Levy Park isn't huge, but it's extremely nice (especially considering there was nothing there five years ago). There's a great playground for kids and a small dog park separated into two sections for small and large dogs. How cute and relaxing is this park?!! We accidentally discovered it going to Slow Pokes across the street. We came early in the day and it was cold, so not much was going on when we went. There was a few people walking and a food truck. There's a play area for kids, table tennis and foosball, and a shaded area with more games to play. There's a lot of green area if you want to throw a ball or have a picnic. Seen a lot of flyers for fitness classes around, so I assume they do those there. I didn't realize that The Woodshed and Love Shack are Chef Tim Love's places from Fort Worth until I googled the name of the park to do the review. I really liked this park. PART 1 OF REVIEW... My dog and I LOVE visiting Levy Park, it's his favorite place to see his favorite humans (the employees). Let me just preface this by saying I typically don't like writing reviews, but this one is important because Management mishandled a sensitive situation that now jeopardizes the safety and security of all the female patrons and employees. For the sake of clarity, OM means Operations Manager. In April of 2021, I witnessed a very public affair between the OM and a female employee that went on for several months to the extent they were caught canoodling in the breakroom closet. That's another story because the security officer who witnessed that event was wrongfully removed from her post. The affair was so blatant that myself, other patrons and the employees were made very uncomfortable. It was so pathetic, every time the OM saw me, he'd quickly walk away from the female employee or put his head down in shame pretending to text someone as if I didn't witness him acting inappropriately! This went on for 4 MONTHS because the employees who witnessed the affair were afraid to speak up for fear of losing their jobs. After management was made aware of the affair, things escalated and the female employee not only called me out of my name (B*tch), but consistently rolled her eyes and curled her lips in disgust, trying to intimidate me daily. I made Travis of Upper Kirby Management aware of the situation for fear that there might be some form of retaliation and his response was I "engaged staff members on a personal level" and "directly involved myself in personal matters concerning Levy Park." Travis, how would you know I "directly involved myself in personal matters concerning Levy Park" when I've only seen you four times in the past 5 years as a patron? You have ZERO CLUE what goes on at the park on a day-to-day basis and neither does Stephanie, the Park Director. Just curious Travis, when your OM and the female employee with whom he was having the public affair with, walked over to where I was sunbathing and told her, "I love you"... Did I directly involve myself there? When your employees APPROACHED ME and confided in me how uncomfortable they felt because your OM was hitting on them and made sexual innuendos .. Did I directly involve myself then? Why weren't your employees comfortable speaking to Stephanie or going to you directly? Both of you are accessible, aren't you? Or, your HR department? Oh, that's right, you DON'T have one, so they don't have a third party to speak to except for patrons of the park! If they didn't feel comfortable voicing their grievances to several patrons, your office would have never been made aware of your OM's inappropriate behavior. Let's not dismiss the inappropriate comments he made to me in the past like, "I like your curls and hair pinned back, thumbs up" "I like your outfit today, looks good" as he lustfully eyed me up and down or "What's your number, I'll send you names of Christian artists I listen to?" Isn't your OM married with children? Do these comments seem appropriate to you, Travis? I know what grooming and predatory behavior looks like and this is a classic case of it. I don't need your OM to send me names of Christian artists in exchange for my phone number to start grooming me. When I stroll through the park and see your OM sitting for HOURS flirting with female employees and stealing company time... Is that your definition of me directly involving myself again? I just gave you four separate examples of what minding my business looks like, so how could I have "directly involved myself in personal matters concerning Levy Park'' when your OM is choosing to publicize his affairs? You should be ASHAMED at yourselves for trying to demonize my name at the park because you want to hide your OM's blatant affairs! Your office has chosen to use me as your scapegoat to deflect his predatory behavior and as a result, you are putting the female employees, patrons and children at risk for sexual harassment while he's employed by you! IT'S SICKENING! Your OM needs to be removed from the property immediately! Only God knows how many vendors, contract employees and other patrons has been subject to his sexual harassment? The thought of visiting the park and getting predatory, lustful vibes from him and watching him groom your new female employees is DISGUSTING! Is there a reason why he and the female security officer with the blonde hair were seen secretly meeting up in the wooden storage room in the early mornings? Wasn't she supposed to be circling the park and shouldn't he be working? I can't imagine what the two of them were doing in there off camera!? I find it highly suspicious he looked around to ensure no one saw him before entering and exiting the storage unit. I wonder why? Really enjoyed coming to this park with my daughter! The best part about it is that the playground is closed off, so your child can not just easily run out to the street. We quite enjoyed the section for books, and activities. They also have a sprinkler section for the hot summer days. A great way for your kids too cool off after playing. There are small tables for eating, as well as bigger tables for adults. You can easily come have lunch at the park without having worry about eating on floor. Parking was not an issue. There seemed to be plenty of parking spaces available. Definitely will be returning. read more

