This is a very nice park in a very nice neighborhood. The kids had so much fun. It is right next to a members only pool. Lots of play stuff for the kids.

Nice park. Lots of stuff for kids 2-5. Public spaces include the basketball court, kids park, and toilets. The pool, tennis courts, and clubhouse are only for Southside residents and guests ONLY!

Driving around looking at real estate I'll never be able to afford is how I first encountered this adorable park. I kept seeing signs in peoples front yard proclaiming "We love fire truck park". What is fire truck park and where is it? We finally saw it and I thought oh what a cute park! The first drive by occasion I'm not sure why we didn't stop to check it out, I think it may have been cold out but I honestly cannot recall... Flash forward a year, I'd totally forgotten where I saw this park. I searched on yelp, not on there. I searched on the city of West University Parks, wasn't on there either. I looked on google maps for a fire truck park and there was no park with such a name. I began to wonder if I had dreamed this place up! Well, it turns out the park is in Southside Place (not West U) and is just as cute as I remember. I was borderline skeptical about going to the park because it was hot outside (95 degrees) and usually I'm not a fan of being outdoors in heat unless I'm next to some sort of body of water. Surprisingly, even in heat the park is enjoyable! There is lots of shade but no water fountain (at least I didn't see one) and the perimeter is completely fenced in. The park is very clean and well maintained with all kinds equipment for kids to play on. The highlight for the smaller kids is the fire truck of course. The neat thing about this section of the park is that it's astroturf and not grass. There is also a geometric shaped climbing wall, a large playground area and this really dangerous circle that kids stand on and spin around on. I say dangerous because there is no railing and kids just balance on it while it spins. In the hour we were at the park I saw several children get hurt on this thing and of course they all wanted to play on it (go figure). This is a great park to visit if you're in the area especially if you have a little toddler who loves fire trucks :) I wish Southside place was my neighborhood and this park was walking distance from my house because I'd totally visit it all the time. Alas, the last time I checked my bank account I don't have a couple mill to drop on house so until I do I'll only be visiting when I have some sort of reason to be in that area of town.

This park uses its space very cleverly. It has a lot of props other parks with playgrounds wouldn't have, and is full of cute little details. When your kids need a break from running and climbing, ask them to count all the pictures of fire trucks they can see (a lot!!!! Start with the picnic tables and benches!) or find the fire hydrants. Too bad it doesn't have a WC though

Our grandson quickly learned how to grab onto this wheel with his hands AND feet! Lots of fun...holds 8 kids at a time!

Love this local park in Bellaire…read more From the Nature Discovery Center to the Texas Birdwatching Trail, there are so many interesting finds along the woodsy walk. The Nature Discovery Center was a favorite when my kids were small. Loved the bunnies, the Wiggles and Squirms classes and summer camps. From being summer campers to junior counselors, they really learned a lot about science and nature. They even hosted a booth about eating healthy for their Girl Scout Silver Award during Pumpkin Patch one sunny October weekend. Love birding? Check out the list of bird sightings. Saw a juvenile yellow crowned night heron recently. In some cultures, this is a symbol of good luck and prosperity. Check out the turtles swimming in the small pond along the boardwalk. The park is free to visit. Parking is available both off Evergreen and Newcastle. Enjoy a walk in the woods in Bellaire.

Their hours during the school year (late August - late May) are Tuesday through Thursday, 10am-noon and 4pm-6pm. The surrounding park is open 7 days a week, 5am-930pm. The park is small but lovely. There are lots of little trails that help isolate you from the road/other visitors. I was impressed at how many benches & picnic tables there were throughout the park. Lots of places to stop and rest. A charming fountain. A few signs to let you know about local flora/fauna. A playground for kids. Even if you visit when the nature center is closed, they do have some outdoor cages with animals. There was a bunny cage although I think he was hiding. Also saw a possum -- Blossom was a cutie. There was also a turtle cage but they weren't there (gone for hibernation, apparently). There was also a large cage with doves. So there are some animals to see whenever you visit. Another major plus -- they have outdoor bathrooms! They are separate from the nature center. I always have to pee so this is a big draw for me. There are two parking lots -- one at the north area (by the nature center) and the other at the south area (by the playground). The parking lots are small but if you come early, it shouldn't be an issue. I'm not sure what the street parking situation is in the area.

This amazing and incredibly detailed bronzed sculpture of the story book tea party was created by a local artist, Bridgette Mongeon, and was installed in the park back in April 2019. This structure has a 10 foot table with benches that invite you to sit for a tea party and take photos with Mad Hatter, Alice, Cheshire Cat and the white rabbit. This sculpture has so much detail from the Lewis Carroll's classic tale that you will find yourself wanting to stay as long as you can to see it. For some examples of the details, there is a bottle that says "drink me" kept in Alice's pocket. You will find a mouse in one of Mad Hatter's pockets. There are two buttons on the back of the white rabbit's jacket that has both tweedle dee and tweedle dum on them. There is also 150 hidden items that this talented local artist decided to put within this sculpture (60 of the 150 items are found under the table). I found a lot of interesting hidden items under the table, which includes the white rabbit's house and Humpty Dumpty. If only I lived nearby, I would come back here. On the day that I came here, it had rained earlier and started to rain again. But I still took photos and sat on a wet bench (which left my pants wet, lol) and wished I had stayed longer to find more of the hidden items. I would definitely come back to this sculpture the next time I am visiting the Houston area.
