Very peaceful and serene, miles and miles of walking trails. They do have food and drink trailers.

Had a fun time here and find the urban wild extremely impressive. There are great views of the prairie, and lots of hiking trail on the bayou wild. You could really get lost in there! I also enjoy the "scramble" style steps going over the tunnel-- allows you to enjoy cool views and walk to the oppposite side of the park with ease. Great place to have an adventure!!

Great place to walk around, have picnics and to exercise! I think the whole run around is about 3 miles. They have a food truck there and the restrooms are actually not too bad for a park. There is also a tennis court. Lots of bench seating around the park and nice view around the park. You can reserve a spot for parties too and there's some water fountains around the park. You can take some great photos here too. They have a playground across the street and a gold course near becks prime. Pet friendly place and clean. Parking can be a challenge depending on time of day you go but there is parking all around the area. Parking isn't free from 5am-9pm Monday-Sunday. There are a few free parking though near the tennis courts or the ones without a paid parking sign.

I love memorial park, come here often to walk/run the various trails and frequent the driving range or the Vibrant cafe. One of my favorite trails and parks in the Houston area, very scenic and easy access as well as plenty parking throughout the park.

Opened in 1924, Memorial Park in Houston is one of the top 100 largest urban parks in the United States, covering 1,466 acres. Even then, it's not even the largest city park in Houston, with both Bear Creek Pioneers (2,168 acres) and George Bush Park (7,800 acres) being larger. Nevertheless, it's one of the biggest city parks I've been to, and was a good place to explore by foot on a Saturday afternoon. Named for the memory of soldiers who lost their lives during World War I, Memorial Park started out as a U.S. Army training camp. After the war, the city of Houston took ownership of the land, redefining it to be a 'memorial' park to be used by the public. In 2016, the operation of the park was transitioned to the private Memorial Park Conservancy. A very large (and busy) road (Memorial Drive) runs through the park, providing a lot of bus stops, thus making the park very accessible via public transit. Plenty of paid parking is available ($2 every 3 hours) and an annual memorial park conservancy membership ($250) provides parking. There is a paved bike and pedestrian path running parallel with the main roads in the park (Memorial and Woodway). I stopped into the Cullen Running Trails Center, a nice air-conditioned modern building with public wi-fi and filtered water station, for a break from the heat. It's close to the Roy H Cullen Timing track (a place for sprinters to train and be viewed) with a modern cushioning synthetic rubber composite. Further down, there is a viewing platform to get all-around views of the memorial park prairie. Areas that I didn't get a chance to visit include the 18-hole golf course, memorial park sports complex (baseball/softball fields, sand volleyball, and a multipurpose field), large picnic park, and mountain biking trails. Memorial Park - Houston ended up being a good place to center my activities via public transit, having connections from the different parts of Houston. The facilities were well maintained, and the large space allowed many citizens to use it at the same time, without anyplace feeling crowded.

I've been coming to this park for years, likely decades; boy has it changed a lot! I remember when it was just the standard park / lap prior to the big drought that occurred 10+ years ago. Fast forward now and this whole park and the conservatory has and/or is doing to re-invent itself has been great. The park of course is anchored by the golf course, tennis courts & center, multi-use field, softball, baseball fields and so forth. The main 3+ mile loop around the park is the Seymore Lieberman Trail for most parts of it remains the same though there are a lot of areas they've added character. A really nice area and touch that they've now added is the Clay Family Easter Glades next to Hines Lake where there are various nice winding trails around and along the lake to walk and run along the glades that I see people enjoy the nice area for play and picnic. A recent add-on along the outer loop area which I remember then hauling in metric tons of dirt is the Kinder Land Bridge where you can cross over the top with the various connecting trails to the Cyvia & Melvin Wolff Prairie. The view of downtown and whole area is splendid once you're at the top of the land bridge. Memorial Park is one of the really nice parks I've been to and many visitors I run into talk about it. I would encourage anyone to know and appreciate the splendor of this nice outdoor venue Houston has to offer.

Memorial Park is a great public and totally free trail. There are multiple Trail options and Loops that range anywhere from to five miles. There's a nice canopy area near the Tennis Center for warm ups and stretches. There's multiple restrooms along the trail and parking spaces. Most are free but there are some that are paid lots until after 9:00 p.m. The park is very pet friendly. The community Vibe is very robust and free-spirited. There's also multiple running clubs that meet in the area in the late afternoon and early evening ranging anywhere from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. the park remains to be moderately busy but very lively and robust. Great way to be outdoors with friends, family, and pets!