Unique park inside the loop. Instead of a traditional playground, it has climbing walls, tunnels, and water features. Additionally, there's ping pong, mini golf, library, foam building blocks and cases with art supplies. There's also food trucks on-site and a dog park. The recently finished Levy Park is beautifully Instagrammable. The many different textures and colors make framing your photo easy and post-worthy. There's also lots to do: a kids park with a giant slide, musical steps, a big bridge that runs through the trees your little ones will love to run across, multiple tunnels to run through, and an art cart with coloring sheets and crayons/pencils for some fun quiet time outside. They also have lots of games and outdoor activities you can use while at the park, making it a fun trip for the whole family. There's restrooms, water fountains, and when I was there a few different food stands/food trucks for snacks and drinks. Parking can be rough, especially on those rare beautiful days in Houston. Be prepared to circle for a bit if it's busy. I did like how the kid's park is fenced in, but I don't appreciate there being multiple entrances/exits. It defeats a lot of the purpose of the fence if I still have to worry about my kid running out the back entrance. While the park is neat because it's different, I think more traditional playground equipment would be nice to give the kids something else to do- especially the younger toddlers. It scared me to death to let me 2-year old climb up the hill and slide down the big concrete slide with 20+ other kids ranging in age from 2-10! And those big kids don't necessarily look before hurdling themselves down the slide to make sure they won't knock down or slide over a little kid. Overall, the park is nice. It's new, clean, and looks like a modern urban playground should. I think it's best for kids a little older than mine (probably 4+), though, unless you're willing to fight crowds to park and then watch your kids like a hawk inside the park. read more

Levy park is a cool place in uptown. The park is set between a bunch of high rises and is a breath of fresh air for those wanting to get out and walk. The good : The park has a small walking trail with solid stones to walk or get a baby in a push cart. There is a play area for kids and it's enclosed to enable the little ones to play too. There is a small vegetable and herb garden that is a delight The bad: There are way too many dogs in the park and some of irresponsible owners get their dogs too close or take them off their leash. I saw one dog lunge at a small child, whose father picked up the child just in the nick of time preventing injury to the child The ugly: There isn't any plastic for dog poop. This is hands down the most gorgeous and well-designed park I've ever been to. I fell in love the second I stepped foot into it. There's a section for dogs, one side for big dogs the other side for small dogs. They each have plenty of hills, shade, and benches. There are even mini water fountains built into the ground that intermittently spray for the dogs to play. It was all astroturf, cement, and gray gravel so the dogs didn't get muddy or dirty while having a good time. There is also plenty of seating throughout the park with tons of shade. There was a child's play section with a splash pad, rock wall, tunnels, and practically anything else a child would love all in one. This was also shaded with large trees. Like I said, the designers of this park thought of everything. There was even a kiddie area with small tables and chairs next to two "art carts". There carts had paper and colors for the kids! It was adorable. They also had stands with free books. There's also a large sheltered area next to a large open field next to the children's park. Next to that was a building for bathrooms. Food trucks were parked along the street next to more seating for customers to eat in the shade and in peace. Overall, I am absolutely in love and bravo to the designers. If you are a dog owner, have kids, or want to spend a few hours in a gorgeous spot of town, this is your park. Levy Park is pristine! It's well-maintained and offers two dog parks (one for smaller pups and one for the larger variety) and a gorgeous kid's playground. For the adults, Levy has three restaurant/bar-ish places to grab some grub (including a smokehouse) or a drink. The only downside is that parking is tricky and limited. So if you plan on going on a Saturday, good luck (it's worth it, though)! read more

