This cafe is the best in Whittier. You can tell that the people here really care about the coffee, environment, and their customers. I say this because of their inclusivity in terms of milk offerings. They're one of the only cafes in Whittier that offer complimentary alternative milks (including OAT MILK). Furthermore, all of their plastic is compostable. The decor is beautiful and warm. Perfect for just a quick coffee or a study date. They have comfortable tables or couches you can relax on. Grabbed a hot coffee here--just plain black coffee and was absolutely ASTOUNDED by their roast. It had fruity notes and chocolate notes without either being overpowering. Super good coffee. I live in the area and have tried lift about 5 times. The first one was a hot chocolate that was mediocre, went back after work to study to find that they close at 7pm, which only gave me an hour to study so I ended up going to the Mexican coffee shop down the street which stays open till 9/10pm. The following two visits my hot brew was cold. And lastly, my friend went in around 6:45pm to order a latte And they told her that they were not making lattes at that time (we guessed because they were closing soon and were feeling lazy to do all the work). When you finish your drink you put your mug in the dirty dish bin which I notice will stay there until they run out of clean mugs. I noticed because they will eventually start using disposable mugs instead of clearing out the dish bin to reuse the non- disposables. The bathroom has been dirty when I've stayed, the sink doesn't get wiped down for sure. Its a cool coffee shop but I do feel staff is really lazy. I'm tempted to speak with management but I can't tell who management would be, none of them appear to be the more responsible, leader type. read more

This darling coffee shop is a must try in Uptown Whittier. The inside has lots of seating in a variety of ways - tables, comfy couches, and chairs. Got a nonfat latte, which was delicious. On Greenleaf Ave there's multiple coffee shops, including coffee bean and Starbucks. I thought I'd try this one because of the aesthetic. However, it ended being the worst tasting coffee and the most expensive on the entire strip. I definitely wouldn't come here unless you want to overpay for what my friend called "coffee that tastes like it was made with dirty water." I came here after hiking Turnbull Canyon with some friends. I was so pleasantly surprised. The Americano was on point and the almond croissant was delicious! If you take sugar make sure to tell the barista while you order because they only have simple syrup. Definitely coming back after my hikes. read more

Love this place but be prepared to wait 25 minutes for a drink. If you have the time to wait I'd say go for it but if you are in any kind of rush do not go here. Have to say this place has very cool vibes! The main counter is made from the wing of a plain pulled right out of the 1950s' or something. The cash register is a tablet that has been fitted onto a wooden frame of some sort, a real interesting fusion of then and now. I ordered a cold brew (as I tend to do) and I wasn't all too impressed. It was to bitter for me and I usually drink coffee black. The taste was just bad. However, I have only had the one drink there so I do hope to go back and see what else they offer.. I do want to clarify that I see a lot of ppl posting that the prices here are high, I would have to disagree. They are the same if not a little lower than Starbucks and places alike.. UPDATE*** This was resolved by taking this to Better Business Bureau. Still shady that it had to go that far. Once I finish up this gift card will definitely be taking my business else where. ********************************************************************** My cousin gifted me a $40 gift card to Lift in December of last year. Granted I do not come in to lift really because I brew a lot of coffee at home versus going out for it. But I do frequent their other spots like Baileys and Aunties a lot more. So when Baileys Juicery moved over to Lift I went on the first day they were inside Lift to get a fruit bowl and some juice to go. I tried to use my lift gift card and the cashier told me that the card was not working, and it was due to Baileys first day in their location so to give it a few days so the system could get them properly added. It made sense so I paid cash and didn't think twice. So, I go in today 3/1/18, and I order my usual I would get from Baileys and the card still doesn't work, and the girl said "oh we upgraded our systems, and these gift cards don't work anymore." I get it stuff always get upgraded, so you think they would just switch me over to a newer gift card? WRONG! The girl just flat out told me after she called a "manager" that they best they could do is give me $20 on a newer gift card, even though I had proof with a receipt my cousin gave me with the gift card proving it did have $40 on the card. Their only defense was "we put signs up in the store for customers to be aware of the switch in systems with regards to the gift cards." Since I never went in until Baileys move I must of missed this, and they never once posted anything on any of their social media platforms. What a Joke! I am not sure what kind of a Con this place is running, and I surely hope this gets resolved, I have emailed their company. But if I get the same run around and horrible service like I did today, I would much rather just go to Local Fixture or anywhere else, for coffee and baked goods, and drive to Nektar to get juice. I know that Baileys, Lift, and Aunties are connected, so I guess i wont be visiting any of them until they make this right which makes me sad because I pride myself on supporting small business, but not when they pull crap like this. read more

