Three things this park does that suits houstonians well: 1. Disc golf stations 2. Dog friendly 3. White Oak Bayou Trail You might see trash flying or lying around this park and the pool looks like someone might've drowned in it. Never seen anyone use the pool before (weird). Also no portable or working restrooms nearby as one reviewer pointed out. Such a shame. Since the White Oak trail is next to my home, I find myself jogging/running through here a few times. As much as I like the view at times, this park leaves more to be desired. A lower rating would be in store but the disc golfing and dog friendly environment make up for it. read more

The only thing to be careful of are stray dogs, animal droppings, the occasionally sleeping homeless person, bikers, mopeds, electric scooters, wood cruisers, early morning maintenance trucks, and crossing the street. Otherwise it's got a pleasant trail with some historically cultural values and pleasant sights such as pretty wildflowers and educational signs with art and poetry on them. read more

I enjoy playing disc golf at this park. It's popular in the weekends and parking will be tight. The course is well maintained. One of my favorite whole has you throw over the bayou! Don't get butt hurt if you lose a disc on this whole. You may just find another as you continue to play. The course has benches throughout and shade along the way. After the front 10 the shaded spots are fewer. It's a great meeting spot for the group I play with. read more

I've have been coming to this park for many years for biking, running and walking. Great trail for biking it connects to other trails. I biked here the other day for an hour with a friend from elementary. We had a great time. They also have a really nice dog park if you have a dog. Lots of parking but it does get packed so be prepared. It's one of my favorite parts to bike because you can bike as long as you want. Pretty good views and very relaxing. This Park does have some dark history. Back in the 90s two girls were murdered by some gang. Here about five years ago a guy that I went to high school with murdered his wife in the parking lot. Not sure why This part was the choice for the people to commit these murders but you should know that this happened. I would also be very careful at night just because of the history. With all that being said this is still one of my favorite parks I will continue to visit it is very relaxing. read more

I went to this park this morning for the 38th Annual K-9 Fun Run & Walk. It was to raise money for the Houston Humane Society. I can't think a better cause. So many dogs are in need of home, medicine attention & love. I was invited by one of my yelp friends. I was in heaven-- so many dogs! I wanted to pet them all. (And I tried too) The turn out was wonderful. The weather could not have been more perfect for this event. Sunny, nice breeze. The park has a nice track to walk around and the park looked well maintained. All and all --- great company, great park, great charity, and love all the dogs!!!! I hope they raised a ton of money for all these animals in need. read more

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed by this park. With all the gyms being shut down due to Rona, I've been a bike riding fool and have been on pretty much every bike path that I can physically get to with the said bike. The thing about bike riding, jogging, or walking is that you really become close and personal with your surroundings so you can't help but contrast between the haves and the not-haves. If you start the path from Stude Park, you have a well kept and large park, portable bathrooms, and water. If you start from the heights/ MKT trail and go up the path and merge into the White Oak Bayou Hike and Bike trail and go up, you'll see nice landscapes, bike stops with pumps, and when you get to 11th street, you'll see a nice little stop with water fountains, yuppies, etc. The higher up you go however you'll start seeing the nice things disappear- no more water fountains. No more air pumping stations, no more wild flowers, the grass being a little more unkept and when you get to TC Jester Park, you don't see the nice playground, just a big patch of grass with a few swings and ironically, there are a lot more people there too but even though it's the same city, the more expensive part of town gets the nicer things, but I digress. read more

I like this park because it accesses lots of neighborhoods via paved trails for bikes and foot traffic. You can connect to trails that get you to Little York/Antone and the other direction you can connect to trails getting you downtown. We had a picnic here today with friends. People park on TC Jester for the park (between 610 and 43rd). Also available: dog park, pool area, sports fields and playgrounds. Lots of trees, access to bayou, green grass. Enjoy it before the heat gets crazy in Houston! :) read more

White Oak Bayou lots of green space a frisbee golf course, skateboard ramps, a pool and bike trails. It is well maintained. More parking and less of a crowd than, Buffalo Bayou, Memorial Park, and Herman Park. I come here frequently as I live within walking distance. I walk an 80# Pitbull and never have any problems. All these activities coexist easily there are restaurants close by. read more

The people seemed friendly, but I got bit by someone's pit after they had leashed him and I was trying to guide my dog away from them. No apology. No check in. They just left after what happened. I was bleeding lol.... Its a small injury and rather than press charges and someone lose their dog I'll deal with it, but they handled that horribly and had it been my dog biting them I feel like things would've been different. read more