This park sets the bar high for park standards. Levy Park is a playground/ outdoor arena/dog park/ game room all-in-one. Where was this park when I was in my sandbox days? You literally can go from splashing around to crawling and climbing to casually reading to making an art masterpiece to challenging someone to a friendly game of Candyland to laying out on the lawn while listening to a live band. This past weekend there were 3 trucks available. - There's a stage area facing a large lawn where they play live music and host random events. - There are tables available to eat, play games, or do arts and crafts on. - The play ground area accommodates kids of all ages. -The ground in the playground area is super soft. It's almost like they have a cushion under it. - The dog park is separated to accommodate small and large dogs. - All of the activities are free. You're just expected to put things back in their designated place. - The restrooms are well kept and chic. Cons: - The playground equipment can get really hot due to the lack of shade in some areas. - Parking is limited. -The dog park area is kinda small. - There aren't any swings.(personal preference of mine) I highly recommend recommend kids from 1-92 to come hang out at this park. A cute little park tucked away in a corner near 59 that is brilliantly designed. My favorite part of this park are the vegetable gardens. It's nice to see the city encouraging an urban eco-culture and it's oddly relaxing seeing baby tomatoes growing or zucchini flowers...... They also have free books and games available for anyone to use and a huge children's playground that makes even adult children envious. Definitely one of my favorite parks in Houston! read more

My family visited Levy Park today for the first time had we had a ball! There's an open green space where you can play catch or soccer with lawn chairs in the shade so I can watch and relax. Inside there is a slide that all the kids loved going on. The splash pad was also a huge hit. There was a little "rock" climbing wall for bigger kids, mounds for toddlers to climb, a merry go round, and a few tunnels. I really enjoyed the family restrooms. Today, my husband and I stopped at Levy Park to hang out and enjoy a nice walk. After parking our car, we walked over to Slow Pokes coffee shop, which is on the Park property to get a cup of coffee so we could enjoy a nice stroll at Levy park. After getting our coffee, we were surprised that our car was in the process of being towed. We were able to stop the tow truck driver and it appears that the security guard had tipped off the tow truck driver to pick up our car. We had only been in the coffee shop for 10 minutes. The tow truck driver made us pay him $100 cash in order to drop our car and give it back to us. The security guard proceeded to give a fist bump to the tow truck driver during this ordeal. We find this extremely disappointing and unprofessional. My husband and I Had to pay $100 to get our car back when all we did was try to enjoy a nice day at Levy park. We do not plan to return to Levy park. What was once a nice, relaxing place where we could enjoy ourselves is now a place where the security guard works with a tow truck driver to make money from hard-working citizens based off of a legal technicality. read more

This review this for the dog park only. First off the big dog section is more apt for small dogs. Seriously, it's tiny. I've had apartments bigger. Second, the water fixtures never seem to be on anymore. Yet there seems to be plenty of water for the children's waterpark (which dogs are not allowed into). This is not a good place to take your dog especially in the summer when heat exhaustion is rampant. They don't even have a water fountain for the dogs inside. You have to take them out for them to get water. In short, great if you have kids, terrible for pets. read more

This is a newly renovated park and it's pretty great. There are playgrounds, dog area, water spraying thing that gets the kids wet for the drive home, and a stage with lots of shade trees around. It's like a mini-version of Discovery Green hidden between Greenway Plaza and Kirby. Time will tell whether there will be many events there, but even by itself, it's a great park so I'm glad it's there. Truth be told, the location is kind of boring and if this was in any other city, it would be near a river or a hill or something, but it's Houston and it's flat so it is what it is. read more

