The adult beverages are very good and potent. We had a couple Angel & Demons and a couple Level Gimlets. We shared five small plates between and we left feeling content without being stuffed. We went here for a holiday party & all the food & drink was great. The staff was very nice and everyone had a wonderful time. The sliders with pimento spread were grilled perfectly. The mini crab cakes had a little kick. The pork rolls were stuffed with pulled pork & cheese. And the fries were cooked & seasoned just right. I first want to give a shout out to Level A for amazing customer service. I left my purse at the restaurant and live out of town. Before I even realized it was missing I was back in Virginia. When the manager returned my call he was so polite and mailed my purse back to me! I offered to Venmo him and he covered it! Seriously amazing, thank you. Was kicked out of my own wedding including 97 year old grandma who had to wait outside in the cold. The reason why, because a guest in our party was dancing with her daughter. The owner pulled myself, the bride, out and told her that the kids were causing her bar guests to leave and she was worried about "reviews." First of all, the servers and staff were cheerful and friendly. Most definitely the best thing about Level. Second, our cocktails were prompt and delightful. Our evening was going well but then came some of our food. The crab appetizer was served with no seasonings and more corn kernels than crab. After 2 bites, I was finished and waited on our grilled cauliflower steak. The cauliflower arrived room temperature and raw. Again, no seasonings and served with lots of corn kernels. I was a frequent patron of level from 2012-2014 and always enjoyed the food and service, for some reason I had started trying other Annapolis restaurants. Today I was pleasantly surprised to see that level has the same quality of food and fresh cocktails. The menu changes seasonally and they always have a great variety of seafood, meet and vegetable options. The cocktails are fresh and well made, best time to go is during happy hour because the drinks can be a little pricey. I have come to level several times now and every time I am just as impressed as the first visit. The atmosphere is very nice, casual but classy. They have an eclectic drink menu I recall having a wintery drink one time with a sprig of rosemary and a cranberry garnish that I'll never forget! It is a small plate tapas type restaurant so sharing a few bites with the table is recommended so that you may try several different things. We started off with a squash salad that was pretty good but I was expecting more squash than I was leafy salad. Our next dish was a crispy fried duck leg and HOLY MOLY it was honestly the best duck I've ever had. Perfectly crispy fried outside juicy gamey meat on the inside with a honey peanut chili glaze on the side. Ugh I could literally come back everyday for that duck. We had a colorful beer and apricot salad with Brie which I also fell in love with. Idk what it was but the candy like texture of the dried apricots alongside the creamy Brie and the soft beets chunks was sinful. We saved a little room for dessert and ordered the special vegan coconut rice pudding topped with a pineapple fruit purée. Another mouth watering choice. I probably could have eaten a whole bowl if they let me but the cup they served us was actually perfect to top off our meal. Our server was awesome he caught me taking pictures of my food though which was quite hilarious for the remainder of the meal. The highlight of our night was ordering the Wild Caught Calamari off the menu. I'm going to have to say it, best calamari in Annapolis! Bottom Line: Crafty cocktails and fresh, quality food prepared in an open kitchen. My SO and I venture to Level a Small Plates for a night out on the town. It had been on my Yelp bookmarks for at least a year and it didn't disappoint. I liked that it was close to the parking garage (Gotts Court Garage), they take reservations, the crafty cocktails go down with ease, the service is attentive and the food is delish. Also, I always appreciate a restaurant with an open kitchen because it boosts my confidence that they have a clean kitchen with fresh ingredients. The menus are seasonal but to give you an idea of what to expect the SO and I shared the beet salad, eggplant tapenade, steak and truffle mac and cheese. We both had Level Gimlets and thought the tart but sweet lime goodness was yummy. We found that four small plates for the two of us was sufficient. Our server had great recommendations and was very attentive. Regarding the dress code, I would say something between casual and business casual is appropriate. There is a sign at the entrance that says "Appropriate Attire Required," and I think that means no tank tops on dudes, no bathing suits, yellow rain gear like the Gorton's Fisherman, etc. because the wait staff was wearing jeans and sneakers. The drinks are a stand out here - I saw much muddling and heard rave reviews from others at the bar that their drinks were so fantastic. I had the Moscow mule and it was the best I've ever had. The house made fries, and butcher steak are also fantastic, as are the fried Brussels sprouts. There's not a plate I've tried that I haven't throughly enjoyed. I would like to give this place a 3.5, but I'll round up for great service. Level is a very popular local restaurant and for the most part, it delivers on what it promises. They have a menu of small plates which are quite interesting, and they recommend about 2-3 plates per person depending on how hungry you are. My wife and I were there for a celebration and we had a gift card, so we just jumped right in with 3 plates each. Some of the food was quite good, and some of the food was just OK. For example, I didn't really like the Seared Pork Ribs (not enough tasty meat), and my wife really didn't like the Brie & Fig Melt or the Hummus, though I personally enjoyed the Hummus. The dishes we did really like were the hand cut fries, the 3 cheese mac, and the tuna tartare. The other thing I didn't love was that the bathrooms upstairs were pretty filthy, but to be fair it was a Saturday night. All in all it was a good experience, but a pricey one. Small plates is fine, and I actually prefer that way of eating to try different foods, but it results in a pretty high bill. We ordered 6 plates (one being fries) and 3 drinks, and paid $100 bucks (before tip). Even if we had been a bit more conservative, it would probably be about $40 per person. read more

