I stude over whether to post this for awhile

Do you prefer your dinner boiled or Stude? I stude over whether to write this review for awhile but now it's time. This is an absolutely wonderful park located in the Heights neighbourhood. It's right next to I-10 and you get beautiful views of downtown and the surrounding areas. Barbie is a big fan and has been coming here since she was a little girl. I'm a big fan too. During Corona we used this Park to exercise on a number of occasions and each time we really enjoyed it.

Love this park. You can just about always find a place to park. You can play some ball, run, walk or bike the trails. You can bike the trails all the way to memorial park and back. The scenery is awesome and makes for some great photo opportunity with the city in the background. Family friendly and dog friendly as well.

I like this piece of green space. It has two baseball fields next door to the actual park. The park is currently under construction so there's some areas taped off and accumulating water but once it's done I can see how nice it will become. There is a playground in the middle for kids to climb on, swings on the side, but my favorite was the big red statue! Also it looks like there is a brand new jogging trail that is marked off from 1/4, 1/2, and 1 mile loop in different colored arrows.

I love this park! When I was a kid, I used to ride my bike around the park and try to climb up the red metal structure. I'd also come here to enjoy the fireworks on the fourth of July. Now I love to come here and run around the awesome trail. Lots of people run here, too. There are lots of 5k races that take place here. I really love the new trail. Running along the bayou can get a bit stinky on some parts of the trail, but I don't care. I like to watch the fish jumping in the water. I like spotting the turtles along the water; some wander all the way up onto the grass. One time I even saw what looked like a whole family of turtles next to the bayou. A few times, I've even seen little rabbits hopping around in the downtown end of the park. The view of downtown is really pretty. I like to make a long loop around the park, from the Studewood end all the way to the UHD bridge and back, which is about 4.5 miles. And you can always customize your workout to make it as long or as short as you want. In front of the community center, there's a bike rental station. I'm not much of a bike rider anymore, but I've seen lots of people riding the rental bikes or their own bikes. There's a couple of baseball diamonds. At the community center, they have fitness classes. I've also seen one trainer with his group of people exercising outside near the center. Next to the center, there's a playground for little kids. This is a great park to do whatever you want because it's so big. You can even just sit on a bench and enjoy the great views.

This is a hidden gem. When I went it wasn't crowded, but it was overrun with sunflowers and other wildflowers. Great views of downtown. So peaceful and beautiful! I will be back for sure.

This photo doesn't do it justice at all. You can't possibly capture the essence of the experience on a camera phone.

I love coming to this particular spot. Whenever I need to get away from my area of the city, I come here. It's a very chill spot with a couple of things to do. You can come and bike if you have a bike. Even if you do not own a bike there's a place here where you can rent a bike out, with a credit/debit card. The scenery here is amazing. You have a good view of downtown and it looks amazing. The neighborhood around is decent as well. During Christmas everyone around decorates their homes and it looks awesome! Best time to come, in my opinion, is during the winter.

Decent parking and a lot more busy than it used to be now that it's connected to the trail. Good spot to hang your hammock.

Plus, it doesn't cut through any roads (so no stopping at traffic lights or fear of getting hit by a car) AND bikes are not allowed!! This makes it the perfect place for runners to get lost in their thoughts while getting 3 miles in - at least, that's what I like to do. Haha! Recently, they did a bunch of restoration work and have opened up a cute little pond area along with more trails to explore. These are great for walking and getting to enjoy nature without having to leave the city. Additionally, they've added a LOT more parking which is nice, however it's not free. Even the old lot that I always used to park at (the parking lot located in front of the outdoor pool) now requires you to pay. To avoid this, you can park at the lot next to the baseball fields (what I usually do), but it's almost always full. You can also park at the church behind the fields, just as long as they're not having a service at that time. The tennis courts also have some parking, but that's also usually full. If you're brave enough, you can try to parallel park on some of the streets that go through the park.... But I find that to be pretty risky with all the constant movement occurring everywhere. If you're looking to enjoy some nature without having to drive super far, definitely consider coming out here! Bring some friends, a picnic or go for a walk/run. There's something for everyone here!

In a city that is known for tearing down and paving over so much of our history, it is wonderful that this was saved and has been made into a place that visitors can visit and experience. I went with some friends from Kingwood on a Photo Walk of the area, we were lucky that the light and sound experience was still going on, each column in the cistern has LED lighting that changes to the tune of some aethereal music playing silently, the acoustics of the cistern make it sound so beautiful and mesmerizing. When you purchase your ticket online you choose one of the available times, upon entry they give you 30 minutes, the time passed quickly. Be ready if you are taking pictures or better yet, a video. Smart phones work great but you might consider turning off auto focus and just focusing manually if you know how because when it gets dark for a moment and then the lights come on most cameras auto focus has to search for focus so it goes in and out of focus. When you leave, there is a skateboard park up above and worth some time for taking pictures of the acrobatic skating going on.

Here and there, I spotted a delicate cherry blossom and a few early blooms, though I wish I had visited at the peak of flower season. The garden itself is exquisitely designed and every corner seems crafted for peace, and I truly enjoyed the calm atmosphere. It felt like a small escape from the city hustle. That said, I did notice the cleanliness was a bit of an issue; the garden could definitely use some extra care to keep it pristine. Another small drawback was the restroom situation. There are only two available, and both were quite busy, so I ended up waiting a while and eventually decided it wasn't worth it. Still, the park draws a lovely crowd with people come to stroll, reflect, and soak in the beauty. If I'm in Houston again at a better time, I'll absolutely return to see the garden in full bloom. It has so much potential, and with a little more attention to detail, it could be a true hidden gem.
