I'm not a big coffee person, but my wife is. Came here with a friend, got the mocha with hemp. The hemp gave it a nice nutty flavor, the coffee balanced well with the mocha, which tasted amazing compared to any other mocha I've had before. And the foam cream on top, I did not expect it to taste so good. This place made me crave coffee for the first time in my life! I'm definitely gonna bring my wife here next time. No more Starbucks, at least when I'm in this area. read more

It's a pretty cool place. It has a rustic aesthetic. If you need to work on something it has wifi and places to plug in things.

I agree with the Sunday morning comment. Walked in and a stood at the counter. No acknowledgement from staff behind the bar. Stood for a few minutes and left. Cool decor in this location. May try again on a weekday. read more

Very potent, highly caffeinated cold brew! Like literally has me shaking. Yas fam. Cool people run the place + fun use of the airplane theme. The flavor is a bit ordinary, but it's nearby, nice working space & tons of caffeine so can't complain. I do like how there's a new blend weekly which gives the menu a fresh feel every time. read more

If you come here, you can't be in a hurry. With that being said, I never mind waiting because I know I'm about to chill / study hard when I go. The brown sugar latte (or something like that) is my fave! Their barista with the curly hair is always smiling and it makes me feel so welcomed! I also really enjoy their burritos. A lil pricey, but they are made right there on the spot, no warming up in a microwave, to me that's worth it - I like my food hot & fresh. It's always busy when I go, but I always manage to find a seat - granted I usually go by myself to study. Nice spot to chill with friends as well, plenty of outlets, couches, sweet little corners to tuck into a book or study. Love this spot! read more

Really like the vibes here. Was on my way to a different location to drink coffee but then I saw this place. I decided to park and first thing when I walk in was that it was empty like 2 people here. If your introvert like me and love mornings that are quiet, you gotta come here. I love their vanilla latte plus the whole atmosphere and look of the place. So relaxing, not to mention the music. If your looking for a quiet place in the morning to get your morning coffee come to "Lift Coffee Roaster" you won't regret it. read more

It's a very cute, aesthetic coffee shop. I actually went back the next day after my first visit for a hot chocolate and to purchase another plant from them. Both were wonderful! Definitely recommend. read more

This is my new favorite coffee shop. The decorations are super cool. They have regular seats and tables as well as some really comfy arm chairs and a sofa. It's a great place to study, does not get very loud like other places I've been to. My favorite drink is the chai tea latte with hemp milk. I highly recommend it. They also had a vegan baklava which I LOVED. Also, the staff is always so nice and helpful. They make you feel so welcome. read more

I love the atmosphere here. Environment wise, it is well situated for a new coffee shop. The vibes are the best. They have multiple seating locations so I was easy to pick a right spot. You will have good quality coffee and lattes for the price. I highly recommend this place to people who look for the place to study or to have a word with friends in private. read more

Been here several times, its an easy place for lunch. But won't be back. Despite the good sandwiches and good coffee, they have VERY poor service. I waited about 15 minutes for a sandwich and when I walked up to check on it was told by the man I'd ordered with, "It was called out awhile ago" which seemed to absolve him of any responsibility, including the pleasantry of an apology. What made the visit worse was the homeless man panhandling inside the store who was given a coffee and sat down where he laughed and sang to himself. If I'd given this place a review a week ago it would've been very positive. It doesn't take much to turn the tide. read more

Coffee is excellent! I had a cold brew and my friend had a vanilla latte with hemp milk both delicious. My only problem is with the male barista not very friendly seemed annoyed that I asked about what coffee was used for the cold brew and couldn't even tell me the price of the bags of coffee. Just said prices varied. Haha could you hire someone friendly or with personality. read more

Good coffee! A bit of a wait (like 20 min for two drinks, one being a cold brew), but there were a lot of people and only like 2 baristas. Love coming here whenever I'm in town. read more

Pretty awesome coffee. Walked in and four baristas were behind the counter. None of Ben really addressed us. A guy started helping us. I was asking questions about their coffees but he didn't really know much about them. I asked him about their drip coffee called Santa Barbara. All he said was "it's good," which it is. Nice spot. It would have been nice to learn more about their coffees since they have coffee roasters in their name. read more

Awesome place! The ambiance inside is so well set. The owner is there himself and is a very presonably guy, which is awesome. They are making some amazing additions to the shop, this is how coffee shops should be! read more