Cool coffee shop in Uptown. Ordered an iced chai with almond milk and was sooo happy with my purchase. I'd say it's reasonably priced, nothing too pricey. The lady behind the counter made my drink quickly and was very friendly as well as helpful. She named all of the dairy free alternatives they have, which includes a variety. I used to love coming here all the time just based on the fact that the aesthetic was amazing. The ambiance and okay tasting coffee made up for the always rude employees. However, for some reason Lift seems to have strayed away from their aviation theme and is steering toward a street art edgy theme. The demographic has changed, which isn't so bad, but the name and theme just doesn't fit. I'm not sure if Lift is under new management, but whoever's in charge is running this once great establishment into the ground. The brown sugar latte (or something like that) is my fave! Their barista with the curly hair is always smiling and it makes me feel so welcomed! I also really enjoy their burritos. A lil pricey, but they are made right there on the spot, no warming up in a microwave, to me that's worth it - I like my food hot & fresh. It's always busy when I go, but I always manage to find a seat - granted I usually go by myself to study. I walked in and asked the employee who was at the register if they sold caramel flavored coffees and/or caramel macchiatos and he confidently said yes as he proceeded to clock out. Then, I was patiently waiting in line for a little while for someone to take my order. After about 5 minutes, an Indian looking guy approaches the register & I ask nicely if I can get a caramel macchiato as his coworker assured me they sold them there. The cashier replies with a rude no we don't sell those here. I was confused at that moment as I can see the employees clearly aren't properly trained & now I'm feeling dumb at this point. He seems annoyed now & I just ask for an iced vanilla latte. He then mumbles my total with an annoyed face & tone & I ask how many cents again so I can give him change & he answers with attitude as if I've ruined his day when at this point I just want to take my business elsewhere however I was on lunch so I already wasted enough time at the place to leave. Once I get my drink I go to the counter where he called my drink from as I'm looking for it & he asks once again RUDELY if I had a question when the dumbass KNEW I was looking for my drink. So I ask for the drink he just called out since he didn't ask for my name (idk if that's how they operate) but he just points to a different counter where it is. Extremely unhelpful dumbass employee. I will never walk in there again because of bad customer service no matter how good the coffee is. Btw it was about 85% milk & 15% coffee which is not worth the $5.50 that I paid. Felt like asking for my money back but I was already running late for work & I didn't wanna be THAT customer especially when I was pissed . My husband, daughter, and I walked in at 4pm today (Sunday) and before we could say anything the jerk off guy behind the counter rudely said, "We're closed!". Mind you, the front door was wide open and two people were behind the counter and a girl was sitting at a table. The a-hole with blonde scraggly hair then continued to be a dick and said, "that's why there is a sign on the door." When we walked out I noticed the notebook sized paper on the door saying they were closing at 4 today. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because I went in for the first time last week and got a great tasting chai tea latte. I just don't believe in giving my money to people who treat their customers like shit. I'll be telling my friends and family to steer clear of this place. La Monarca employees are much nicer and they have good coffee. I hope a manager reads this and retrains the employees to be more gracious with customers. I love Whittier, but F this place. read more
