Park is closed due to COVID, but people climbed the fence so they can still play

Cute neighborhood park with tennis courts, a playground, baseball field and walking trails. Small parking lot on Sugarhill. Fenced dog park. Don't forget to scoop the poop.

Clean and well maintained. Separated children's play and dog park areas, small track and baseball field. Great neighborhood park

For a neighborhood park, I think Tanglewood Park is great! I love this park bc mostly it's only a 5 min walk from my place, and there's a lot of green field for my border collie to run around! Driving past the park, you'd never know how much space is behind those tennis courts! They recently renovated the parking lot, gated dog park, and also added a stand for doggy bags. The park includes all of the following: -2 tennis courts (i do see ppl regularly playing a lot and others waiting- fyi) -gated children's playground -gazebo -gated dog park w/ gazebo -baseball field area -sidewalk track around the field for walking/running -grassy field area I'm here every afternoon with my dog, and I love seeing how many people are out enjoying themselves instead of inside watching tv! #didyaknow I've heard from multiple ppl at the park that Barbara Bush and her secret service come out to this park! I'm assuming she goes during the weekday when most ppl are at work bc I have yet to spot her!

Shaded with enormous trees, Tanglewood Bark Park is an off leash dog park located on the corner of Bering @ Woodway. The park isn't new, but the dog area is. There's Plenty of room to run (1/4 acre) and a picnic table. This park is BYOB (Bring your own bags). They have a one size fits all double gated enclosure instead of having separate areas for large and small dogs. I had to scoop my gal up a few times because she looked a little overwhelmed when 3-4 biggies were sniffing her from all directions. They don't have a pond or fountain, and truthfully, if they had one it would look out of place. Not to mention, there's isn't a wash down area- so, I don't think anyone (except dogs) miss having a pond here. If my little pup is going to get dirty, I like to be able to bathe her on the way out. Parking is a limited. I was able to find a place along the street (Bering). I won't give a free area or service a bad rating because I'm glad just to have the option. This isn't my favorite dog park out there, but it's nice to have & fits the area perfectly especially because there are a lot of apartments & condos in the area. I doubt I will revisit only because I can just as easily head south to Danny Jackson Dog Park, north to the bark park on TC Jester, or just visit one of the many parks in the Montrose/Heights area... although these aren't exactly dog parks- they are closer to home. You might want to bring: A fold up chair, bug spray, dog bowl, bottled water, & your 'lil plastic bags. Have fun out there.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this park! It's well lit, yet shaded with trees, and safe with the fire department across the way, small but has so much going on for everyone! (1) Gated kids playground (2) Gated dog playground (3) Tennis court (4) Baseball/Kickball field (5) Track for exercising (6) Picnic tables (7) Gazebos There isn't much parking in the parking lot but there's plenty of street parking. The track is small but for me I don't mind because it's safe and it's nice to see the kids and dogs play as you make your rounds. And if you're lucky, you might see Barbara Bush with her agent and her adorable dogs exercising. As old as she is she's still exercising in her walker and cleaning up after her dogs!! How adorable is that? High five to Barbara Bush!! Highly recommend this park if you live in the area -

No one is around! Usually it's busy!

Ok, so let me begin by saying that although this is a dog park, it's also a relaxing park to do some walking. I don't have a dog, but love this park because it contains a tennis court, kids playground and baseball field! Also the walking trail is .20 mile and you really don't feel it, before you know it.. You she walked over a mile. The location is perfect, about 10 minutes from my house and the scenery is so relaxing. I love to come here after a long day at work, and watching all the cute dogs that come and play.

