I have been a customer of Leslie's for over 10 years, and have spent thousands of dollars there, but the inconsistency with the staff advice is mind-blowing, some know everything about pool maintenance but are not around when you need, and you have to deal with the ones that have no clue and make you spend 3x more in products that we don't need or are to be use after other products. It took me 3 visits to the store to finally give me a solution to my pool problem. One more thing they are charging us almost 2 times more than other places are. (for example, Taylor K-1004 - $59,00 and elsewhere $28.00). Please value your customers and you don't need to overcharge us in a market that is already expensive the way it is. read more

My pool was murky, chemistry all out of whack and I was losing my battle with algae. I was dumping chlorine and nothing was working. My problems existed at all levels....hardness, alkalinity, pH, turbidity, and most of all microbial. The kind and expert associates at Leslie helped me systematically isolate the problem, upgrade microbial control and target the real culprit which was ineffective filtration. Either they are flat out liars and cheats or totally incompetent about water testing. Either way, I would never, ever buy anything from these scam artists. After my updated post on Yelp, I was contacted by Leslie's District Manager, Karyn's Fedchenko. Her remedy for this situation was to apologize for the poor service and offer me a $50 credit. I declined the credit and expressed my frustration once again that Leslie's continues to send misleading advertisements for spa covers with free shipping. I have received at least three additional emails with this offer since the original email when I discovered the unprofessional advertising practice. Clearly Leslie's is missing the point here. I'm done patronizing their business and a $50 credit is not going to change my mind. The ethical thing for Leslie's to do is to stop putting out advertisements for free shipping on spa covers and then not honoring the offer. If they continue with the advertisement as it appears they intend to do, I sincerely hope people are aware that it is misleading and do not purchase their products. read more

I've been coming in for the past month and it's a nice store. Jennifer is usually the one that helps me when i come in. She always gives great advice and is very helpful. My only problem is that there are alot of people in the store and there is only one person working. I'm not sure if this is because of the time I come into the store, but I do come in on the weekends and it's pretty busy. read more

I was in Leslie's pool supply today and they always have a good amount of chemicals and supplies. They are pretty friendly for the most part, but the big problem they have is that they are always understaffed. Many times I go in there and find people lined up to get helped while their only employee is doing a pool water sample. Thats what happened today. If they are going to offer free pool chemical analysis, then they need to have an extra employee working. Again, the person was very friendly but there was nothing he can do. Cant help 5 people at once and expect everyone to be happy. I will go back, but will always allow extra time because of the short staff they often have. read more

The price of the tile cleaner on the shelf shows $18.99 but when rang up it was $19.99 before tax. When I told the cashier about the price difference, he tells me "It's only a dollar". Really?!! I used to go the store in Clayton all the time. I dropped in for some items for the pool and the guy behind the counter must have been having a bad day. He didn't really want to spend any extra energy and wasn't helpful. It's too bad, I live 3 blocks away but will now go the store in Clayton. The staff was really helpful in assisting me in helping me find what I needed I need a new filter cartridge and I wasn't sure what size I needed but they asked me for some dimensions and once I gave them the information required we were able to narrow it down to the right cartridge and I left the store with what I needed to get my pool up and running, five stars for sure :) read more