I had heard great things about Level, so was really excited to finally try it. It's possible our zeal got away from us because we wound up eating ALOT of food. Everything that came to the table was just SO good! We shared everything, so I was able to try everything that came to the table... The crab bruschetta was a great start...not heavy or sauced too heavy which allowed the crab to shine. The chorizo dip scratched almost the exact opposite itch...rich & deep in flavor, almost like a perfect sausage gravy you may find at breakfast time, only with a great kick of spice & served with pita to make it a delicious dinner starter. OMG...then came the brûléed cornbread with a berry compote!!! I figured, "I like cornbread! Why not?!"... I was NOT ready for this. I don't know why it didn't register, but it's what the name says it would be, but damn...imagine the crust from a crème brûlée on the outside of a cornbread scone...I mean I can't say enough about it..it still visits me in my dreams. Apparently, we were just getting started... I then ordered the mushroom salad, which was nicely dressed & rich in flavor, topped with quinoa adding to the delish factor. Then the pan seared scallops came. Perfectly cooked & well-mingled in a tomato gazpacho. I'm not ashamed to admit that I ate almost this whole dish by myself. A banger, trust me. My friend ordered the pork belly tacos for her entree, but I was able to secure a bite and, yep, as you guessed it, magnificent. The cotua cheese added great texture and a good pop with the onions. For my entree I got a 21-day aged steak that will go down as one of the best things I've ever had the pleasure to eat. It was so damn good. A little bit of fat that I just tore through, every bite filled with so much flavor. I don't know the mechanics of whatever the hell the chef did to this thing, but it knocked me straight off my feet. At some point we ordered some chicharrones that were really good with a dipping sauce that set them off nice. WE WERE DONE!!!......but wait!.... Why not order dessert lol? The cheesecake was soft, creamy and dusted with graham cracker atop a fruit compote...so good, and we accompanied it with a scoop of ice cream each, espresso ice cream for me & roasted marshmallow for my friend...a great way to end a perfect meal. In hindsight we really put the wait staff to work, but at no time did we feel like we were a bother, as they were very gracious and actually excited at how much enjoyment we were getting out of our meal. The only problem I'm finding about this meal is my obsession of wanting to go back. Do yourself a favor...just make your next date night reservations at Level in Annapolis... read more

5 stars doesn't even come close to how many this beautiful place and people deserve! Now I've never been in the restaurant myself, I've only had delivery many times over the last few months because I just can't stop. Nothing is better than a farm to table experience and I wait for them to open in the evenings. The cheese plate is my go-to (three local cheeses and if you love pickles, you'll love theirs the best)! I have tried most things besides their wine & desserts which I plan to try when I go in this weekend and I haven't been disappointed a single time, not even close. In fact, if I could chose one place in the world to only ever eat it would, without a doubt, be Level. I usually don't rave about restaurants or places in general but please if you haven't been here yet I strongly recommend you give it a try. The last 2 times I've had delivery the staff have put a sweet card in my bag to thank me for my continuous support during these trying times and that just tells me everything I need to know about them. A memorable pre-concert meal. Me bride and I dined at Level (not "Level A", as their missing-comma listing first registered in my mind) before a show at Ram's Head On Stage. Perfect location just down the street from venue, both convenient to the public garage. We were early for the dinner crowd, so were welcomed cheerfully, and the staff kept us happy throughout. The upstairs dining room is beautiful, a classic rowhouse turned modern, with exposed beams and twinkling lights. A lovely menu with lots of intriguing small plates, and a nice assortment of cocktails and wines by the glass or bottle. I started with a bourbon buck, Woodford Reserve and house ginger beer. We worked our way through a few choices each, sharing all the way. "Cubanh Mi" rolls, delicious with crispy pork and pickles. Outstanding Korean lettuce wraps with tenderloin and tart kimchi. Fried duck confit, a drumstick with peas and pearl onions. A small paella of scallops, shrimp, and perfectly cooked saffron rice. Only the duck left us a little underwhelmed, difficult as it was to carve the meat off the bone. We sadly had to call it after four selections, as we had our fill.