Not-too-large, fenced-in dog park next to a baseball field, tennis court, and a kids playground. I come here quite often because it's convenient to my house. It's also nice to have Barnaby's cafe nearby where you can eat on the patio and your dog is given water and a treat. Parking is mostly on the street, but there is always a space. This park was great for my dog when he was younger. It's not too big that I have to chase him around when he wanders off. I can keep an eye on him wherever he is in the park. I don't think I have seen more that 10 dogs here at one time, which is probably good for dog park newbies. The dog park is on a slight hill, so a large mud puddle accumulates after it rains. There are patches of dirt everywhere from where the dogs have worn down the grass. There's no dog wash here, so beware. There is a nice gazebo for shade and a few picnic tables and benches scattered around. Most people sit under the gazebo and chat with the other owners. There is a box there where plastic bags are kept for doo-doo duty. The dispensers outside are usually empty. The owners here are quite attentive to their dogs. Only once did I see an owner who should have been more attentive about getting his dog to stop bullying another dog. No problems have ever occurred though. My dog loves playing here and always has a great time. He gets quite worn out and takes a nap when we get home.

    All black lab mixes!

I like this park because there are usually just a few dogs there and all the owners are very watchful. Generally it's pretty clean and there's a covered pavilion with benches offering shade. There are lots of toys laying around and many water bowls too. It's not large in size, but is just big enough for an apartment dog to get out and run!

Seems like a good park but my little 12lb foster pup got out from under the fence. So I'll never be going there again!

The Michael Jackson playlist serenading us from the Gaspacho's eatery was nostalgic. Even though the Sunset Bingo MC was difficult to hear while seated on the grass, the staff were more than willing to rearrange some tables to accommodate the growing crowd. On my way to the (super clean!) restroom I I saw that they had a reading room, which made me instantly fall in love! They also have an arts & craft station with materials free to use. There were many families with young kids enjoying the water playground areas. The fact that they have family reservations available lets me know that this park is well aware of its draw and appeal. Birthdays? reunions? book a spot! The nearby restaurants and easy parking are major pluses. Levy Park has a packed calendar of events so I'm bound to be back before the summer ends.

I've spent countless hours here running and riding my bike. Some days it's a quick evening jog, other days it's a long ride from Eleanor Tinsley Park toward Memorial Park or connecting through the trails to the University of Houston. No matter how many times I come back, it never gets old. The park has been the backdrop for so many of my favorite Houston memories. I came here for Free Press Summer Fest back in the day, Freedom Over Texas fireworks, the Art Car Parade, Pride celebrations, marathons, half marathons, 5Ks, and even the Texas Independence Relay. It's one of those places that feels completely different depending on the day. Sometimes it's quiet and peaceful, and other times it's filled with thousands of people celebrating everything that makes Houston unique. It also reminds me of some of the city's hardest moments. I'll never forget walking down after Hurricane Harvey and seeing the bayou swollen all the way up to Allen Parkway. It was hard to comprehend just how much water had moved through here. Seeing the park recover over time has been a reminder of Houston's resilience. One of my favorite discoveries has been the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. It's such a unique experience and a reminder that there's always something new to explore, even after years of visiting the park. What I love most is how connected everything feels. The trails weave through the city with incredible downtown views, public art, green spaces, bridges, and plenty of places to stop and take it all in. Whether you're training for a race, out for a casual walk, riding your bike, or just enjoying the skyline, there's a reason people keep coming back. Buffalo Bayou Park isn't just another park to me. It's where I've made memories, challenged myself, celebrated with the city, and found a place to unwind. Every visit reminds me why I love living in Houston. I already can't wait for my next run, and I hope to see you out there.

There are quite a few manicured grass spots for picnics or to bring a book, as well as shaded areas. I have always felt very safe at this park. A 'not so hidden' gem as parking can be a little tough, but leads to not very busy trails. I never realized how beautiful this park is compared to the days I would only drive by!

Coming in at a hefty 65-70lbs of questionable coordination, expert intellect, and pure speed, it's been a challenge mentally and physically exhausting my active Border Collie mix. Unfortunately even after his very active dog dad's runs combined with a generous backyard and playdates with his fur friend, he's got more remaining energy in one paw than I have in an entire month. This park is fabulous regardless of if your fur baby is this active, or prefers to relax on a bench undisturbed (although a division for the two play styles is the only thing I'd suggest adding). As others have mentioned, the dog beach, shaded benches, dog runs, trail, doggy showers, and overall cleanliness of the park are impressive. Additionally most dog parents are as trained as their pups, remaining attentive, and polite. Just be sure to watch the water if your pup is overconfident in their swimming abilities.