Upon moving into the neighborhood, I'm constantly exploring new and exciting places to visit. Because I am training for a triathlon again and a half marathon, I am seeking places to swim, bike, and run. This place has it all plus much, much more. I've cycled to and along this trail. It goes north for about 4 miles ish? And south for about another 4 or so once the construction is done. Which is perfect for a good job and if you loop back and forth enough to get the heart pumping on the bike. But in the back they have a PUBLIC pool. What does that mean? It's completely free, regardless of where you live. Think of it as your neighborhood pool, for everyone. It's actually really well maintained and not too crowded. Rules are just have swimming trunks and showering before entering the pool. They have an Olympic lap lane so great training. Within this park you'll find an amazing Disk golf course, a dog park, and baseball fields. read more

Found this park through a search for frisbee golf courses. The course is spread throughout the park and offers a variety of challenges. It's a good place to watch pro-like players launching their discs straight across the bayou. I'm definitely not ready for that yet. In addition there's a public pool, baseball field, playground, and a dog park! It basically has everything you'd ever need or want in a park. I find it as a great place to spend an afternoon in. Review for TCJ Dog Park (a part of the greenway) TC Jester is actually my favorite park. I was going to Danny Jackson and when I tried TCJ I noticed that my dogs liked it a lot more. First, there's a lot more shade due to mature trees in the area. Also, the ground cover is mulch which provides stimulation. The area has more squirrels and birds which my dogs love to chase. There are shaded areas with benches. The people at the park are mostly from the local neighborhood which does give the group of regulars a different flavor than the folks at Danny Jackson. Is this place blowing up or what?! They recently completed the pool makeover. Gone are the diving platforms, which have been replaced by 2 slides. They also redid the perimeter of the pool. It now has table and chairs and loungers. Thankfully they kept the 16 foot deep end. The bike and jogging trails are top-notch and eventually lead all the way to downtown. A dog park was added a couple of years ago. The Frisbee golf course has been here for over ten years. A skate park was a added a few years back. There is also a full size baseball field. It's a great park with no shortage of space or things to do. read more

TC Jester isn't a park that makes you want to extol virtues. A thin, green slice that snakes in between the bayou and TC Jester, it's easy to take a narrow look at this long gem. Taken individually the sum of this park's part don't inspire effusive praise. But that's when it hits you that there aren't many parks this close to Houston that have this embarrassment of riches: Two paved paths running along improved bayou Large pool w/ diving platforms Baseball Field Dog park Frisbee Golf Course Parking lot Easy access to 610 North Nearby skate park The crowds are mainly the neighbors of Oak Forest and the surrounding communities, making the paths more open than many popular destinations in town. The new dog park is also large with ample benches, if not a little....well, boring. Positives include separate parts for larger dogs and their half/rodent brethren, as well as hoses. If you want a recommendation on how to spend a great day outside, hit the path @ 11th and White Oak Bayou and head north. You'll wind for miles and miles along the bayou until you pass 34th where the park begins until just south of Pinemont. For your troubles there's some kickass BBQ at the end of the line over at Pierson's. read more

Love the fact that there is two different fenced dog parks, one for dogs under 25 pounds and a second for all the bigger dogs... which makes me feel a little safer about bringing my little 10 pounder out to play. Make sure you bring a towel with you as this place gets a little muddy by the end of the day regardless of the weather. Dog parents wash down their mutts at the end of play or empty out the wading pools right onto the dirt by the gate resulting in muddy fun for all. It gets pretty busy after 5pm on weekends and after 10am on weekends and it always seems that the big dog park is a little bit more crowded and overly rambunctious than the little dog park... I've also noticed that not all dog parents do the right thing and remove their dog when (s)he becomes overstimulated or cranky so keep an eye on your pup just in case someone is visiting that day who isn't quite as responsible as they should be. A great option for tiring out your pooch just outside the loop. read more

Now that I am graduated and pretty much have nothing to do with my time, I'm glad I have Mochi to fill up the empty time. She's loving an unbusy mommy that can play with her all the time. Her usual days this past semester was sitting in her crate in 1 to 2 hour intervals throughout the day or worse, 5 to 6 hours straight (darn you TTH classes) whenever I had class. I always imagined her sitting there singing Akon.... "locked up and won't let me out." Now that we are spending so much time together, I've caught her doing some naughty things. Some things I learned about her is that she enjoys humping a large stuffed Eeyore. In between being shocked that my spayed female dog is humping a stuffed animal and laughing, I looked online to find that she is merely trying to dominate the doll. Time for a day at the park, Mochi! TC Jester park is the closest one to my parent's house. I had to travel a little further than I was use to in Austin for a dog park but it was worth the drive. It's a nice off-leash, fenced dog park. There is a side for dogs 25lbs and under. There are poopie bags provided at the park. There's a lot of trees around for shade and benches to sit on. The park has a lot going on, there's a playground right across for the dog area and some fields. In between throwing Mochi's tiny ball, I would watch kids run around the playground. Luckily Mochi has some manners and knew the difference between other dogs and a stuffed Eeyore. I wouldn't know how to explain her humpage. read more