Great coffee and really lovely atmosphere. For a more contemporary coffee shop, I was surprised to see old timers and families here mostly reading the newspaper or chatting. They have a small plane theme with a couch and coffee table that matches the theme. The space is also pretty big, has a communal table, small tables, and a bar looking onto downtown Whittier. The plain drip with a splash of almond milk was perfect. The honey latte was far too sweet. read more

First time trying this coffee and I loved it. Okay ordered the vanilla iced latte w oat milk. It was creamy and rich. They are pet friendly. I got lucky and found parking across the street. After picking up my coffee I enjoyed a nice walk with my dogs and kiddos. Stopped by Starbucks for cake pops for the kiddos and wondered how anyone could bring buying Starbucks coffee when Lift is 1000x better. read more

The staff here is super friendly and knowledgeable if you are undecided on what to get. I love the atmosphere here and can get slot of work down in this very relaxed and chill environment. I had one of the best vanilla lattes here but my absolute favorite was recommend by a staff member is the honey latte. All I can say is yum! I highly recommend this place to everyone that wants something different than the usual Starbucks or coffee bean. You really get good quality coffee and lattes for the price. read more

LFTD - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Whittier, California

I wanted something other than a chain coffee while visiting family and so I decided to check it out. At 9:00 am on a Sunday it was empty, which gave me pause. There's a "serious about coffee" yet trendy vibe which I appreciate. It's pricier than chains but you can actually taste the coffee in their lattes, rather than the sweetness that is sometimes overpowering in chain coffees. I took an chance and wasn't disappointed. I'm not sure if it's new but I recommend giving it a chance if you're in the area. read more

TL;DR - maybe a high 3.5, nice space for studying (outlets, WiFi, easy parking) that's been open for less than a year, but I wish there were more food (or at least snack) options ____________________ CONTEXT: Dropped by to get some studying in on a Tuesday afternoon before meeting some old friends for dinner. Also note that I can't comment on coffee because I'm not a coffee person. FOOD/DRINKS From the looks of old photos and reviews, it seems they used to have a longer food menu, but not only offer sandwiches and pastries alongside their coffee and tea. See menu board photo. -- SHAKEN CITRON GREEN TEA ($2.95): Brewed hot and then iced. Looks like it's about 12 oz? Pretty good, refreshing for a warm day. -- GRILLED PORTOBELLO SANDWICH ($8): It's a pre-made and packaged sandwich from Auntie's Bakery & Cafe (just up the block) that gets warmed up in a toaster oven. Decent flavor with a hearty portobello. I asked what was in it and she pulled one out of the fridge below the counter and let me read the ingredient list LOL wasn't expecting that. It wasn't particularly filling - I wish there were some side options like carrot sticks or even a bag of chips, but the only other food is their pastry selection. Seems like they could think through their food options a little better. Otherwise, just stick to coffee, tea, and pastries!! -- COFFEE CAKE ($3): Ordered this because I was still hungry after eating my sandwich. She offered to heat it up, but I'm pretty sure she forgot about it because it sat in the toaster oven for at least 15 minutes haha definitely warmed through with a crunchy outside (maybe because extra toasted LOL) and a soft, fluffy inside. Just sweet enough, and the nuts and streusel add nicely. The pastries also come from Auntie's. STAFF Minimal interaction, but friendly and quick. Only one person was working the counter at a time, but I mean, it's not like it was super poppin' so there wasn't much of a wait. SPACE/LOCATION Now on the corner of Greenleaf and Bailey for just a couple months now after moving from their old location, where they were for 6 months. Fairly large area with a variety of seating options (couch, counter, tables). There are a handful of outlets scattered along the walls. The music is a little loud for my taste, but not unbearable for studying/working. Lighting is a little strange - lots of natural light in the front, bright white light over the counter where they make drinks, but then sort of dim towards the back. The single-person restroom is brightly lit and clean. Street parking ranges from 1 to 2 hours during the day, but there's also a 3 hour parking lot nearby (on Comstock). read more

The service here is shit. The girl behind the counter (short blonde hair) laughed when I added to my order. Another independent coffee shop that employs hipsters that think they're the cat's pajamas. Being a dick is not cool. The latte I ordered tastes like a 12-year old over-poured milk to weakass coffee. The donut was decent. (Otherwise 1 star) Not sure why there are photos for vegan brunch options--but they do not have anything of the sort. All deli sandwiches. read more

I was expecting a great coffee experience. Staff only one lady cashier was not pleasant. No supervision or Management support to make service flow smoothly. Took over 15 minutes for 1 coffee and 1 iced americano. There was no one waiting in line & people seated already had their drinks. I made the decision to not return for overpriced coffee. Monarch cafe is better than Lift. read more

