Remodeled dog park after a thunderstorm
    Barbie B.

This park is kinda small, but there's different parts to it. The dog park just got remodeled. Before, it was covered in mulch and would get very muddy at the slightest hint of rain. Just a couple of weeks ago, they finished a major overhaul, and the mulch is all gone! It's now gravel or something. No more muddy rain puddles! This was put to the test just last week when it rained 4 days in a row. The next day, I saw dry happy dogs running around the park. Even when there was a thunderstorm in the morning, by the evening, there was one slight puddle, and no mud at all. I'm sure that all of the people that bring their dogs here are very happy about the upgraded doggy park. (I don't bring my dog here because she's 13 and not friendly lol) There's a water fountain area, which looks like fun for the kids when it's hot and sunny out (which is most of the time!). There's a playground for smaller kids. There are some picnic tables for sitting outside. I've seen a couple of birthday parties taking place here. There's a small basketball court with one basket. There's a really nice baseball diamond, which just seems like a waste to me. I know of another nice baseball diamond less than two miles away. For months and months, this diamond is not used, even though it's kept pretty well and nicely lit. But in just the last few weeks, it's been getting used in the evenings. Finally! Why do we need so many baseball diamonds? I find it super annoying when people watching the game take up all of the sidewalk area beside the field. There are bleachers for you to sit on, and I've never seen them full... I like to run around the baseball diamond to add as much distance as possible to my runs, but if there's a game going on, I can't. Right next to the baseball diamond is a small soccer-playing area with goal posts. This gets used ALL the time! It's too bad that it's not as well kept as the baseball diamond. It gets really muddy after rain. I see people playing soccer here all year round. Why don't they make the soccer area nicer? So even though this park is not that big, it gets a lot of use (except for the baseball diamond, which gets neglected for months at a time). Sometimes you'll see a guy selling frozen treats here in his little cart. I've also seen a food truck here after some baseball games. I can't give this place the full 5 stars because even though they fixed the doggy park, the rest of the park has some post-rain issues. Running through here gets difficult because of all the water. But overall, this is a great park!

Leave it to Zane to find the one mud puddle and make it his... own.
    Rachel M.

Let's go with 3.5. I took my pup Zane here for his first dog park experience. It has been a little rainy lately, but the park was mostly dry. Still leave it to my boy to find and go crazy in the line muddy spot. I do wish it was separated into big and small dog sections, but it's a good size with bowls, toys, and a water station. Plus, it's close to home. We'll definitely be back.

Update. This park has gone down hill in the past few years. Seems like it's always flooded or in various states of disrepair.

This is just the dog park, which is a small portion of the whole park. The ball fields are separate and so is the playground/spray park.

(Yes made that word up) However, only concern I have is the doggy park literally connects by a few distance of the actual kiddos area..

For $9, your pup can have a specialty "puptail" of their choice: The Hawaiian Pawty Punch (antioxidants + almond milk), Doggy on the Beach (savory broth + carrots & peas) or the Mutt Mai Tai (tropical fruits + coconut milk). For a dollar less, you can also order a canned Good Boy Dog Beer. For humans, they serve canned and bottled beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We ordered the Doggy on the Beach for our two pups, but after a few sips, they weren't too content with their order. They typically love savory, but this special blend was bland. Though intentions are well, the dog bar could offer a lot more. For one) parking-- there is none, as their lot is used for their patio. Two) They do not sell food for the pups, but they have the potential to expand their menu 3) Due to the limited space, they do not offer indoor seating, and the outdoor seating they do have are three frugal ables with a few seats.

Nah, this ain't it…read more My deep gratitude to the city for curating experiences with dog owners which includes thoughtfully creating a separation between large and small dogs. This is a fairly accessible dog park, and with plentiful dedicated parking, which is really appreciated. Unfortunately, the park smells quite bad (probably because it is well trafficked), but there are also places (at least on the small side) where owners have not picked up after their pups, which adds to the sense the place is not sanitary. The pond is a nice touch, but as above, I worried about the cleanliness of the water. I am so glad the city curates spaces like this, but there are much nicer spaces in the city to take your pup!

In a city that is known for tearing down and paving over so much of our history, it is wonderful that this was saved and has been made into a place that visitors can visit and experience. I went with some friends from Kingwood on a Photo Walk of the area, we were lucky that the light and sound experience was still going on, each column in the cistern has LED lighting that changes to the tune of some aethereal music playing silently, the acoustics of the cistern make it sound so beautiful and mesmerizing. Smart phones work great but you might consider turning off auto focus and just focusing manually if you know how because when it gets dark for a moment and then the lights come on most cameras auto focus has to search for focus so it goes in and out of focus. When you leave, there is a skateboard park up above and worth some time for taking pictures of the acrobatic skating going on.

This park is fabulous regardless of if your fur baby is this active, or prefers to relax on a bench undisturbed (although a division for the two play styles is the only thing I'd suggest adding). As others have mentioned, the dog beach, shaded benches, dog runs, trail, doggy showers, and overall cleanliness of the park are impressive. Additionally most dog parents are as trained as their pups, remaining attentive, and polite. Just be sure to watch the water if your pup is overconfident in their swimming abilities.