This review is for the TC Jester dog park, I haven't been to the other areas. I bring my two dogs to the dog park here every now and then, and we all enjoy the place. The dog park is a good size, so even when there are lots of dogs and people it never feels over crowded. They don't have a pond or the "trimmings" that some of the other Houston area dog parks have, but my babies love chasing balls and running around with other dogs the most, and knowing that they won't be sopping wet and muddy after a trip is a plus. There is lots of shade, and a few benches spread around the edges and in between the trees, so if you want to sit comfortable in the shade there's a good change you'll have a seat. The area underneath the trees doesn't have a lot of grass growing, so if it's rained recently the place is terribly muddy. There's normally not too many dogs and people at the park, at least not when we go, and since the park is in a neighborhood there do tend to be more families (meaning children) in the dog park than other parks. That can be troublesome, when there's a family with three kids ages 3-10 and two dogs, as the parents are either watching their dogs and not the kids, or the kids and not the dogs. I personally hate having any children in dog parks, as my dogs get over excited and can be jumpy, which then causing the kids to be startled and cry, making my dogs more excited. Dog parks are for dogs to play, not children to come play with strange dogs. We've also encountered some fully-entact (and aggressive) male dogs here, with owners that don't seem to care that their dogs are mounting other dogs constantly. This has caused some problems and fights between the offending dog and my dogs, which is one of the reasons why we don't come here as often anymore. Overall, it's a nice little dog park that meets our needs when we don't want to drive to Millie Bush or Danny Jackson dog park. read more

This wealth of a park has more to offer than trees, a 21 hole disc golf course and a winding bike trail along White Oak Bayou. It offers bliss during springtime when the lush fields of green bloom the prettiest buds in the area. The solace it provides the mind as one jogs the trail or rides along the bayou is peaceful. Human people are welcome just as much as dogs and other animals as long as their poop is scooped. I've done it all at TC Jester Park. As a kid, my old man would take my brothers and me to swim here on the hottest days of the year. When one of my brothers moved in the Heights we'd run and ride bikes around here. Nowadays i've picked up disc golf and this is an adventurous course to say the least. Even sometimes i've come to train here and have ran up the slope beneath the bridge. This hill has eyes, it'll see you burnout and plea for mercy when your legs, buns and mind has been dragged to its limit. Although i live on the opposite end of Hwy 290, as much as i can, i frequent the beauty of TC Jester Park. read more

I stopped in on Sunday to let my pup stretch her legs after a long day of languishing away on my couch. The dog park was mostly sand with a mud puddle off to the side that my baby uncermoniously plopped into after five minutes of running about. There were two poop bag stations situated at strange points in the small enclosure. The hose in the large dog section spewed as much water out the sides at the connection as it did through the end. That being said, the park hosted many friendly dogs that were well-behaved and my girl had fun running around and chasing the one squirrel that she spotted high up in the treetops. I think the squirrel was the highlight of her week. read more

TC Jester Park and the trails have recently been expanded and gaining in popularity. The bike and running trails are well maintained and generally free of large roots and tripping hazards. The trails do run along the bayou, so they are not very shaded. Head to Memorial Park for a shaded run/ride. The pool is large and it's free to use, which is awesome. We have a private pool in our townhome community so I've never swam here, but this pool is a great feature for all the homes in the area . The dog park is why we mainly visit. It's large enough to get puppy energy out and small enough that you'll start to see familiar faces and snouts. As opposed to larger parks, this community style dog atmosphere is nice because my dog remembers dogs that she has previously met, so she doesn't have to do the sniffing-licking-alpha-dog-dance and can get straight to playing. It can get quite muddy after a rain, and closed toed shoes are always a good idea no matter the weather. There are kiddie pools that can be used for a quick doggy shower if Fido gets too dirty to take home. There are a handful of geocaches in the less trafficked areas of the park that make for fun and fairly quick finds. Outdoor fitness classes and bootcamp by HitFit (http://www.yelp.com/biz/hit-fit-houston) held in this park, and I'll be attending this fall. EEK! read more