My usual guys have a scheduling problem regarding repairs, so I thought I would try out Leslie's. Big mistake. I need a new pump apparently says the repairman who comes to my house. Ok so install one I say. Not so fast. I have to take in the order sheet to the local store, have them order it and then what happens then I have no idea because nobody can tell me. I've gone to this Leslie's for a number of years. Over the last year, however, I've noticed that every time I've been in there I have been pressured to buy more than I came in for. I had begun to feel that staff was being incentivized to up-sell. This week I went in with a question about pool staining. I described the problem to the clerk & he proposed a slew of chemicals to buy. When I pointed out that one of the products he recommended was for a vinyl pool & mine is a plaster pool, he pulled that one back with an "oh, yeah. You won't need that". I wish I had followed my instincts & walked out of the store right then, but I didn't. I bought two products for a total of $70 & was not told that they have started a "no returns on chemicals" policy. Although this was printed on the receipt, the clerk did not tell me that I would not be able to return the chemicals, nor was there a sign anywhere indicating such. After doing some research I decided not to use the products I had just purchased. When I tried to return them (4 days after purchase & unopened) I was told of the no returns policy. I find this to be ridiculous since I made the purchase based on an employee's recommendation & was not advised that I would not be able to return the products; I was returning the items within 4 days of purchase; and they were essentially new, unused & unopened. One of the best pool stores around. This is one of my favorite pool stores I've ever used. I drive 8 miles out of my way to buy at this store vs. their competitors. Reasonable pricing and knowledgeable sales people. Ariel, the store manager is the best! She's extremely knowledgeable about water chemistry balancing and pool equipment and is very patient explaining things to naive customers like myself. Just went in the other day to purchase a small item for my pool and I was met with misery. This is not my first encounter with the same unfriendly woman but she was definitely snappier than the last time, I guess it must be because during my last visit she didn't even respond to my question! Ariel the store manager is always friendly and nice, but I can't say much about that short haired brunette lady. I asked her the first time about where to leave my pool sample and she didn't even acknowledge my presence. I asked a question on my next visit and she was so rude and short with her response that it took me by surprise. I just wanted to get out of there. She really needs to get another job because she is clearly unhappy. She really will drive customers away with her nasty and rude attitude, her facial expression is not better either. Honestly, I rather drive further out than have to step back into the store, I don't want to walk back into misery again! read more

These guys seems more interested in hanging out in the back of the store than helping customers. I've also special ordered some products and had to call several times a just to find out they forgot to order it. I will try not to return. read more

The staff is always very professional (likewise in Pleasant Hill, not so much elsewhere) their prices are fair and their service the strong point. I was looking for a Pool guy to come service my pool every week and my neighbors told me about Leslie's Swimming Pool Supplies. I went to the website and found this location to be closer to my house. I walked in and they immediately acknowledged me, they were really friendly and, they know so much about pools that I couldn't believe. The manager was outstanding when I asked him a question he knew exactly what I was talking about. He handed me a water bottle and said that they do free water tests. After we talked for some time about my pool and how much I can save money by doing it my self, he gave me his card and told me I can call the store anytime if I need help with my pool equipment or anything. Leslie's Pools on Ygnacio in Walnut Creek is the best pool store in contra costa county. I had a massively green pool at the beginning of this swim season. Arial and Thomas knowledge went far beyond just adding algaecide. turns out that I had high copper content and extremely low pH. Looked like only option was to drain pool which is difficult with fiberglass pool and expensive. Over a month, Arial walked me through, step by step the process of getting the pool chemistry balanced. Sadly, I was left with a yellow leaf stain on the bottom of the pool. After trying yellow algaecide, they suggested I take a Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) tablet and put it on the stain. Within an hour, the stain was gone in a small area of pill. I purchased couple pounds of powder ascorbic acid, broadcast it over the pool and now we're swimming in a clear, warm, beautiful pool free of stains. Arial and her staff are not only knowledgeable, but patient, resourceful, helpful, professional and friendly. They know their chemistry and their products. I highly recommend Leslie's Pool Supplies on Ygnacio Valley Rd in Walnut Creek for all your pool needs. BTW, the store is beautiful. Thanks you Ariel. read more

Unfortunately my experience has not been pleasant with these guys. They are in it to throw parts at something and run up the bill as opposed to accurately troubleshooting pool equipment. I take them my Polaris pool vaccum with a broken scew that holds the wheel in place. After 3 days I get it back but they never checked it to see if wheels turn once cleaner is on. When I take it back to them they said I had to change the back up valve ($100) since cleaner doesn't move about the pool. I didn't take their word for it. I swapped the back up valve on my own and problem persisted. After watching a couple of videos online I noticed that my wheels don't even turn when cleaner is on. So when they replaced the screw to put the wheel on, they most likely didn't engage the gear onto the wheel so the wheels would turn. So instead they want to sell me a back up valve!!! These guys claim "Free Labor" but in fact they make their money by throwing parts at a device without even checking the simple components after they fix to make sure it is working.... now I have been in the store 3 times, they have had my pool cleaner for the 2nd time for over 3 days- over a period of 2 weeks of downtime. Incompetence to say the least..... they are just very close to me and that is why I have gone here...as soon as I find a different store with more professional staff, I dump these guys. read more
