my tea of the day at no extra charge. Cash and cards are both accepted so really there's nothing holding you back from trying this place! read more

Enjoyed my birthday brunch very much!! The pork meat on my Benedict was a little dry. I loved the flavor combo in the Thai Mac n Cheese. I wish it was a little spicier or came with more chili on the side. We loved the mushroom toast!! read more
If you go by location along you would probably make a hard pass on this place. Downtown Fresno, not exactly a clean surrounding but the food made up for it. Peach Brie sandwich add bacon and a sriracha maple fried chicken sandwich were on the menu today. Everything was good, was told the chicken sandwich could have used more kimchi. read more

Just left this establishment and I am honestly not very impressed. When we first got there our table was dirty. (Understandable for a busy Saturday morning) BUT I anticipated the staff having some sense of urgency in getting our table clean. They did not. The table behind ours got bussed and sat prior to our table being bussed. The owner I believe came over and she kept apologizing telling us that our table would get cleaned. About another 10 minutes went by and still no clean table. Finally the owner comes back over and cleans our table herself. She was sincere in her apology (which I appreciated) for the table not being cleaned in a timely manner. But it was still slightly frustrating due to the fact that the young girl who bussed the table behind ours could have easily cleaned our table but instead it was as if she didn't even see that we were there. Now to the food. I ordered the tots with spicy red curry sauce and added habanero cheese. The tots were excellent. Nice and crispy. Perfectly cooked. The cheese was good as well. But it lacked heavily on the curry sauce. I ordered the tots based off a prior yelp review that showed a photo and the sauce looked bright red and fragrant. Mine didn't appear to have the sauce on it. However I did notice 2 Thai chili's under my fried egg. Overall rating of this place is 3 stars. I understand the business is fairly new but I definitely think there needs to be a slight increase in the customer service and urgency of providing customers with clean tables. I think I will give this place another shot. The sriracha fried chicken looked pretty good. So I'll give that a go my next time around. read more
I've been wanting to try this place for months, but just haven't gotten around to it - either no parking or they are not open when I'm getting off work downtown. I ordered through Grubhub pickup today and got the eggs Benedict (adding 2 pieces of bacon and avocado) and a side of tots. After adding a 15% tip, the total was $30. There was one parking spot open so I lucked out, and the service was very good when I entered. They packaged the food up nicely and did all they could do to ensure it was warm for when I got home. As for the food, it was ok. The tots were my favorite. The English muffin they used was great and big, unlike the cheap store bought ones. The eggs were great, a bit cold by the time I got home, but still good. The hollandaise sauce wasn't very flavorful, nor was the pork. The added bacon was extra crispy as I had asked, so that was nice. Overall, the food wasn't too impressive, especially for a $30 breakfast. The prices here for breakfast items in particular seem to be very pricey. I would expect tots to come as a side with the eggs Benedict given the price, but it was an additional $5 add on. It just seems way overpriced. While I won't likely return for breakfast items, I will definitely return to try some of their lunch items. The entire menu looks delicious. read more

If you're looking for a delicious high quality not your average meal Libelula is the place to go! I seriously wanted to lick my plate clean. The chicken in the sriracha maple chicken sandwich was so crispy and so juicy! Both the sandwich and burrito had so much flavor I'm consistently thinking about it afterwards. It felt like we were eating in LA or San Francisco definitely a change up in the average Fresno restaurants. Definitely worth every penny! read more

I took a trip to Fresno and saw the reviews so I decided to come here for brunch at around noon. It was so delicious! My partner and I ate every bite!!! I ended up spreading the dressing on top of my sandwich across the top because it was so good! 10/10 recommend again! read more
