I've had a leased vehicle a few years back, before going with LG AutoGroup.
Let me tell you, the process of getting my new ride at that time, took a lot of man hours. I had to drive 30+ miles to find the exact make and model with all the specifics that I wanted, like color, interior, safety features, and other much sought after goodies.
This was after visiting at least three different dealerships and still coming up short. This meant I had to talk to four different sales reps to try and figure out what pricing included what features and options.
Most of them didn't seem to even care what my goals were with the car and what I was looking for in the car. They kept trying to upsell me and throw in some big rims and take the navigation package, neither of which I was looking for. Just trying to fatten up their commission.
I specifically told each of them I had a certain budget I was trying to stick to, because most of us have other things in life we are responsible for, like rent or mortgage, auto/health/life insurances, kids, family that we take care of, day to day expenses, etc. etc. etc.
Even then, I still want to hop up out of bed in the morning and jump in my fresh, clean ride. That's what I look forward to. Feels good going to work and taking on the day in a happy mood because I'm in my happy car.
I got my car from the last dealership I found it at. Got a pretty good deal because I knew what to do and how to do it. I went on with my life. Three years pass and it was time, my lease was due. Keep in mind, I don't deal with the process often since I lease a new vehicle every three years. Of course things change.
I tried going back to the same sales rep, who is a manager. I wanted to give them a shot at earning my business again as a repeat customer. When I got to the dealership, they seemed to remember me because they were able to pull up my info in the computer system. No smiles really, or even the routine "Hey, how have YOU been? How is life treating YOU? Has the car been good to YOU?"
All I heard was that it looks like my lease is due soon and what car can I get you next. Like as if I'm expected to give them the repeat business just like that, without having to earn it.
The moral of the story is... you can do anything yourself, you can choose any direction to go, and decide for yourself what is best for you and yours.
I talked to Jeff, a longtime friend of mine by the way, who I lost touch with over the years. I told him I've been hearing good things about how he conducts his business. I even referred old co-workers and friends long before, just never decided to go with it myself, because I chose to do it the hard way. Do it myself... because I know what to do and how to do it.
I decided this time, with everything I've got going on in life and what I've endured over the years, that it would make sense to go toward his direction. Why make it harder on myself than I need to? After all, Jeff is a pro at this because he loves it, he does it for an honest living, and he's on point with it.
I told him what I was kind of looking for. At first, I wasn't even sure what options were available to me, and so he made a few simple suggestions. Got me same day pricing. Located the exact vehicle with exact specs within a moments notice, and had it delivered conveniently to my driveway the next day. Mannnnn... I've always been confident in his abilities to deliver and this was impressive. True story.