Since the remodel, levy park is a 5-star urban park, but their security service shows questionable judgment. Is the officer patrolling today enormously inept or grossly bigoted? I spent a few hours to eat brunch and relax today. However, I keep reflecting why the nonwhite security officer selectively enforced rules. I was with an Asian person and we were told we couldn't picnic in a 15x25 dirt area because it was technically a flower bed... though I did not need to step through or over any flowers having used a dirt path to the clearing. I witnessed the same man tell a group of Asians they could not use a pop up chair. Later, he returned to warn they could not drink carbonated beverage out of the glass bottle. I admit wholeheartedly all three are technically rules, but why did security selectively enforce them and ignore the following: (1) more than one person smoking (2) white kids running into flower beds... literally into the flowers (3) a white family eating next to a wagon with large wheels carrying weight that would logically harm the lawn more than a simple wire pop up chair (4) white family eating from glass Pyrex (makes sense as many of us switch from plastic) ... and (5) lack of social distancing as required when those without masks don't care to stay more than six feet from me. If I'm sitting on the lawn, I would pray that someone without a facing covering walk 6-12 feet from me and not uncomfortably close. And you aren't socially distancing if you walk pass someone on a sidewalk if you don't wear a mask. And finally, not today.... but on many other occasions including earlier this week, a group blared music the entire time I had dinner in levy park. I don't care to nitpick levy park security on why after a couple hours loud music is ignored... but if the security staff exercises enforcement of some rules against some people... I do question the fairness or equality involved with a park security officer's motivation to ignore most of the violations I observed today and only bother the two groups with all or half Asians. In other words, if there were at least 8 rules broken and he enforced three... why did he choose to ignore the other five rules today? read more

Mainly to comment on the dog park. Been here a few times and Layton Dog likes it but it is true, not too many dogs. This can be sort of nice at times but Layton Dog does like to play with others. It's a decent size dog park which just has dirt so when it does rains, avoid for a few days. There is a big softball field and adjacent open lot next to it. Picnic benches near the parking lot too. Since the park is in a close location I'm planning to stop by more often just to give Mr. Dog a chance to run. Won't be my primary park though. read more

We absolutely love this dog park. One of the reasons why is that there is no pool. I do like my dog to go in pools when it is clean but most of the pools in the neighboring dog parks are pretty disgusting. I think that this dog park is much cleaner than the other dog parks we have been to.I almost considered living in the apartments behind the park just because my dog loves this place so much. The grass is artificial which I actually like. And there are always poop bags available and clean up crew comes pretty often. There is a large dog section and a small dog section which are both equal in size. There are trees around if it gets too hot. I will say that there just needs to be a little bit more sitting space for the owners. There have also been a few dogs that have been pretty aggressive which I think there should be some sign or a warning about. read more

Very fun park! Great for younger kiddos and absolutely pet friendly. A friend invited us here for a play date one morning and we had so much fun at the splash pad. Parking is limited and we only saw side street parking. It gets really hot in the summer, so sandals or swim shoes are recommended. My kiddo loved the little merry-go-around near the splash pad! Perfect size for toddlers. There are public restrooms and water fountains, plus I saw a food truck nearby. There are so many activities to do here besides the splash pad. There's a community garden, yoga classes, birthday parties going on, play areas, some big blue foam blocks for kids to play with, etc. We will definitely be returning! This is such a great, centralized park for kiddos to have fun and burn energy! Best part is that it's free for all to enjoy!!! Highly recommended! This review is for the dog park only. First of all the small dog park is superrrr small. Little dogs still like to run and play! There's a couple of small artificial grassy hills. Our dogs didn't seem to like that. They didn't move around too much and kept trying to escape. The big dog side was definitely more poppin but I noticed a lot of ruff play that wouldn't be enjoyable for my small dogs so I didn't bring them to that side. We most likely will not return. read more

With fleas, ticks, dirty water, mud, etc that comes with other dog parks, this one let's me take my pup on a day that it's rained or a super hot day because of the water fountains for the pups! It's for a soft gravel with turf for the pups to play in, and people come here and actually watch what their dogs are doing, so you rarely have to worry! The locking mechanism for the doors have been broken for some time and there was a temporary fix. For a dog park, I'd say it's pretty crucial to have a door working properly!