Went to Memorial Park for a nice walk. It costs $6.50 for a day to park unless you go on Thursdays. It is very well maintained. There were no poop laying around. There are multiple parking lots. I think it's a nice place to walk, bike (though none were seen today), and run. Most paths were quite wide. There were various activities going on. It's one of the very few places in Houston to just escape from the busy traffic (despite it being surrounded by traffic).

My favorite park in the city. It has a lot of diversity. There's a few trails ranging from less than a mile to 3 miles. Plenty of parking bother free and $2 for 3 hours. Has a playground, golf course, restaurant, workout area, picnic space, gardens, everything you could want from a park!

I love Memorial Park! With such a rich history, this park is beautiful and offers lots of amenities, such as a walking/running exer-trails, picnic groves, exercise area, tennis, golf, dining, swimming pool, playground, baseball and a gorgeous lake area. It is my go-to to get a good workout in or just enjoy nature. With special events put on by Memorial Park throughout the year there's plenty to do and check out.

Memorial Park is an excellent park in Houston! Very well laid out with lots of well maintained trails and walking paths. This park is an example of great use of transforming urban areas into green space. Love the land bridge that they built over an active road, giving you views of traffic below and of the Houston skyline. I do wish some of the walking paths were more shaded. Hiking in the summer can be brutal due to the heat and humidity. But otherwise, fantastic park to come to :)

Perfect place to run! I used to come with my friends and different run clubs when I lived here. It was a great, relatively flat 3 mile loop. I tend to stick with 5k distance, so coming here was a no brainer. I walked my dog a few times too and enjoyed the scenery, the parks, the water fountains, etc. Really nice spot to stay active, hang out, read, or just enjoy being outside for a bit.

Ask the Community - Memorial Park

What's the details for EV charging near the tennis courts? Is this free? If not, who is the provider?

I read 2 places that parking at Memorial Park is free but limited by the mayor. Another place from 2019, I read 2 places have metered parking. Is parking free for the entire park or just most of it?

It's free for most of the park it's really depends on what park of memorial park you are by. And please remember it's over 30 miles of 1 park so that's a lot to consider

Are the soccer goals free to access and does the field have lights on at night?

The soccer fields at Memorial seem free to access. My son played. I don't know about lights at night. Does anyone know about pick up games maybe for kids/adults/families?… Read more

    Is there bbq pits?

    No.

Is It Secluded Or Just Not Lots Of People, Or Does It Be Lots Of People There?

It's never been so packed to be honest

Does anybody know if you have to pay for parking.. if so how much is parking and they allow card?

Parking is free at memorial Park...not 100% sure if it's all of it. FYI, the mayor is limiting parking at Houston parks this weekend so it might be better to just ride or wall there

    Where's the skate park?

No where near Memorial Park. That's more closer to the Bayou.

What can you tell me about the baseball fields? Bleachers? Covered or uncovered?

    Uncovered.

    Are their grills? Where?

    no.

Is there a bike trail here?

Yes! Picnic loop is a 1-mile closed road for biking, and there are mountain biking trials as well. You can also bike around the park on the roads, if that's something you're interested in doing.

    Is there area for dogs?

    Yes.

Can I bring a piñata to the park for a birthday...or at least by the Vale Asch Foundation Playground?

    Yes you can.

Is their light for people playing soccer or any other sport?

    yes

Do they have any area with outlet?

    Yeah!

    How is the fishing?

    No one fishes there.

Is there an area to play flag football here? If so how are the fields?

There is actually open fields near the running and park area. Set up your own boundaries. And it's always first come first serve.

    Are there volleyball courts here?

There are poles to pitch it up.

    Is parking free?

As of August 2019 not all parking is free. The parking in front of Smoothie King and Tennis Courts is now metered. Make sure you pay, they are pretty strict about it. I see cars get booted every time I come and run.

Where are the stairs located? I need to run them a few times. THANKS!

There are stairs if you head west on Memorial Dr past the W Memorial Loop intersection. They seem to lead to the bike trail, near the train overpass. It's not like stadium stairs, but you can still get your stair fix here.

Here and there, I spotted a delicate cherry blossom and a few early blooms, though I wish I had visited at the peak of flower season. The garden itself is exquisitely designed and every corner seems crafted for peace, and I truly enjoyed the calm atmosphere. It felt like a small escape from the city hustle. That said, I did notice the cleanliness was a bit of an issue; the garden could definitely use some extra care to keep it pristine. Another small drawback was the restroom situation. There are only two available, and both were quite busy, so I ended up waiting a while and eventually decided it wasn't worth it.