Finally, found time to drop on by to try this location out. Coffee definitely a must try. Nice an tranquil, im a sucker for interior mix of browns and aviation. The barista was helpful with my choice of brew it being my first time. read more

Great place to get some work done -- IF only their WiFi would work. Went 3 days in a row and was only able to connect once after like 20 minutes of trying. I asked someone who worked there, and he just shrugged and said the WiFi is often down. That's key for me, but if you just want a quiet place to read or have a cup of coffee, then I'd recommend this spot. If you're looking to work off a laptop, definitely go somewhere else. read more

I'm so sad and disappointed. It has been a couple months since we have been able to come back and was looking forward to coffee, pastries and scrabble. I was looking forward to the vegan baklava and the pour over and the maple bacon scone to take to my husband along. What we got was zucchini bread that had the texture of an arid desert. My son's coffee cake was not any better. For the price of the pastries please use the ingredient that give the bread its name. The croissant wasn't any better. I can guarantee it was store bought and tasted stale. My latte had great flavor but was served warm and not hot. I'm so very sad that a wonderful coffee place has turned to this. Please find a new baker ASAP and learn to use a thermometer to make coffee. I enjoyed my scrabble game with my son which is a memory I cherish. read more

LFTD - Pour over from Costa Rica at Lift. So good! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Whittier, California

It doesn't matter how good their coffee is, their service is terrible. I have been here so many times and have never ever seen any employee that wasn't rude. They all either have attitude or are not friendly. They were hiring recently and if the people they hired are rude too, then they're doing something wrong. I'd rather interact with nicer people elsewhere. read more

It's a very cool coffee house with a splattering of aviation-themed pieces. They even have a coffee table made by an airplane wing and their furniture is comfortable! It's fairly only been open 2.5 months! Parking is easier accessible in the back area. We asked for the cashier for her recommendation and she suggested Latte and Vanilla Cappuccino and we had a pastry (warmed up). Very cute coffee shop gives you a cozy feeling! I would go back! It even has a small library section and it's perfect for students studying! read more

I came here at 11:45am today and ordered a coffee and a donut. A couple of minutes after ordering the lady who took my order was just leaning against a counter chatting with a co worker instead of making my coffee. This place is solid. I am a little bit snobby when it comes to coffee, which most people don't like, but whatever. I actually hadn't been to this Lift, as I had been to the Riverside one a couple of times. However, I have found myself in Whittier a few times recently and always make an effort to go grab a cup of coffee from this place. Every single time I get a drip coffee and maybe an Iced Chai w/ oat for the gf, and I have never had a bad experience. Normally, they staff on the light side, I notice they are usually quite busy, I've never walked in and placed an order without waiting for a bit, but its good to see they are staying busy. They have a little fridge in the corner hidden a little bit filled with local produce and pickled veggies, might give those a try soon. They have 2 different drip options to choose from and I always choose the funkiest, fruitiest one because those are up my alley. They are always super good! The Iced Chai is so good too, sometimes i get one for myself too, the crushed ice makes it like a slushy and the spicy ginger in the chai just amplifies the sweet richness of the tea concentrate and oat milk. My only gripe is that they did'nt want to hire me a few months back, but everything happens for a reason and now I'm just another one of their fans. read more

Such a cute little coffee shop and the food place inside is also delicious. Coffee was great!

Great addition to the uptown Whittier area. Their cold brew is nice and strong, and refreshing on a warm afternoon. My wife had an iced Americano and loved it. They also sell their own beans, with both regular and decaf varieties. The space is bright with plenty of natural light, and I like their throwback aviation theme. If you want something better than corporate coffee, then come here. read more

It's such a cute coffee shop. They don't have tons of options, so the coffee should be fantastic. Nope. It was just ok. Not even hot!? The options for sugar were limited to Splenda? And, why wasn't it served in mug? The staff needs to pay a lil more attention to these small details. read more

Love this place!! There are many tables and couches and it's very beautifully decorated. The staff is very nice. The ambience is chill and prefect for working or meeting up with a friend. Lift has changed a lot in the past few years in terms of staff, decor, and apparently customer service. I received a gift card for my birthday that was purchased online. The employees tried to run it several times before giving up and saying it might not work at the Whittier location. I have tried several times to contact Lift to rectify the situation, but despite reading my messages they do not respond to my messages or emails. Simply put it is dishonest to sell gift cards that do not work. Very disappointing so I will not be back. read more