I can see this park from my front porch, so it is my go to park. There are 2 trails, one cement and one gravel, for your exercise pleasure. The dual dog parks (one for large and one for small) are decent size. There is not a lot of ground cover, so it can get dusty dirty, especially on a windy day. They've recently added another 9 to the frisbee golf course, and it seems packed all the time. We lost of ton of trees from the drought last summer, but the park is still a great getaway in the middle of the city. read more

My review is ONLY for the disc golf course, but for the record, the rest of the park looks great too...nice and clean, and pretty well kept. Yesterday was my first experience with T. C. Jester Park and I have to say it was a pretty good one. A buddy and I went over to play some disc golf and enjoy the beautiful weather. For about 3pm on a Saturday, it wasn't quite as busy as I'd feared it might be, but there were definitely a lot of people there. The park is a narrow but very long park between two big roads and it has trails sort of winding through the length of the park. For disc golf, this is sort of unnerving unless you feel pretty comfortable with your skills. Many of the holes are directly against the road with traffic coming towards you, and on the other side you have the walking/biking trail with lots of people on it. We didn't have any issues with it, but I could see how it might be intimidating or dangerous for a new player. The park itself was very clean, and with few exceptions, the people there seemed really laid back and cool. My only suggestions are that if you're going for disc golf, you might try to go during an off time, especially if you're a slow, inexperienced, or shy player. Otherwise, it's a great short 9-hole affair, and one I'll definitely return to. read more

I like the location of the dog park (I live in Timbergrove) and it's a decent size - bigger than a dog run, but smaller than the other dog parks in the city. Most dog owners who want to avoid bathing their dog usually avoid dog parks with a pond because it's inevitable that you will leave the park with a muddy dog. My dog's shiny white coat is usually matted with a mud/funky blue water paste (she's a bulldog so even though she doesn't swim, the other dogs she plays with get her dirty). While TC Jester would seem like the perfect solution, I discovered that there's another challenge to face: LOOSE DIRT. The ground is hard, but not cement, and is covered in a thick layer of fine "sandy" dirt. One roll in it and my dog looked like she took a dip in the vacuum filter and then wrestled with the dust pan. I don't even recall grass although I stuck by one end of the park. I also don't recall a bathing station so keep in mind if you're trying to keep your car clean (or bring a towel and a brush). It seems like everybody is responsible about picking up after their dog so no qualms there. Bags are available (outside the gate along with the trash). Friendly dog owners and sociable dogs. If it's your first time, the place might be hard to find depending on which side you're coming from. It's just off of the main kids playground area. Park in the parking lot or along the street. I'll come here for a change of scenery, but I MUCH prefer parks/runs covered in weather-resistant mulch (which is why I frequent Boneyard!) read more

This park is great for disk golf and humans. This shouldn't even have a dog park. It's disgusting. It's dirty and nothing but mud and dirt. It's not taken care of. My dogs is miserable every time I bring her here. I drive to the Johnny Steele park off Allen parkway. She loves it. There's so many dogs and she swims the whole time. There's grass and mulch. I moved here back in March. I hadn't fully used this park until recently. And wow. I love it. There's a dirt jogging trial that's about 1 mile long, which is perfect for a quick 3 miler. There's a frisbee golf course I still want to try. A dog park, if I ever get a dog. And a pool and playground for the kiddos. And then there's my favorite: The White Oak Bayou Trail. TC jester is my connection to that trail, and I love it. It's an almost unbroken trail that will take you all the way to Beltway 8 on the South side of Houston. Through downtown, the zoo, buffalo bayou park, the Heights, by UH. The list goes on. This will probably be my new exercise spot. Hope to see you there =]. read more

Two separate areas of the dog park: big dogs and under 25 pounds. Usually not too many big dogs in the big dog area, but super spacious, lots of shade, water area, and benches. Locals are pretty friendly, and gives dogs a nice size space to run off their energy. read more

Beware a little short black mutt with a small white chest marking named John, wasn't really concerned when he attacked my pup, since mine usually over exaggerates and other male dogs sense his passive behavior and assert dominance but we got home for bath time and there was a gash on his face and a gash on his rump. Not deep enough to be worrisome, but home girl, if you read this respect the "one strike you're out" policy of dog parks. Your dog bites another dog even once, you get to leave. Also who names their dog "John". Otherwise, I like this park because it's conveniently close to my house. Complaints include rarely keeping potty bags stocked (so bring your own) and the large lack of grass on the inside. Mostly dust, sans the small back pooping corner where nearly everybody poops. There's a plastic kiddie pool and buckets to drink out of, with an accessible hose! Not a total loss. read more
